I have to say, this place is pretty cool. I liked it so much, I went twice while in town for a work trip. The space is large, the service is good, the drinks are good, and the food was well above average. Getting inside is way easier than expected, just, pull the very visible door knob. I sat at the bar both times for 2-3 hours while consuming food and drinks. Would gladly and easily come back next time i'm in town. Definitely recommend. read more

We have been here a dozen times, but this is our first review.. its our go to spot. I'm from the Hudson Valley and my girlfriend lives in Long Island and we have both spent plenty of years behind the bar in a different life... small, simple, but diverse menu and every dish is fantastic... An amazing selection of bourbons and and an atmosphere that is incredibly unique. This is not just our favorite place in the southern tier, This is actually one of our favorite restaurants, although we always sit at the bar lol. Our bartender Steven was fantastic coming from retired bartenders. Very engaging but knew when to give us space. attentive to all our needs most of the time we didn't even have to ask... he might be a mind reeder... my go to drink is the old-fashioned and this one was exceptional. Do not go without ordering the chicken nachos.!!!!!! oh and on your birthday you get to pick a special gift from the surprise briefcase. read more

Simply magical and delicious, how this place manages to be so chic and yet incredibly cozy and comfy is the pure genius of the concept. We sat at the bar and received top notch attention and got to see our bartender's absolutely flawless skills at making the magical concoctions that we happily imbibed. The food was good, next time I hope to sit at a table so will reserve ahead but we had a lot of fun and felt very relaxed and happy thank you to the staff at 205 Dry we will be back ! Loved this place not a lot of options for a nice bar scene thru a secret book case. You get the idea it's a speakeasy and the cocktails were great and the atmosphere too...we have the Caesar salad and Brussels sprouts which were crispy and the jerk chicken special was great and love portion read more

205 Dry - Speakeasies Near Me - Binghamton, New York

I don't know that I've ever been to go to an establishment, but I enjoyed quite much, like genuinely! The door handle hidden in the books in the vestibule. This looks like a bookstore from outside. I love the vibe when you walk in. It actually feels like a speakeasy. You have to open a secret door when you walk inside the lighting the decor is all phenomenal. We did have to have a reservation as the place is completely booked on a Friday night, even the bar was too capacity. We were seated right away as we had reservations, the nice part about the reservations as well as you could text them to get those reservations. We had dinner prior to our reservations, so we didn't get a chance to try the food although the menu that was in a folded binder was lit when it opened a very cool little feature. The drink menu could've been a little bit more extensive for their specialty drinks, however, they had what seemed like hundreds of liquor options for you to make your own or to choose something on the rocks. Our server Nate was excellent, he suggested and recommended different drinks for us, he also brought over a little cheesecake because it was Amanda's birthday this week. Just an outstanding location vibe service experience. All of that. We would highly recommend it and if we're back in Binghamton, we would definitely go. If I lived in Binghamton. This is the place I would bring all of my guests to. Would we go back, absolutely, so much so that we are hoping or would love to see this in our hometown read more

Excellent food, great ambiance and service from waiters. Don't feel the extra charge for ice cubes with 205 on them is appropriate considering our meal with drinks was well over two hundred dollars and closer to $300.00 with tip. Had it not been for the ice cube upcharge, I'd give them five stars. read more

205 Dry - Bar and spirits collection - Speakeasies Near Me - Binghamton, New York

Was in from NC visiting with friends and made reservations at 205 Dry. The place is set in a Speakeasy theme with a rather cool entrance door snd facade. The menu is varied and should satisfy whatever you require. Our party of four had Chicken sandwiches and Tenderloin sandwiches. Both were very good but as I had the Tenderloin sandwich, I can attest to, it was the very best steak sandwich I have had in a very long time. The service was excellent and the place is eclectic and comfortable. This is one place that we will revisit next time we are in town. The only issue is the lack of parking, especially on street....other wise excellent restaurant. read more

Great experience once we figured out how to get in the front door :) Food and service was great and so was the atmosphere.

