The food was cold and the server checked on us three times during the whole meal and the only reason she checked on us the third time was because we asked another server if we can get boxes in the check because she wasn't checking on us read more

What a nice surprise. An excellent burger. Service with a smile and that small town feel that just makes you smile. Thank you. Five stars. The Cole slaw was delicious. The burger perfectly seared. Happy. read more

Friendly's - American Near Me - Johnstown, New York

This my favorite restaurant! The service is great with very friendly workers and great food. I often get the Mac and cheese and it is almost always very good, the cooks there do good. The servers always have a smile on there face and is happy. They even have a claw machine, how fun! (Yes it is not rigged I won smth out of it) read more

Food was not good. I ordered an All American burger and it did not come with cheese not did they ask if i wanted cheese as an up sell I would have said yes. My father ordered a chicken quesadilla and there was nothing in it and he had to send it back. The fries were ice cold and I mean cold I could not eat them. The soup that was ordered was half full and was a full serving according to them. The place itself looks older and dated so it really wasn't a pleasant experience. Overall it was an epic fail. Try it out if you want your experience may be better then mine. Thank you for listening. read more

What could improve? Everything from the fossil the service to the atmosphere. Upon entering the "restaurant " they don't acknowledge your existence. Food is bland at best and the place is always filthy. read more

Wait was ridiculous and there were very few customers there. The food was just ok. I will never go back there again.

Pros Great wait staff, our waitress was outstanding. Cons Filthy restaurant, terrible food, and I mean awful. read more

Just go to Miss Johnstown Diner..... this place sucks. They take absolutely forever like at least 30+ minutes for a burger and fries. Food is great !! Seating is a bit close together but hey, what are you gonna do. If you want to enjoy your dinner or lunch with slow service and a restaurant that smells like it's sewage pipes have been backed up for years (It's literally smelled like old people ass for years), than Johnstown Friendly's is your place to go!! read more

Its a real shame about this place, it use to be so good..now floors are dirty, bathrooms are gross, employees look like the sighned away their souls. The food....is not what it use to be. Ive tried in person and delivery. Dont get me started on how delivery is a migrain to deal with. read more

The food was wonderful and so was the service. The wait staff are always pleasant and the new menu items are wonderful

Very good food Mack and cheese. Bowl was kind of small though, it is my favorite restaurant and great service there too. Music was very good it was quiet but I have been there when it was louder, not a ton of people either. read more

Walked in for lunch, first ignored then seated. While waiting noticed how absolutely filthy the hvac ducts were in the dining room. Decided to be seated anyhow. After a few minutes someone came from the restroom and another guest asked how the bathroom was and it was not good with mention of a broken toilet. I told my husband there was no way I could eat there. We left. read more

Service was very friendly, attentive, and prompt each step of the way (seating, ordering, checking in, the bill). The restaurant was very clean. The food was as good as I remembered it being from childhood. read more

GREAT ICE CREAM FAST...and friendly...thank you so much....we even bought an ice cream cake... chocolate peanut butter cup...

Very good food great service clean table but they place customers close together instead of separating them a little

The staff is friendly and attentive. Food was really good and came out quick. I will be returning.

Easy ordering process. Great prices for the quality and quantity of food. Staff were efficient, helpful and polite.

Great food. Fast service! Server was friendly and prompt!! Ice cream is always the best part!

Our server got it. We had a wild toddler who missed his nap. They made our lives easier and were incredibly kind and patient. More places should understand life happens. Going somewhere easy and yummy is a treat! Thank you to the staff! read more

Clean food was good wait staff good haven't been to a Friendly in a long time would recommend not many friendly around anymore

Basically if you find yourself in Johnstown, NY...there is not a heck of a lot to do, see or of places to eat. We stayed there during the Baseball Hall of Fame weekend, and it's about an hour NORTH of the fairgrounds and museum. We basically slept and ate there for two nights. The very first night we stayed there, we checked in late and there were literally TWO restaurants in town, Applebees and Friendlys. We were going to get snacks at a convenience store, but it was seriously the worst convenience store on planet EARTH. It was across the street from Friendly's. So we went there. Though they were closing in an hour, they opened the kitchen for us and made our food. They were very nice to us. I always feel bad about doing that, but we were very tired and told them we had been traveling most of the day. It's a Friendly's. Not the gourmet of restaurants but it served it's purpose and grilled cheese for all makes me a happy girl. read more

I had an online order and the staff just kept walking past me ignoring me for 10 minutes.. then when I finally got my food the fries were the hardest most stale fries I've ever had and my milkshake was soup :( complete wast of money :( read more

Food wasn't too bad. The service was good. But it smells so bad. It smells like a cow farm. I thought maybe someone from work on a farm came in to eat. But when it was just us after ppl left it still smelled just as bad. Like a hoarder house. And it's a bit dirty. read more

Good friendly fast service . We were seated quickly and the waitress was very attentive . Nice relaxing music playing in the background . Manager was on site and very helpful as well. Food has always been good I don't think I've ever had a complaint . This is a great place for a quick meal or just somewhere to eat with a friend and catch up . If your ever in Johnstown definitely stop in . read more

