I sat there for more than five minutes before I was even acknowledged. I know this because I could see the Guinness Countdown to St Patrick's Day (down to the second) from my seat. There were 3 girls behind the bar but one seemed to be doing most of the bar work. As I put on my jacket to leave, I finally had the attention of one of the girls so I decided to take my chances and stick with my dinner plan. She got me a menu and asked for my drink order. There weren't any hard ciders on tap but they did have canned Awestruck (local). I noticed the fried pickle appetizer and asked her about it. She told me they were spears and very popular. I decided to take her recommendation and ordered them, along with a Cooley's Handmade Burger with sautéed mushrooms and swiss cheese. My pickle fries came out first since they were an app and I can tell you two things about them...the portion was huge and they were absolutely the best I've ever had! Not long afterward, my burger arrived and that was really tasty as well. We came here on a Wednesday evening at 6pm and there were fewer than 10 people seated (not including a half a dozen or so at the bar). We had two young kids with us so we ordered quickly in hopes we could get the kids settled, fed and back in the car before they started acting like kids. We ordered chicken fingers and fries for the kids, wings and French onion soup for ourselves followed by a cheesesteak and a cheeseburger. We did not see a single piece of food until 7pm. Literally - one hour from when we ordered until even the kids food showed up. We asked the waitress to check on everything about 45 minutes into the evening and could hear the chef say, "you tell them it'll be out when it's ready". Two stars rather than one because when the food did finally show up it was mostly good. The wings were great, the cheesesteak was great - the burger was tragic, borderline inedible. It tasted like it had been grilled directly on charcoal that was doused in lighter fluid. I'd have sent it back if I wasn't 100% sure we'd end up waiting another hour for a replacement. I'm fairly certain this place won't care about this review - but I hope if you're reading this you'll be dissuaded from wasting your time, money and energy and look to any of a number of other amazing restaurants in the area that serve great food and provide amazing service.

We live in Texas and were in Cooperstown for a baseball tournament, which gave us another excuse to stop by. I had enjoyed Ommegang's Belgian-style beers for years, but this visit gave me the opportunity to explore more of their lineup. I was impressed by the variety of styles available, and everything I sampled was exceptionally well crafted. The food was excellent as well. The poutine was a standout and tasted every bit as authentic as the poutine I've enjoyed in Canada. It's not always easy to find great food at a brewery, but Ommegang delivers on both fronts. The setting is truly remarkable. Located on a 140-acre former hop farm just outside Cooperstown, the property feels more like a Belgian monastery than a brewery. The beautiful buildings, open spaces, and wooded surroundings create an experience that is worth the trip all by itself. The grounds are impeccably maintained and provide a perfect backdrop for enjoying a pint. Having been open since 1997, it's clear that Brewery Ommegang has had decades to refine both its beer and its operation. Everything feels polished, welcoming, and thoughtfully designed.
