A cool authentic retro feel while you step back in time to a 1950's diner. Great food, fun waitresses who made you feel at home, and reasonably priced. Two thumbs up from Fonzie and I!

Good food great service. The fries were a little soft but that is the only issue. Glad to see it still open and operational.

I've been wanting to try the vegan sandwich options at Mallos for a long time. We tried both - the…read moreeggplant and the cauliflower Reuben. Both were good. The Reuben was a little too unidimensional for my taste, because the cauliflower is fermented I think there isn't enough contrast with the sauerkraut which is really the only other ingredient. the flavor was great but the texture wasn't my favorite. The eggplant itself was amazing! I loved it. But again I think the composition of the sandwich was a little off for my taste, there was a pile of arugula that overpowered the eggplant which was star but a very small portion of the sandwich. The homemade chips were the best I've ever had and YOU SHOULD TRY!!!! Phenomenally crisp and cooked to perfection. Overall, I don't think I'd come back often because there arent a ton of vegan options and I was enthralled by them but if I was in a group with meat eaters and they wanted sandwiches I would happily tag along and get one of these options again.

I hopped on Yelp, saw the great reviews, took 1 minute to browse the menu, and I turned around and walked right in to Mallo's. The space is pink with black and white checkered floor. I was greeted as I walked in and they were patient while I read the menu (again). Everything sounded great but I went with the veggie sandwich but made into a wrap. They brought my food out to me on a little tray with a paper branded with the same cute dog. I loved the wrap! I'm glad I went the wrap route - it was perfect. Mozzarella, arugula, fried eggplant, olives - yummm. It was so delicious and flavorful and a big portion! I took leftovers back to my hotel and had them the next day. I'm so glad I stopped in to this spot and would definitely come back for more of their tasty food.

Formerly Westerlo General Store, Hillbelly's is convenience store/deli/restaurant/gas station (1…read morepump) located next door to the post office. The place offers a full service deli counter, snacks, cold drinks, coffee and a full service restaurant in the back section with 2 dining areas serving breakfast and lunch. They also offer pizza and wings on Friday and Saturday nights. I stopped by Hillbelly's for lunch recently and took a seat in the back dining area and given a lunch menu which offers hot and cold sandwich plates, soup, fried foods, burger plates, plus kids meals. The prices seem reasonable here. I ordered the Philly Steak Sandwich with Fries ($10.95 plus tax) and an ice water with lemon. The friendly staff offered me a complementary slice of pepperoni pizza since they launched pizza nights on Friday and Saturday. The pizza was decent which has a good sauce pepperoni slices and minimal cheese on a soft and chewy crust. They also were low on fries so they offered me an additional fried side and I went with onion rings. The food arrived very hot and the Philly Steak Sandwich was very big and thick, which had grilled peppers & onions, melted cheese and 2 grilled steak-ums on a thick soft artisan bun. The standard fries were golden and crisp and as were the battered onion rings. I barely finished my lunch. The check was $11.83 with tax and before tip. Overall, this is a good place to stop for food if you happen to be in Westerlo.

I ended up leaving angry and literally cried.... Their online ordering has a Reuben with an option for $2 extra meat & a note box so I cld have written there asking for the extra portion on the side. EASY. Yet, I went in person to see what the specials were hoping for a great lunch, because Im here for medical procedures at the hospital and had fasted since the day before. Id never been to The Elm Street Market before, but it was close to the hospital, & love Vermont markets for all the years I have lived here. But THIS place :: T E R R I B L E mistake! The employee at the counter was as fake & uncaring as it gets, & shld definitely not be the customer guy. He would not just let the added side be $2 , but wanted to weigh it out & charge me for a deli style $6 sliced side in a package as an addition to the $14 sandwich. ($20 Reuben?!) I said I didn't need or expect a package of sliced cold meat, that I was just adding the side portion to share with my pups. For Lunch. He just becomes patronizing, dense, & fully lacking capacity or willingness to help and says he "can't bc it just doesn't work that way" unless I get it on the sandwich. I cld order it online but not with him at register. And for some reason he cant figure out a $2 portion of meat. Surreal Incompetence. The next level of downhill not-so-fun is seeing the tiny soup. A cup of soup for $8. A latte "special" that I cld not even taste the smoked maple flavor and was only 3/4 full. It's actually shocking- what happened to actually CARING about just helping ppl have a good experience if you are working in the restaurant business as a small local independent market? Hey Elm Street Market Fella, you cld do the simplest things like not try ripping ppl off & being kind! His patronizing attitude & lack of capacity really took it over the top- how am I supposed to enjoy this $36 ordeal? Supposedly he is refunding the meat, bc I explained I didn't order a package of meat. He took it out of bag & literally said "take your sandwich & drink & go". I was upset~ I said this is truly unacceptable ~ try some Kindness & Authenticity! And left. The other young lady who was working that day & witnessed this whole debacle seemed to feel bad making 'Im So Sorry' faces. She at least offered me a dollop of maple syrup & noted the drink was not filled~ but also was being oppressed by his attitude. I cld tell he was being an overbearing tyrant. Wtf - this is NOT Vermont as it should be DUDE. All it took was putting a few slices on the side for $2 & filling up a drink. Ridiculous.
