TP's is a nice quaint cafe with limited seating and cash only. But they do accept Zelle. The service was ok with minimal smiling but prompt service. The bacon and eggs were cooked well but the reason for 3 stars were the pancakes. I never complain but I had to because it was so burnt. One side was so dark and the other side was as white as me. When I got the replacement, it was perfect. But why would you even send it out to the kitchen. My kids pancakes were like that too, but she was eating other food to satisfy her. Sure it could have been a fluke but it can be perceived of careless service. read more

We are so very, very happy to find a place that's not trying to be hip or trendy or edgy, but just serves excellent breakfast food. When we lived in The Big City, we walked to a local diner at least once a week. We had a regular table and everyone knew us, and as soon as we stepped through the door, they brought us coffee. Since we started moving, in stages, upstate, we've tried to recreate a relationship like that, with mixed results. Finally, after our last-and-final move, we're hoping that TP's will be the place. Eggs were a perfect soft scramble, the wheat bread was a good loaf (and well toasted), and the home fries, which I don't even usually like, were the best either of us has ever tasted. No peppers or onions, just really well-seasoned potatoes cooked extra crispy, just like I wanted. Coffee was diner-decent, and the staff was quick with refills. They were so friendly, too, it was a great place to get in from the cold. I'm betting the lunch food is good, too, but that's for another day. And I loved the tablecloths! Great place. My family was starving and only had a little time to get some food before going snow tubing. We called them and asked if they could have it ready for us for when we get there. It was a lot to ask for a busy day there. When we got there, the food was all sitting on the table, just waiting for us, all delicious and awesome. I wish I could remember everything we ordered, but all I recall is that it was so yummy, even though we were in such a hurry because my daughter takes so damned long to get ready. I can't find any reason to take a star away, even being cash only didn't offend me because they have an ATM and the fee isn't even insane! Parking across the street (by a sweet little park), it's a small place but the decor is great. ATM, register and kitchen to the immediate left, restroom straight back (large, single seater, very clean) and a handful of tables. They were able to seat us right away, despite being 6 adults and a baby. The menu was pretty standard issue, but they had a few interesting omelette options. My husband said his Meat Lovers omelette had the perfect ratios of all the meats. The portions were generous and our coffee cups were never more than half empty. Everything is clearly made there, we watched them take out rolls!! The waitresses (and patrons!) were so nice and friendly! The cost was reasonable too! I can't get over what a little gem TP's is. This place was recommended to us for a great lunch spot so we stopped in, and we were certainly not disappointed! This is your classic small town diner, just like the places I'd eat in while growing up. They serve a lunch and breakfast menu all day. My father went with a breakfast item, and he was raving about the pancakes he ate. I had the reuben sandwich, and it was one of the better ones I've had recently. They make a reuben as they're supposed to be made, with the perfect proportions of meat, dressing, and kraut. The staff is incredibly friendly and accommodating. A huge family group came in while were there because it was raining outside, and they did everything possible to get them all seated together in the back without acting like it was a hassle at all. The last thing I'll add is that the prices were great and I would absolutely recommend TP's to anyone on a day trip or passing through the area. read more

I love this cafe! We've been here twice so far, and it has become a place I depend on to fuel us up before a ride on the Catskill Scenic Trail. We have ordered sandwiches both times and both times they were delicious! Sandwiches come with chips and a dill pickle. This last time I ordered lemonade, and Oh My Gosh--it was freshly squeezed with real lemon pulp. So delicious. It hit the spot. I'm impressed with the inside decor as it is cheerful without being overbearing. I can't wait for the pandemic health precautions to ease, and we can enjoy a full meal inside! There is outside dining on the porch but it was already full when I arrived. Last time I bought chocolate chip cookies that are stacked by the cashier. They were perfect! I took them home and made ice cream sandwiches with them. The service is fast for take-out, and they used this last time compostable clam shells instead of environmental nightmare-Styrofoam. So that was impressive also. At the time of this review, the cafe does not accept cards, although there is an ATM inside the cafe that charges $2.50 to take out money. Checks are also welcome. I'd like to emphasize the convenience of this cafe as it is situated directly off the Catskill Scenic Trail. A side trail up a large bluff leads you to the public parking lot behind the cafe on Main Street. You won't have to go far if you need food and a break from your adventures. Truly a welcome a pit stop for trail users. As I said, this cafe is literally a bright spot that serves up quality, no non-sense delicious food. I'm looking forward to our next bicycle ride in Stamford so that I can explore more of their menu. read more

Damn fine breakfast. The place was packed on a Saturday morning. Food came promptly. I had the small plate breakfast with eggs pancake and bacon plus a side of home fries with onions. The waitress was very nice and kept the coffee coming even though she was slammed. Home fries were not the dry crispy style and were more farm style so maybe a little greasier than you are used to, but they had great flavor and didn't bother me at all. Egg arrived as ordered. (Over ez) My kid ordered the waffle, with blueberries and whipped cream. I had a bite of that and it was really dense and cake-y not my preference but he enjoyed it, but didn't come close to finishing it. Wife had the same thing I did but egg over medium, and she enjoyed her breakfast. Singing them one star because there wasn't a credit/debit card option at the register and the ATM wouldn't take my debit card, so that was an inconvenience but other than that very good breakfast and good service. read more

