My fiancé and I attended Doubleday Cafe while on a day trip to Cooperstown. I ordered the Fried Haddock with Coleslaw. Fries were A'La Carte. My Fiancé ordered the Reuben which is supposed to be one of the Best dishes this restaurant serves. When The dishes came out, I noticed the Reuben bread was black. My fiancé who never complains about his food told the waitress that the corned beef was very dry. She said she would tell the cook. Nothing else happened. No one, came to apologize, offer a different dish or take off the bill. My fiancé went to the kitchen with no result. He finally went to the bartender who said it would be taken off the bill. The fish was not overcooked, but not in a fish shape like I'm used to. It was just OK, nothing outstanding. The service was slow but they were busy. Will probably not go back again. read more

Took the kid here before a game at Dreamspark. We got lucky and were seated right away. Very clean and the staff was very friendly and helpful. Bonus... Bathrooms were very clean as well. I got the special which was the breakfast quesadilla. As always, I also got a side of corned beef hash. Breakfast quesadilla was out of this world. Perfect portion for breakfast. Good amount of cheese, egg and sausage. Must try if they have it. Corned beef hash, I wouldn't get again. Average at best. Just seemed very dry and "crumbly" is the best that I can explain it. It's not a very big space, but we didn't have any issues getting a table. The prices are good, and the service was great. We shared a yogurt parfait that featured a ton of strawberry slices and honeyed granola chunks. They have some combo meals, and the French toast, bacon and eggs were all satisfactory. Great food, great service. Wasn't expecting anything spectacular but the Cuban sandwich special was phenomenal! Kids got burgers which were excellent. Wife had a creamy chicken soup which was also great. Close walk to HOF, perfect lunch spot before, during, or after a visit. Cool vibe inside with the old school baseball decor. This place is so quaint! I came here with my boyfriend (also known as my date in my other reviews) and my date got the goddess sandwich. He says it wasn't bad. I got the butternut squash and bean enchiladas which was absolutely delicious. I also had the Reese's ice cream pie which was overwhelming. Definitely good if you like chocolate and Reese's. The service was speedy and friendly. I would go back here and get the enchiladas again. They have some decent vegetarian options. read more

It's a really cute cafe walkable from the HOF. Lots of memorabilia. It was completely full I think little leagues were in town but we were seated right away. It's small inside but quaint. Staff were very nice. Food came out very fast like immediately after getting our drinks. Everything was yummy. Their fries dipped in their honey mustard - delicious. I'm actually shocked that I walked out before the waitress brought out drinks. Two of us were ready to order our food when the waitress came for our drinks. She said she couldn't take our food order at that time. She had to go to other tables first? I've never experienced such service. She could've easily take the food order and submitted it-as we only had two items. I then went to the bar as I saw two empty chairs and thought maybe we could order food more quickly. Two bartenders and not one acknowledged me as I tried to get their attention. Had to walk out. Busy weekend with baseball tournaments-I get it, but could be a little more accommodating. read more

Popped in after a visit to the HOF - it was VERY busy but luckily 2 spots at the bar opened up so we snagged those. For a tourist spot in a tourist town next to a major attraction I was VERY pleasently surprised. Some beers on tap - good cocktails. Both me and my husband got burgers and they were VERY good. This was a great spot for our families and 12U ball players to have lunch. Great food and amazing service. Our waitress Rebecca was superb and loved to talk with us and teaching us the proper names of the local towns. Even entertained us on our weird request for fry sauce. would not recommend this cafe. The waitress was extremely rude. We came in and were seated. she gave us menus and walked away. A party if three gentlemen came in right after us. The same waitress asked for their drink orders. Never asked us. She brought their drinks and then asked for their meal order. Stopped in on a rainy day in Cooperstown and walked through the door right at 11:00 AM. We were told they were "transitioning from breakfast to lunch," and while they could seat us, they wouldn't be able to serve food until 11:30 AM when lunch officially started. Honestly, I've never seen anything like that in all my travels. Just a 30-minute sit-and-wait policy. It's a strange and inconvenient way to handle a meal transition, especially when you've got hungry customers ready to order during a busy tournament week. Son and I arrived before the Hall opened, so we decided to have breakfast before. This is right up the road from the Hall on Main Street. A small place, but they actually have a full bar inside. My son got the Sunrise Sandwich and I had the Smoked Ham and Swiss omelette. We both liked our choices and they were just the right size to hold us over until our next meal. I tried to beat the crowds on Hall of Fame weekend. I got in late morning. Breakfast had just ended. I like breakfast but I had breakfast already at the hotel. I choose a Reuben sandwich and enjoyed the company of three young local men who were finishing their breakfast, drinks and nursing their hangovers. Yeah this place is pretty much perfect. At least for breakfast which we had twice while in Cooperstown. Service is great and the food odd top notch. Real cheddar cheese, fresh eggs, and maybe a small thing but the absolute best toast I've ever had. Alcohol is also a nice touch if you need a bloody to start your day. read more

It is a small, tight space as they are trying to get as many tables as possible in. We waited about 15 minutes to be sat, but this was a Saturday in the summer - so Cooperstown as a whole was very busy. Visited on our trip for our son to play at Cooperstown. The people are still very nice and the atmosphere is great. The food is somewhat average. My son's burger was burnt and they fixed it right away. Our server did share that the regular cook wasn't there so that could be why the food was sort of bland.
