Outstanding! I came here for dinner and I was very very pleased with my experience. My wife had the eggplant Parmesan and I had the chicken marsala. Both were absolutely fantastic. I also ordered the sardine appetizer on a lark and it was really really good. I never thought sardines could taste so so good really really enjoyed my experience. Also the tartufo for dessert --unbelievable. Service was incredibly friendly and welcoming and the dining room was cozy and very modern looking. just a fantastic experience. We've eaten her two years in a row now on our visit to the HOF. Their service is amazing, Stephanie was our server and she couldn't have been better. The food is fresh and amazing. I had the chicken Milanese this time and it was the best I've ever had. This atmosphere is casual to fine dining, but if you're coming from the museum you'll be fine. Nice little place that was busy. Told it was a favorite of locals. We were able to get a table but they asked if we minded being done in 1 hour and 50 minutes since all tables were full and needed them for later reservations. Not a problem. Service was very good except waitress couldn't not find wine list, but knew wines by glass and many bottles along the wall behind the tables. The bread comes out warm and is so good with a tasty dipping oil. Started with the burrata that came with some mango, pear slice with some cinnamon and red pepper, so good. The veal sorrentino was very good, very large, soft and tender, covered with a tasty tomato and cheese sauce. Did not have room for dessert. This small restaurant truly exceeded our expectations--everything was spot on! The food was delicious and the service warm and welcoming. I had the Roasted Long Island Duckling, which was outstanding--perfectly crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside. My only suggestion would be to serve a bit less sauce or offer it on the side to let the duck shine even more. My husband ordered the Rack of Lamb, and we were pleasantly surprised by the generous portion. Compared to what we've had in California at the same price, it was nearly double! Dinner was PERFECT! After a Thanksgiving weekend of meat and potatoes (which I love!) we wanted Italian food. Toscana was just what we needed. The pasta bolognese and angel hair with grilled shrimp and scallops was off the charts. Seafood salad was the perfect balance of lemon, oil and vinegar. Even the bread was outstanding. Such an excellent meal! This has to be best food on our trip and at Cooperstown hands down. We had a bottle of moscato, a steak, the biggest (I kid you not!) chicken parmigiana I've ever seen, and their duckling. Everything was absolutely amazing. Service was good as the last time, set up table outside, but food (3 stars) was amateur prepared. They tried to accommodate and change fixing the angel hair to al dente but garlic was put in raw - twice killing the flavour of the scallop and shrimp dish. A quick pan fry on your skillet takes 2 mins! I got the duck which was deep fried and was dry. There was a nice sauce, mash potato, bread was fresh. This is the finest restaurant in Cooperstown. It's tiny, so call ahead for reservations, otherwise dining there will be hit or miss. The food is exceptional. I have dined there several times and have always been very pleased with flavor and presentation of all my dishes. The place is tastefully decorated with wine bottles lining the walls. Music is quietly playing in the background set at the right volume so you can still enjoy conversations with your friends. The service is excellent! We dined there two nights ago and were warmly greeted and thanked for dining there upon entering. I loved that! Dan, our server was attentive and knowledgeable. He also asked if we wanted appetizers or desert aside from the bread and olive oil offered. Another server approached to ask what perfume I was wearing. The young lady knew the brand right off the bat and I filled her in on the name. That tickled me pink! The restaurant is pricey and it is more expensive on season, so if you want the rack of lamb, be prepared for the $45 charge. But it's a great dining experience from beginning to end. We had a very satisfying dinner here. We made a reservation for 7 on a Saturday and we're seated within a couple minutes of arriving. The complimentary bread and herb-infused oil was amazing. Dom said the calamari app might have been the best fried calamari he's ever had. The batter was light, the calamari was super crispy, and the marinara sauce was also fantastic. We ate the lobster ravioli (came with a giant slab of burrata yum!) and the veal sorrentino. Both were delicious. Dom raved about the limoncello cake that we had for dessert. Bustling delicious restaurant! Huge portions so you might consider sharing. The bread and oil dip they give you are fantastic. It is seasoned very well. My mom raved about the Greek salad. I enjoyed my haddock special but my dad's penne bolognese was really to die for. It was so rich in a good way. I felt like it had really been cooked a long time and well seasoned. My sisters eggplant parmesan was also delicious. Honestly I just ate the leftovers cold and it was still delicious. Toscana Cucina Italiana is an Italian restaurant that opened in Cooperstown, New York in 2012. It was founded by chef Antoine "Tony" Pepaj. Chef Pepaj immigrated from Breckoc, Kosovo to New York City and has spent over 50 years perfecting his cooking through recipes he has created and restaurants that he has run. He has run a number of restaurants throughout the state of New York, including La Finestra. At Toscana, the menu is focused on Northern Italian cuisine with dishes like Lobster Ravioli, Chicken Scarpariello, Fritti di Mare, and Osso Bucco Milanese. My wife and I visited Toscana in April 2016. We were on a road trip to Niagara Falls, but stopped in Cooperstown on the way in order to rest up and see some of the local tourist attractions. We arrived in the early evening and had no dinner plans so we walked along Main Street to see if there were any good restaurants. Toscana is conveniently located right across the street from the National Baseball Hall of Fame. We looked at the menu in the window and decided to stop in. The staff were able to accommodate us very quickly. My wife loves seafood (especially scallops) so she ordered Grilled Shrimp and Scallops served on Penne. It was dressed in a simple sauce made from Chardonnay wine and lemon juice. She really enjoyed it! I decided to order a more unusual dish: Frog Legs cooked in a red wine sauce and served with a side of Mashed Potatoes and Steamed Vegetables. Frog legs aren't exactly what comes to mind when one thinks of Italian cuisine, but I later learned that they are a common dish in the northern regions of Piedmont and Lombardy. They were very tasty! Dinner last night at Toscana. Overall I'd give it a 7. Part of our experience was hampered by a party of 12 or more. Loud and vulgar conversation where the atmosphere does not absorb any sound d despite its quaint decor. Wine list expansive and very good. Cesar salad excellent. I defaulted to chicken parm which was very good but not remarkable. My husband had the bolognese. Not typical. Meat heavily braised in what tasted like wine very dark. Nothing like any bolognese we've ever had. Not for us. Service was very kind and attentive. I would give it another try. My husband would not. I've been to Toscana a few times and have never been disappointed. The atmosphere is cozy and the service is great. The waitstaff has always been helpful in answering questions or even making recommendations. But it's all about the food. The best veal chop I've ever eaten was at Toscana. Their steaks are outstanding. I've had their scallops and shrimp multiple times and it was perfection every time. I even had ostrich and loved it! (It's a lean red meat, by the way). AN excellent wine selection as well. I've had a couple of different salads (always fresh) and some great desserts. Toscana is my one of my favorite restaurants! read more