The average dinner fare is competent but the cook texting while cooking my food was disgusting I found that he is the owner! It make me sick to see that he had no gloves touch my food with bare hands while he texted! What else does he do while cooking?... the place it's crowded and if they don't know you you get bare minimum almost as if it is an inconvenience. No other payment than cash, ummm ok. Seat in a loud crowded places where you may get service or food for not a cheap price. Nah thanks... to bad it not more places in Stamford to eat perhaps that it's their advantage. read more

I have yet to be disappointed with these guys. Food is cooked to order, nothing just hanging out on the grill. They will accommodate a substitution, unless your substitution is unreasonable. This area has very few sit down breakfast places. The closest diner is Prattsville, nothing of merit in Davenport and then nothing competitive until Oneonta. So basically in a 20 mile radius of Stamford there is effectively nothing similar except a couple of diners (grand gorge and Prattsville). The Good: Food is good, fresh, good ingredients and so really good bang for the buck. The Bad: they get moderately busy and the staff cannot well handle call in orders for pick up. They get frazzled, no focus on accuracy of the order, they are rushing and give inaccurate times for pickup and so on. It is just too disorganized to scale effectively. Also, if you slightly expanded your coffee options I think you would become a core go to hub in the region. My advise to the owner is to invest in some technology, take orders electronically, allow remote pay via credit card or whatever, have an efficient pick up scheme. I think you good do bigger business, generate more revenue per hour. I know I tend to avoid this cafe now because of the disorganization and long waiting for pickup orders. read more

I'm in Stamford New York and I'm hungry. Stamford is a small village but has notable places to eat. I are at Vastas last night and had a nice meal. I didn't time tonight well but found this family restaurant just at closing time. They took me in, regardless of just starting to close at seven. I needed quick and I needed meat. There are no chain restaurants like McDonald's or Burger King here and that's just as well. I had one of the best cheese burgers ever. The owner is conversant, his wife fast with my order and a smile. I didn't feel like a burden even though he was scraping the grill, wrapping the rolls he and his staff make every day. I asked what he likes to make for breakfast and as you might guess, it's everything. He says he goes through 150 dozen eggs every week. Crack away. I highly recommend this clean, friendly family restaurant if you're traveling through Stamford. I'm back for breakfast in the morning. read more

Me and my partner are visiting from NYC to get away from the city. We decided to check out this cafe since it wasn't far from our AirBnB. We were seated right away and the waitress was so kind. We got our food within 15 minutes and it was fresh and hot and everything was DELICIOUS! The price is great for how much food they give you. We loved it so much that we wanted to go back for lunch but the problem is they closed at 3, so we will probably go back tomorrow. read more

Decent food on fresh baked rolls, what's not to like. Food: Simple Menu of Eggs, Pancakes, Sandwiches, Burgers, but they do it well. They cook their roast beef and turkey in-house and their burgers are great. Atmosphere: Cute little cafe with brightly colored tablecloths. Great Breakfast! Several family members from different parts of the state met in Stamford for a one meal reunion on March 31, 2019, Stamford being the mid-point between us. We arrived at 11:15 am on a Sunday and were immediately seated, although the place was crowded (a good sign, to be sure). There were three of us, and we had the french toast, an omelette, and the pancakes. All were very good. Really good. The servers are attentive and friendly, the plates and silverware are clean, and we considered ourselves very fortunate to have found such a great place to meet and have a delicious Sunday breakfast. I can't imagine that there is a better place for breakfast within a hundred miles . . . Note that they don't take credit cards, so have some cash with you. read more

The best blueberry pancakes I have ever had. I dream about these pancakes. On this visit I was salivating watching the chef cook up my order. I can't even eat pancakes anywhere else now because they do not compare - & I live in brooklyn. I make a trip to Catskills every once a year and TP's is one stop I have to make twice. The bacon cheese burger is delicious, the fries are rustic and very interesting, the onion rings are good enough for proposal, and the home fries, oh boy the home fries are the best I have ever have. It's a welcoming place with a simple but incredibly delicious menu and friendly wait staffs. So let's face it, if you are reading a yelp review on a diner up on the Catskills mountain you are probably a city dweller like me, trust me on this, you can't get this in the city. read more

I've just had the best Baccon Cheese burger that I've had in years. I wish that I could describe it further but that says it! I have the onion rings - which were malt-shop good. My lovely dining partner he the fires which were hand cut and dark golden brown and - very worth eating [in a world of frozen fries] If one were forced to complain - I could say that the soft drink glasses could be larger. Was in the area for a wedding and stopped in for breakfast. There is a counter you can sit at and maybe 20 tables or so. We were immediately greeted, shown to our table and given menus. They serve breakfast all day. We ordered drinks and then our breakfast. My husband got the waffle and I had a sausage, egg and cheese sandwich on an English muffin. Every year I take a trip to South Kortright New York and for the past 2 years, my group and I have made stops to TP Café for breakfast. I definitely recommend this place. The food is consistent, the service is friendly, and they also are very accommodating to groups which is always appreciated. I've only ordered breakfast here and I've tried a few different foods. You feel very local here and it's a cozy restaurant that makes you feel like you're eating in someones personal kitchen. The things that I would recommend getting are: egg white flatbread sandwich with feta cheese, red peppers, and spinach (so good, great portion and the flatbread is nice and soft), the bacon (nice, long, crispy strips) and the home fries (ask for it well done, so much better!). I also like their corned beef hash--if you ask for it as a side, it's a good amount of food, definitely enough for 2, maybe 3 to share. This is a great place for a laid back breakfast/lunch and it's a place I look forward to ever year! read more
