A great little lunch place we found as we passed through on the interstate. Sarah our server was really nice and took great care of us. I had a Cuban, very well prepared, especially being so far from Hanava. The coleslaw was crisp and delicious, it appeared to be home made. A real dill pickle, and my wife had an equally delicious grilled hame and cheese on sourdough. After coming out of the restroom she commented they were spotless. Breakfast was as advertised, came out fast and delicious. Drip coffee was strong and hot, and came in the cutest cups! So glad to see they serve Clark's Chocolate Milk as well. This is a bright clean place right off of route 88. The service was very friendly and the food was extremely good. My husband had a Reuben and I had a chef salad. My husband said there was a little too much mayonnaise in the potato salad and I would've preferred homemade croutons but these are very minor criticisms. Would totally recommend this place and will come back again. read more

All amazingly delicious and plentiful. So we took our leftovers - and two boxes of baked pastries and a cake - on the road. To see the fall foliage turn red, yellow and orange before our eyes. This is a home style, comfort food, small restaurant in the town of Scheneves named after an Indian chief .The front and back of the menu display information about the Indian chief , his daughter and legends of their life . Everything is homemade,many dishes cooked to order . Pastries, pies, cakes, breads are attractively displayed. The menu is not fancy and features homemade soups, chili, salads, breakfast and lunch dishes, burgers, wraps, sandwiches, etc. I opted for the chili and was told it was mild and if I prefer more heat the chef would add more spice to the recipe when served. I enjoyed my chili ,topped it with onions and cheese which cost a bit extra with sour cream on the side . It was most delicious . My dining made ordered the California Reuben a sandwich of turkey swiss cheese , sauerkraut on Kimmel rye He said it was very tasty. His came with a side, many choices but he ordered the potatoe salad which was very creamy and tasty. Portions were good, food plated nicely. Hot food came out hot . Prices very reasonable. The restaurant was filled with customers, and was clean and neat. The restaurant is closed mid December to mid March and normally closed on Tuesdays. We love this place! It's the perfect little cafe for our small town. Most (if not all) of their baked goods are made in house. They have daily breakfast and lunch specials as well as a full menu of your basics, and some country gems like biscuits & gravy, which are delicious. I highly recommend stopping here if you're just driving through, or thoroughly acquainting yourself if you're from the area. Just beware of their hours. They close rather early and are closed on tuesdays. read more

Classic diner with your typical diner menu. Everything was simple, but executed perfectly. We had the Reuben, triple decker club and for dessert we had a Pecan pie. If you're ever in the this part of the country, give this place a try! read more

Decided to give the Chief a try for breakfast as my niece just bought a house around the corner. Inside was decorated nicely with history of the life of Chief Schenectady. Delicious baked goods. What a great find! While on a long road trip, we stopped by based on a Yelp recommendation. The menu is standard diner food, prepared well and served hot. The portions are large, the prices very reasonable and the service friendly. We liked it so much, we stopped back on the way home! Looking.for a bite at an odd time along Rt. 7, we came upon this treat. A bright, clean diner in the center of Cheverus, it's worth a visit. We got four different sandwiches, and all were above.average. The cafe was almost empty due to a nearby chicken barbecue, but the service was fast and friendly. We weren't up for baked goods, but they looked just yummy.The menu even taught us about the tragic legend of Chief Schevenus, namesake of town and cafe. With more trips to Ithaca before us, we'll be back! read more

so the place from the outside doesnt seems like much but when you really get the experience its great! the place smells like breakfast and the food is great. also if you have kids or whatever i recommend the mickey mouse pancakes. it one big pancakes with 2 little pancakes at the tops so it looks like mickey ears. theirs also a hershey kiss for the nose and m&ms for the mouth and eyes. its good for a good but slight chocolate-y- breakfast. i don´t think its on the menu but if you just say you want it they will still make it. but anyways the service is great and the food speed *how long it takes to make the food* is just right and doesnt take FOREVER!! but overall its a great restaurant for breakfast or lunch and a walk in place a quick in and out place also forgot to mention they make pizza for pizza night like that. read more

I have been coming to the Chief since they first opened their doors in August, 1990. It is a family run business, first started by John Kiraly, bored from his retirement after closing his first restaurant, Burger and Shake, on Long Island, NY.. Upon his passing some 15 years ago, the main owner, chef, and business manager has been his son, Richard, who worked under his dad for many years. The restaurant still uses the time honored recipes set out by John, but enhanced by Rich adding modern and popular recipes to the menu, like fried pickles, wraps, fantastic soups, fried sweet potatoes, etc.. His bakery items are home made, usually by him or his main baker, Karrin. I had the most delicious pie the other day, Silky French Chocolate Cream Pie with Caramel, with that new flavor mix of salty added in.. Was it the crust? I do not know, as it went down so fast, and then I went back yesterday for the last piece!! Delicious!! The menu is large, and there is always postings for breakfast, lunch and dinner specials.. But, more importantly, Rich will cook anything designed by your imagination! I once ordered a meatball and eggplant Parmesan sub!! Delightful of course!! Want a wrap?? Create it and order it!! tried this place for the first time. walked in to a whole bunch of good looking bakery items. had to try a few of them. I tried the blueberry muffin which was OK. banana chocolate chip scone which I didn't like and a blueberry scone which I didn't like either. also tried the lumberjack for breakfast. the eggs and the potatoes were good but the pancakes were hard and chewy. felt like I was chewing steak. the other people I was with didn't like there food much either. the steak that came with the steak and eggs was not good my friend said and the sunny side eggs were almost completely cooked through. the place was clean and the staff was friendly and accommodating but unfortunately we will not be going back. read more
