For context, I rate products and businesses on a simple scale: 5 stars means I love it, 4 stars means I like it, 3 stars is okay, 2 stars means I didn't like it, and 1 star means I hated it or think it's unsafe. 5 stars. I've been coming to Raindancer for years and I honestly can't remember ever having a bad meal here. It's one of those dependable restaurants where you know you're going to leave happy. Back before COVID they had a legendary salad bar and I REALLY wish they would bring it back. I'm not even a huge salad person and I still looked forward to it every time I came here. It was fresh, loaded with options, and honestly one of the best restaurant salad bars around. Raindancer, if you're reading this, bring back the salad bar!!! The ribs here are excellent. Always tender, flavorful, and they give you a very good sized portion. I've brought several friends here over the years and everyone has always enjoyed their meals. The restaurant has a nice rustic feel to it that fits the atmosphere perfectly. The food is consistently great and the staff has always been friendly and attentive whenever I've visited. Small negative is there are no free refills on soft drinks. I believe it's always been the case here atleast as far back as I can recall. For me it should be a big deal because I live sodas it's an integral part of my dinner. But yet i like it here a lot so I forgive it. That says something. Keeping my soda filled is one was I rate servers. If they do it without me asking they are ontop of their game to me. But Ike I said that's not applicable here. Just keep it in mind. But for me, the crown jewel here is the chocolate mousse pie. It is fantastic. Light, fluffy, rich without being too heavy, topped with whipped cream and little chocolate morsels. It's absolute heaven. They also have a peanut butter mousse pie that I keep telling myself I'm going to try someday, but every time I come here I can't bring myself to pass on the chocolate mousse pie. Maybe one day... although probably not. It's just too good. They have a take out window. Sometimes if I'm in the area I quickly pick some up for desert. It's so worth it. read more

Pros: very friendly staff Cons: this is an old restaurant and it feels tired. Matted carpet, sticky floors, old decor. It does look like they may have tried to spruce it up at some point but not well. Prices are up there, and the food inconsistent. I had the French onion soup and it was delicious, I followed that with the copped chicken salad and it was awful. Cold pre frozen chicken and absolutely no taste whatsoever to the salad base. Even slapping on salad dressing didn't help. We also ordered the prime rib, now this dish came out perfectly, hot and just as described. It had great flavor. The drinks, soda and ice tea were a ridiculous price, nearly $4 each with no refills. All in all a disappointing meal for almost $100 and nope, no return visit, I believe they are just resting in their laurels of past days. read more

I am in town visiting family and friends and of course I had to stop at the Raindancer! It hasn't changed in appearance one bit and has that amazing vibe! Our server was superb and very attentive. When I shared my food allergies, not only did she share it with the chef, the chef, Steve, came out to introduce himself. I felt very well taken care of throughout this experience. I had a bacon cheeseburger with smashed potatoes. It was delicious! I am actually returning tonight with more friends. We drove a half hour to get there because they were having some great food specials. We went mid afternoon because we knew it would be busy, we were amazed that it wasn't but there was a note on the door saying their "reservations" were full and no walk ins. Their ad said nothing about reservations being needed. Luckily they let us sit at the bar to eat. We felt very sorry for the over worked bartender "Marybeth" as she was by herself and they dumped this on her. She is the only reason we gave 4 stars. She was kind and very accommodating. We gave her a great tip because we felt very bad for what management had done to her with all the extra work. They obviously didn't count on the popularity of thier 2 day midweek half price sale. This place is great!!! No idea how anyone has a bad review here. Host was accommodating, server was outstanding, food was really really good. Price point was right on. We literally drove 2 hours for this meal and the delicious coconut creme pie, with a macaroon type crust! Maybe the best desert I've ever had. I had the filet and my partner had the prime rib. Both were cooked exactly to our liking. The decor is also perfect for a steakhouse. Loved it. I would highly suggest making a reservation beforehand. Went to Raindancer with my husband for my birthday, this is the lobster I was served. Clearly old with a hard shell and appearing freezer burnt not fresh. We asked the waitress to get Walter to address the matter. The claws were so tough the claw crackers broke while trying to use them. Walter came over to the table and screamed "Put it on YELP, leave a bad review I don't care you are paying". I had not even mentioned leaving a review, we just wanted a new lobster. He then told a male waiter to go stand by the table and make sure we paid for the lobster. We will not be going back there again. I have been dining at raindancer since 1988 having both lunch and dinner numerous times. I have never had a bad meal there and service has always been wonderful and fast. As far as I am concerned this is the only place to get a prime rib, always done perfectly. Love the privacy of a booth. I do miss the salad bar. read more

