No joy with Kamala!

Nick's Diner deserves a boost! This is a neat and tricky place to find. My ham sandwich was badly burned, but I think I came at the end of the day and there were numerous tables dining inside and out. Happy waitress. Chefs talking liquor in the very tight kitchen. Really neat table top and a nicely placed cooler with cakes and pies. The fillings of my sandwich were tasty, but like I said the bread was left to burn *black*on the griddle. Extensive menu that includes shrimp, pasta, pizza, salad, wraps and a nice cluster of desserts and drinks. Make sure to-go orders are not left to burn. Review: 4

Amazing service and food. After a long week of 12u baseball we stopped in after checking out and was provided excellent service, large portions, and great tasting food.

Everything is always delicious. One of my favorite places. Great Staff. Breakfast or dinner

I ordered the French dip sandwich made with thinly sliced ribeye and fries, I got a steak-umm sandwich and soggy fries

I've had the French dip sandwich a few times and it was always very good made with ribeye steak This time I got a steak-umm sandwich on soggy bread with cold fries soaked in oil when I asked for chips, I couldn't even eat it. I'm very disappointed because I always craved this sandwich but I'll never go back. Not only was the food bad, the floors were filthy and the cook kept swearing

I will start this, as I always do by saying that I do not give out five stars, unless I am really blown away. This diner was very nice on the inside it seemed rather small outside, but it was decently large. The waiter was busing tables in the only waiter in the place he had a lot of tables and did his best to take care of everyone. He was a very good server. The food was OK nothing to write home about. We got the appetizer platter which came with onion rings, mozzarella sticks, and a couple other things. I wasn't expecting much as it's just fried food. I also had a Ruben that was pretty good, but it didn't blow my mind. I will definitely eat here again and give it another try as I saw some other food that came out that looked really good. Overall, it was a good dining experience, and I will return.

In town for CASV and decided to give Nicks a try. Not going to lie the yelp reviews did scare me a bit. But I do like to be my own judge so I decided whatever what's the worst that can happen. Glad we tried it because we LOVED Nicks! We went three times in the week that we visited. The burgers and sandwich I had were so good. No one in my party had a complaint. The service was really fast every time we were there. We probably would have been there more had our trip been longer. If we're ever in Oneonta again we'll definitely stop by.

We were there with a very large group of children and parents. Nick's diner probably doesn't get a full house in the early morning on a weekday since there was only one waiter and one chef working. I just want to say thank you for taking care of us. I know it is really difficult to accommodate a party of 30+ people at one time. We really appreciate your service. Now the food. This is what we ordered! Country Fried Steak - The dish came with a steak, scrambled eggs (my choice), biscuits, potatoes, and sausages. The beef had a nice layer of breadcrumb. It had a nice crunchy texture on the outside and tender on the inside. The beef was so tender that I could cut it with a butter knife. The sausage, I've never had a breakfast sausage like this before. It was juicy and flavorful. The biscuit was airy and fluffy. The real star of this dish was the gravy. It was rich, creamy, and aromatic but not overwhelming the base flavor. It complimented the beef and biscuit really well while elevating the entire dish. French Toast Platter - It came with french toasts, scrambled eggs, potatoes, and sausages. I love the french toast here. It was thick but fluffy. It was custardy on the inside with buttery crispy edges. Personally, I didn't even need syrup! Again, props to the waiter who was taking orders, running the food, providing service and props to the chef who was preparing the food all by themselves. We really appreciated it! Hopefully, I'll have a chance to come back here again.

French toast with homemade bread was awesome. Veggie wrap was awesome, according to my friend. Home fries could have been better. Service was great. The ambiance was cool - still kinda felt like a railcar, and they have 100s of baseball pins along the wall.

