Another gem on Central Ave!…read more Located on Route 5 EB in Colonie, just west of the Northway (I-87), Fat Boy Kababs & Pizzeria is a low key Middle Eastern/pizza shop in the former Mathura Indian Restaurant/Hookah Lounge Cafe space with parking along the building on Holland Ave. The place is order at the counter with overhead lighted menu boards offering chicken, beef and lamb tikkas, koftas, shawarmas, wraps, gyros, lamb shank, wings, fried fish, tandoori fish, zinger sandwiches, fries, and pizzas. Most dinners priced $9.99-$14.99 in 2024. Pizzas are priced $17.99-$24.99 in 2024. There is booth seating in the front window and along the wall opposite the counter area. I've stopped by here twice over the past 2 weeks for dinner takeout. I ordered the #4 Beef Kofta Dinner ($14.99 plus tax) and the #1 Chicken Tikka Dinner ($14.99 plus tax), both served with rice pulao, soft pita bread and cold salad with yogurt & spicy dressings. Both the seasoned firm beef koftas (2 long pieces) and chicken tikkas (2 skewers) of marinated grilled chicken over the soft rice pulao were excellent and had nice flavors. The small cold salads were different on each visit. given a chopped mix of cucumbers, red onions, tomatoes and seasonings on the initial visit and on the next visit, the salad had half lettuce and half chopped mix of cucumbers, red onions, tomatoes and seasonings. I dipped the meats in the sauces for extra tasty flavors. I will have to stop in again for the Chicken Shawarma over Rice!

Marino's Pizza - Chicken parm - they wrapped each half up separately, which I thought was considerate

The pizza here is definitely an acquired taste. It's a round pie (cooked in an almost a deep dish…read morestyle pan) and cut into squares. The pizza is greasier than NY style pies, but is still crispy and delicious. Their subs are the best - stuffed full with meat, cheese and toppings. We usually go light on the mayo as it can be heavy ordered regular. Subs here are better bang for your buck than Roma's IMO. Cash only, but I look forward to getting a pizza, sub and wings every time I'm home visiting family.

The chicken tenders were super crisp! Loved them when eating at the shop. Once bringing home, they were not as crispy, so recommend eating there. Husband loved his chicken parm and said the chicken was amazing. Presentation of the salad was on point and they mentioned their salad dressings are Ken's, I can appreciate this, because Ken's is still family run with real ingredients. We ordered one cheese pizza, 4 chicken tenders, a chicken salad, chicken parm sub and 3 drinks and it came to roughly $70.00. Out of their menu, most people walking in were ordering subs the day we went and they also do catering as one person picked up a catering order. I agree with previous reviews that the pizza is greasy. It is cut St. Louis style, which pleasantly surprised me and set this place aside from the other pizza joints in town. It's definitely a variation of a deep dish with a medium sized crust, definitely not thin. I would probably give 4 stars if restrooms were available.

Absolutely INCONCEIVABLE how amazing this place is! We…read morerecently stayed in the area for a youth baseball tournament in Cooperstown and ended up eating here THREE nights in a row--that is how phenomenal it is. The food is incredible. The owner and chef is immensely talented, serving up fresh, farm-to-table dishes. Because everything is so fresh, the specifics change nightly, but everything we ordered was a huge win. The beef carpaccio was dynamite, and the Prosciutto Pizza, house-made focaccia bread, "farm goodies," bolognese, hangar steak, and caprese ravioli were all absolutely delicious. You can taste the quality and care in every single bite. (Sorry no pics...we were too busy eating!) Beyond the stellar food, the cocktail menu is an absolute blast. They have a whole lineup of delicious, creative craft drinks with "The Princess Bride" themed names! Trying the different drinks became half the fun of our dinners. What truly sets this place apart, though, is the service. We had a server named Beth whom we absolutely loved. By the third night, she knew exactly what my daughter wanted to drink as soon as we sat down! The owners and the entire staff are warm, welcoming, and treat you like family. If you are anywhere near Oneonta or Cooperstown, do yourself a huge favor and eat here. We will definitely be back the next time we are in town!

We moved out of our comfort zone to try a farm to table restaurant. It was a beautiful old house…read moreturned into a restaurant. We didn't have a reservation but went at 5:20 and they seated us. It did get busy, so if going - make one. Menu is a one page printed list of items for starters , entrée and other items. We ordered good glass of wine and started with some pastry filled items that were tasty. Focaccia bread was fresh and tasty. My husband ordered the steak which was grilled, and was so crispy on outside he couldn't eat it. He was just going to buck up and eat something he wasn't enjoying, until the manger came by and asked how things were? He told her it was too done on outside. Inside was pink and tender but the black outside - he just wasn't going for it... so she immediately said we will do another and put it in the oven. It came out great! Fingerlings and Brussels sprouts were a great side. I ordered the fried chicken- which was kinda a hot honey crispy delight. Tender, fresh and juicy. Served with a large piece of cornbread and green beans. We were full when time to pay, which was a little pricy, but with wine and appetizer was average for a good meal out- and this one was so fresh and creative. When in town- a nice evening. It's kinda close inside, so a bit noisy, but overall I recommend it as the service we received was the best of our road trip.