First - our server Kim was amazing! She was so personable and patient! It's been a while since we've been and I was surprised to see the menu has changed completely. I was disappointed to see the salad bar is gone - that was always one of my favorites. However, I understand that Covid did away with a lot of these options. Okay - prices are definitely very different as well. I guess I don't understand a salad being $15-$16. So I passed on that. Of course hubby went for the tried and true, prime rib. I opted for the seafood trio. Hubby said the prime rib was as good as he remembered. Sadly, my seafood trio fell a little flat. The shrimp and scallops were nice sized but swimming in a pool of grease rendering them soggy. The romaine leaf on the bottom did nothing to help. Four scallops- two were undercooked, two were overdone. Four shrimp were cooked nicely but could have been better had there not been so much oil on the plate. The haddock was okay. I did also enjoy a glass of white sangria. I wish they bottled it - very crisp and delicious! If we go back, I'll definitely get the prime rib because the seafood doesn't seem to be prepared the way it used to be. Attended a catered event where I had pre-selected prime rib from the options. Others got the chicken parm or seafood lasagna. Crisp veggies, a variety of cheeses, and very large shrimp were at cocktail hour. Everyone was very pleased with their food and most the service. The room with all the windows was very cold and it was awkward wearing a coat to eat like that. I've eaten here before for late lunch/early dinners. It's okay. Really the only "restaurant" around. We had reservations for my bf birthday, because the last time we were there it was awesome. This time was totally NOT WORTH THE MONEY Normally you get soup or salad with your dinner NOW you had to pay extra - my bf got the strip steak which came with a little bowl of rice and I mean little bowl no other sides just rice - he ordered Roasted Red Pepper soup and we paid extra and for roaster red pepper soup it was more of a chili looking soup - not sure on that one - we also had the lemon pepper chicken - you couldn't taste the chicken there was so much lemon pepper on it I couldn't eat it and I order the soup as a side which was creamy chicken vegetable - there was more veggies than chicken and the only veggies I saw was peas and carrots - we were VERY DISAPPOINTED in our meal and have wished we chosen elsewhere to go Our server was very nice, that was the only pleasant thing we can say read more

It was my 77th birthday and my wife asked me where I'd like to go for dinner. I chose the Raindancer because of the extensive menu. They had a Summer Special starting and I used that menu starting with 25 steamed little neck clams, then snow crab claws. My wife had the Prime Rib which was perfectly cooked. Our waitress was Amber and she was fantastic! She was very helpful with the menu, explaining any questions we might have. If you are looking for a very neat, clean and nicely decorated restaurant, this is the place. read more

