After a nice visit to the Via Aquarium, we wanted somewhere to rest our feet and enjoy lunch with a friend. Right out of the gate, the temperature of this restaurant was over 85 degrees and people were melting. No idea why or if this is normal, but it 100% hurt my experience here. The waitress seemed a bit snappy and not overly chatty. The place was a lot busier than I expected so she may have just been working a lot of tables. I wasn't expecting a lot from the food and it followed that expectation. Not much to garner for others reading this based on a chicken tender order, so I can't say what the highlights of the menu are. Both the hostess and our waitress seemed disorganized. Our waitress actually needed to have our order repeated 3 times before she got it correct. I ordered the chicken and sausage w/penned pasta and garlic bread. Not only did it not look anything like it did in the picture, the pasta was dry with barely any sauce, chicken or sausage. The garlic bread was a hunk of bread with garlic butter dumped over the top. My husband's sirloin steak tasted charred, "like they used it to scrub the stove top", were his exact words. The experience I had at the 99 restaurant was a great one overall. First let me start off with the ambience of the place. It is a very clean atmosphere, and also the TVs showed many different varieties of shows sports and other things that people would like to watch while they are sitting and waiting for the food. The service itself was excellent. The waitress that we had was simply amazing she was attentive to our needs always refilling our drinks without having to Hunter down to ask she was observant beyond belief and you also get free popcorn there and she always kept the bowl full. She was also very funny and that is a plus for us because the sense of humor is always a good thing especially when you're going out for a meal. The food was a different thing all together and the reason why are you dropped at one star but the food wasn't horrible. It just wasn't prepared correctly and that was kind of a turn off to me but again the customer service made up for that because she took care of it immediately when I received my burger, it was Still mooing in fact, I think I saw it, wagging its tail between the buns that's how raw it was. But I did end up getting a new burger and they took the burger off of my ticket which they didn't have to do because they got me a new burger but she did it anyway and I was grateful. My wife and my son both got the mac & cheese and they really enjoyed that. Overall great experience all the way around I would definitely recommend that you go to this 99 restaurant, if you're ever in the area, I don't believe you'll be disappointed. read more

Compared to the other Ninety-Nine restaurants I've visited, this one feels smaller, but it also feels like it concentrates the good stuff, like the charm. It has an interesting layout. And the staff go out of their way to talk to you more than just "Can I take your order?" How is everything?" It's too bad the restaurant is in a more-than-half-empty mall. They will get the folks who definitely want to come here to eat, but they won't get quite as many people in the "I"m here, what's around to eat?" category. Well we arrived here a rather large group. Although we called ahead, the staff were a bit confused and that was on us. The menu is decent with a nice variety. They were running a special on lobster rolls so how could one pass that up. The lobster roll included a side salad and dessert and it came with coleslaw and french fries. The lobster roll was great. It was not heavy on the mayo and the lobster to bread ratio was decent. The french fries were room temperature and too salty; disappointing. Personally I hate coleslaw and when I tried it... well I am not a convert; still hate it. The desert was one of two choices so the peanut butter and chocolate option it was going to be. The odd thing was it had a caramel drizzle. It was fine, but the flavors did not work that well. I ate it, but was rather confused by it. I have been going here for a long time, routinely have only a few choices I prefer on the menu. The staff are all excellent. I have one major complaint, I enjoy their "smothered tips" my complaint is clearly prices have gone up on everything but the portion for the price is completely to small for the cost, this is a recognized skimping from portions at previous visits. I would love to give 0 starts, actually appaled, walked in, waited 3 min to be served, whatever, sat down, waitress was not very nice (didnt talk) she walked away, we waited 15 minutes just to be asked about drinks, we ended up walking out, man said "want a drink" yes, we would have loved one 14 min ago. Above and