    Lobster Roll
    Min Z.

This restaurant is closed for the season mid Oct - mid May so be sure to check the website before you go. No reservations available. Beautiful view of the lake and tasty food options. For the tables down right next to the lake, it can be very chilly so bundle up when you go. But tables on the patio have heater and can still enjoy the lake while eating. Small parking lot in the back, and you first walk through a shop with its merchandise. The lobster roll is filled to the top and ask for extra toasted if you like the crunch. All the food is packed with flavor and portion is generous. The only subpar part is that the chicken is too dry in the Cobb salad. Would come back in the next fall season

This place was recommended to us by the owner of the hotel where we stayed in Cooperstown. This place was worth visiting for the view, but the food was just so-so. It was mostly bland. Honestly we were disappointed with the quality of the meal compared with the spectacular view. Papas Bravas in particular needed more seasoning and sauce.

Arrived for an early dinner around 3-4pm on a weekday. This place is easy to miss with a little sign, sharp driveway turn, and then very little additional signage about it being down the meandering gravel driveway at water's edge. However, once you master the navigational challenges, you're rewarded with generous seating and table options along the water with umbrellas or a covered porch or a completely indoor bar. The menu leans toward seafood with not-to-be-missed huge chunks of lobster claws on salad or pasta. Coconut shrimp appetizer or make it a meal with coconut rice or sriracha French fries. Entree portions are very filling and could result in leftovers or be enough to share based on your level of hunger. Flavors were fresh and spot on for everything we had while visiting, including some nice local beer and cider options. A few options are available for vegans and vegetarians as well. Meals will come in around $20-$40/pp with drink and tax. Service was friendly, helpful, and always nearby when we needed something.

Love this spot on the lake. Great choices of food. I kept seeing everyone get the shrimp wrap but I wanted a chicken and they did it with bacon and Caesar salad -- so good !! My family all enjoyed their meals as well. Great location and very kind staff. A little shop inside too!

In Cooperstown, NY on Labor Day there isn't much open for dinner. My wife & I are very happily the Blue Mingo was! They asked if we wanted to sit outside by the water & we were both a resounding yes. Eating dockside is a great experience on a warm & gentle night. We had a crab cakes appetizer which we both found very tasty. My wife had a lobster roll & fries which she remarked were very good. I had lover in a fettuccine cream sauce. The lobster was plentiful & tasty. The fettuccine was pretty thick & it could have used more sauce but those are minor quibbles. I enjoyed it very much! It's a seasonal place so so I don't know how much longer it will be open this year but it is well worth visiting if you are in the area. Pro tip The restaurant is down at the bottom of a hill not marked well. Just look for the folks coming out of a building with to go boxes!

Nice place to stop for lunch when out and about Cooperstown. The lobster salad was amazing.

Because our room wasn't ready at our hotel, my son and I were recommended this place by the hotel's front desk. Well, he gave us a great recommendation (especially how to get there, because the entrance is easy to miss). Great views of the lake (see my photos) and decent food. The Sweet Chilli Brussels sprout appetizer was excellent (first time I've eaten chimichurri). My fish tacos were decent, but not close to ranking with those in the San Diego area (not many places do). My son said his chicken club sandwich was solid. The best part of our visit was the Cookie Sunday from the dessert menu, it was delicious! Our waitress was awesome and gave us her honest opinion of various dishes on the menu. A well varied menu has just about anything one would want at different price ranges. A good stop for us for dinner.

    Beautiful view

Ask the Community - Blue Mingo Grill

When does it close for winter?

Not sure but most locations start to close after Labor Day. You can always call them.

Are dogs allowed when dining outside?

If the weather is nice, we have a great selection of tables down by the lake which are great for visitors with dogs. If the weather is not nice, we do ask that only service dogs come along as our seating becomes limited.

There is a bar as well as booth seating but no direction or indication of waiting to be seated or seating yourself. I didn't want to go unnoticed so I sat at the bar. (Most of the tables are past the entry way and bar area). There was a family group, a few couples and a group of guys playing darts off to the side. I sat there for more than five minutes before I was even acknowledged. I know this because I could see the Guinness Countdown to St Patrick's Day (down to the second) from my seat. There were 3 girls behind the bar but one seemed to be doing most of the bar work. As I put on my jacket to leave, I finally had the attention of one of the girls so I decided to take my chances and stick with my dinner plan. She got me a menu and asked for my drink order. There weren't any hard ciders on tap but they did have canned Awestruck (local). I noticed the fried pickle appetizer and asked her about it. She told me they were spears and very popular. I decided to take her recommendation and ordered them, along with a Cooley's Handmade Burger with sautéed mushrooms and swiss cheese. My pickle fries came out first since they were an app and I can tell you two things about them...the portion was huge and they were absolutely the best I've ever had! Not long afterward, my burger arrived and that was really tasty as well. I opted to bring the rest of my pickles home and I can tell you that even the next day, with the help of the air fryer, they were still tasting great! I am so glad I stayed!

Both times I have had a good experience. The hotel (really it is a motel) is well maintained - clean and functional. We had piping hot water and our room had a mini fridge. The front desk was friendly and we didn't have any issues. The restaurant was great. They accommodated us for breakfast and dinner and were consistently good.

My new slogan for this hotel is "Stay Away, or Stay Awake!"…read more This overnight stay at the Lake Front Hotel was an absolute nightmare. They recently remodeled the exterior, and the adjacent restaurant is pretty good, but each room looks outdated and poorly designed, where they think hanging a colorful photo of the lake is going to make any difference. You'd think they'd have a modern theme, but it was helplessly outdated. There are no cups, no water, and zero personality or hospitality! Some of the hand towels were so old the edges were frayed. The linens were rough, possibly a two thread-count. There's no iron or ironing board in the room! When we asked for an iron, the nice guy in the office said we had to bring our clothes to the office! Wait, what? He allowed us to use this little dark storage backroom to iron our clothes. It was very strange. The point of having an iron in the room is that if you're not sure what you're wearing the next morning, you can iron something else instead at your leisure. With this scenario we had to take four shirts to the office just to have a back up shirt ironed in case one of us wanted another option to wear. The smell in the bedroom was reminiscent of mold, smelly socks, and dirty carpet. Just so unbearable I had to spray cologne in the air just to cover up the smell. The noise from the upstairs was unbearable. I'm writing this review at 1:30am and people are still walking around, and galloping upstairs, and you can hear every footstep and every floorboard creek. At one point earlier tonight, I had to turn around to see if there was someone in the actual room because it sounded like they were right here. When we called to make the reservation, the woman said we could request a second floor when we got here. But why not honor our request when we're requesting it? Why defer us to the time of arrival, where we were told no as if we'd asked for a suite at the Waldorf. We paid $325 for one night, and it will be the last penny they'll ever see from us. I'm giving this establishment two stars because it's a little better than a motel in the middle of nowhere, in the desert, with Jeffrey Dhalmer in the next room. I mean, seriously. What's the point of having a "Lake Front" hotel, if all your guests want to do is jump in the lake and drown in misery!
