    Crab Louie

Ambiance and views are great. There are several tables for two along the pier. I noticed that a dog was at almost every table. Not always a good idea. They should be spaced out. Food was another issue. Very disappointing. My husband ordered the fish and chips. I didn't think it was anything special. Just so so. The clam chowder was good. I liked the crispy bacon in it. The crab Louis was awful. I really should have sent it back. Normally, Louis comes with thousand island dressing. This tasted like a vinaigrette, which made it vinegary and bright, as if it masked the crab. There was no bread served with it and for the hefty price, it simply wasn't worth it. Service was okay.

I cant think of another place thats an hours drive away that we go to more frequently...that should really speak to the experience at Nicks Cove. Great food, an amazing view and friendly service.

The views were exceptional. The service was ok . The food was another story! The fish and chips tasted frozen, fishy , and soggy . The outside was crispy but fish inside was mushy ! The Cole slaw was very bland . The tempora fritto misto appetizer was the most unappetizing thing I've ever eaten. You couldn't tell what each piece was until you bit into it or tore it apart . Very bland no seasoning too much batter and a weird combo of fried things . Will not go back

This was a bucket list restaurant and it did not disappoint. We went for lunch and it was nice and quiet. No traffic because it was early April and there was still a bit of a chill in the air. The service was fantastic, the food was even better. I've never had BBQ'D Oysters and I don't know if anyone would be able to top this experience. The food was reasonably priced and I'm looking forward to go back.

Was a fantastic selection of food to tease the senses. Great wine selection albeit in the pricey side. Corkage fee is only $20 so worth brining your own if you want to spend money on the food. Food selections were reasonably priced. The salad had a bit too much dressing already applied for me, would have asked for it on the side if I'd known. The fries are unique with Lemon zest. Highly recommend. Only option for dinner in the Dillon, Tomales Bay Area.

Solid choice on Bodega Bay. When most places around were closed , Nick's Cove was open to save the day. Ended up dinning there twice. Service was exceptional. Sweet, personable, and attentive staff. Wide mix of dinners ; young families, old friends, business meetings, road trippers stopping down the coast. Ordered one of everything on the happy hour menu one night. The next : fish and chips & the Shells and Meats tower, Miso Caesar salad. Great atmosphere, spectacular views of the Bay. Just a nice place to take the whole family.

We came based on a locals rec. We were seated almost immediately, but it seemed as though there was only one server for the entire room we were in. The young man was kind and tried his best, but this meal start to finish took entirely too long and he never even came to check on us. Three other people came and dropped off food and drinks. Started with the fries with eyes. Not great. Deep fried smelt. Pretty fishy tasting and served with just basic tarter. We only had a few each before deciding it was a no. We both had cioppino. The broth was good. There were 7 mussels , 4 clams and 6 crab leg sections, still in shell. The crab made the meal extra messy and we were not given extra napkins and again, no check ins to even ask for some. Dessert was just ok. We tried the ice cream, the s'mores and the chocolate cake. Nothing stood out. The room was chilly. Noticeably different temperature than sitting in the main building by the bar. Overall just an okay meal, so leaving with a $200 tab for two people and one set of drinks was a tough pill to swallow.

The crab roll is quite fresh, the chips are homemade and freshly prepared. (The quantities are petite so you have order extra)

    What time is happy hour?

We were there in Aug 22. There was no happy hour or even cocktails. Beer in a can and eat outside. Pick up and bus yourself. Skip it and go to Tony's.

Is the restaurant still cafeteria style or have you started being a fine dining restaurant with table service again? If not, when will that happen so we can start going back for a culinary experience rather than just a view?

We were just there 12/3/21 and they were serving regular dinners. We didn't see anyone in the dining area by the bar but did see people outside dining.

Is Nicks Cove pet friendly in their outdoor seating area? We have small dogs and want to stop there for lunch during our visit.

Yes, they are pet-friendly. And it's pawwwwfect for small dogs!

    Do they offer corkage?

Corkage is 20$, however we will wave it if you buy a bottle of our wine.

What are your hours for lunch so we can order off the lunch menu rather than the short menu?

We had a 7:45pm dinner reservation and arrived on time, only to find no one at the host stand. After waiting about 10 minutes, someone finally came and seated us around 7:55. Water was poured, and then nothing. No server ever came to our table. After sitting there for 30 minutes without anyone taking our order or even checking in, we left at 8:25. Really disappointing, because the food actually looked good. We were staying nearby and decided to give it another shot the next morning for breakfast, which was included with our hotel stay. Unfortunately, it was more of the same. We arrived around 9am, again no one at the host stand. We eventually flagged down a waitress, who rudely told us to just seat ourselves. After sitting down, we waited another 20 minutes and still no one came to take our order. We left again without eating. The front of house operation here is a complete mess. It feels like there is no system at all, no coordination, no accountability, and no awareness of guests. At one point, I overheard staff saying things like "let's just say this one has no milk in it" and "let's just say this one is sunny side up," which made it clear they did not even know where dishes were supposed to go and were just guessing. Even more telling, barely anyone in the restaurant was actually eating, and most people looked as confused and frustrated as we were. Honestly, the owner and staff should be embarrassed by how poorly this place is being run. I have never seen such a complete breakdown in service, especially two days in a row. Huge disappointment.