beyond in all categories. Last night I ate at this restaurant and being from Florida I was amazed by the precautions done to ensure The spread of Covid. The place was spotless and a plastic guard separating the bar from the booths. The server ANNIE was very efficient and very pleasant. The food was cooked perfectly and we got everything we ordered. What was amazing and above and beyond was the manager AMY. She checked to make everything was good for us. With all that is going on in this world today it was such a blessing to have someone take the time to make sure we were happy. Firstly the popcorn was burnt and there no butter on them. My ribs were over cooked I could barely cut them, all of my families mashed potatoes were ice cold. My lemonade had unknown particles floating in it. Then when the boxes for our food came there was literally bugs jumping on the table. And the staff was incredibly rude and spiteful over it refusing to believe they have literal BUGS in their restaurant. Never again. Have to shout out to the chef and even louder for our waitress Taylor-she made our night! Three high school friends who had not seen each other in 30 years -we had a LOT to talk about. To start we arrived on a Saturday night and were seated promptly always a bonus! Taylor did a quick stop & intro before she had even been told we were seated. She was back promptly with menus and equally promptly with our water and cocktails. Throughout the night Taylor was attentive, funny, knew her product VERY WELL and when asked about an item not listed on the menu appetizers her response was 'I may be able to make that happen' and she did. This place is OK. Bonus points for having a gluten free menu (there are gluten free buns on hand for burgers). Here's a big downer....they list all the calories on the menu. Ummmm yeah. 1120 calories for a gluten free burger and bun. I had a balsamic chicken breast with wedge salad and brocolli for about 600 calories....still seems high. The food wasn't over cooked like a lot of chain restaurants, my brocolli was still a tad crisp which in my opinion is WAY better than soggy stuff. It was pretty slow and quiet for lunch on a Tuesday. We came here with my parents after having fun at the arcade since it was a washout on Sunday. My parents LOVE this restaurant but usually go to the Clifton Park one. My mom ordered the nacho supreme appetizer and the poor thing ate a jalapeño with seeds and just couldn't get the spice out of her mouth so didn't each much of it. I ordered the grilled balsamic chicken and it was surprisingly very good. Juicy and wonderful grilled flavor with the sweetness of the balsamic. French fries and corn were average but I don't really think they need to be amazing. My fiancé ordered the country fried chicken with mashed potatoes and he just said "definitely not Cracker Barrel" and thought it was just okay. The waitress was friendly and the price is very reasonable. I would give it a 3.5 but I don't think it goes up to a 4. read more

Ripoff! Bait and Switch! We went there last Thursday and they have a chalkboard with the specials. We went in and ordered some sodas at a table. The waitress came over for our order. I told her I wanted the fifty cent wings that they had on special. I'm told that's only if you sit at the bar. I reply it doesn't say that. 2 of the people went to the bar and ordered wings for the fifty cents but had to buy a drink. That sucks. I stop here a couple of times a month. The food has always been as described and reasonably priced. The staff has always been very friendly and efficient. The place is clean and in good repair. They must be doing something right. They're in a dead mall so foot traffic is minimal, but seem to do a consistent trade all week. I tried this 99 many years ago, back when the mall was still occupied and they were hidden in the back. After many years I tried them again about a year ago only because they are one of the very few local places where one can get a late meal. I've been returning a couple of times a month ever since. For a chain place, this is one of my favorites. Good menu with a lot of different choices that interest me. Service was very good, staff is well trained. Prices are fair as well. The meal was well paced, and I was in and out in a reasonable amount of time. I had to give up on my local 99, but it's nice to know I can get to some of the others from time to time. read more

