Day one, removed whole roof, had a dumpster to haul away the debris. Assessed what was under & found a section with dry rot. Covered roof with a big tarp . Next day, repaired dry rot, replaced all plywood on roof , day three installed all new vents atop roof & replaced all gutters & downspouts installed tarpaper & new roof shingles!! All in all 2-1/2 days Astro Roofing completed task & cleaned up all around the worksite I didn't need to ask for any other bids bc I saw them @ work in another city at another time & was impressed with their performance & when Solomon gave me their pricing I agreed as they were quite reasonable! I did and the company told me I had to contact Lowe's because they were subcontractors. I contacted Lowe's and they said I had to contact the company that actually did the work. I contacted Manada again and I was told to pay $500 for them to come out and see THEIR own work and that fee would be applied to any work they do! Unbelievable, my father became ill and couldn't deal with this and I did contact the Better Business Bureau and they stated that too many years had passed- it was 3 years. How long is a roof supposed to last?? Regardless, poor craftsmanship and material reflects the job quality of Manada Roofing. I just today, completed the repairs for this winter. This is a shameless unethical company that DOES NOT STAND BEHIND THEIR WORK.

*BE WARNED--You will HAVE TO BE hands on for the job to be completed*…read more I wanted to take the time to do a complete review of my experience with Bay Area Roofing Experts back in October 2025.I made the mistake to go with this company after reading their 6 reviews on Yelp. In which I realized later, were roof repairs and not new roof installations. Here is my unpleasant experience. The Good, The BAD and the downright UGLY! For reference, I have attached pictures of my roof that Bay Area Roofing Experts have posted on their Yelp account. THE GOOD 1) Their price was competitive with the other companies that I was quoted. 2) Referencing the pictures of my roof--Miguel, their foreman, and laborer who did the installation from start to finish did solid craftsmanship of my composite shingle roof. 3) Tim Toon took the time to assist me in making a final decision on the shingles I chose, by meeting me at the roofing supply house. 4) When I reached out through Yelp for quotes, Bay Area Roofing Experts contacted me almost immediately. 5) In the beginning, I did feel Tim was very attentive and was patient with my process in working out the details of my roofing project. THE BAD 1) Their gutter subcontractor did a poor job with the installation of my gutters and downspouts. On the gutter system there were several spots where he missed the rafters, by not screwing the gutters into the rafters. In other cases the screw was sticking out of the side of the rafter. I made the point to bring this to the subcontractors attention, which fell in deaf ears. I had to go up myself and correct those mistakes. 2) Several of the downspouts were nowhere near plumbed. 3) Some of the downspouts were spray painted, unevenly. Making the final piece look unprofessional. In addition, pay attention to the pictures mentioned above: the roof air vent was sprayed painted extremely sloppy, to the point that there were shingle granules adhered to the vent by the spray paint. 4) Complete disregard for my time! Tim would state he would be here in 20 minutes, and it was more like an hour later. Miguel and his assistant would either show up 15 minutes before a set time or 15 minutes after. Zero consistency on a timely arrival. The worst part was that I was not made aware of these time changes. 5) I had to request a Paid-In-Full Invoice after sending my final payment. 6) There were miscellaneous wood repairs that Tim had verbally mentioned but completely forgot to include on the final paid in full invoice. After making my final payment, Tim's mistake cost me an additional $900. Till this day I am still awaiting the requested Paid-In-Full invoice for these additional $900. 7) Upon installation of the gutter screen system, there were visible dirty/greasy fingerprints left all over the face of the gutters. I had to take it upon myself to clean that up, because there was a disregard for a clean installation.

He is an exceptional project manager and helped walk through my questions. He's knowledgeable in describing Paragon's warranty, materials and other considerations needed for a project. Not only that but he is understanding of the needs of his customers. I was given the opportunity to visit a project that was in progress and looked over the work his team had done following repair work of damaged areas, installing underlayment and new shingles. You can be sure to get enough information about what's needed to get a reroofing project completed from start to finish.

One of the better companies I've worked with on my 30 years here in the Richmond Annex. I needed a reroof on my Richmond Annex house. I found three roofing references from contractors I had worked with in the past. I also had two additional companies I found on Yelp come out (Above and Beyond was one of them), for a total of 5 estimates. One estimate was from an unlicensed roofer, so no warranty but probably the cheapest. The rest were all established brick and mortar companies, including Above and Beyond Roofing (Felix Howard). Above and Beyond came out, walked the roof, explained in detail the processes and made sure I understood the issues that might arise with my house. He also was the only one that provided extensive documentation on the house using the GAF QuickMeasure system, a thorough written estimate with options and extensive documentation on the products and process. The other companies were fine, just not as comprehensive, and the last guy was kind of a shot in the dark. One of my contractors said it best, "you might get lucky or you might end up with more leaks than you started." Above and Beyond were also the most price competitive, nearly matching the unlicensed contractor's bid and Felix includes GAF's Silver Pledge warranty, has workman's comp on all his crew and a easy to navigate documentation process which includes permitting, contracts, invoicing and payments. Felix was even able to reduce the estimate when plywood prices went down. They are a local company with a physical presence and I love supporting these types of operations. So we went ahead and signed the contract. They were great and easy to work with. My wife had a particular color request for the shingles and venting, Felix accomodated it. The crew was blazing fast, 2 hours to remove the roof and they quickly repaired sections that exposed dryrot or had poor quality support. By the second day they had started shingling. Rain was forecasted on the night of the third day and they were able to put more time and effort to finish up before it came. Inspector came yesterday and finalized the permit. Each day they cleaned up the massive amount of debris generated by the work, they were responsive to and considerate of my neighbors, and they were extremely professional in managing resources, trucks, dumpsters, etc. Roofing is a rough, loud, invasive job and they managed it and our interactions extremely well. Great experience and if I live long enough I'll hire them again...it is a 50 year warranty though...

Felix called right away and arrived on time as promised. The team came out specifically for the emergency leak and did a very thorough inspection of the roof. They even sent four detailed videos showing the condition of the roof and explaining exactly what was going on, which we really appreciated. Since it was still raining, they tarped the damaged section to prevent further issues until repairs can be completed. As a bonus, they also cleared the gutters, which helped with drainage. Professional, responsive, and transparent. Highly recommend them if you need fast help with a roof leak.
