In the past 3 years, I went there 3 times a year because the brimfield antique show. I always look forward to order my favorite dish Pesto Sauce with fettuccine every time. I had good experiences every time until this year May, it was slightly different from what I had before, less basil flavor and fettuccine was slightly over cooked too, and antipasti Brussel sprouts was sweeter and less vinegar than what I remembered. I had to ask my waitress if they changed different chef, but she said they still had the same chef and nothing was changed. Well, I guess I just got a bad luck. But at least their homemade Tiramisu was still good as usual! I still gave 5 start. Hope this July I can have my old good experience back from them. read more

I made reservations for Easter specifically asked if they were gonna have a ham dinner.. that's what my 84 year old mother requested. I was told yes and I was told they would also have dinner specials well they had no ham no specials very disappointing and a little too late to go somewhere else. Came early on New Year's Eve, and sat at the bar. I was dining alone, and the Bartender was friendly at first but cooled off after I ordered the Seafood Puttanesca. She asked everyone else at the bar if they wanted another drink but not me, until I Packed up my to go box that was way too small for my leftovers. Food was good, not great! I have been to Via Appia for dinner and now lunch. my friend and I found the Caesar salad very good. We each had a chicken meal, chicken Marsala and chicken piccata. The meals came to us quickly and hot. They were both delicious. We agree that we will return again. read more

Celebrated my birthday at Via Appia with my boyfriend tonight and enjoyed every minute. The bruschetta might've been the best I've EVER had. We couldn't stop eating it and cleaned the plate in record time. My BF went the Build Your Own Pasta route and got rigatoni in marinara and meatballs. The rigatoni were impressive and he loved the sauce. I got the shrimp scampi on fettuccine and it was delectable! HUGE shrimp and a sauce that clung to the fresh made fettuccine. They make their pasta in house, which really does make all the difference. The live music was a nice touch. ALMOST gets 5 full stars but my one complaint is that their pomegranate cosmo isn't made with pomegranate juice, just pomegranate vodka which doesnt really deliver enough pomegranate flavor to differeniate it from a regular cosmo. Absolutely awful food. I got the carbonara, and the pasta was very wet (meaning the egg in it was raw/uncooked). I sent the food back and asked that they cook the food more - the plate came back 5 minutes later and the carbonara looked exactly the same as when I returned it - ie, they didn't do anything with the pasta, just waited a few minutes and brought it back to me. Also, my friend got the agnolotti, which is a fancy name for ravioli - a whole 3 raviolis were on his plate. This place is a disgrace and embarrassment to Italian cooking. read more

It's a nice place. My family of seven came in around five o'clock after the Springfield Police Memorial service for a long dinner. Our server Chelsea had fun with us. She was on point when we had finished our dishes and we conveniently placed them where when she had an empty hand she took them off the table. She is someone who enjoys her social work and will make your time enjoyable. We ordered three orders of mozzarella and three orders of portabella Mushrooms. The cooks sent Chelsea out to verify that is what we ordered and we all chuckled and said yes. Mozzarella sticks were good, I didn't have any mushrooms but the table gave them the thumbs up. For an entree I had the lasagna which was delicious. Came in a dish straight from the oven so super hot, which was a benefit considering we wait for everyone to get their meal before digging in. Everyone raved about their meals. Chicken franchise could come with a little more sauce dressed over the chicken. As you can imagine the amount of cheese I indulged was plentiful. First of all, the food is outstanding. Should be 5 stars. Unfortunately, there was an overwhelming odor in the restaurant. It smelled like they used a dirty mop or dirty wash cloth on the tables (like mildew). If they could fix that issue, it would be my new favorite restaurant. read more

