I'd like to share a recommendation for a small family-run restaurant near Hunter Mountain called The Breakfast Club. It's located in the small town of Jefferson. It is very charming and cozy; the tables feature small vases of fresh flowers, and everything is spotless. The staff is very polite. We ordered toast and could choose from a selection of toppings--whipped cheese and hot honey--which were incredibly delicious. They bake their own bread, and I highly recommend the cinnamon-raisin loaf. The one thing to know before visiting is that the wait times are very long; we waited an hour and a half for an omelet and toast. Also, they don't have Wi-Fi, so it's better to bring a book. read more

Excellent spot for breakfast/brunch. Reasonable prices, good portion sizes, and comforting food. Super cozy atmosphere and very clean. They sell Housemade products like baked goods, syrup, sauces, etc. very friendly staff. We went on my bday and they gave me a complimentary ice cream bday treat which was very nice. The "tbc" fries are excellent. Great menu selection and there's nothing you could go wrong with getting. Definitely recommend taking home their house made fresh baked pastries or bread. Super yummy and a great way to support this small business. No parking so you have to park on the street or a separate parking lot. But it's not too big as issue. No reservations needed. Give it a try! read more

First off let me start by saying. The staff here are sweeter than the delicious pancakes that they make. Small staff. But very kind and welcoming. Came here with a group of seven people and we bought almost everything on the menu. And everything was delicious. But the pancakes is what this place should really be known for. I had the cinnabon pancakes and my buddy had the banana pancakes and wow. Fire. I also had the "meat lovers" omelette also fire. The place is a little small and only thing is they do take a while to make the food. But its worth it. I did go with 7 people so i figured itl take longer. But either. Come here!!! This has got to be the best food, people, and just all around awesome place to go. My husband and I have been going to the Breakfast Club since 2017 and have always had the best service. The owners are extremely friendly to me and my husband. It's a family run establishment which makes it super cozy there. I urge anyone who hasn't been here to make the small trek to Jefferson and stop at the Breakfast Club. read more

Glad that they have re-opened. Currently open on Saturday, Sunday & Monday from 7am -2pm. I ordered the stuffed French Toast on Monday to go and it was delicious & prepared quickly. I was greeted with smiles all around. Can't wait to find the time to have a sit down meal in the lovely space and try some other yummy meals. They have everything from traditional breakfasts to specialty breakfast items & much more! read more

The food is very unremarkable sometimes less is more not every one is happy about a huge pancake. We would've just be happy with the freshness and flavor of a normal size fluffy one. The service is to match if they don't know you good luck expect the bare minimum if you lucky. As for the ambiance is unorganized and confusing is it a dinner? A deli? A bakery? Certainly not a club. Please don't waste your time and money. read more

You don't want to miss this gem in the Catskills. The atmosphere is laid back and friendly. The waitstaff are attentive and welcoming. The food was incredible and not just pancakes and eggs. Omelets are excellent and the homemade breads are worth the stop alone. Amy is a delightful host. I can't wait to return. read more

The food was delightful. Homemade bread! It was delicious. The service was excellent we were met at the door by a friendly woman who was very friendly and attentive. The place was spotless and modern. We will be back. read more

I guess the food might be good. I wouldn't know- never got to taste any of it bc the workers here are outright racist and basically ignored me and my boyfriend because we're Asian. After driving four exhausting hours from 7:30am to visit someone in the area we decided to stop by TBC for lunch. When we walked in, we stood and waited basically 10 minutes. No one gave us directions or bothered to tell us to sit anywhere. We had to walk to a lady all the way in the back where she looked around and said "oh just grab a table where you can find one" Fine- We decided to grab a seat at the only table that still had a setting in the corner of the restaurant. We sat there for basically 15-20 minutes. The waiter- some man probably in his 20s just kept serving the table next to us. Never once bothering to get us some water. Or just quickly getting our order so the kitchen can get started. Or even acknowledging us and telling us he'll be there in a sec. Just kept walking to the table next to us and getting their food, checking if it's ok, getting them condiments. Once he was done with them, just walked back to the kitchen. Even the woman who knew we sat down didn't stop by. Just passed our table and went to serve someone sitting behind us. At this point I was furious but after driving for four hours and starving I had no energy to yell and tell them off. Just decided to leave. Long story short- don't be fooled by their cute menu filled with family love- they won't serve you unless you look like everyone else in town. read more

