Thankful we got here early (just after opening on a Sunday morning), because the place filled up shortly after. I would definitely suggest making a reservation on a weekend if you need to be in at a specific time. The ambiance is immaculate here. There are plants all around the seating area - tons of variety. Great advertisement for the plant shop! As for the food - my sister and I both tried a smoothie and the breakfast panini. This is easily a top three breakfast sandwich for me. It's on the rich side with the melty cheese and buttery eggs, but so worth it. The kale smoothie was refreshing. We will definitely be back next time we're in town to try some other menu items. My mom and I had a wonderful lunch at origins. The concept is fantastic. Extremely local and seasonal with exceptionally fresh, diverse, and delicious menu. Beautiful staff who are so welcoming. The ambiance is magical. It is the kind of place you want to spend time. It would be great for a special event too. The food was delicious. My mom got the special salad of the day with tofu and al of the flavors and textures blended together so well. And it was very filling. I got the ratatouille over mashed potatoes. It was extremely hearty and so delicious. Both plates were huge portions. We had to try desserts. We got the ricotta pistachio cake with a raspberry drizzle. It was excellent. We also got the dark chocolate zucchini cake and it was incredibly decadent. Yum. Overall we had a wonderful time and we look forward to returning this season and many seasons to come. read more

This place is simply beautiful--like stepping into a fairy tale! The only thing missing was a deer... though there was a very friendly dog, which made it even better. The atmosphere is relaxed and welcoming, with a laid-back vibe that makes you want to stay awhile. The waitress told me the place is only open from April to October. In October, friends and family come together to store all the tropical plants, bringing them back again in the spring--which adds to the charm and sense of community. The food was good, though not quite top-notch. They change the menu daily, which is fun. We had a beef sandwich and a sesame soba--both were decent, but not particularly memorable. We went for lunch it was very busy but we we're seated quickly on the patio, which was lovely. The waitress was very friendly and efficient. We ordered hibiscus tea and lavender lemonade which were both garnished with fresh herbs they were both delicious. The portobello bloomer on GF bread was more than I hoped for you could not even tell it was gluten free bread, the mushroom flavors were perfect. The side salad was so good I was wishing for more of it . The caprese quiche was very tasty it was great not dense but nice and creamy with all fresh herbs. We were to full for dessert but saw a carrot cake and a chocolate zucchini cake go by and they looked very appealing, may have to go back for tea and dessert. read more

My wife, two teenage sons (15 yrs, 13 yrs), and I came here in early August for Sunday brunch at 11:30am after a morning visit to the Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown. This restaurant was highly recommended by the owner of our AirBnB rental in Sharon Springs, NY. First, it's a lovely, spacious outdoor setting that is covered and allows for social distancing. It's similar to being inside an open-air greenhouse. We had live music playing in the background and the initial service at check-in was friendly and professional. Second, the appetizers and dishes were healthy and filling. I would recommend the $20 sampler of local artisan cheeses, which provided an elegant start to our meal. It was busy as most tables were occupied. There were only 2 minor blemishes. One is that service can be slow during peak times (like Sunday brunch) when it's super-busy. This is a place to enjoy a leisurely meal. The second blemish is difficult to explain. One waitstaff person (not our main server) was a little rude when we politely asked for new place settings (napkins and utensils) which were missing when we were first seated. Really really love this place. Great outdoor setting next to their greenhouse, the place has a ton of plants all around and some water running. Can't beat the setting. They also have bands, which is a good thing to look up prior to coming. They have 2 different smoothies (although, they may rotate based on the season) both of which were great. I had a mushroom soup that was my favorite meal, but not on the menu 2 days later. The soba noodles were good, but our other dishes were better, for me a tad to heavy on the sauce. I had a panini with pesto and eggs, the bread was awesome as were the eggs and caramilized onions. Kid loved the burrito, slight variation each day, but similar. I absolutely love this place. I found it on a whim a few years ago while visiting Cooperstown and come back every time I'm around. They are always busy but always have exceptional food and service. The menu changes quite often but there's always a handful of vegan items and just all around good and healthy options that are locally sourced and organic. It feels like you're dining inside a botanical garden here, it's so calming and beautiful. The atmosphere is really great, even when they're busy it doesn't feel hectic. I love that there's a nursery attached so you can also pick up some new plants after your meal. I got a vegan peanut soba noodle dish with vegetables and tofu that was really great. I'm not sure what the tofu was marinated in but I could have kept eating it all day. My friend got a kale and quinoa salad which he also really liked. The fresh lavender lemonade I got was perfectly tart and sweet and my friend loved the pineapple kombucha on tap that he got. The service we had was really nice despite it being a busy Saturday there. I don't know when I'll be in Cooperstown next but I know this place will always be somewhere I stop at. read more

Off the beaten path, but worth every bit of the 10 minute excursion from city center. This place exemplifies its name "Origins" - since the cafe is literally set inside the confines of a absolutely beautiful nursery. Almost everything that is plated and served at the cafe' is locally sourced from the area's farming and agricultural community, or it is acquired through an extensive network of "Fair" trade farm suppliers. The menu changes regularly and seasonally based on trade availability, but I see this as a positive. Who wants to eat things that are not seasonal when the motif is to provide the freshest and plentiful commodities to your plate? Along this line of thought, the restaurant does have limited hours of operation during the late fall and winter months due to scarcity of supplies and because this area of NY is heavily reliant on tourism, but when the spring and summer rolls around I urge you to plan wisely, as getting a table is going to be difficult. Excellent wines (some local) and local brews are on hand for those who partake and nothing is ridiculously priced! A+ on that! Reservations and/or good planning are highly advisable.