Came for my birthday dinner with some family from Tennessee that was visiting and this has always been one of my favorite places, unfortunately I won't be going back, the manager is rude, condescending and is not willing to accommodate when someone is unhappy with their meal. We ordered three filets, one delmomico and one prime rib not one of the steaks were cooked properly, they were charred on the outside and raw in the middle, we each had about four bites that was cooked properly. We sent the delmonico back but decided to just deal with the others, it came out just as bad as the first. The manager came out and immediately I could tell that he wasn't going to help us, he came up to the table and stood between myself and my cousin at the table, he was so close that I could smell him and feel his body heat coming off of him, this made me very uncomfortable. He argued that it was only the center of the steak that gets cooked properly there. When one person in our group expressed that they didn't care for the prime rib and it was too salty his response was "well have you ever had prime rib before" in a VERY rude tone, I have never been made to feel this way before and I was embarrassed that I brought my family to someplace that would treat their customers this way. The waitress was wonderful and she seemed scared when we weren't happy with our food which is a huge red flag for me, how mean are you to your employees that they're scared when someone's food isn't cooked properly. Bottom line, DO NOT go here unless you want every temperature in one steak, it will go from well done to raw and you'll have just a few bites the way you like it and you just have to deal with it because the manager doesn't care about anything except his bottom line. The food here has been good with good portions in the past. It has never been inexpensive but the value was within reason. The menu recently changed and we couldn't believe the prices. The salad options range from $16 to $24, that's right, for salad! A hamburger is $20. In addition to prices increasing, we found the portions were smaller, even on the French onion soup. Such a disappointment, as this used to be a nice spot for a good meal (not any more) We were offered the early bird special for an extra $5 each. This included salad, dessert, and coffee or tea. We decided to do this and when coming to desert we were told our options. Made selection and instead of it being included we were charged for both full price. When notifying the waitress she said we ordered the wrong options (she told us our options). You'd think they credit this mistake but nope, they took 2 sodas "off" (we never drank them). $100 meal for 2 ppl and a 3 year old.... Ridiculous. I see they are cutting corners and no longer concerned with quality. Our family had made reservations for a bereavement luncheon and was given a menu with prices. After the event it was noticed that the prices were much higher than what was on our menu. After talking to the owner (Walt) he said it was more expensive because of the time of day. He knew the time of the reservation but never said it would be more expensive for that time. I want to first start by saying that the staff at Raindancer is extremely attentive and friendly. They are constantly checking on you, you never have to wait around for someone to refill your glass or wonder if they are going to ever come back with the extra sauce you requested. They always seem to anticipate your needs. Five stars for the staff, every time I have visited! The atmosphere is also relaxing and welcoming. That being said, they last 3-4 times that we visited, the food was mediocre at best. On one visit I ordered a "chowder" that was just a mixture of water and flour. It was inedible. On another visit, I ordered the seafood casserole. I've ordered it several times in the past and really enjoyed it. But on this occasion, it again resembled the chowder in that it was just a flour and water mixture, lacking flavor and cheese. It seemed like maybe they ran out of the proper ingredients and tried just thickening up the sauce by adding more flour. It was certainly not the same delicious dish I had ordered in the past. Again inedible. My husband is a creature of habit and orders the West Coast Salad every single time and he absolutely loves it. However on our most recent visit, he said it just didn't taste right and couldn't eat it. Very disappointing. We continue to frequent this establishment because of the staff and the atmosphere, but unfortunately the food appears to be going downhill. Wow has this place gone down down hill. Haven't been here in 20 years and will not be back. Waitress was great but probably a little too honest. Wife had scallops that were not cooked completely , actually cold in the center ( almost 40.00 cost ) , I don't usually agree with her but I said send them back immediately after I tasted them . The waitress came back and said " well the cook says we haven't had any complaints tonite !!!! Ok they were cooked trust me ... when she brought the scallops back the plate was extremely hot , what an insult they threw them in microwave and over cooked them ... we left the whole plate of scallops on the table and left. Sadly disappointed in this establishment. If you don't have a reservation, even on a week night such as a Tuesday, well don't expect to be getting a table. We were told the wait without a reservation would be an hour long. Meanwhile, as we were at the hostess stand, the group ahead and behind us was told it would be 20 minutes. (They each had 3 people in their group and we had 6). When I questioned the wait time, we were told it was because they were under staffed. This seems to be every time we try to have dinner at this place without a reservation even. We left and went down the road to Nicolino's where a reservation was not needed, the service was one of the best and the food was amazing; which is not the first time we have done this. I came into this restaurant blind sighted and I was not impressed to say the least. I got the New York strip steak, a caesar salad, and a side of mashed potatoes. The steak was absolutely horrible, there was no seasoning on the steak and most of all the steak was full of fat, so much fat that more than half of the steak was uneatable. The mashed potatoes were actually not terrible and had a good amount of seasoning, the Caesar salad was average. The service was good, and the ambiance of the restaurant looked like a 1980s garage. Many flies were flying around the restaurant. All I have to say is please do not come to this place! It's very overpriced and what your paying for isn't even worth it. read more

The salad bar features traditional vegetables, coleslaw, potato salad, but they also have fresh made bread and huge blocks of good cheese you can cut for yourself. The entrees we had were solid; my scallops were a bit over cooked but it's hard to pan sear scallops in a huge industrial kitchen.
