I was interested in the restaurant because it was recently refurbished. Was I ever sorry! The food was positively disgusting. I ordered the hot turkey sandwich with mashed potatoes and my husband ordered the cajun burger. The potatoes were definitely from a bag bought at the dollar store. The food arrived cold. To the touch. After we waited 40 minutes with just one other table seated. Once I called the waitress she asked me if I wanted a fresh plate or to have it reheated. I asked for fresh. It took 3 minutes in total for the "new" plate to arrive. It was so disgusting I will not even continue. The cajun burger was equally nasty - no seasonings and the blue cheese was grey. This place is a diamond in the rough. We browsed the menu before we got there and when i saw the disco fries/poutine i knew we had to try them. We were there a little before noon on a wednesday and we were the only ones there which was lovely. The fries came and they were crispy & piping hot. They were so good!!! We then decided on burgers- and so glad we did. I forgot the name of my burger but it came with mushrooms, swiss and a homemade truffle aioli- holy smokes was it good! i added the onion, tomato and lettuce that came on the plate. i'm not sure i've had a better burger ANYWHERE!! the fries were huge and hand cut, perfectly done. Not a soggy fry to be seen. Hubby ordered the western burger, came topped with a great sauce! it was amazing. Both meals came with a delicious half sour pickle. They should have taken some of the over $ 200,000.00 in free taxpayer money and trained the staff.We arrived at 730 pm waited until 800 before waitress greeted us 3 tables of 3 people were already served.We ordered at 815pm at 825 my son got a bowl of soup at 845pm I got my clam dinner at 850 pm my wife got her salad.At 915 pm my wife got her pork chop dinner my clam platter was almost gone, the clams and fries were cooked in same basket the fries were done but the bigger clams were raw uncooked breading yummy.The pork chops were good .At 945pm my son still hadnt got his chicken parm. We told the waitress to pack the meal to go 15 minutes later we got his meal but forgot the salad.While waiting for our meals 4 new tables were served before we got the parm.On the bill it says 2.81 for credit was still charged this on debit.First and only time you will see anyone I know or myself at this poorly ran establishment.Try training cook to prepare 3 meals to be ready at the same time waitress need to be aware of customers both need to put down phones and pay attention read more

I am looking forward to returning to Nicks Diner to work my way through the entire menu. We were a group of 5 hungry adults on a Sunday at 5pm 10/4. We started with the cheese curd appetizer with spiced honey. Perfectly cooked curds in fresh oil and tasted so yummy in sauce. The Nicks Burger was perfectly cooked, high quality ingredients and large enough. The fries seemed homemade. The chili burger was exactly as described and delicious if you like sweet Chili, which I do. I am a big eater and the serving size is plenty. Andrew was our server and he is fast, sincere and just perfect. Plenty of homemade desserts to select from by the front door but we were too full. The decor is fresh and very comfortable and the price is right...$65 for 5 meals, 1 drink and 1 appetizers plus tax and $3 credit card fee...pay in cash to avoid the cc fee. Went in on a Sunday around 1 pm with 2 of my friends, we sat at the bar because there were no tables available. Took the waitress a few minutes to acknowledge us and give us menus. I ordered the mac & cheese burger, one of my friends ordered the pancakes from the all day breakfast menu and the other friend ordered the open faced hand carved turkey sandwich. As we waited for our food I looked around and it looks very nice in there since the remodel but I soon noticed that all the waitresses disappeared. Since we sat at the bar you can see into the kitchen and the window ledge where the put the plates of food for the waitress to pick up and I noticed that there was 4 plates of food that had been sitting there for 10 minutes or so (so the food must've been cold by then). Finally the waitress came and picked up the food and brought it to the table. We waited what felt like to long for 3 simple dishes. Finally I notice my burger and friends pancakes are up on the ledge so the waitress gave them to us after a minute or two of them sitting there. So now two of us have or food and we're waiting for our other friend to get his food. After 5 minuets of waiting for his food the waitress asks the kitchen if its coming out and since there's a window to the kitchen you can here what they were saying. The chef was saying that they never got the order ticket for his sandwich. (So there must've been a problem with the computers or something). Then the chef says that they're out of turkey anyways. So now they finally tell us that they're out of turkey so now he has to order something else. So he orders a different sandwich and they get it out as fast as they could but now since we've waited for his food to get to him (since we originally thought his turkey sandwich would've been right out behind ours) our food is now cold. My hamburger was nothing special in taste and my friend only got 2 pancakes when on the menu it says 3. They only took the soda off the bill of my friend with the sandwich that the messed up on. Thought about trying out the delivery but with seeing the food wait and the lack of hustle I can only image how cold the food would be by the time it would get to me. Definitely wont be open again long if they keep the bad service. Probably wont go back. read more
