Especially liked being able to open the windows and feeling the fresh air and breezes after stays in hermetically sealed hotel rooms. Although we didn't get a chance to check it out, the bar looks great and by all accounts, the food is very good. Dave, the Owner, was very helpful at checkin, explaining how to use the A/C unit, access code for after hours and WiFi code. Having grown up in the area, the highest complement I can give is the stay reminded me of being at my Mother's house in the past...comfy and cozy as she used to say.

First she asked us if we had reservations and we said no, she then asked us how many in our party and I told her five and she sarcastically said, "and you don't have reservations". She acted bothered and then said well we can sit you in the back. She proceeded to walk us to the back and she begrudgingly said well I have to set up a table for you. Thank goodness our server, Angie, quickly came to offer assistance. She had a smile on her face and was very friendly. When you first walk in, you are in the tavern. They had live music at 6:00 and most of the tables were reserved. And now the good part!! The food was very good. Angie advised us of the specials of the day. We ordered one of the specials which was a generous portion of Haddock stuffed with shrimp and crab. It was cooked to perfection and had just the right amount of flavor. It was served atop a bed of rice with a cream sauce and cooked spinach on the side. It came with a salad and a role. We also ordered the salmon and that was also cooked perfectly and was delicious. We were provided excellent service by Angie.

What an incredible find!!!!!…read more First and foremost- the service here is wonderful! Our waitress was easily one of the best I have ever had. Friendly, fun and attentive. As for the food- just as great! My husband got pancakes and they were some of the fluffiest pancakes I have ever seen! I had to steal a bite (or a few) and they were moist and buttery. Perfect, really. He also had eggs and hash, which he also enjoyed. I tried a scramble, which was also flavorful. The bacon in the scramble was crunchy, not a piece was soft and chewy... it really made such a difference! The home fries were seasoned, but not overly so with crunchy bits here and there. Basically we can't wait to come back here- this was one of our best breakfasts out ever!

The exterior is simple & unassuming, and inside is clean, efficiently laid out, and decorated with lake & water sports themes. Both the daily specials and menu creatively stepped outside the norm, with a few items leaning into BBQ & Mexican. I finally decided to go early lunch & chose brisket tacos - yum! Ingredients seemed fresh and portions were impressive. All were happy (see pics) - we'll be back. Service was OK & a bit inattentive, even after the breakfast crowd subsided, so I can't go 5 stars. The exterior is misleading & easy to pass by if you're not in the know - don't let it fool you! Breakfast is only served on weekends between 8 AM & 1 PM & we just happened to be there. Service was extra warm & welcoming - we had our pup with us & it was a not so great weekend weather wise & while we offered to order & sit outside at a table as to not disrupt other diners, they managed to put us in their back room so no one had to eat out in the cold (Pepper can't write her own review, but she says thank you, two paws up!) While the menu is small, one item is better than the next & you can't go wrong no matter what you choose! Prices are reasonable for everything you get & in today's economy, it's a rare find! The apple pancakes were to die for & honestly, the biggest pancakes I've ever seen! Fresh biscuits with maple butter (YUM!) Don't pass up on the extra creamy & delicious chocolate milk! Seriously - can I get an IV drip of that? This place is the embodiment of farm to table (obviously). Zero frills, but full authenticity of a working farm. Wonderful place & wonderful people. They have lots of their goods for sale too, so you can take Buck Hill Farm home with you! We bought their delicious bourbon maple syrup, fresh herbal tea, hot sauce, & took some ribs back to the house to grill for Father's Day! Plenty of full & happy bellies even after leaving the farm. The really interesting thing about our visit was that it should have not gone well. We arrived at a peak time on Sunday morning. We got squished into a corner. Two of my family members opted to sit right on top of the heater instead of wedged beside another party of four. We waited almost an hour for our food. HOWEVER -- the service was attentive and pleasant, the updates on the status of our orders frequent, and the vibe was relaxed and quintessentially rural. Nice folks just looking to relax and have breakfast, devoid of pretense or high expectation, coupled with a simple country spot no doubt run by dedicated, hardworking people -- that's what made our visit pleasant and erased any perceived excuse to be angry or annoyed. And the food was quite good! I had a "scramble," and it was very well seasoned, complementing my home fries and toast perfectly. The kids loved their breakfasts and appreciated the coloring books they got to play with to pass the time. If I'm ever in the area again, I will go back.

For my entree, I ordered the Penne a la Vodka with shrimp, which came with a house salad. It was fantastic! It had a good amount of shrimp in it too. Overall, the food was great and the service was a little slow but thankfully the food was worth the wait. I was too stuffed to try any dessert but I hope to if I'm in the area again!