Came here over Labor Day weekend because I was up in Jefferson again and obviously had to come again! Took away a star because...well...service wasn't as great this time around. We arrived around 11:30, and it was PACKED (which was not the situation last time). We waited maybe 15 minutes for a table, NBD. Sat down with our menus...and waited. Waited. Waited. We had to call someone over to take our order (drinks, food, everything) after 15 minutes of being seated and seeing others being served before us. Coffees took another 10 minutes, and food took a while after that. Now, when you write it out like that, it doesn't seem that crazy long, but when you see others being served before you, and that there is no structure to how the servers work, it's frustrating. Obviously this place needs more help in the front, because it seemed only two people were cleaning, taking orders, and serving the dishes for 15-20 parties. This time around I ordered the sauteed crisp mozerella n eggs with prosciutto. I asked for the eggs to be scrambled (they came out overeasy) but I enjoyed the meal anyway. The mozzerella was crisped to perfection, but the prosciutto was really just plain ham. Overall, everyone enjoyed their food, but the service was definitely lacking. My boyfriend didn't receive his shake AT ALL and ended up getting it to go when they finally remembered to make it. So I'm between a 3.5/4 here. The people are nice but they're clearly not ready for the popularity of their establishment. PRO TIP: The amazing cinn raisin bread you get with your order? THEY SELL IT IN LOAVES, just ask! They'll sell you one if they have availability, and it's only $4.75!!! read more

How should I start this review, well first gps is the only system that will either try to kill you or take you 45 mins out of your way and still tell you your on the fastest route, well today was one of those gps days, but it got me and my companion to this little gem of a place hidden in the Catskills! You come into Jefferson, ny a tiny farm town that is frozen in time, to a general store front which looks like it did when it was built, until you walk into a funky painted , modern cafe. The walls are painted black and the trim is electric green, but it's bight and airy even with the color choices. The menu was your normal diner offers a long with a specials such as crab meat stuffed French toast and tomato & basil roll-up. I had the corn beef hash and eggs and my companion had 2wo corn pancakes with sweet corn filling. The dishes came out I seen them first and I made the oh my god face, the pancakes were the size of my head and there was two of them on the plate. My dish was great the eggs where perfect and the hash was cooked like breakfast hash should be cooked, burnt edges and crunchy bits. I sampled the corn pancakes they had a sweet corn filling with candied walnuts it was eating a cornbread cake . If your ever just driving around or your gps takes you to oneonta, my for no reason but to add 45 mins to your drive somehow get onto route 10 to Jefferson, ny and hopefully amiee is working, she was a great hostess and waitress. read more

Review time kids!! Here it is Sunday, and the bride and I are offspring free(they're probably still in detention! Sorry I had to do it!) We start by looking for places out of our general area and stumbled upon this place! After mode of transport was chosen, we hopped on the bike for the 1-1/2 hour jaunt. This place would be difficult to find without the assistance of gps! Picture a New England farm town, without a stoplight. Now take the old general and convert it to this gem! Sitting porch and all!Enter and you will be instantly hungry! The the smell of fresh breakfast was almost intoxicating!! Greeted by what had to be one of the owners kids(I'll call him "Jr")we were seated promptly and served some very good coffee! Things did get a little sideways with us and "jr". After asking if they were serving lunch or breakfast he came off as pretentious and rude. That didn't work and we made it known. He bowed out of the picture, relinquishing us to another server. On to the reason we chose this place, the food! Starving we ordered an appetizer for breakfast ,a berry smooth flapjack roll up, this thing had to be a foot long and at least 4 inches in diameter! Stuffed with a jam-cream cheese filling.....so yummy! The bride went with sautéed crisp mozzarella and eggs with prosciutto. Man what a combo! I went for the sausage gravy and biscuits, homemade and savory, just awesome!!! The question here is, how in the world, is this place surviving in the middle of east nowhere ? The food is just that good! read more