4&1/2...WING FOCUSED REVIEW...2 of 2 transcendent chicken experiences I was lucky to have on the…read moresame day on my recent trip through Oneonta, where I had attended college for my first 2 years some 20-some years ago. When doing some recon through town I inquired to a local about where I could find the best wings and he immediately named this spot. This jogged my memory back to my college days and the fact it was similarly known at the time. as well as that it was just a little removed both physically and culturally from the college scene and more of a strictly locals place. I took said locals advice and stopped on over and before even entering the place I was very glad I did. My eyes lit up at the awesome converted old train depot setting from which it gets it name. Inside was a welcoming warmly lit interior centered around a handsome old bar which I sidled on up to. My stomach still quite full from my feast at Brooks House of BBQ that afternoon I just ordered my drink and a single order of wings in the house specialty "garbage sauce" an umami rich amaglamation of various sauces and they were nothing short of magnificent. Perfectly proportioned and flavorful crisp on the outside and moist and juicy on the inside. A delicious reminder of how much better in general wings are upstate than back home in the City. I savored every bite. The meal was made all the more enjoyable by striking up an enjoyably meandering with a gregarious Vietnam vet proud grandpa seated beside me and were both well served and treated by the lovely bartender. Much of the other food I saw being brought out looked quite tasty as well but what really caught my eye was the super thick square cut pizza, which seemed to be on most every table. It seems to be a relative of both the nearby regional vartieties of the Old-Forge style pizza found across the PA border near Scranton, and the "Hot Pie" of the greater Binghamton/Tri-Cities area even closer afield. More than enough to spark some serious intrigue in a pizza freak like myself and a top priority for me to order when I hopefully get another chance to visit here, of course alongside another order of those incredible wings.

A party of 4, having made reservations, we went on Valentines Day (evening). We weren't informed…read morethat they had a different, much smaller menu with no provision to order from the normal menu. Three of the four meals were fine. Unfortunately my husband order the 10oz NY strip (an eye popping $28!) He thought he was playing it safe by ordering it medium. When the waitress brought his meal out she said she was waiting for him to cut into the steak to make sure it was to his order. Good thing because it was the rarest piece of meat we'd ever seen! Raw inside! She took the steak back and had them put it back on the grill (her words). Unfortunately when it came back out nearly 20 minutes later after the rest of us had already started, it was still barely medium rare! She offered to take it back and put it back on the grill (again!) but he was so frustrated he told her to leave it and he'd take it home and cook it himself. Sadly after cooking the next evening the majority of the meat was either fat or gristle so the 10oz steak ended up to be about 3oz of edible meat! We've been to other restaurants where an entree has been l poorly cooked, etc. and in each case the restaurant has always comped the meal. The salt in the wound was the waitress only offered to comp our dessert (just my husband and I!) Instead of rightfully comping the $28 meal they comped a $4 dessert. Our experience wasn't bad enough to keep us from going back but we'd definitely recommend to the restaurant that, if they're using a special menu they should've made sure to advertise that or let us know when we made reservations. Additionally, in an obvious screw up like this, always comp the meal!

Earlier today I came in and wasn't sure what drink to order, and the owner (I assume) was super kind even though I was walking in 15 minutes before close--he asked me if I was thinking maybe something cold and caffeinated (it was a hot day! In the 80°F-90°F range!), to which I said yes. Then he asked if a latte might sound good, to which I said yes again, and asked if they had any flavors--he listed each one, and I chose mint. It was great! I'm not really well-versed in coffee, but I am well-versed in deciding if things taste great, and this mint latte was one of the best tasting lattes I've had anywhere (I'm from Queens and go to a LOT of cafes). He also mentioned they had Caribbean food; today was jerk chicken and curry chicken, and there was also rice and beans as well as plantains. I asked for the jerk chicken and plantains, and he gave me a huge box of all of the above because I mentioned I was super hungry. The owner was very kind and conversational, and service was quick and professional. Also in the cafe was a group who said they were a chess club. They told me they meet on Thursdays and Saturdays at 6:00P.M. in Capresso. I haven't played much chess before, and they said they also teach! They were all also very kind. Overall, Capresso is a super cute cafe and the food and drink I ordered were amazing. I finished the latte really quickly because it was so good. I'm definitely planning to go back.

The show white hot chocolate was very unique and frothy and the iced latte was AMAZING. We got the gallo sandwich and while relatively small, the dressing and flavor combinations really bring it together nicely. Only thing missing was the ambiance - dead silent but great seating area. Would be a great place to work/study.
