Great service and amazing food. We went on a Thursday when all of the other restaurants where closed or closing by 8pm and glad to have somewhere to go. She had a steak (very reasonably priced) with garlic mashed and asparagus. A traditional dish done to perfection. I had the roasted Cobb salad and omg was it really good. I added steak to it and enjoyed it, but the dish did not need it and would have been fabulous without it. I met friends here for the first time to hear a musician we all like. It's over an hour from my house, but definitely worth the trip! I ordered a specialty drink that was really potent but unique. I'd get it again sometime if I wasn't driving. For dinner, I ordered the Tuscan Chicken. It was outstanding! Lots of yummy flavors in that dish! I ate till I was full and took the rest (about half) home. Today, I reheated it and it was even better the next day, if that's possible. Another full-size meal, really. Definitely worth what I thought was a high price for a chicken dish. I think it ruined me for trying anything else there, because I will definitely go back and I will get that every time. Simply put: OUTSTANDING in every capacity. I have so many good things to say, I don't even know where to start. Just got there. The service is prompt, knowledgeable, friendly and thorough. Our server checked in on us several times, which was really great. The food is extremely fresh, creative, and really expertly prepared. I have had excellent vegetarian appetizers, salads, and entrees while others in my party had meat and seafood, and we were all delighted. When I think of the best cocktails in this area, I think of B-Side. Margaritas with no crappy mixers, just good tequila, fresh lime juice, and agave. This is the gold standard. Had a steak special here during my sorority formal and it was SO good that when the waiter asked me if I wanted dessert, I ordered another steak. Their drinks here are great. It's worth being a bit pricey. The toilet was clean as well. The second time I came back because the steak was so great from formal, but the regular steak dish that was available was not nearly as good. I came to also support a performing group. This place is great because there is always live music. I really love the ambiance of this place and how I can run into professors here. I like that this is a place that doesn't serve underage kids and is a respectable place that professors would show up at. I love the food! The wasabi dip for fries is phenomenal. Excellent place. Went in with my wife, son and his wife for a quick drink before our planned dinner place opened. Sat at the corner of the bar and ended up staying through dinner. Nice sized room where you can see the whole place from anywhere. The bar has the liquor nicely displayed on glass shelves with soft blue lights. The bar is new oak. We were the only people in the place at 4:30 and had the bartender to ourselves. She was extremely helpful and good. They seem to squeeze a lot of lemons, most likely the bees knees which is what my wife had and loved it (gin martini with lemon and honey). Dinner consisted of the specials we saw them writing on the chalk board when we decided to stay. Two had the shrimp and cherizo and loved it. The others had the filet/ mashed/asparagus. Very tasty (only issue was that I ordered it medium to be safe and the middle was light brown, generally it should be at least pink). Anyway, the apps were especially great, calamari was just a little spicy and perfect, fried green beans were just as advertised and the gorgonzola stuffed figs wrapped in bacon were pretty good. All in all the drinks and food contributed to what was a great night with family. We will be back. read more

When I walked into this place I was thinking this place is going to be great. The atmosphere is fantastic, the Jazz band was great. The waiter said everything on the menu was his favorite. They passed a hat around for tips for the band. Now let's get to the food. For an appetizer we orders buffalo cauliflower and calamari. The buffalo cauliflower is fantastic, the calamari was great. For dinner I ordered a Cuban sandwich. It came with a dried up pickle see picture below look at the dark spot on the back (old pickle) and the pork on the sandwich was very salty. The B-Side is great. Everyone from the staff to the clientele on this particular Saturday night were fun to be around and very friendly. I was impressed with their drink menu, they had something for everyone; lots of classic cocktails and then ones that were specific to this venue. I swapped between vodka drinks and champagne and the bartenders were super attentive and outgoing, exactly what you want when you're sitting at the bar, in my opinion. There were people in their 50's and 60's and then there were people in their young 20's. It was a mixed crowd, but it wasn't rowdy. The young crowd in here may have been college students but they were civilized, you know what I mean? The bar was swanky, dark and lit up with blue lights highlighting what kind of booze they had on their shelves. Apparently they serve food here too, we came for drinks only but after scanning the menu we would definitely come back for a bite. My favorite part about the B-side were the two kids spinning records, THEY WERE AMAZING. Or at least the music they were choosing was amazing. I'm 27 and I have always loved 70's Rock and they played 70's and 80's music all night long, it was THE BEST. These kids were young, I would guess maybe 15, 16 years old I could be totally off but that would be my guess. It looked liked their parents were there guiding them on what songs to choose next and they did a phenomenal job. Each song was better than the one before it and people were dancing, I mean I was dancing and having the time of my life and I am not a dancer. I really enjoyed the atmosphere of this place. We went after snowmagang and there was a lively crowd and a band playing. The wait staff was incredibly friendly and the service was fairly quick even in the busy bustle. The menu looked extremely promising and maybe I just picked the wrong item. The chicken sandwich with fries was just lackluster. It was a good sandwich but not a great one. The chicken was juicy but pretty flavorless. The fries (mind you I'm incredibly particular about fries) weren't what I enjoy. They were lifeless, not very crispy or tasty. I needed ketchup on everything which isn't a good sign because I only use ketchup in emergency food situations. My boyfriend on the other hand enjoyed his mussels. We split a plate of nachos to start which were fairly good except I'm pretty sure they used canned nacho cheese which is unimpressive but that is up someone's ally I'm sure. I'd absolutely go back for beers, but I'm on the fence about eating the food again. read more

