However, Best part of the food was the flourless cake.

It used to come in cubes, and was an awesome addition to Hot Open Veggie. I couldn't eat it. Where is the tempeh burger? It used to be so delicious. I was going to come twice in one day to get both. I ended up leaving after my disappointing meal, the first one I've ever had at The Autumn. Can someone pay some attention to what has kept that place open for like forty years? I guess not.

When doing some recon through town I inquired to a local about where I could find the best wings and he immediately named this spot. This jogged my memory back to my college days and the fact it was similarly known at the time. as well as that it was just a little removed both physically and culturally from the college scene and more of a strictly locals place. I took said locals advice and stopped on over and before even entering the place I was very glad I did. My eyes lit up at the awesome converted old train depot setting from which it gets it name. Inside was a welcoming warmly lit interior centered around a handsome old bar which I sidled on up to. My stomach still quite full from my feast at Brooks House of BBQ that afternoon I just ordered my drink and a single order of wings in the house specialty "garbage sauce" an umami rich amaglamation of various sauces and they were nothing short of magnificent. Perfectly proportioned and flavorful crisp on the outside and moist and juicy on the inside. A delicious reminder of how much better in general wings are upstate than back home in the City. I savored every bite. The meal was made all the more enjoyable by striking up an enjoyably meandering with a gregarious Vietnam vet proud grandpa seated beside me and were both well served and treated by the lovely bartender. Much of the other food I saw being brought out looked quite tasty as well but what really caught my eye was the super thick square cut pizza, which seemed to be on most every table. It seems to be a relative of both the nearby regional vartieties of the Old-Forge style pizza found across the PA border near Scranton, and the "Hot Pie" of the greater Binghamton/Tri-Cities area even closer afield. More than enough to spark some serious intrigue in a pizza freak like myself and a top priority for me to order when I hopefully get another chance to visit here, of course alongside another order of those incredible wings.

She was so friendly and welcoming, and you could tell she really cared about the restaurant. She told me her parents have owned it for 21 years. I was craving a chicken sandwich, so she recommended The One Stop. She nailed it. The chicken was juicy, the breading was light, the bread tasted homemade, and that melted mozzarella was so good. Everything tasted fresh. I honestly ate the sandwich way too fast. The pasta salad was also really good... I could've eaten a lot more of it. She even came back to check how everything was, and I gave her a thumbs-up with my mouth completely full. It's a clean, welcoming place with a huge drink selection, but the hospitality really made the visit for me. Thank you to her and the whole team for making a random stop during my trip such a good one. If I'm ever back in Oneonta, I'm coming here again.

OK. Maybe 21/2 stars.. Since it has opened, my husband and I have been there approximately 8/9 times. For breakfasts, lunches and one dinner. When you enter the diner is is so pretty. Beautiful woodwork, clean restroom. Attention was paid to detail when they remodeled. Great job! When you enter the diner there is a sign that says to please be seated. We had seated ourselves in a back corner once and nobody noticed that we were even there. After about 20 minutes we had to get up to let someone know we were there. If you are going to have customers seat themselves, maybe you should have a bell or an electronic sound that lets the staff know that there are customers coming in. Or maybe , someone could seat you. When it is very busy, it takes a while for someone to see you probably because all other tables are full and you go unnoticed among the throng. Also the waitress/waiter sometimes dont look to see who is new sitting down. Usually enjoy breakfast the most. Lunch is ok , dinner not bad (although even though there were only 2 other tables with customers and 2 wait staff, we waited over 40 minutes to get served and dinner brought out . ALL of the times we have been there, the service is very slow, but probably not waitress/waiter fault. I think the kitchen is slow also. It is so understaffed. Each time we have been there for breakfast only one waitress was there. She was running around so much I am surprised she wasn't very overwhelmed. (Then again, maybe she was). She is busy waiting tables, the counter, and taking orders from the boss. Have waited almost a half hour for lunches to be made. And was missing item from plate that I never received. We have also noticed (mostly at breakfast) that the person we think is the owner sits at the counter with a ball cap on, and always looking down at his cell phone. He should take more notice of his customers, staff and everything in general. Would be nice if he took a stroll once in a while and greeted customers. Maybe even he could seat customers so he is aware of where people are sitting and just how busy his wait-staff is. It almost seems as if he could care less about staff and customers. And he should definitely hire more wait staff. Parking is atrocious! Trying to give the benefit of the doubt and will probably try Nick's again. Hopefully from all of the other reviews, it will improve. If the service was better, and wait staff not so overwhelmed, I could have given this diner a possible 4 stars. read more

Went here with my husband and 5 year old on St. Patrick's Day for a late dinner. I ordered the creamed chipped beef on rye toast. The portion was huge, was served with mashed potatoes(which weren't very good) and mixed vegetables. The cream gravy was so full of black pepper that I was sweating. I was only able to eat about 4 bites. My husband had ordered lasagna which I tried myself. Unfortunately, it was almost tasteless. My daughter ordered breakfast for dinner. Pancakes, bacon and homefries. Her dinner was delicious! Our waitress was very kind, but slow and we watched other patrons come in after us and have food before we even had our drinks. Ordered food yesterday. Had it delivered....missing something on the order. Friend called very politely and the girl whom answer hung up on him after talking to him for a minute. We called back and spoke with "the manager"....complete egg head....was rude and refused to bring the rest of the order because the girl whom took the order got it wrong...not the customers fault right? The rudeness was unbelievable. He called us the niggers looking for stuff for free. Not sure where all the racist comments came from...but holy cow. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone!!!! At the end, we waited again for the check, and when my daughter calmly tried to explain our frustration, the server spoke over her and said, "I'm almost 50--I've been doing this since I was 17," which came across as rude and unprofessional. The food was good, but the lack of communication, attentiveness, and management involvement made this a disappointing experience.
