Always love going to Nick's, my bestie and I decided to come here today for an early dinner. We sat outside since it was a nice day. Lots of patio seating area which is nice to people watch. Location was clean and nicely decorated. I ordered the special today which was a blackened Alaskan Halibut fish sandwich. It comes with a side so I ordered the Nick's house special salad. The seasoning on the fish was delicious and it was cooked to perfection. I loved the salad and the dressing was delicious! My bestie and I split a fried devil's egg, it was really tasty. Service was awesome! Our waiter was super nice, friendly, professional, and tentative. You can never go wrong coming to Nick's. I don't know if I will be in the area again so I must give credit where credit is due! If you have been heee before you know I normally don't give 5 stars on the first visit but they deserve it! We sat at the bar and had dinner. Definitely suggest making a reservation. We started with the zucchini fries and the deviled eggs. First time having fried deviled eggs and they were delicious! The zucchini fries were hot and crispy and the ranch was also very good. Now the main attraction-what I came here for-the sea bass! It was delicious! One word: WOW. I went Nick's for the first time in March 2026 and had a fantastic experience. The service, including our awesome server Garrett who was super friendly and had great recommendations, was impeccable. From appetizers to dessert, the food was sensational- we had the deviled eggs, meatloaf, sirloin, and the bistro plate. I would recommend all of it and can't wait to go back- the food was impressive! A trendy upscale eatery on the Belmont shore district in Long Beach. We visited there on a Friday a bit after noon time. Parking was a bit of a problem as the area was really busy at that time of the day. The place was almost full by the time we walked in the door. Luckily we got seated almost immediately albeit it was outside seating. It was a bit noisy as it's right next to a thorough fare. Order was taken soon after we were served hot water with honey and lemon. We tried 3 varieties of their sandwiches, a crispy chicken, a filet magnon and a grilled fish. The filet magnon was served with a cup of soup and a salad. The meat was done properly albeit a bit small in size. The crispy chicken had piles of greens, cheese and sauce on a sesame bun. The chicken was crispy but a little blend. The accompany French fries were very good. The grilled fish sandwich was probably the best with lots of fresh green, sauce on a large round slight toasted bun. It came with a baked bacon Brussels sprout as a side dish which was excellent. Overall service was very good. Servings were generous but just a bit pricy. Might visit again when in the neighborhood. read more

This is my fave restaurant in Long Beach! The food is always solid and the Cioppino is straight out of San Fran! I also love the prime rib dip! Drinks are amazing and the service is ALWAYS five stars! Chrissy and Yannel are some of my favorite bartenders but you can't go wrong with all of the staff here. Ambience is upscale but also Long Beach relaxed. Street parking is always accessible and it's located in the heart of beautiful Belmont Shore. I was craving a good cioppino and stumbled upon this place during my search. I got a spot right at the bar and was greeted right away. All of the bartenders/servers were attentive and kind. Cioppino was good...the bread was fresh and great! Parking: I was able to find a spot in the nearby residential area with no issues. There's paid parking along the street but why pay when there's a ton of free parking in the area with just a little bit of a walk. I want to come back and try more things on the menu. Had a wonderful meal at Nick's. The spinach dip may have been the best I've ever had. I want more! We tried the rib melt and the spicy rigatoni, both were delicious. We also had the butter cake. It was good, but not necessarily any better than some others I've had. The only downfalls of the restaurant were it was super loud inside, so we'd only ever go if we could get a table outside (which we luckily did), and the kids menu is only told verbally and they don't tell you the price up front, so we were shocked when my kid's dinner was $19. At that price I might as well had ordered her an adult portion. Will definitely go back if I'm ever in the area. read more

review from october 2023: the perfect celebration spot! i'm not very familiar with the belmont shore area, so i hadn't heard of nick's previously. my husband (fiancé at the time) received a generous gift card to nick's from a client and we were super excited to try something new. we decided to use the card to splurge on an anniversary dinner (11 years dating, 1 year engaged) so i made a reservation through opentable. we parked a short walk down st joseph ave and were seated within moments. it was a warm october night so we didn't mind sitting outside. 