The service, on the other hand, was as adequate but flavored with a heavy dose of grumpy, broken wait staff. More than one hostess/waitress seemed almost resentful that we were there. Not my idea of a special night out. Just because you can afford to take your sweetheart out to a nice dinner doesn't mean you're a jerk and deserve to be scowled at. This can happen when you try and do really good food in a rural area and the workforce just isn't up to the challenge. Too bad. Sometimes you can train people to be gracious and inviting and to care about their jobs but sometimes people are just too broken and there's nobody else to choose from.

The following day, we had the Wedge Salad and calamari along with a bowl of chowder. The salad was crisp and the combination of ingredients was perfect with all the textures and flavors of the bacon, cherry tomatoes, shoe string onion rings, and blue cheese dressing...the best wedge salad I've ever had! I loved the lightness of the calamari batter as well! This is a nicely decorated and clean restaurant. It was romantic with the view of the bay. I felt the customer service was a little off, but eventually our servers were nicer as both lunches went on. There was a Hispanic man that was very friendly and kept our water filled. It comes with three dips and a nice sharing size for the table. The setting lovely and I'm really glad I checked this spot off my list.

We can tell how much they love and care for their business. This gesture means everything to us and I've updated my review to reflect that. We love Fern Bar Had a nice time, save for the verbal confrontation by our waitress. I paid for our dinner and left for the bathroom, when the waitress came back to my partner sitting alone and asked her what she did wrong. My partner was uncomfortable and didn't understand, so she asked her to clarify, which the waitress said we didn't tip her enough so she assumes we didn't like her. My partner didn't know what to say, and promptly asked me to leave when I came back. She was so upset about it. Our waitress was fine, but service was terribly slow, and she took forever to ask us for drinks and did not check on us. I didn't even mind honestly. It's not really her fault the back of house was busy. But to confront my partner alone at the table when I went to bathroom? How awful.

We ordered the Coastal Tacos (rock cod) and Fried Chicken Sandwich. At first we were concerned that it might not be enough for us, but when the food came, we realized our worries were for naught. Both the tacos and the sandwich were quite large and also quite messy, but if a taco or fried chicken sandwich is not a little messy, it's probably not very good! The decor retains the flavor of the building's roots. I seem to recall reading that it was a stage coach stop (or railroad stop?) during an earlier life, which is completely believable since it was built in 1864. Rustic, but with some modern touches. We plan to stay at the Valley Ford Hotel again, and when we do, we'll wander down the stairs to Rocker's Roadhouse for dinner. I hope there's oyster Po' Boys on the menu by then!

Somewhere along the line yelp reviews for Rocker Oysterfeller in Valley Ford became yelp reviews for Rocker's Roadhouse prompting this update. Ages ago I happily awarded 5-stars to Rocker Oysterfeller but when I came to Rocker's Roadhouse for lunch on a recent Monday afternoon things were decidedly not 5-star. The bar area that one enters first had no patrons despite a table of dirty dishes remaining. When we announced we'd like to stay for lunch we were asked to wait while a table in the dining room was cleared. That's exactly what was cleared: one table in the dining room. There were two other tables of customers in the dining room and now a single clean table. Every other customer-free table in that room was stacked with dirty dishes left by previous customers. This wasn't just unappetizing. It was disgusting and we opted not to stay for lunch. I'm hoping this was some sort of aberrant situation as opposed to standard operating procedure. C'mon Rocker's Roadhouse, get your act together.

On a whim, we stopped by after dinner to enjoy a glass of wine and the sunset. Best decision ever. The place was packed. Always a good sign. We were greeted immediately by Anton and his beautiful smile. He said we were welcome to sit anywhere. However, we had our sights set on one of the outside firepits. Anton found us the perfect firepit facing the bay and the setting sun. (BTW... the interior of the Lounge is jaw dropping elegant and rustic with amazing architectural designs.) Within minutes he was back with drink and dessert menus. I think he reads minds because that was exactly what we wanted. Again... such lovely customer service. Anton just knows how to make you feel special. Oh those desserts!!! I wanted one of each... but settled on the decadent sounding carrot cake. Cream cheese, toasted pineapple and candied pecans. And while we are choosing... please throw in the trio of yummy scoops of gelato!:) For the record, these eye-pleasing, delicious sweets were top shelf for sure. Every bite was thoroughly enjoyed. No leftovers:). For such an upscale venue, prices for the desserts and excellent cafè latte were surprisingly reasonable! I can hardly wait to return to Drakes for breakfast, brunch or dinner. Or all three! Who can resist outstanding food, incredible views and 5-star Yelp service! Thank you, Anton, for providing customer service definitely worthy of this very high end Restaurant.

The cocktail options were amazing and I ended up with a Coconut Spicy Thai drink with rum that was very unique and fun. It was a great drink that warmed me up and was fun out by the ocean. There was a musician playing music that added to the ambiance of the restaurant as well! The server who was running drinks was kind and checked in a couple of times to ensure we were happy. She also got us sat early for our reservation and had our drinks at the table for us! It had beautiful views of the ocean and sunset as well.