As a lover of speakeasies, I was delighted to find this one in my new city of residence. The store front looks like it's a bookstore but behind the bookcase, is one really beautiful place to enjoy some of the finest drinks and food! We were kindly greeted by the hostess and door man. Everyone working at this establishment sort of dresses like they are back in the prohibition era. It's a nice touch. The hostess advised us that they put a two-hour limit on tables. It was packed by the time we left there so we understood why. Loud music plays a mix of old songs and jazzy remakes of pop classics. The food offerings are very casual (handheld sandwiches, fries, burgers). They also had one pasta dish and a filet mignon on the menu. The meat and cheese board was probably the fanciest thing on the menu and it did not disappoint! It was beautifully presented, and generous in portions and variety. The drinks are where this establishment really shines! We got to enjoy some Johnnie Walker Rare Ghost whiskey as well as some of the craft cocktails. Our server Garrett took great care of us. We look forward to returning. read more

Had a dinner event for work. Food was outstanding. The apps, dinner, dessert, all exceeded my expectations. Two gals ran bar and served food, they were both great. If this event is a reflection on restaurant, which I assume it is, would definitely recommend. I left feeling mgmt cares and knows what customers look for in a night out. read more

Finally got back here to try the food. Wound up getting the chef's special filet mignon with carrots after starting off with a caesar salad. WOW! The steak is as good as any other in town, and you can't beat the ambiance and friendly service. It always feels like you are in a different era in here. Can't wait to get back. read more

Can't begin to explain how much I love it here, between the amazing food and crafted cocktails, I've been about 4 times in the past few months and just find myself to keep coming back. The staff is absolutely amazing super kind and very knowledgeable about their whiskey selection (which is huge for me). I love the looks inside and out of this place, the menu is great and so is the selection! Staff even came over took a selfie with the whiskey that I had which was awesome extremely friendly and funny 100/10 for service. read more

This review has been a long time coming. 205 Dry is by far the BEST restaurant / bar in Binghamton. The food is delicious, meticulously crafted by the head chefs and owners, garnished well and plated beautifully. The drinks are the real star of the show here, a consistently rotating menu with new seasonal drinks as well as well loved classics such as the Espresso Martini and 205 Old fashioned. You can tell that 205 thinks of just about everything when it comes to their service, from the wide array of adorable (and yummy) garnishes that compliment the cocktails just right, to the names of the cocktails that are very clever and unique. Additionally, the service is 100/10. All of the bartenders are personable, knowledgeable and extremely competent at their jobs. If you are unsure of what you want to get to drink, ask your server or bartender what they recommend and you are sure to end up with the drink you never knew you needed. The service is obviously prioritized and food and drinks come out very quickly, as well as being acknowledged by the staff as soon as you walk in. Finally, the decor and vibe of 205 is something you don't come across everyday, ESPECIALLY not in Binghamton. The tables and bar are decorated with candles and fresh flowers, the plates are eclectic and fit the speakeasy ambiance perfectly. The ambiance (amongst everything else mentioned) is one of the main reasons I decided to have my wedding reception hosted at 205 Dry. My reception went off without a hitch! The coordinating staff and owner Alise were extremely attentive and ensured the process went smoothly from start to finish. I cannot say enough good things about this place. I'm sad to be moving away from the area and will miss this restaurant dearly. read more

We had so much fun at this place! Right after I read about it on line, it was recommended by a construction worker at the Binghamton Airport, my Uber driver, then the nail tech at Tommy Nails- all within a couple of hours of each other. I'm from Milwaukee, so I don't know the area that well. My boyfriend was impressed with my investigative skills b/c this is his town and he had no idea about this place. We had such a great date night here, every single thing was delicious, the cocktails were awesome and we cannot wait to go back! In the year and half we've been together, this was our favorite meal so far! It doesn't matter if you have no room for dessert- get it anyway! Share one! Great job, guys!!! read more

(Once you're in the initial front entryway, pull the left bookcase towards you!) Hopping place! The kitchen is open until 11, so we got in under the wire late on a Friday. We were in a corner of the cute back room where it's actually easy to hear each other speak. Two excellent drinks--Girl Crush and a Rosemary's Baby--and a mocktail (a tall pretty drink with slices of fresh strawberries in it)--we all loved our own order. The Prohibition burger is tall and scrumptious and I've NEVER had better French fries. Have a reservation! read more

Absolutely amazing place! The ambiance is beautiful. There are so many different liquors to choose from, and their mix drink menu is exquisite. 205 Dry - Cocktail menu - Speakeasies Near Me - Binghamton, New York

Visiting from Kansas City. Folks told me I HAD to experience this. I arrived three hours before closing. Well dressed, well funded, sat at the bar. No greeting, no eye contact, no service. Couldn't interrupt the three busy people behind the bar, who were more focused on one another. Only four of us sitting at the bar. Please tell me that this isn't a New York thing... and that I'm just accustomed to the kind and friendly people of the Midwest. You can do better, 205! read more