Completely unexpected, great place to eat. Previous reviews about service I'm guessing are on weekends or when they're super busy, so I can't comment on that. My service was excellent. The owner was extremely friendly and made sure we had everything we needed without being overbearing. Food: The food was very good and reasonably priced. It shouldn't be hard to make breakfast food but somehow people find a way. This was not the case here. I had the cinn a bun pancake. I actually went two days in a row, it was so good I brought the family back the next day. Had the same pancakes both days and they were excellent both times. The rest of the family loved their food too. This is the only other place in the county I'll return to regularly to eat. (Bistro in Sharon springs is the other). The Inside was really nicely done too. My only knock is the coffee is just okay. I'm guessing who they source their coffee from tells them its freshly roasted but leaves out that they are roasting low quality beans. They should seriously look into getting coffee from a place like Chris coffee in Albany for probably the same price as they're paying now. read more

Best Breakfast in the area! Great decor, friendly atmosphere and even better food. Original meals that you wont find anywhere else. Great selection! The coffee is always fresh and hot. Holy Jebus; I am so glad I found this hidden gem in the northern Catskills! I would say keep this a secret, but any place that makes food this good should pull from a 50 mile radius of people looking for breakfast and be super successful (which apparently they are). I will dream about the housemade sausage and bread for the next two weeks until I am in the area again. The owner and the staff were super nice, the crowd was super diverse, and the food was ridiculously good. DFA.....go here. read more

Unbelievably good. One of the best breakfasts I have ever had the pleasure of eating. Staff are super friendly, and the owner Ron was such a character. My family spent a week in Jefferson. We ate 3 breakfasts and one lunch there over the course of the week. The portions are HUGE!!! The food tastes great! Western omelette and meat lovers omelette are excellent. The stuffed French toast was amazing! Not a bad dish all week. I had pancakes one morning and could not come close to finishing two pancakes. They were almost a foot across and thick but very tasty. It is a family run business and the family is very friendly. The only thing that could be improved is the air conditioning, which was only needed for one meal. read more

Surprise. Nicely renovated - used to be a great restaurant 12 years ago. Anyway- really nice family run upscale, fancy, clever, well-done, be cool abywhEre breakfast place. Could not have been more pleased with this choice for breakfast. Middle of nowhere, no cell service, home made EVERYTHING, and the cherry on top...I find out all the staff are volunteers and that the proceeds go to feeding hungry children. Seriously, you will not find a place like this. Be warned it is a wait for food but don't let that discourage you, great things come to those who wait. read more

Ended up here on maple weekend and the family and I had an amazing experience. The stuffed French toast was incredible and the pancakes (normal ones and the cinnamon iced ones) were plate-sized and delicious. I really enjoyed this experience. There is something special about having to drive 30 minutes from the nearest town to get to a little country breakfast nook that serves you on mismatched plates. I had the spinach and prosciutto omelette and it was good, but the real star of the show was the jelly. Some of the best I've had. read more

I can't find enough adjectives for delicious to describe this food. Everything is homemade, including the bread/toast...which is crazy good! I had the turkey bacon omelette with cranberry cream cheese sauce and the flavor complexity was amazing. Whoever made this menu has a sophisticated palate and a great understanding of flavor combinations. The roll ups are delicious, as well. The coffee is nice and strong, how I like it, and the home fries don't even need ketchup. I also buy local honey whenever we visit, which is such a great idea to offer! Very pleasant experience and the owner is super nice! We plan our trips to the area around getting breakfast here. HIGHLY recommended! read more