The first past is very important because good places don't always last in this area... i suppose I could improve on the variety in the beer menu and the live music, but that is kind of nit- picking. A-side entertainment, food and service! My siblings and I were on vacation 20-minutes from Oneonta and figured hit a local bar, maybe grab dinner. We ended up very happy we picked B-Side. They had a singer/songwriter night, where 4 talented guys took the stage and alternated leads. Wayne the owner stopped by to chat with us. Erica behind the bar was attentive and sassy, two cherished qualities in a bartender. The food was terrific, especially the caprese chicken sandwich and pot stickers. Reasonable prices. Man, I wish the food was better here. It's just so mediocre--but there's not a lot of competition if you want a nice cocktail with your meal. The pasta dish is too oily and bland. I got the flank steak salad once and it was delicious--the next time the steak had been so hot it turned the lettuce into a cooked mess. Bizarre combinations in their specials--peaches and mushrooms or something. Sweet potato chick pea flatbread? They don't have to improve anything, unfortunately--there are so few options in Oneonta. Meh. I get what they're trying to do and really do appreciate it (Oneonta needs a place like this), but I'm not sure the execution is right. I've been a few different times and I appreciate their large selection of drinks, but as a bartender myself, I'm not sure that the taste is spot-on for the few that I've tried. One particular martini I ended up giving to a friend because the alcohol to other ingredients ratio was way out of proportion and I couldn't sip on it anymore. Food wise, they're okay. Pricey for the area, but I'm more than willing to pay more for a better experience and higher quality food. However, I don't think I quite got that. I ordered their scallop special and was very excited. The server ended up bringing out everyone else at my table's food and told me mine was almost ready. That was fine, no sense in the other plates getting cold while mine was still being prepared. Except it took 15 minutes. Everyone else was done eating by the time my food came out, which was frustrating. I was even more frustrated once I realized how small the portion was. I always have leftovers when I eat out, but not here. They gave me four tiny scallops and a few vegetables for the side. I was still hungry when I left! For a $16 dish, I expected a little bit more. Service left more to be desired. On this particular day, it was a slow evening with maybe two other tables. She didn't really know the answers to any of our questions and had to keep coming back and forth to the kitchen to find out; we could tell she was getting frustrated with us so we just settled ourselves without asking anymore questions. Brought my food out really late without much explanation or apology and never asked how anything was. TL;DR: Place is decent if you want to feel like you're not in Oneonta for a couple of hours and pay extra money to have an only "okay" meal. I'll skip it when I'm in town. read more

This is absolutely the best place to eat and drink in Oneonta. That, of course, is not saying much, but B-Sides singlehandedly made Oneonta a place where it was possible to go out with adults (as opposed to drunk frat boys), have a good beer or a well-made drink (you know, you can order a Sidecar and it will be good), and have good food. And they have a good variety--you can get something standard like sirloin tips with asparagus, and they are made perfectly. But also (unlike anywhere else in the area) you could get some small plates like the tuna ginger poke or the Moroccan vegetable stew with couscous, and they are also done right. Oh, B Side, how grateful I am that you exist. We had a very nice meal and a nice time at the B Side in April 2015. We made a reservation online, though it turned out that we really didn't need it. Still, the ability to make a reservation is a nice touch, for those nights when they may be crowded. We sat at the bar for dinner, because, when somebody else is watching your kids, that's what you do. I wish we'd gotten the name of our bartender, because she was great (for reference, she was pregnant, if that helps place her). Very conversational, but appropriately so. She offered drink recommendations and took the time to go over a number of menu items with us, as we kept wavering. And, when the food arrived, it was very good. We had a burger and the mushroom risotto. Both definitely worth ordering again. read more

I have been here several times. The only downside to it is sometimes their dishes are way too pricey for what you get; however, other times it is adequate pricing. Either way the quality is always great and the specials board is always changing. Their specialty cocktails are excellent, beer selection so-so. For one it didn't taste like filet and two, why would you destroy a filet by making it into ground beef? I can't say enough great things about the B-Side ballroom. We took it over for the night for a rehearsal dinner with 40 family members the night before a wedding. We only heard raves - no complaints (unusual for a group that size). Wayne, Rebecca and staff were amazing. The food was fantastic,(the lettuce/caesar appetizers really went over), the service impeccable. The owners were so nice and accommodating. The atmosphere of a music venue, stage and supperclub was so perfect. Our only problem is we are 9 hours away and can't make it a regular place to dine. read more

Went to dinner with family last night ... the b-side salad DeLicious , dates wrapped in bacon so good, and the bbq brisket sliders with thier special slaw was perfect the little bit of sweet potatoes fries that they served with the sliders yummy.They also have a good selection of beers, and cocktails, but not do much on the dessert. But the choice they did have was scrumptious the bread pudding outstanding and the vanilla ice cream with expresso was good, the flourless chocolate cake was very rich (dark chocolate)but good.......I want to go back tonight it was that good. read more

My son took me here for my birthday and I was very pleasantly surprised. The food was fresh and excellent! We were there on the night they featured a live jazz quartet, and not only was the music excellent, the acoustics are expertly done. I was able to eat my dinner and enjoy a conversation without shouting to be heard. The owner went around visiting with customers (as every owner should). While at Cooperstown for a baseball tourney, we were looking for an upscale place to get away from baseball for awhile. B-Side was perfect! The food was outstanding, the service was perfect and the music was amazing!! The Wild Forest Mushroom Risotto was delicious and they even paired it with an amazing steak that was on the special list for me. The steak was cooked perfectly and paired so well with the mushrooms. My 15 year old had the fish and chips and loved them, hubby had a special, but I cant remember what it was! I do remember he cleaned his plate though! Drinks were original, but not too crazy.
