To start, the crostini they bring out is crazy good. We had: App: Polpette de la casa- amazing crisp, delicious flavor, and killer sauce Entrees: Linguini with clams and white wine sauce- Awesome! (according to my son) and what I tried of the sauce was delicious Salmon filet over seafood risotto (daily special)- salmon was cooked to PERFECTION and the risotto was cooked just right with awesome seafood flavor Dessert: Only the best cannoli EVER. At first I said they rivaled Mike's and Modern's but upgraded them to my favorite We had a chance to chat with our server and the chef (whom I'm assuming is the owner). Everything was amazing. This wasn't really what we expected. I didn't realize that the food comes out so slowly when I made the reservation. Still, it should've been okay because I allowed for two hours before a show we had tickets for. We ordered our entrees at around 6:15/6:30, but they didn't come out until 7:40 and we had to scarf them down and run out by 7:55. The food itself was alright -- risotto ball appetizer was good, and my entree of sausages and broccolini (falsely advertised at broccoli rabe) was also good, but the pasta primavera was disappointing. The veggies were overcooked and mushy, not at all what you expect of a primavera dish. After a visit at the Basketball Hall of Fame, we decided to see the town and drove down Main Street to see the area sights. On the way back to the hotel, we have a craving for Italian. Yelpers helped us to be curious. We were seated quickly and asked if we were going to the Maroon 5 concert for some reason. We received our complimentary garlic toast fairly quickly. There was only one server working who gets an A for effort because he had to work the entire restaurant, bar tend and bus tables. The kitchen was really messing up because it took an hour to get our first appetizer which was raviolis and the second was mussels which they ran out of. The cheese raviolis were perfectly cooked and the sauce was sweet with a bit of kick and freshness from fresh chopped parsley and tomatoes. Our entree is the locally made sausage, broccoli rabe, perfectly al dente rigatoni, cherry tomatoes, and cannelini beans. It was really delicious. Everything we ate was very good just served slowly. A nice salad comes with dinner so we choose the Greek salad. Crispy romaine lettuce, chopped red onions, cucumber, halved tomatoes and a light sprinkle of feta cheese. No olives unfortunately. Plenty of parking on the street and in their own lot. The menu says cash only but they take cards. They have local musicians every Monday which is so nice to see. Just dined at Ciro's again last night. Anthony always makes you feel like family! The food is always delicious and made to order which is perfect so you don't feel rushed. I highly recommend the eggplant rollatini appetizer! If there's a special of the day, I always go with it...you never know what the market will have to offer on any given day. The bartender/server Andrew was welcoming as well and asked what we would like to drink and also told us the specials of the evening! Service was prompt and our beverages were served! Made a reservation for Sat. night at 6pm before an MGM show. Walked in and the restaurant had only 1 table with 4 people. Staff was very friendly and Anthony the manager/owner greeted us also. We ordered a drink and ordered our meals, when the drinks came out at around 6:15 the salads and bread also came out. On the menu it says allow 25 minutes for your meal as we make everything to order. With only 4 other diners it took 50 minutes for our pasta dishes to come out which is unacceptable. Anthony came to our table twice over a twenty five minute span to tell us that our meals were coming right out? My wife and I eat out quite often and although the food did come out hot and was good we could not get past the poor service . Other restaurants that we frequent such as Caffeines, Casa Di Lisa, B. Napoli have food that is also made to order and hot/fresh but comes out within 15-20 minutes of ordering. The mgr. said they are going through some changes. We went for dinner on Valentine's Day, we had a reservation. When we were sat there were only 4 other tables sitting. The waitress came over and rattled off the menu, I could barely hear her with the music so loud. We ordered, I asked for no pasta, instead I wanted vegetables she said no problem. The table next to us said they weren't given as many choices, they were offered seafood or filet. We weren't offered any seafood. We waited 90 minutes for our dinner and he asked 3 or 4 times well the owner came over and snapped at us. People who were sat after us had gotten their meals. They were so disorganized, the kitchen didn't seem to know what they were doing and when our food came out I was served pasta. Amazing. I went there to celebrate my graduation which was held at the MassMutual center nearby. We were a bit early and showed up before they opened, but they allowed us to sit early and gave us the family treatment. They had excellent recommendations and wine pairings and the chef came out to offer special order options. Even as business picked up, our server was attentive and accommodated our requests. There are no stars for this restaurant experience. From the beginning it was a disaster. Cold appetizers. Cold hard (as a rock) bread. No veal or manicotti. Which we weren't informed of until we ordered it. Salad dressing (only one they offer) was a spoonful of vinegar..awful!! Our dinners came out 15-20 minutes apart. When we asked to speak to the owner, he at first told us he wasn't the owner and then was absolutely the rudest person I ever dealt with. He did not want to hear annything. He kept saying he was short staffed. I understand that, but one waiter/bartender on a Saturday night!! I ordered a filet medium rare. It was RAW!! Definitely will never return. I've always enjoyed the food there. The service has its flaws but it's certainly never neglectful. Unfortunately my last experience there didn't sit well with me at all, and I am hesitant to ever go back. I last went there for a small birthday celebration with my parents. Unbeknownst to me, my father called ahead to make a reservation and was asked at that time if it was for a "special occasion." When he said yes, the person taking the call asked him if he wanted a cake brought out at the end of the meal, my dad said yes. Sounds nice, right? I spent ten years working in restaurants, I am quite familiar with upselling, and I have no issue with it. The restaurant and servers are there to make money, and I'm there to spend it for a nice experience. I do have an issue with a restaurant brings out an entire cake meant to serve 15-20 people for a party of three. That's not upselling, that's straight up taking advantage of your customers. It wasn't even a flavor anyone liked. My parents took a couple bites to be polite but essentially the entire thing went into the trash. read more