My wife and I stopped at Via Appia tonight for our "date" night, when we try to stop at places we have not dined before. Via Appia is relative new Italian eatery along the Boston Posh Road in Wilbraham. It was an hour before closing so the place was nearly empty. Not many people have dinner at 9pm. Our server, Beth, greeted and seated us promptly. This being our first time there, I asked Beth about recommendations. She was knowledgeable and very helpful In deciding what we were going to order. We started with the Appia Meatballs appetizer, my wife ordered the braised beef short ribs with mashed potatoes and I ordered the baked cheese ravioli. My wife had the house salad and I had the Caesar salad. Beth brought house made Italian bread and a small plate of balsamic vinegar and olive oil for dipping. In short order the appetizer came out. OMG visually so delicious looking. I wish I had brought my phone to snap photos. Four gorgeous racquetball sized meatballs on a bed of polenta. The meatballs were the filet mignon of meatballs. They were the perfect blend of meats and seasoning. Tender, juicy absolutely delicious. The polenta was creamy and perfectly cooked. Our salads came out next. My Caesar salad was dressed with just the right amount. Our entrees were next. The house made ravioli were huge and al dente. Sauce and melted mozzarella cheese made a warm gooey layer that accompanied the ravioli. My wife's braised beef short ribs were fork tender and in an incredible gravy. It was balanced by some lightly garlicky real mashed potatoes and a mushroom/Brussels sprout side. The meal was finished off with their in house made vanilla panna cotta. Everything exceeded my expectations. The high points were the meatballs and polenta. The only miss was the pickles onion garnish on the braised beef short ribs. The service provided by Beth was exceptional. For the food, a cocktail, a tea, and dessert, the total was just over $100. Plus a well deserved 30% tip. We went as a party of four and were sat basically right next to the bathroom. We sat at our table and saw who was to be our waitress no less than 3 times throughout about 10/12 minutes with no "welcome", no "I'll be right with you", not even a glance in our direction. I got up to ask the hostess if she could send a waitress over and there was no apology there, no embarrassment, just an "ok". Someone finally came over and took our drink order and gave us water. The drinks came 10 minutes later and talk about an inexperienced bartender AND manager because they messed up on easy drinks and put them in completely inappropriate glasses. When our waitress finally did come over she was embarrassingly awkward and inexperienced, but overall nice. Our glasses were empty for a long time. As far as the food, I'd say meh. The bread and herbed butter was weird, the portions on the salads were sad, my friend ordered a soup and never got it. The chicken Frances was ok with one small piece of chicken and VERY al dente pasta. My husband had the braised short ribs which were pretty good, but the brussel sprouts were super undercooked. My friends had the surf and turf and they said it was good, but not for the price. I know they just opened and I respect the fact that there will be kinks, but it's going to take me a while to think about going back. read more

The food is fresh, hot and delicious. There are problems during busy hours. Host station gets overwhelmed, there us no room to stand waiting on table. Even with reservation had to wait over 30 minutes, and people who checked in after us were seated first, even though we had same time for reservations. The food was good comparable to the old meatball kitchen down the road. The tiramisu at the end was a bit mushy for my Italian taste buds more pudding consistency then tiramisu I am used to, but still good, would give it a try again to update the review. read more

Happy to visit a new restaurant nearby, and one about which I'd heard good things. We were not disappointed. In fact, we'll go back! Beginning with homemade focaccia, served with balsamic and oil, the dining experience was GREAT! Fettuccine Bolognese for my husband and Veal Piccata for me...both were delicious. We came in for lunch on Tuesday and we're greeted by Luis who provided excellent service throughout our lunch! Table side cracked black pepper for our Caesar salads and Parmesan for our entrees. The braised beef ravioli was definitely the winner of our three lunches- but the francaise and bolognese were excellent!! Wow, quite the experience....not all good. We waited for someone to come to our table then another 20 minutes for a drink. Pasta was worst pasta ever,salty and gummy. I had the fettuccini and he had spaghetti, nether ate out meals, waitress cracking on the chef....we ordered cheesecake and she said, "don't, doesn't even l0ok like cheesecake"! Was visiting WMass and I went with friends to Via Appia in Wilbraham, MA for lunch midweek in early January 2023. The restaurant was slow and we decided to sit at the bar which had a nice feel and plenty of sunlight. The restaurant was very clean (as well as the bathroom). For a starter, we ordered the charcuterie board to share. It was beautifully done and definitely enough for three or four people. For my meal, I ordered a burrata salad and requested if a protein could be added. I'm not sure if it's a daily option, but they had fresh salmon available and it was served blackened to perfection. I could have stopped there but I was talked into dessert as another shareable. The waitress said that Via Appia makes their own tiramisu fresh in-house. The slice of tiramisu we were served could have easily been shared with a small family of four (especially after everything else). I'd go back for sure and would love to try a traditional pasta dish and see what it's like at the dinner rush. Overall I was pretty impressed; with the friendly service, quality food, and prices you'd expect I'd certainly recommend it for a good Italian option. Nice looking place, lots of parking. We wanted to grab a quick bite here before going to a brewery nearby. First, the hostess tied to seat us literally on top of the gentleman who performs there on Fri and Sat night, nice voice but kind of like karaoke. Big speaker and lights right next to me. So we moved to the bar. The bartender noticed us right away and took our drink orders quickly and brought menus. Got our drinks fast. That was the last positive. We were nearly done with our drinks and hungry while she struggled making like 8 drinks for other servers. While she was nice, and we were not unsympathetic, our experience was not good.
