Well. The bfast was pretty good. The link sausage they have is really good. Standard breakfast with a gorgeous view. However, that view was tarnished by one awful bartender who acted like it was a chore to serve us. His demeanor was off putting and his comments about tourists being in the area was condescending. The bartender from NC was awesome and he made the experience better once he arrived to work. Based on the basic food and pretty awful service, I wont recommend this place to future visitors to the area. read more

We were here for our friend's Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony. The town was closed to cars but the parking lot for this restaurant miraculously had one spot open. They gave us a pleasant seat with a lovely view of the boats and lake. My spouse ordered fried shrimp and I chose the grilled haddock. This review is for the bar. We just spent three days at the lakefront hotel, and went to the restaurant a couple of times. Both breakfasts we're fine and I'd go back for that. The problem was we went to the bar two afternoons in a row and the bartender is a total jerk. His name is Xander and he didn't even welcome us when we came in and sat down at the empty bar. Once he finally got around to serving us he didn't even say hi or smile. He treated us and the waitresses like crap. The next day was no better, he slammed our drinks down on a wet bar and splashed us with the beer he hadn't bothered to clean up. We couldn't drain our glasses and leave fast enough. Daryn asked if we had a server and thought the lady who gave us water was our server but she then told us she wasn't our server. He was really sincere and actually genuine which is why I gave another star.. Our server Haily was assigned to us late, she was nice but super busy like everyone else. We asked to at least serve the kids meal since they were hungry but still waited over an hour. It was 8:40pm we didn't get our meals and was about to walk out then it came. We were starving so we just ate it. We were told The owner is the cook/manager and didn't even attempt to rectify the situation. However, another group from Cohoes that we met earlier kayaking told us he came out for them since their food was lacking and not good comped their meal. My sisters crab cakes were nasty from a can, which I didn't eat in the small portion on my seafood combo. They comped her meal which was actually the right thing to do. Slightly skeptical to come here based on the mixed reviews, but we had 0 complaints!! AMAZING view, without inflated prices to match. We came for Sunday breakfast and it wasn't very busy. Our service was very friendly, quick, and accommodating with a baby. Our food came out quickly and everything was delicious and decent portions. My omelette was filled with veggies. My friend noted that the hollandaise sauce on her eggs Benedict was homemade which she appreciated. We always had fresh water keeping our cups filled! Overall a great experience!! Not a bad restaurant. We ate here twice. Once for dinner and once for breakfast. Dinner was good. Breakfast wasn't special. I had their swordfish special and it was a little dry but overall tasty. Friendly and fast service. Food is awesome. Good portions, fresh ingredients and everything is cooked in healthy oils. Great beer selection. Courteous staff eager to make sure you are well taken care of. Alfred the Owner is a great guy. First visit we came on a rainy day and the inside was packed for lunch hour but the host went out of their way to find a seat for us rather quickly. The only reason why this review has 2 stars is because of Daryn's sincerity and kindness after our terrible time here. My sister made reservations at 7, and we didn't get seated until 740. Someone who I assumed was the waitress gave us water and that's about it. We were sitting there an hour until Daryn came to check on us outside. During that time- waitresses passed by without even a word to us, and attending to everyone else. We had two children seated in the center table waiting for an hour to even get our order and they were hungry. After sitting there for an hour they finally took our order and maybe 15 min later we get bread. No one gave us utensils so my kids had to try to dip there bread into the hardened butter. We had to call someone down to even give us utensils. Almost another hour passes by and just as we were about to walk out finally they come out with ours. (They serve my kids the food a little early than ours bc we specifically asked them to rush their order since the kids were hungry. ) the crab cake sandwich wasn't that good- it was lukewarm. We were sitting there so long and we were hungry so I did eat most of it bc we still had a long drive after. They comped the crab cake which was good but they should've done more. We were treated very poorly by most of the staff who ignored our table while serving and took care of everyone else around us except for Daryn. I felt discriminated against but I hope that wasn't the case and it's just poor communication and management. I really don't like leaving reviews like this but I have to speak the truth. Let's begin with the location. This place is Beautiful. Wonderful view of lake Otsego and right next to a Beautiful little park. If you come early the views are incredible...see photos. The service was great. The ladies that sat us and helped us with our lunch were cordial and nice... everything was great, and then the food came. We had lunch and we ordered the calamari appetizer, husband had the burger and I had the beer battered haddock.. didn't take pictures of the food because there are plenty on other reviews. The calamari were ok. Not crispy not soggy, somewhere in between.. just ok. They came with a saucy tomato sauce. Not thick enough to be a dip that's sticks to the calamari and not runny enough to be a sauce... no tartar sauce came with these, but a nice wedge of lemon was included. The burger was pretty, it looked good but husband said it was tasteless. Absolutely no seasoning at all. Bland, not memorable. My beer battered haddock was over cooked. The coating was way dark and it was completely unseasoned. I peeled the batter off and found the fish, which also tasted like nothing. This cake with a side of coleslaw, also had no flavor and some curly fries that are previously frozen and fried on site. We did not have drinks and it was pricey. I will most likely come back to this area again to enjoy lake activities, but I will not be eating here again. The view and location are beautiful. This place could be a "Home Run" if the food was good. It's a shame it's just ok. read more