We came thru town on a Tuesday night for MGM and planned to eat at Red Rose but it was closed. This place was open so we gave it a shot. I sincerely hope that the usual chef was sunning himself on vacation. This was the worst Italian meal of my life. Bar none. Everything was over-spiced and covered in chopped cilantro or something else that the Pope should ban from Italian food immediately. The salad....it was fresh but there was some foreign taste in the dressing we couldn't ID. The marinara sauce again, it did not taste or look like marinara. It was watery, over spiced, and overloaded with some chopped up green(not parsley). The meatballs were burnt and tasteless. Like if you took some chop meat, made a ball, and over fried it. Inedible. The ravioli...paper thin and under cooked. We asked for some extra bread and were charged $8 for 4 pieces of thin French bread. Free refills you ask? Cmon now, don't be a wise guy! And for one last smack on the way out the tip was already added to the bill. In my rush to leave I almost left a 40% tip. Save yourself!!!! read more

I was looking for somewhere different that I've never been before to enjoy a nice birthday dinner when I found Ciro's. When I arrived, I immediately felt at home with Italian music playing and a relaxing ambiance. For appetizers, we ordered risotto balls, eggplant rollatini, and meatballs. They were all to die for! They brought some delicious garlic bread to the table as well as some salads, the real Italian way, with oil and vinegar. For entrees, we ordered the Surf and Turf and the Bolognese. The steak in the Surf and Turf was seasoned and cooked perfectly, served with shrimp and a delicious side of garlic mashed potatoes and seasonal veggies. I was worried about the Bolognese as I've never tried it before, and I'm usually pretty picky, but it was delicious! We were even brought a special pasta plate that the kitchen had whipped up for us to try, and it was out of this world! For dessert, we ordered Cannoli that were freshly made from Italian bakery across the street and espressos. Every plate we received had such a beautiful presentation, and I really appreciated the amazing homestyle Italian cooking that reminded me so much of my grandmother from the old country! It is a little pricey, and the service is a little slow, but the quality and freshness of the food you receive is totally worth it the price and the wait! Cash only as of a couple weeks back when we went. We decided to come here on a whim because Red Rose looked packed and my parents in law wanted a more straight Italian place/not a pizza focused restaurant and Ciro's delivered and then some. The place was deserted - possible based on previous reviews that the wait for meals is why people are hesitant to stop in, seems like there could be a staffing issue which wouldn't be surprising considering everything that's going on. The owner was the one who cooked everything for us and it was all excellent, but of course took a little while to prepare as he was the only one cooking! Really enjoyed our night at Ciro's and hope business picks up for them and that they can get additional back of house staff. It's a great restaurant and we loved the food. We each had a pasta dish, all came with homemade pasta which was awesome, white wine mussels which were delicious, my husband got a surf and turf style dish and his steak was cooked to a perfect medium rare. I had swordfish piccata and it was delicious. We all got cannolis for dessert which were all made to order and so delicious. Overall lovely place and hope business picks back up! read more

Our experience was a cavalcade of Bad Surprises (B.S.) Here is an account of those bad surprises in detail on a Tuesday evening in April: Bad Surprise (B.S.) No. 1: No credit cards. When you arrive you see a sign on the door announcing that they do not accept credit cards. They have an ATM in the bar. So why is that customer unfriendly? With a credit card I get reward points. With Ciro's I get a $3.50 ATM service charge. Nothing about this on their web site. B.S. No. 2: Menu. The menu you are handed is the same as posted on their web site. So I ordered veal saltimbocca from the menu (one of several veal offerings) and was told that they have not served any veal in the restaurant "for months." I do get it that veal has gotten expensive, but then why has it remained on their menu (both printed and web) for months while it is not available to customers? I ended up with a chicken dish, not what I came for based on their web posted menu. Why don't they update their web menu and switch to updated paper menus in the dining room from an office printer? B.S. No. 3: The kitchen. It was hit or miss. Things started well. The entrees came with a house salad which I liked because the dressing was light on the vinegar, and we ordered a Caprese Salad appetizer which was excellent. But then I ended up with the chicken Milanese; the coating was good but the chicken was chewy, not tender. They prepared a shrimp scampi for my wife at her request which turned out crazily oversalted. B.S. No. 4: The bill. $15 for a Dewars on the rocks? Yikes. For those of you who are not scotch drinkers, Dewars is a popular price brand that sells for $25 per bottle on the retail store shelf; $15 for one drink is egregiously excessive. Also, the lemon slices. My wife asked the server to bring a couple of slices of lemon with the tap water. She did, but then we were charged $2 on the bill for them--$1 for each little lemon wedge. I am 78 years old, my wife and I go out for fine dining in Boston where we live at least twice a month and we have never been charged for the lemon slices. Finally, there was something on the bill called a "liquor tax." I have never seen a separate tax on liquor ever before, the tax is always included in the single percentage calculated on the total bill. Who is it remitted to? Ah, a mystery wrapped in an enigma. Also, they include on the bill an automatic 20% tip but this is not a Bad Surprise because they do tell you on the web site that this will happen. Still, it is something that I found offensive. They call it a gratuity but since it is forced it is not a gratuity, it is part of the price. read more