Walked in and was instantly hit with cool, mysterious vibes it felt elegant and intimate. We sat down, and the first thing I noticed was the seating: a bit firm, but still charming in its own way. The server was incredibly kind, and the bookshelf detail added a thoughtful, cozy touch. The light-up menu? Never seen anything like it super unique. Now the food... unreal. I had the filet easily the best I've ever had. The lady went with the Caesar salad, and she couldn't stop raving about it. Truly an unforgettable meal. And with that, I'll pass it to the lady to close it out. read more

Cute hole in the wall. Literally. Good food and drinks. I love the theme. Service was quick.

I have been here twice and both times the food has been absolutely delicious. If places like this were around when I lived here maybe I would have stayed longer (Definitely not...) The region aside, this restaurant is doing everything right. The ambience is both intimate and comfortable. The decor is absolutely gorgeous, and the staff are are knowledgeable and friendly. And the drinks - some of the best I've ever had. Do yourself a favor, if you're in the area, just go. read more

Make sure to make reservations ahead of time!! This was the first time I ever went to a speakeasy and I instantly fell in love from the entrance all Arne way to the bathroom. Every single crevice of this place is covered in historical decor and the staff members matched even dressed according to the theme of the restaurant. For someone that does not like the strong taste of alcohol, I highly reccomend the mistletoe. It was a hint of thyme and cranberry. My friend ordered the pasta & blue and it was definitely the best dish we got that day. I got the prohibition burger and it just tasted like a typical burger. The fries however, were AMAZING! It's perfectly crispy and seasoned on the outside and soft on the inside. We also got brussel sprouts as an appetizer and it was baked perfectly. If I were to come again, I'd definitely get the pasta and a side of fries. It is a must try! read more

Continues to be an amazing experience every time I go. The food is good. The drinks are awesome. We sat at the bar this past visit and even though it was busy and we were asked to slide seats to make room for another group, we were never asked to leave, as my friend and I visited for a long time. I really appreciated not feeling rushed or pushed out. Highly recommend to anyone who visits Binghamton. read more

205 Dry - Speakeasies Near Me - Binghamton, New York

By far the classiest place in Binghamton (except, perhaps, for the newcomer awkwardly trying to find the entrance!). There's really nothing like it. This speakeasy takes the best of Antique Row and turned it into the highlight of the bar scene. Whether you're a local finding this place for the first time or stopping by while traveling, this is the place you have to try. The ambiance alone is all the reason you need to come visit this place. A perfect recreation of a 1920s speakeasy with gorgeous ornate decor under candlelight. The gorgeous glassware that completes every liquid masterpiece. The incredible liquor wall behind the bar. It's a major vibe. The drink menu is extensive including seasonal cocktail specials up to the highest class wine you can find. All of them are a piece of art. But I especially want to give special mention to their mocktails. They have four on the menu and all of them are a knockout, but especially the Peach Dream (sweet and creamy) and the Devil's Delight (pineapple with a kick of cayenne). I'd love to see them add more, or at least a rotating seasonal special, but I truly enjoy them as is! As for the food, it's pretty good but considering this is mainly a drinking spot, the food menu is limited. That being said, everything I've had here is delicious whether it's sharing a big cheese board with friends, poutine, pickle fries, or their entrees. I usually come for drinks but the food will not disappoint, either. They have space available for event reservations and are also affiliated with Uncorked Creations up the stairs, where you're allowed to grab a drink and a paintbrush alike! Some tips: Call ahead or get a reservation. This place is always packed, especially on Friday nights. You can definitely try for a bar seat, too. Also, while street parking is available it's limited. There are some cheap garages nearby (and one of them has free EV charging). read more

Thank you for finally responding 4 months later - although every single point you brought up is untrue and fabricated. It's probably been too long for you to remember: No, you didn't replace the dish, no drinks were comped, we didn't use any condescending vocabulary, and more. You immediately seemed very aggravated by a patron that wasn't happy with their meal, which is a normal occurrence in a restaurant. Perhaps because our skin color is different, and spoke different than you and the other patrons? read more

Come for the "speakeasy" vibe. Stay for the yummy food, fabulous ambiance, cool music feed, and very reasonable prices.
