    Tuscan Chicken

I was a little worried about a dinner out here due to some of these reviews but I'm so glad we went. We went on a Saturday night at about 5:30. We were greeted by a host and seated immediately. The space is very nice inside. About four main seating areas separated by walls so it didn't ever feel too noisy or too busy. Our waiter was friendly and attentive. Overall start to finish the service was a very nice pace. We ordered a few beverages and appetizers to start. The maple old fashion was the favorite although one person thought it was a little sweet but it balanced the bourbon well. The cheese wedges were favored among the child in the group - but from an adult perspective they were crisp and well seasoned and the marinara was fantastic. The bruschetta was just ok. Each entree came with soup or salad and we all got the Cesar salad. The salad was very tasty but maybe just a little heavy on the dressing. For entrees we tried the fettuccini Alfredo, the Tuscan Chicken, and one of the specials. The Tuscan Chicken dish was one of the best chicken dishes I've had in a very long time and I consider myself a bit of a foodie. The chicken was soft and juicy but the outer crust was crisp and flavorful. The sauce that accompanied the dish was very good. The special was also very good. The alfredo was enjoyed by the young member of the group but it was heavy on the sauce. Highly recommend trying the Tuscan Chicken if you ever venture out here.

Nice, homey Italian restaurant. The service was friendly and good. Food was good too. I would come back again.

Shrimp Scampi. Delicious. Large shrimp, pasta and garlic.

The restaurant resides in an older, well kept building in the small downtown area of the rural Town of South Deerfield. The interior of the restaurant is small, but welcoming, with an L-shaped bar for approximately (12) persons which accommodates food service, and table seating for approximately 50-60. We arrived at 5:30pm on a Friday, and by 6pm it was full; reservations are highly recommended. With regards to the food, everything was absolutely amazing! We started with the Fried Calamari (appetizer), which is my 'go to' as I both love it, and feel it is a perfect test of a kitchen's abilities, as it is a simple appetizer, but can be easily cooked poorly; this calamari was perfectly cooked (not chewy), and both lightly battered and flavored for a momentus start to our food experience. We also started with the Roasted Mushrooms (appetizer), and while I did not sample, the other members of my party thoroughly enjoyed. For the main course, I ordered the Chicken Cordon Blue (house specialty), which incorporated prosciutto and a unique creamy parmigiano sage rose sauce. The execution of the chicken preparation along with the sauce showcased the talent in the kitchen, reminding me that Gianni Figs is a chef owned restaurant. The other members of the table enjoyed Pasta Carbonara (traditional pasta), Grill to Table Scallops and Chicken Cacciatori (ribeye, chicken, & veal), all which I was informed were amazing! One minor critique as I pretend to be a legitimate food reviewer, is a consideration for the interior ambiance of the right side of the restaurant. If the right side were to more closely resemble the left side, with the addition of some wood, decor and softer lighting, it would create a warmer atmosphere for patrons. Additionally, a door or some type of partition to the kitchen entrance would also elevate the setting for those sitting adjacent to. Lastly, while I understand things will never go back to pre-2020, and the world is an altered place, with altered standards, I will note that multiple tables included patrons wearing ball caps and hooded/printed weatshirts while eating. Considering Gianni Figs food to be higher-dining quality, the dress code did not align and affects the ambiance. Food Rating: 4.5/5 Ambiance Rating: 3.75/5 Overall Rating: 4.125/5

The restaurant is located on the 2nd floor of an architecturally pleasing brick building, with the interior ambiance (decor & lighting) fitting of the food style, setting a comforting mood along with the classic 50's/60's Italian American music. All around the food was both tasteful and comforting, similar to what I remember my Nonni would make. From the Calamari Friitti (appetizer) served with both a marinara and vodka sauce, the Meatballs (appetizer) of a classic beef and pork blend, to the Chicken Francaise (dinner), everything combined for a delicious meal. Mulino's is a great estaurant to visit with your spouse or friends for a nice 'family' dinner without being overly fancy/stuffy. One minor critique as I pretend to be a legitimate food reviewer, add a slight touch more butter to the Chicken Francaise sauce. My son and I collectively rated Mulino's: 4.25/5.

