Each chair has a name engraved on the bar in front of it. From this, I knew this would be a friendly place. This is a family owned and operated business. The dad greeted us warmly and manned the bar. The mom was the chef who made wonderful, homemade food like you'd expect from your grandma. Their son was helping out in kitchen. We met and chatted with them all. The food - yummy!! Local, fresh and made with love. I had meatloaf sandwich. Great taste. My fave was my son's BBQ pulled pork which was smoked for 12 hours behind the restaurant. The side of mac and cheese out of this world I had potato wedges topped with cheese, bacon and scallions. So good. Best part - I had rented a hotel that was 45 Min from Cooperstown. Oops. The dad and two other locals eating at bar helped me tremendously in finding new lodging. They gave me Many options. Turns out I rented a beautiful house on the owners' property up a small Hill. They said I could pay them after my stay. I'm from Detroit so this small town trust warmed my heart.

The only original menu item that has survived is the "famous" Hot Open Veggie, which is more or less the same except you can't add tofu or tempeh without paying for the full side order. Also, they ditched the amazing tofu marinade for... no marinade? It had no flavor, and the tempeh was cut into skinny triangles and all dried out. It used to come in cubes, and was an awesome addition to Hot Open Veggie. I couldn't eat it. Where is the tempeh burger? It used to be so delicious. I was going to come twice in one day to get both. I ended up leaving after my disappointing meal, the first one I've ever had at The Autumn. Can someone pay some attention to what has kept that place open for like forty years? I guess not.

They have a whole lineup of delicious, creative craft drinks with "The Princess Bride" themed names! Trying the different drinks became half the fun of our dinners. What truly sets this place apart, though, is the service. We had a server named Beth whom we absolutely loved. Perfect for sharing with a friend or two! When the steak came out, I was in shock. I have never seen that much meat on a single platter, let alone a single tomahawk - it was truly a big steak. The steak itself was done nicely - I have no complaints. It's meat, grilled - and to the doneness I expected. My problem was the sides, which honestly could have been a bit better. The potato didn't really come with much more than a slice of melted cheese and bacon (would have liked chives or sour cream, or even a noticeable amount of butter), and the onion rings were fairly lackluster. The "seasonal vegetables" that came with the steak were also a very modest portion of... carrots. Just carrots with a sweet glaze. Not necessarily bad carrots (maybe slightly underdone), but I expected... at least one other vegetable. I think some more variety to the veggies (plus just more to eat alongside this monstrous steak) would have made this much more of an enjoyable experience. I definitely walked out that night feeling full, but not truly satisfied. My partner-in-crime and I did finish almost the entire steak, after all. She handled our entire group with so much grace and professionalism. She kept everything organized, made sure the kids' food went in first, stayed on top of drinks and orders, and somehow managed to get all 30 of us taken care of and on our way in great time. The bartender was also incredibly nice and helpful, and together they kept everything running smoothly despite being short-staffed. The food did not disappoint either! The Reuben, burger, and Reuben burger were all fantastic, and of course the boys loved the wings and boneless wings. So nice, so accommodating. The place is nice and clean and has nice vibe to it. The party I was with wanted separate checks which I knew would be a pain for this guy. But he did it for us and not only were there zero mistakes, everything came out at the same time. The wholes staff, (I think four people) were great and so friendly. The food was also great. Not going to say it was like nothing I've ever had but it was great pub food. Reasonable pricing, clean place, friendly service and great food. Five stars and I highly recommend it!!!
