Mrs K's Kitchen in the beautiful Village of Middleburgh is like many small town restaurants, more than a place to dine but a meeting place. Walking in you are greated by many large tables along with 4 tops with friends and families together having breakfast or lunch. It's a destination where people get together and share stories of or fuel up before tackling whatever the day holds for them. Mrs K's features normal breakfast and lunch fare, they are known for their generous portions, fluffy pancakes and a changing menu of homemade pies featuring fruits from the surrounding farms. We decided on takeout before tackling some yard work on a recent Saturday morning, pancakes, waffles and 2 BEC sandwiches on rolls. For the encore their strawberry rhubarb pie and strawberry shortcake topped with whipped cream. All delicious but I found the waffles had bit of perhaps nutmeg that I could do without. I don't feel you can go wrong stopping in for a bite before or after touring the shops on Mainstreet of the surrounding area. Try Mrs K's for a real touch of Americana.

A great local joint in the heart of Middleburgh! We were from out of town and stayed in the area. This place is a great stop for a good meal! Nothing fancy but that's the point. Everyone knew everyone there and it was nice being part of the town!

i only got a bagel with cream cheese. the rest of my table got full meals. my bagel took 2 extra minutes to come out after everyone horde got their food. i am very disappointed this place don't know how to toast a bagel.

While trying the eateries of this area, this place was up next for our Saturday morning breakfast. It's like eating in someone's home kitchen, which is a cute gimmick. That morning, we tried: Apple pancakes, which were light and fluffy, had slices of fresh apples seared into the bottom. Slightly tart, balancing the sweetness of the syrup, these were good. My partner had a veggie omelet, which was OK, but more like typical if you're used to diner grub. The home fries were good, but just room temperature so...I'm not sure where they came from, but it wasn't just off a griddle. Service was good, but with Mrs. K and another server handling a full house of 40 or so, they were a bit in the weeds (busy) making it difficult to be attentive. Stop in for a slice of nostalgia.

Friendly staff, quick service, and homemade favorites at a family-owned restaurant that's been around for 20 years. Mrs. K's is on the main road stretch and near some flea markers and hiking trails, putting you right back on the road to your next destination. This place was a wreck after Hurricane Irene (as was the rest of the town), but the area is making a huge comeback, as did Mrs. K's. Farm-friendly options on the daily menu can connect you to some local farms in the area. Great local spot - highly recommend it!

Quiet hometown diner. Food is always good & so is the service. I would definitely recommend. Limited hours are the only bummer.

Seems like the best breakfasts are served in places that don't take credit cards. Duncan's in Brunswick is also that way.

We were visiting a relative in town and my wife, son and I took him for a late lunch at the diner. (Which we treated as breakfast, served all day. We were seated at a booth near the entrance...the upholstery needed a little help, and overall the place could use a little sprucing up. There's advertising on everything...the placemats, the coffee mugs, the glasses. At first, I thought it was a retro decor style choice until I realized all of these were featuring current local business ads. The coffee was okay. I've had worse but there was some flavor in it so it was a step above the "browned water" you can get at other places. The food was good enough for a classic diner experience. Not elevated in any way, but classic dishes served, well, classically. The breakfast potatoes were good and I was happy they were able to do egg whites without any question or up-charge in my breakfast. Portion sizes were okay. My teenage son needed to ask for an additional piece of French toast with his meal as he was still hungry after finishing the initial serving (with eggs and potatoes) We can chalk that up to a teenage appetite. I think the sweet-spot of the Cobleskill diner is the prices. They're low. You can get the same meal at diners in other places for twice the price. This makes it feel like a place that supports the local community. Our server was nice and took good care of us.

So glad that we did because we kept going and ended up at Apple Barrel Country Store. We were going to run in and ask for directions but were so charmed by the store, we decided to explore and eventually made our way to the restaurant. It was perfect timing for a late lunch and we requested to be seated outside on their deck overlooking the mountains of our beautiful state. Our server was the sweetest and took great care of us even though they were busy and seemingly short staffed. I ordered the AB combo with a choice of soup and sandwich and both my selections were so good. Corn chowder and Turkey sandwich. The blueberry mint lemonade I had was the perfect accompaniment. We made our way back to the store for some retail therapy and headed home after a lovely afternoon. The blueberry peach pie for dessert at home was so yummy.

It also had Parmesan, chives, and crème fraiche mixed in. The taste of this combination on a piece of toast was delicious! And something I would happily enjoy again and at reasonable prices. Plus, it was enough food that I finished it for breakfast the next morning. The seating area looks and feels like a typical NY diner. Our waitress was quick and efficient and the coffee was good and fresh. Especially with the limited number of dining locations in the Catskills area, Phoenicia diner is definitely worth a stop.

But he pulled in because I insisted that it's probably just a coincidence that it was horrible that last half dozen times, I was starving honestly so we went, we decided to get the simplest meal thinking that they possibly could not mess it up, breakfast for dinner, I got a omelette and if that's what you want to call it, it was basically rubber and I tried eating it without saying anything but after about five bites in I just couldn't play it off, I asked my husband how was his food, he got eggs and sausages and what ever the want to be potatoes things were, he said that he was pretty sure that his sausage was spoiled and he was worried that he would have food poisoning, I thought he was exaggerating , I smelled it and he was right something didn't smell right, he insisted that I taste it being I talked him into going there lol, yup it was definitely spoiled and his eggs were just as nasty as my food, we told the waitresses that the sausage was spoiled and the rest of the food was not edible and we didn't want the food, she said no problem and said that she would take it off the bill, she took $3 off the bill and we were charged around $45 for the rest of the food we didn't even eat and had her take away, my husband wanted to come unglued because he felt like we had to pay for something we didn't eat and wasn't edible but I asked him to just leave it alone it was my fault for thinking that we should stop and try them again, the waitress was nice and the service was good but the food and whatever is cooking it was definitely not worth giving them any more money and a chance to prove that they got a better cook, my husband said that he noticed that it was a younger guy back there cooking.well he needs to take a cooking class