I started with a cocktail topped with a mini charcuterie board, which was a fun touch. We ordered the tuna tartare to start. The portion was generous and the tuna tasted very fresh, especially with the mashed avocado on top. For my entree, I had the frutti di mare. The flavors were great, but I wish the sauce were a bit thicker since it settled at the bottom and left the noodles a little bare. Service was excellent and we never felt rushed. My fiancé ordered the espresso martini with cold foam to finish. I am not usually a fan of espresso martinis, but this one was impressive. The cold foam and chocolate-covered espresso beans stood out. Looking forward to coming back in the summer to try the patio.

We started with the beets and peas salad, which was bursting with flavor--our plates were practically licked clean. The house arugula salad was crisp, fresh, and perfectly balanced with a light, lemony vinaigrette. For mains, we shared the roasted half chicken and the bucatini. Both were phenomenal. I rarely order chicken at restaurants since it often feels too plain, but this one was perfection--crispy skin, juicy meat, and seasoning that carried through every bite. The bucatini, made with homemade pasta and loaded with crispy pancetta, was absolutely irresistible. We couldn't resist finishing with the "Little Mason Jar" dessert, which was indulgent and delicious. Everything--from the service to the food to the ambiance--was exceptional. Our waitress was absolutely amazing. She was kind, attentive, and whenever something was forgotten, she immediately went to speak with the kitchen and tried to make it right. That being said, our table definitely seemed to fall into a bit of a communication dead zone. My chicken parm was forgotten, and while waiting for it the rest of my family's food got cold. They ended up sending their pasta back to be reheated, which also took a while. Our drinks were forgotten at one point as well, and our to go dessert sat waiting for a long time before anyone brought it over. Mare E Monti - Exceptional Authentic Italian & Seafood Pasta Spot in Worcester, MA…read more Mare E Monti is an exceptional Italian gem -- probably home to the best seafood pasta I've ever had. I was in town ahead of a half marathon near Hampton Beach on Sunday. After a long drive and a surprise call that my extended family was touring the East Coast nearby, we decided to meet halfway -- and Worcester made perfect sense. I booked a table for eight at 8 PM on Saturday. We miscounted our party, which led to about a 45-minute wait, but honestly, that just gave us more time to catch up. The interior strikes a lovely balance -- rustic yet modern, cozy yet romantic, and unmistakably Italian in feel. Starters We kicked off with two plates of Calamari Fritti -- classic native calamari, lightly fried and tossed with cherry peppers and a delicate butter sauce. Absolutely delicious; I had to restrain myself from finishing the whole plate. Complimentary garlic bread with olive oil was also served, and I stopped myself at 2-3 slices to save room for the race-fueling carbs to come. For salad, I chose the Insalata Casalinga -- crisp field greens, grape tomatoes, julienne carrots, cucumbers, red onion, and imported olives in a light vinaigrette. Simple, fresh, and highly recommended. The Main Event The real reason I chose Mare E Monti was simple: carb loading. I went with the Pasta con Cozze e Fagioli -- sautéed mussels in a garlic white wine sauce with diced tomatoes and cannellini beans, tossed with linguine. It was everything I'd hoped for: flavorful yet light, satisfying without being heavy. The mussels were tender, the beans added substance, and the pasta was perfectly cooked. Others at the table tried the Ravioli di Aragosta (lobster ravioli) on my recommendation. I snagged a bite -- and it was heavenly. Rich, delicate, and beautifully balanced. Final Thoughts Dinner here was the perfect pre-race meal -- nourishing without weighing me down. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming, the service attentive, and the food consistently excellent. Even parking was simple; I found easy street parking just around the corner (though valet is also available). Oh, and the next morning? I ran a personal best in my half marathon -- just over 1 hour and 20 minutes. I'd like to think the perfect plate of pasta helped fuel that finish. All in all, Mare E Monti is a must-visit for anyone craving authentic Italian cuisine and standout seafood pasta in the Worcester area. I'll absolutely be back next time I'm in Massachusetts.