I've been here once before and I thought it was just OK. Come the second time, a few days ago, I revisited this place because c'mon- 9.99 cannot be beat. My bf and I split the loaded nachos and I ordered the fried shrimp and fries. The nachos were LOADED alright- and they used fresh jalapeños! My favorite. Frozen food I can cook at home! My girlfriend and I received a gift card to the restaurant for Christmas and decided to use it all in 1 shot since the mall is probably going to close soon and we won't have a chance to return. For appetizer we ordered Boneless Wings and Potato Skins Sampler, and for our meal, I ordered their Backyard BBQ combo that on the menu says comes with Broiled Sirloin Tips, Grilled Chicken breast and Slow Roasted Ribs (which I asked for medium rare). My girlfriend ordered the chicken pot pie with mashed potatoes. Our appetizer was brought out after waiting an unusually long time. The potato skins were obviously fried which was a new experience for us, and the boneless wings were just frozen chicken tenders heated and then dipped in buffalo sauce. This made us a little worried as we're used to boneless wings made fresh, and potato skins that aren't fried. A few (broken) plastic cups of water later our meals were brought to the table. At first sight of my meal I knew it was going to be horrible, the fries were obviously very old, instead of a nice golden brown there were brown and gray. I decided I would just put them aside and just eat the rest, the sirloin tips, chicken, and ribs. Looking at the rest of the food I realized that the sirloin tips were actually just scraps of what looked like London broil or some other cheap cut of beef. The chicken breast was a very small piece, it would have probably been great for a small slider sandwich. And the ribs looked alright although quite small (only 3 ribs total). I decided to go for the beef, whatever it was. At first stab of my fork I could immediately tell the first of 3 small pieces was only seared and completely raw in the middle, I cut it open and sure enough it was 'blue rare' which is more rare than rare. The second piece was very well well done, as well as the third. Next was the grilled chicken breast. The chicken breast had a decent flavor, it seemed very sweet and tangy but unfortunately it was extremely dry. As if it was cooked a while ago and then frozen and reheated in a microwave. The ribs which were supposed to be slow roasted were also very dry and lacked any flavor. Since all of my meal was extremely inconsistent and almost inedible I had my waitress take it back and I would not want another to replace it. The acting manager (or whatever) came to my table and almost demanded that I order another entree. So I settled on the fried shrimp. When the first shrimp came out it was very hot but lacked the crunch that fried shrimp should have, but I forced myself to eat it. My girlfriend said her pot pie was pretty good and almost too hot. But the mashed potatoes were "extremely dry and gluey", almost as if they were frozen, heated and squeezed onto the plate from a bag. When the bill came nothing was taken off of it until we spoke to the manager and she took off the backyard bbq meal but kept the shrimp on it. For the $40 it was definitely NOT worth it even if the food was better from the start because of the small portions. When we returned home I have came to the conclusion that I probably now have food poisoning from what I would guess was the shrimp. It's also happened where I've asked specifically for silverware to go (it's even been printed on the receipt), but no utensils were included. Not only did I have to wait for them to remake it, but they called the person who had gotten mine by mistake and offered them a full refund right in front of me. We went to 99 to celebrate an accomplishment by two of my three boys (12, 10, & 7). We were told the wait would be 45 minutes, and 25 minutes later our pager buzzed. So far, so good. Unfortunately, that was the best part of our visit. The waitress took our drink orders, but when she returned with our drinks my 12-year-old's was in a kid cup, despite the fact that he was ordering from the adult menu (their kids menu is for 10 and under). Strike one. When she brought the food, the steaks my wife and I had ordered lacked the bleu cheese crumbles promised in the menu. Strike two. Then she brought my 12-year-old a salad, when he had ordered fajitas. Strike three. Perhaps the waitress wouldn't have made the same number of mistakes if she hadn't been busy chatting frequently with her husband (or boyfriend?) who was in a corner booth. Yes the manager comped the meal, but our celebration was ruined, and there's no way to get that back. The fish is always fresh. Noticed other restaurants are replacing scrod, can be found in fewer restaurants locally, but 99 continues to use scrod in its fish and chips and baked dishes. Moist, sweet and deliciously prepared. The prices are extremely reasonable esp. using a coupon, and the wait staff friendly and efficient. The restaurant aims to please in every way.