Our waitress was excellent. The food was horrid. The fried green tomatoes appetizer was disastrous. They tasted as if they'd been deep fried numerous times and then microwaved before serving them to us. We could not cut through them, they had no flavor (except for grease) the toppings were completely non-sensical. Entrees were no better. I had beer battered haddock. The batter had no seasoning, and the breading did not adhere to the fish. My partners fried battered shrimp were also terribly unseasoned. (I think we both had the same batter) the frozen curly fries weren't crispy or good. I barely touched them. My blueberry Moscow mule was tasty and the beer selection was excellent. Had Lake Front Crabcake appetizer - excellent recipe, perhaps in the top 2 we've had, and we tend to check out crabcakes. Then for entre we chose the BROILED seafood platter. 2 Scallops were juicy, not like you typically get with seared scallops. 2 Shrimp were stuffed with crab, which kept the shrimp juicy too. The whitefish was perfect. A baked potato was just delicious. The accompanying veggies were guillotined and crisp but done and beautifully presented. The chef salad was very creative and more interesting the your common chef salad. For dessert we had Lemon Italian Creamcake which was delightful. We'd come back here in a heartbeat. read more

One of 3 waterfront restaurants in Cooperstown this one has been improving. The dinners are better than they had been and are good, not very good or excellent. The coffee still isn't up to par for the $4.75 charge. It's not dark roasted it's bitter roasted. Go to Stagecoach for coffee. Your paying a premium for the view not the food. Expect $50 a couple for breakfast. This is a very clean well maintained place with a great location especially if you like boats in a marina setting. If you want the view sit outside on the side deck or the front row of the front dockside patio. Don't be in a hurry service is slooow especially at lunch or breakfast. The wait staff is in no hurry preferring to chat instead of hustling to get your order. Bottom line, the view, service and prices are better at the Blue Mingo but they don't have breakfast. The Otesaga has incredible views better service and a special ambiance. I go there because I like boats and water when I have lots of time. read more

At here recently and it was one of the worst meals I've ever had. Both my dish and my husband were seafood and for a $30+ dollar plate had little actual seafood in the dish. Haddock was extremely dry, scallops were rubber and the 2 lonely shrimp we got were the only decent part of the meal. The steak was rubber as well. Gave this place a two stars because our server was friendly and attentive and the service in accommodating our family was good. I was very surprised to read the negative reviews. My meal (Haddock Sandwich) was DELICIOUS. The coleslaw side was one of the best I've had. The variety of choices makes the menu great for families with different tastes. The staff was pleasant, polite, and my meal came quickly. So nice to have a place to eat outside away from the chaos on Main St., have a view of the beautiful lake and watch the boats. I will definitely be going back. read more

(We stood 3 feet from the very busy host stand the whole time so no we did not miss them calling our name!) it is very busy so I get it, mistakes happen. Now we've been sitting here for 30 minutes and there has been no waitress, no drinks and a million flies around our table. Trying hard to find the bright side here: Pretty scenery on the lake and an attentive water filler! Update: been here just under an hour now, finally got drinks, one was just lemonade without the Jack Daniels which we sent back. The other is very weak as well. We got "1 lb. jumbo Buffalo chicken wings" per menu. There were 7 very small wings which were fresh and hot, but not spicy. Brown celery with that! Not worth $17. The million flies like it though. Our family stopped in for dinner after visiting the Baseball Hall of Fame. Hate to leave a bad review but it was really not very good at all and not worth the ridiculous prices. The servers were obviously seasonal help (college kids) but seemed very unsure of themselves- took a long time to get our order taken even though it wasn't busy at all. Every other table had been served rolls with butter upon being seated but after waiting and ordering and still not having any rolls (important for feeding hungry kids lol) I asked if we could have some and the server looked at me like I was crazy. Another server did bring us some but this was only a few minutes before the food came out. Our food was really nothing special at all and the mixed vegetables were horrible- way too much garlic, just couldn't deal with it at all, almost choked trying to eat it. Also, be warned- although the menu says kids meals come with a beverage this does not include milk (only fountain drinks) so your bill will have 3.50 added to it for each milk. We don't give our kids soda so this was very frustrating as they chose milk but only later were we told about the fountain drinks only. Overall I would not recommend this place to anyone. It was clean & safe but that's about all it has going for it. Stick to the eateries up on Main Street when visiting town- we had some fabulous food and service up there. read more
