Cute, cute place near Stamford, NY. Came here for the Catskills, got an awesome breakfast out of it. The interior of the Coffee Pot is filled wall to wall ceiling to floor with so many cute and kitschy trinkets that decorate the place and bring everything together. Their menu is typical and they have some rotating special desserts and treats. We got their apple strusel which was loaded with store bought whipped cream and I got their French toast with eggs. The apple was alright...It's a crepe with cinnamon sweet apples folded in - not really my style and I'm not in love with rediwhip whipped cream so it was a bit underwhelming, but their regular breakfast is great. The Coffee Pot is a small country restaurant located in the small hamlet of Hobart serving up breakfast, lunch, and ice cream, owned and operated by couple Mike and Geri. This family friendly restaurant is a popular gathering spot in this community. The place looks very nice and was rebuilt and reopened after a fire last year. The atmosphere is very inviting and cozy inside with a counter, open kitchen/grill area, and booth seating with plenty of classic and vintage signs & antiques decorated on the finished wood walls and beams. Sort of reminds me of a smaller Cracker Barrel. I stopped here for Saturday breakfast recently after driving through very windy and treacherous wintery like driving conditions with several white outs for almost 2 hours. The place was fairly busy when I arrived here around 11:10AM, as the breakfast rush was winding down. I was greeted by Geri and given a menu and she told me about the breakfast specials offered.* It was already after 11AM though... Mike was doing the cooking in the kitchen. Initially, I was going to get a coffee and muffin to go and continue on my way to Delhi. However, I decided this was a good time to take a break from the road and enjoy a real meal. It took me a while to decide what I wanted to eat. I started out with some hot coffee ($0.90) as I looked over the menu. The coffee was brewed just right. The breakfast menu offerings include egg dishes, 3-4 egg omelets, breakfast sandwiches, pancakes, French toast, bagels, muffins, & breakfast sides. The regular menu offerings include grilled sandwich platters, soups, salads, wings, chicken tenders, fries, sweet potato fries, and homemade desserts including ice cream treats and Geri's apple strudel. Kids menus for breakfast and lunch are available. The prices are very fair, menu items priced under $8. 9 Breakfast Specials are offered Mon-Sat: 6AM-11AM ONLY*, and Sun: All Day. No pancakes served after 11AM Mon-Sat. I finally decided on the Big Breakfast ($5.95): 2 Eggs (Scrambled), Home Fries, Meat (Sausage), and Toast (Wheat). The hot food was served in under 10 minutes. The breakfast was good and the portion was just right. The eggs were fluffy, the homefries were grilled and browned with small green peppers & onions, the wheat toast was buttered, and the sausage patty was grilled brown, a bit dry on the outside. Nonetheless, the breakfast was filling to eat. The service was pretty decent and I was given a refill on the coffee. The total came out to $6.85 plus tax & before tip. The price for this 'breakfast special #2" would've been $5.25 plus tax if I got here before 11AM.* read more

This is a small diner with a great menu but some things to be aware of. It was clean and had the funky decor that we love about places like this. I've been here twice now with several companions each time, and I would say the quality of the dishes is variable. The omelettes are awesome! The sandwiches (we've sampled BLT and burger) are fine. Basic egg breakfasts seem more challenging, and beware the cheddar cheese on the "farmers daughter" breakfast. It is the vile cheese sauce that will ruin anything it touches after being poured from its can. Convenience for customers is not exactly a priority here either, as only cash is accepted, and apparently bills come only by table and can't be split. read more

This is a fantastic little place! If Cracker Barrel and a diner had a love child this would be it. The two that run the diner are great folks. He is the Jimmy Hendrix of the grill area and breakfast food. We were lucky enough to still be there when it slowed down and we got to chat with the owners that run it. Awesome folks! If you're in the area, do yourself a favor and stop in.. According to them they want to sell the shop, so if you fall in love with the area and the shop, buy it! Update.. We got a piece of apple pie to go.. If was perfect! Didn't need ice cream or whip.. The crust wasn't dry, wasn't too sweet or lacking in any way. read more

Stop here for breakfast. Good food, nice people, and lots of cool stuff to look at. Not many people here when we arrived, but I remember the employee called most of the people by name. Makes me think it's a hangout for the locals. It's a cool place, you should stop by if you get a chance. read more

The Coffee Pot is a good little family owned diner. Food is always delicious, and the owners are really nice. Prices can be a bit expensive for the amount of food you get, but it doesn't bother me because it's so yummy! They also made a great recovery after the building burned down a few years ago. What a Great place to have breakfast or lunch. My Cousins and I have a hunting cabin deep in the woods and look forward to getting our coffee and a delicious breakfast nice and early every time we're upstate. It's a family run business and they truly make you feel like family. If we have extra hunters with us they stay upstairs in one of their Great rooms. It's alright, the food is what you would get from a "greasy spoon diner" which is pretty cool but now they have decided not to take credit cards all of a sudden? Who carries cash anymore? get with the times and at least get an iPad with the card reader. read more

This was a great little breakfast spot with a lot of character. Perfect for our trip to the Catskills for a wedding. Good coffee and lots of very tasty breakfast options. Stopped for breakfast on our way to Minekill State Park - delicious food - I had the French toast with scrambled eggs and bacon and my husband had eggs over easy with corn beef hash - traditional and very good. Only thing was that the coffee was surprisingly weak - tasted ok but def could have made it stronger considering the name of the restaurant. read more

Me and my husband drive by on our way upstate to see family. It looked like a nice place for breakfast. We were very wrong. When we parked by the building there were rodents running around the dumpster and the side of the building. Inside was disgusting beyond belief. We were giving and attitude and the food was for short not worth stoping even for coffee. I feel like this should be out there. It is honestly the most disgusting, rude, filthy place I've ever been. They should have the health Dept stop there because looks like they haven't cleaned in along long time hope this helps people avoid this nasty place. read more