2nd street is a bustling and busy place, so keep that in mind if you don't like that type of atmosphere. the waitstaff was incredibly helpful in offering drinks and appetizers based on our initial picks. my husband chose a pint of the draft honey blonde and i enjoyed the tequini (tequila blanco, passionfruit, lemon, agave) the drink was exactly as excellent as imagined - wonderfully tart passionfruit and lemon with a subtly sweetness. appetizer: our appetizer of choice was a plate of the lightly fried devil eggs. this plate will rate as one of the best things we've ever eaten. the combination of textures, flavors, and temperatures made this dish uniquely interesting and delicious. the egg whites are lightly fried and well seasoned with a hefty pile of cool, creamy yolk on top. each egg half sits perched on a structural piping of the egg yolk mixture so that each piece sits upright. each piece is then finished with a pile of crispy, crumbly bacon and chopped chives - simply divine! we seriously contemplated ordering a second plate. entree: i appreciate that the dinner menu is brief; i believe that this speaks to the confidence of the offerings and the talent of the chef. after mulling over the options, my husband chose the bistro plate consisting of a petite filet mignon and an all-dressed baked potato. i ordered the baby back ribs accompanied by a bistro salad and french fries. these meal choices gave us the best of everything! we shared some of my delectable pork ribs: the meat was fall-off-the-bone tender and basted in a sweet, smoky, sticky barbecue sauce. i sampled some of his filet mignon: perfectly medium and perfectly seasoned. it was tender, juicy, and everything you want in a high-quality filet. he ate my french fries and i ate his baked potato: we were both happy with swapping starches. the baked potato was fluffy inside loaded with butter, cheese, sour cream, and chives tucked into a crispy skin - it reminded me of a jacket potato. the accompanying bistro salad was such a fresh time-out from the rich meats and sides. the ingredients were well chopped and dressed. dessert: to make sure we used every cent of our gift card, we finished our meal with two desserts that each met our personal pleasures: my husband ordered the warm butter cake and i chose a slice of lemon cake. my husband loves warm desserts, especially served à la mode. the warm, sugary cake is dense, indulgent, and so buttery. served with vanilla ice cream and a warm berry compote, you do not want to miss this excellence. the lemon cake is an eight-layered behemoth of tart beauty. each cake layer is nestled between tangy lemon curd with an outer smear of vanilla buttercream. this was the most incredible lemon dessert i've ever had. we might have to come back soon, possibly for our upcoming 1-year wedding anniversary. since eating at nick's in october 2023, we've reminisced about this meal so many times! the staff were so kind the entire night, checking on us and making sure everything was satisfactory. they even gave us a sweet congratulatory card with our dessert. we highly recommend indulging in a delicious and exciting date night at nick's on second! read more

I walked by this place last time I was in town. It seemed to be extremely popular, so I made a reservation the next time I was in town. When I arrived I was quickly seated on the patio. It was a bit bright and warm. Once the sun sat it was much more comfortable. Several things on the menu looked good but I ended up going with the fried chicken. It was enough for two people to share. In fact, most of the plates I saw come out had big portions. My entree was very good, and the chicken and biscuit leftover made a great breakfast sandwich. I had the butter cake for dessert. I've been to Nick's in Pasadena before and had a great experience. However, Nick's on 2nd was something else. I came here for a work related lunch with one of my favorite clients and had the best experience with our server, Jonathan. I ordered the Center Cut Filet with mashed potatoes and it was so tasty! It was done right. I also ordered an espresso martini which was great along with some spicy margs. We ended the lunch with dessert which was also good! I would come back here in a heartbeat because of the service we received with Jonathan. He was attentive, knowledgeable of all the entrees and drinks (my client and I were so indecisive on what to get and Jonathan broke it down and gave us recommendations) and was super patient about it! Anytime you come here to celebrate something, they gift you a congratulatory card signed by the staff. It's a simple gesture yet so thoughtful and makes the entire experience even better. My client told Jonathan I just moved into a new place and the card was to wish me a happy housewarming. How cute is that? Lol. I parked in a public parking spot about a block away. I've always wanted to try Nicks on 2nd. It was perfect timing that my friend who lives in the marina area invited me out to celebrate my ongoing birthday. I'm so glad I'm here and it's such a pretty day! Hosts and staff right off the bat so friendly and courteous. I'm a fan of the old fashioned if you didn't already know so enjoyed their fig old fashioned. Yes! Perfect. We started off with another favorite of mine, spinach dip. It's a large serving and comes with salsa and sour cream. A bowl of chips were brought out before we hit the bottom of the first serving. Chilean sea bass was on my radar. Cooked perfectly and was flaky and buttery. Garlic sautéed spinach and mashed potatoes were good. My friend had the friend chicken and raved about it. I'll have to come back for that since I was getting full. Birthday treat came out a beat after we were done with our meal. The timing of the food coming out was perfect. The restaurant seems a bit dim but I think because it's so bright outside - windows all the way around since there is patio seating. I would love to come back in the evening for the experience of its night service. Parking can be tricky. The establishment was quite busy for a Tuesday afternoon but the dim candlelit room had a very cozy ambiance and wasn't too loud considering the crowds. There were some big winners on the food side. The butter cake was just as