Friendly's - Drink to go - American Near Me - Johnstown, New York

I highly do not recommend this location. I went in with my sister and was completely disregarded for and waited about 5 minutes to be seated and then sat there for about 15 minutes waiting to be waited on. The waitress was really rude and then someone else came in after us and was seated right away and was waited on within 2 minutes of them sitting down. We were asked about drinks and then the other people that came in after us and got their drinks but yet we still waited for our drinks. We decided to just walk out because we were literally being set aside by the waitress and not helped how fast they were helping someone else who came in after us. Very disappointed in this location. read more

When we walked in to this Friendlys, the place was trashed!!! Severely under staffed for a Saturday night! Our server Stephanie was so so helpful, kind and had such a charisma about her! She took the time to help is decide on entrees, knew the menu and actually engaged in conversation with us. She was running around like a crazy girl trying to clean up the half dozen tables that were left uncleared. Where was the bus person on such a busy evening??? She did so well with her duties with such swiftness, ease and took pride in her job and still managed to treat us like we guests in her home. Well done Stephanie! I've been serving for 16 years and am now a chef in lower NY...and I would be proud to have her on my team!!!!! The food was what was expected from a chain restaurant. read more

Got there 10:35am with my family and some friends to catch breakfast finally be seated at 10:50am and waitress told me that breakfast was closed (*fyi breakfast ends at 11am) this place was really good before but the service decrease over the years. if you want breakfast without get upset go somewhere else or if you decide to stay be prepared to wait for your food 45-50 min. read more

When there with my wife and grandson. We will never go back. Besides paying a premium price for "Krafts Mac & cheese", our order was wrong and I didn't get my free sundae for scanning and signing up for your app. But I did get charged for something we didn't order.. read more

I agree with Heather S - growing up around here almost guaranteed that you were going to spend a good bit of time at Friendly's like it or not. Lots of nostalgia and fond memories here. Lots of chilling with friends when there was no where else open. As an adult I probably would hate myself if I dined in there. But growing up I really enjoyed the food there. When I was a child I decided to check and see just how allergic to ice cream I was. I found out. I had a Jim Dandy - which is like a half gallon of ice cream covered in hot fudge, caramel, chocolate syrup, m&m's, etc.... I was out of school for two weeks. LOL In comparison to the places I eat now this place is like a home town diner -but as a youth I thought it was fine dining. read more

Oh Friendly's, you've had me since the Cone Head Sundaes that used to come with my dinners when I was eight. If you've grown up in the area, you know that this location has been here for more than 25 years and, in that time, has come to be as venerated as many homegrown establishments. Of course, since that time, the company has fallen on some tough times, but given that this location remained open says to me that they must be doing something right. Though it can take a while to get your food after you order, servers here do fit the name of the place and the food, standard grill and fryer fare, makes the grade. The real stand out of your meal, though, is the ice cream, which is also sold at Price Chopper and other area supermarkets. read more

I chose to take my family to your establishment on 4/02/11.There were 4 adults and 1 child. The food was good and the prices on the entrees & ice cream are fair, but my boyfriend ordered coleslaw as an extra to his entree. His portion of the coleslaw was less than a ice cream scoop full and the charge was $2.99.I was stunned when i recieved the bill, but paid the check without saying anything. I may choose your establishment to dine at in the future, but will ask to know what the portions of an additional costly item is before it is ordered.I imagine many patrons will do the same once they are aware of the price and skimpyness of such items. read more

Oh boy, my nephew really wanted to go to Friendly's last night when he heard that they had re-opened. I wish I had talked him out of that or that once we walked in and the strong odor of urine smacked us in the face I convinced him to leave. But nope, we sat through our lukewarm dinner wishing we had nose plugs. I thought that the article in the paper said there was a cleaning crew in the restaurant for several days?? Well...it smelled worse than I have ever experienced it...and do not recommend eating there. They should have stayed closed and allowed someone else to convert it into something new and fresh and clean! read more

So I'm not going to comment about the ice cream as it's a chain and it met my expectations as it always does, but the service at this location was wonderful. Our group of friends came in late after being at cooperstown all day in the sun during hall of fame weekend. We were goofy, a bit delirious, and indecisive. Our server held her own, was funny, matched our energy and willing to please. She was younger and, after working in the service industry myself, I didn't expect this level of attentive and caring service at all. Shame on me for stereotyping and judging the book by the cover. I can't remember your name, but you blew my mind when you told me the sundae I wanted could be turned into a fribble. Thanks for making this group of 30 year olds feel ok for being so goofy and thanks for the great service. read more

This was easily some of the worst service I've ever had. The only reason this restaurant is still open is that the surrounding populous is addicted to the sugars that invade every one of their dishes and drinks. The server never asked about any of our meals or experiences. The food took over 30 minutes and it came out cold and wrong. The place is filthy. It's restaurants like this that disgrace the hospitality industry. I just wished someone in that restaurant from the server to the manager had cared when they came into work today. read more

Bad service. I ordered a burger with no mayo, it came out slathered in it. I sent it back, 2 minutes later it came back out, you could see where they just wiped it off, still had mayo on it, waitress didnt see the problem with that, didnt even offer to make another one. Me and my family will never go back here to eat. Not to mention the place was dirty and disgusting. read more

The service here is horrible. Seriously, every time I go here (and I go here more than I would like), I have to wait forever for any of my orders. It's especially hard when you are there with kids, who are getting impatient and the crayons that they give you are just not enough. read more