Came here for my birthday and to say they went above and beyond was an understatement. The whole staff was so friendly, going out of their way to accommodate my boyfriend and I with our entrées. The food was SO good. That was genuinely one of the best bruchettas I have ever had, highly recommend getting that. I'm not sure if the owner was who we were speaking to but genuinely such a kind, attentive person who you could tell was passionate about food and this restaurant when he spoke to us about what we wanted. There was a live saxophone player which made the ambiance and vibe relaxing and a little romantic. Ciro's was incredible! Our family made a last minute reservation early on a Saturday evening and were accommodated right away. All staff were friendly, accommodating and attentive. The food was all clearly made from scratch and made to order, including what seemed to be homemade pasta. Our party was in a bit of a time crunch, which they accommodated as best they could - if you are looking for a classic, Italian meal with no rush or fuss, this is the place. Restaurant is cash only (not on website), you pull up and it says there is valet (there's not), they include a 20% gratuity with the bill but don't disclose that, so we double tipped. They have items on the menu that they don't serve. They have no cocktail menu, but will "make you anything". The drink was terrible and wildly overpriced. The food was decent at best and we only saw 2 other couples (both elderly). Place is a ghost town for good reason. Staff is very friendly and welcoming but this place is a scam and we'd never return. I want to start by saying in this world of urgency, cell phones, pre prepared everything and cookie cutter service assembly lines, my wife and I often look for a break from the norm. I should also mention we are both from NYC and we've found that "made from scratch" often refers to someone winning big in the lottery, up here in central New England. For the negative ones I highly suggest people looking for super fast, shove your food down your throat, precooked processed food with no social interaction, to go to Olive Garden or Cheesecake Factory. They serve their purpose, they are not this and in my opinion NOT A DINING EXPERIENCE! So, now for my review ;-). Anthony is a restauranteur in every sense of the word. During our experience he was supporting the bar the wait staff the kitchen and the host. He told us he started working in the restaurant business at 12. He personally picks out his product, he sets the prices, he develops the marketing and from what we gathered he built his restaurant by hand. In other words he really really really cares! Not easy if you ask me. The food was out of this world. He offered us a sample of the eggplant rotini with made from scratch sauce and all I can say is, every bite was out of this world and that was just the complimentary appetizer! The rest of the meal just got better from there. Meatballs that are flash fried so they are crispy on the outside and scrumptious on the inside, pizza made from super fresh dough again crispy on the outside and delicious throughout. Even my salad was delectable, amazing dressing, every vegetable fresh and flavorful with blue cheese that just came from a farm. For desert we had a perfect and I really mean perfect cannoli. The whip cream alone would have made a great desert but the ricotta cream filling and shell should be boxed and sold in volume. I suspect they close on Sunday so that Anthony can rest and prepare his wonderful meals for his loved ones. Monday through Saturday you too can experience his passion and become loved ones yourself. Worst restaurant experience ever. The manager/ owner, Anthony is a cheat. This place is CASH ONLY. We realized in less than 10 minutes of placing our order. We did not have cash or a bank card. I explained the situation to Anthony who stated it was impossible to cancel as the order was already being prepared. He said there was a sign at the door and we could use the ATM in-house or go to the casino or bank next door. I was compelled to run out and grab cash from CVS. Our meal was obviously not being prepared because we then waited for over an hour for it to arrive. The menu items were limited. I specifically requested my pasta be vegetarian. When our pasta did arrive, I identified something that looked like veal or sausage. The next 15 minutes involved the cook and the server dissecting my plate with a fork at the dinner table trying to figure out what the meat was. It was then concluded that this was eggplant. I politely requested that I was not comfortable eating this. It had been prodded by 3 different people AND they weren't a 100% sure what it was. Now Anthony came over to the table and tried to convince me that his Primavera does not have any meat and that I should eat it. He also stated that "I've been trying to create trouble ever since I got here." We then decided this was enough and got up to leave. Anthony aggressively blocked us at the door and insisted we pay up for the meals. We were so absolutely done with this nonsense that we dropped $60 for the food we did not touch and left. I have never felt so trapped and intimidated at a restaurant. Also, NONE of the employees, including cooks were wearing masks. They were definitely violating the Commonwealth of Massachusetts City of Springfield Board of Health COVID-19 Mandatory Mask mandate. read more