delicious as I had been told before visiting. The berries and ice cream and crunchy bits of sugar really made this dessert a winner. On the appetizer side, the fried asparagus was also delicious. The deviled eggs were not great. They had a heavy breading on the egg whites that was not very pleasant. The filling had lots of chunks which was super weird and unexpected. The bistro plate and cioppino were winners on the entree side. The chicken picatta lacked any seasoning and was just a super greasy slab of fryer oil. The sauce on top was equally flavorless which was super disappointing. I visited Nick's on 2nd on a Saturday afternoon. The restaurant was quite crowded, as expected, and parking in the area was a challenge. I parked in the residential area behind the restaurant. For appetizers, we ordered fried devil eggs and spinach and artichoke dip. I never seen the bottom of an egg deep fried for devil eggs before but it was delectable. Spinach artichoke was also another hit. It was really good. For lunch, I ordered the Bistro Plate, which included a petite filet mignon, a petite bistro salad, and the soup of the day (French onion). Unfortunately, the steak was poorly seasoned and had an odd taste. The salad was just okay, but the French onion soup was too salty. After two spoonfuls, I couldn't eat any more. Luckily, I don't have high blood pressure because the sodium was extremely high. My brother ordered the center-cut filet and found it similarly disappointing, describing it as bland. However, my father ordered the ribeye melt sandwich, which he absolutely loved, calling it one of the best he's ever had. For drinks, we selected bottle service and went with the Cabernet, Impetuous, which was enjoyable. I ordered their butter cake for dessert to go. However, I had their ice cream and compote there. I usually don't like compote but it was very good and sweet. I warmed the butter cake at home. While the top layer was just average, the bottom layer of the cake was really good. My brother ordered desert wine- Taylor Fladgate. I took a sip and it was actually good. I'm not a fan of sweet wine but it was enjoyable. Overall, the experience was a mix of hits and misses. We live in San Diego and my wife was introduced to Nick's located in Carlsbad. She raved about the food and service. Fast forward and we did a fun weekend stay with friends and family in Long Beach. We saw they had a Nick's and booked a reservation for 6. I had the ribs and it was a wow. The rest of the group had the salmon, ribeye melt sandwich, sea bass and everyone raved about their meals. Nicks on 2nd is a nice restaurant in the heart of Belmont Shore. It is located on a corner and has a lot of exterior windows which gives a great view of what is going on outside. Parking can be a challenge but we got lucky and found a metered spot right around the corner a little before 5pm on a weekday. There are also several small public parking lots nearby. They have an outdoor patio as well as seating at the horseshoe shaped bar and booths and tables in the main dining area. There is a lot of nice woodwork inside on the walls and ceiling as well as a small fireplace display right when you enter. There are also interesting lighting fixtures over the bar and dining area. We sat in a comfy booth facing the entrance which gave a great view of the whole restaurant, bar and outside. We skipped appetizers and went straight for entrees. I have been on a mostly carnivore diet for a few months and have been eating 90% red meat so sea bass sounded excellent in order to have something different. I ordered it with the caper mustard beurre blanc sauce on the side, and a double order of the garlic lemon spinach skip skipping the whipped potatoes. It looks like a small piece of fish in the picture, but it was a decent size and cooked perfectly. I dipped a little in the sauce which was excellent. The spinach was also cooked perfectly and tasted great. I ate about half of it, but would have devoured it all if I didn't want to deviate too far from my current diet. My girlfriend ordered the local market salad with a side of salmon to add some protein. The salmon was cooked perfectly well done. The salad was great and had a good variety of ingredients. After having two salads recenly with undercooked bacon, this bacon was perfect and crispy. Our server Christina was friendly and took good care of us. The menu is fairly small but it has a great variety of items. They have a great wine list and plenty of house cocktails. We would definitely return when in the area. read more

About the food it's good, I like their steak what was offered at lunch was top sirloin, super tender and tops are known not to be, I enjoyed it very much. If you haven't gone, go at least once. Everything! Well, let me start from the beginning. From the moment we walked in we were greeted with an amazing smile from The hostess (obviously with the mostest). Once we were seated our amazing waitress, Lauren stops by to introduce herself and asked what we were wanted to drink. However, we were hungry and ready to order. My husband and I thought we were ready and Lauren provided us with some options and we took a gamble on her recommendation and, YES! They were delicious. I ordered the petite steak, salad and soup (delish) and my husband ordered the rib eye sandwich. Let's just say the conversations minimal because we were busy enjoying our food. Lauren stopped by several times to check on us and we didn't stop chewing but we signaled we were good. After a few deep breaths we thought we were done and Lauren made a final suggestion on dessert.
