Ok,granted this is definitely a hole in the wall diner. But,the food is always good. The staff is always friendly. And the prices are very reasonable. So if you want friendly service,great food and reasonable prices, you should consider this diner. I had the meatloaf with French fries and gravy. And a cup of stuffed pepper soup. As soon as you enter , you are welcomed with a beautiful soul. Ashley, was real authentic raw and kind. She welcomed us and gave us the specials . She cooked our food with love and entertainment. If you're into mindful or healthy eating, this place is probably not for you. As a vegetarian there was very little for me to choose from. A vegan would pretty much be out of luck. Miss Johnstown Diner was an amazing experience. The food was delicious, with huge portions. The people inside were friendly and seemed like a close bunch, it was a wholesome ambiance. I got the lumberjack, which included pancakes. These are by far the best pancakes I've ever had yet! They were fluffy, golden brown, tasty and didn't need syrup. That's how you know it's a good pancake! Again, everyone was so friendly it was such a welcoming experience, all the photos and the waitresses personality made this breakfast memorable. A gem and then some! You know me, I'm the traveling entertainer and I like a good diner. The Miss Johnstown Diner hit all the marks: well-worn, with a limited but classic menu, the whole experience was a bit ramshackle but with a HUGE heart. Most of that heart is generated by the welcoming, tattooed waitress (who doubled as the short order cook). Unfortunately I didn't ask her name but it's probably Miss Johnstown. A close second in a cast of characters was the amiable Reverend/Priest (with quick-release clerical collar!) who floated about helping Miss Johnstown. The ambiance was hyper-local. A nice mix of old-school and new. The decor was deeply "diner" with funny signs and bric a brac. I took a seat at counter as the place is TINY and I didn't want to take up a table. A guy at the counter with a pirate smile and a baseball cap slid a place cover over to me with a "heya." Miss Johnstown took my order with kind words and a smattering of "darling" and "baby" thrown in. One remarkable thing was that a running trivia game was underway as I sat down. It was being led by a bearded man at counter. He had a full breakfast sitting before him while he presented the trivia questions and a hand drawn contestant sheet he kept tally on. I found it all extremely charming and entertaining and I was welcomed to join with the moniker "Counter Guy." The game was engaging, low-pressure and a verifiable treat in this age of isolation and eating with one's nose down in a device. As for why I came- the food! The coffee was excellent and I had corned beef hash and eggs. I asked for the corned beef hash to be well done (I hate the standard soggy loaf you usually see) and my plate was piled high with a generous portion of flavorful, crispy and tender goodness. To top it off the prices were also a welcome bonus which took me back to the 1970s (perhaps when they last raised their prices?). Always a great atmosphere last time we went the burgers kind of tasted off so we didn't eat them and the lady didn't really ask fries or chips so ended up just receiving a burger and chips the chips were stale as well. I came here one time at 4 in the morning. I simply couldn't sleep and this was the only place open. I sat down and this really sweet young man came out and took my order, simply just a pancake. Old trolly car converted into a small little diner. Barstools are super close to the grill and it feels like you are a part of the cooking experience. Staff is very friendly and has us try their famous macaroni salad and gravy. I would have never asked for it, but after trying it was pleasantly surprised. Shortly after ordering it another guest informed us that the the story behind the dish is that a cat ran through the kitchen being chased by a dog and the gravy spilled on the macaroni salad. The owner and his wife decided to eat it any way and ever since then it has been a local favorite. I ordered a club and my friend got a chickrello and we were both extremely happy. Nothing fancy here, whole in the will diner. Everyone knows it as the "greasy spoon". Its the only late night spot in Johnstown, you can come after the bar. It takes a very long time to be served though. They don't have the best order system, but it's a pretty cheap place. read more

By far one of the worst dinning experience ever, if you don't mind your waitress handling money, phone orders and cooking your meal with not once washing her hands then I guess you'll enjoy it. Im sure the chipped nail polish tasted great in somebody's burger! We eat at this diner off and on for a long time now. It used to be a really good value for the money but the last couple of times the quality of service has diminish. We ordered three meals two burger and fries and a breakfast. The burger meals were acceptable but we were informed by the cook later on that she doesn't like to cook lunch and breakfast items at the same time so we were done eating our burgers before the breakfast got there. When it did arrive the eggs were near liquid consistency when they were ordered "over". We asked the lady at the motel reception where the locals go to eat and she suggested the Miss Johnstown Diner and were we glad she did. The place is very small, has only a few tables and some stools at the counter but don't let this fool you. The quaintness is enough to let you know that this is the epitome of the elusive "greasy spoon" and all of it's glory. Stewie (sp?) was the waiter, cook, and all around greeter for the diner. There were only a few of us, actually us three and one local, in there and Stweie sat opposite us and we chatted for quite a while and solved all the problems of the world in the hour we were there - - great conversations. This evening my sister-in-law returned from this "diner" with the following experience. She ordered a Swiss mushroom burger well done. When she received it the burger it was rare and very bloody. She is pregnant and likes everything well done. "Beth" her server took the plate and offered to remake it but stated that they were closing soon. When "Beth" returned and tossed the plate on to the table saying "here you go" the remade burger not only had bacon on it but slices of ham. My sister-in-law is Muslim and wears the head covering and does not eat pork products. If you don't know anything about Muslims or Islam, the one thing you DO know is that MUSLIMS DO NOT EAT PORK!
