We had the whole roof replaced a year ago by NextGen. During the big pouring rain storm, we found out one of the gutters was leaking from overflow. We called and texted numerous times but no response from Adrian. It is so frustrating trying to get a hold of Adrian. It is supposed to have a ten years warranty on the roof and gutters. They just finished our roof! Great work. Cleaned up after themselves very well. The materials they used are good. We have one problematic place where the main roof comes on to the porch roof. They were very careful with that and gave it some extra attention. They also worked well with my carpenter as we had the siding on a gable end replaced and some bad planks on the porch roof simultaneously. I previously signed a contract with another roofing company (who were great up to that point), but then would not schedule me in after numerous emails, calls and texts. It felt like I was going in circles with this other company until I got desperate and started my roofing search again. I'm so glad I found Nextgen and Adrian! Adding as a warning for others. We were really excited about using Next Gen Roofing for a roofing replacement. Adrian was super kind and prompt and responsive initially. He told us there was a last minute cancellation so was hoping to get started on our roof that same week. Before signing the contract and providing the deposit I looked up his license on California's license lookup website and found that it was under suspension. "License is under suspension for failure to comply with Workers Comp. A workers´ compensation certificate or exemption statement may have been received by the Board but not yet processed." As this note wouldn't actually do anything to protect us in the occasion that something did happen, we declined the offer and asked to be scheduled at a later date so he could provide us proof of his workers comp insurance. He agreed. From then on, he completely stopped responding to messages and ignored all texts and calls. We have not heard from him since. His pricing was competitive and In addition, they were able to preserve and restore the original look and feel of our house by moving gutters off of architectural elements and redirecting water to drain away from our foundation more efficiently. I love to support small business, so I really wanted to feel good about recommending Adrian Garcia and NextGen Roofing, but alas I can not. My initial experience was good, Adrian was knowledgeable and easy to talk to and filled me with a sense of confidence and relief. In March in the big wind storm a large tree fell and punctured our roof. When he came for the estimate he promised his crew would place a tarp over the hole to protect the house until his crew would come out to fix it, they did not sighting that I took 2 days to decide to hire and didn't want to come out in the rain (it hadn't started up again yet!); he also said NextGen would help remove the tree branches/logs on the roof (they did that), repair the roof and gutters/ screens and take away all debris upon completion of the repair. He noted some damage to our gutters on the opposite side of the roof. As I said at first it was a good experience they efficiently arrived on time and fixed the roof in less than a half day! This is where the good feelings end, they only hauled away construction debris and left the branches/logs blocking walkways and the garbage area at side of the house, which is definitely a safety issue. I also noticed that the gutter screens were not replaced on the portion of the roof I can see, so I called and asked him to come check the work and fix the gutter screens and remove the tree debris, he did come and move the debris out of the way but did not haul away and replaced broken screens on the gutter I can see... Last month I was finally able to get an arborist out to remove the second tree, and have tried him a few times by phone and even sent an email about the crushed gutter and asking them to come out as promised. It has been some weeks since I last attempted communication and have yet to hear back! So if you need a fast repair, call them, however if you want excellent service look further. read more

After sifting through 5 roofing estimates we chose NextGen Roofing and we are so glad we did. 1. Their estimate was right in the middle of the highs and lows we received. 2. Their estimate was clear and easy to understand (its amazing how that was not true for all of the estimates) 3. Adrian was responsive throughout the estimate process. 4. Adrian was straightforward and clear about what additional costs for rot etc could potentially run. 5. They offer a ten year warranty on their work. (the lower and mid ranged priced estimates we got tended to come with 5 year or no warranty) Once we selected NextGen everything went super smooth from there. The crew (which included his dad) was great. Cleaned up every day. Answered all our questions. Worked with me to keep the rafter tails on our craftsman bungalow intact and looking aesthetically balanced as they repaired some of them. We upgraded to Solaris shingles and the cost was minimal. Additional labor costs for rot repairs ended up exactly in the ballpark that Adrian had estimated. No awful sticker shock when the work was finished. Everything had been communicated clearly and beforehand. They supplied photos and videos of the work as it progressed. And they did a great job on final clean up - particularly in the attic. Once the work was done we notice we were getting some condensation dripping each morning off one corner of the roof onto our deck. Adrian was immediately responsive, he came out and addressed the issue quickly and efficiently. All around they are a great company to work with. I cannot praise Mario and Son (aka Mario and Adrian) highly enough! They are an amazing father & son duo that have an incredible hard working crew. I had three layers on my (very old) roof, they came in on a Monday and by Friday they had scrapped all three layers, replaced all the boards with dry rot, added new plywood, all new shingles and gutter. We got to choose the shingle and gutter colors too! They worked hard, fast and cleaned up daily so our dogs could still use the backyard. I have never met such a hard working, professional company. I got bids from over 20 different companies and Mario and Son came in with the best bid. They are kind, fast, professional and I cannot compliment them enough! My roof looks amazing, my yard is safe for my dogs (no nails, shrapnel or other trash.) They even cleaned up the few pieces of roofing that fell into my neighbors side yard. My super protective dogs didn't bark at them, which shows that they only employ the best of the best. They did a great job on my flat roof! Mario and Adrian were very easy to talk to and they gave me a quote that was much more affordable then four other quotes I received from other roofers on yelp. They were able to start work within two weeks of the quote which was a huge bonus to me and my wife considering most roofers were telling me I had to wait two months to start work. When they got rid of the old roof, they showed me what the original wood looked like including broken beams and old wood planks. They suggested using plywood to go on top of the old wood which reenforced the roof. I asked if they could create a slope on a small part of the roof which was an addition and they had no problem with it. They're workers were fast and effective, and I 'd definitely recommend them to anyone who asks. read more

In short: Adrian is a real professional as well as a pleasure to deal with, their work is great and their prices are competitive. With the new rains my wife and I found we had a leak in our roof. It was so bad it caused some of the sheet rock in our kitchen to fall. I called a lot of roofers. Maybe 1/2 got back to me and maybe a 1/4 of them actually showed up for the estimate appointment. Adrian from Mario & Sons came out the day after we spoke on the phone, he was on time and he stayed until every question I had was answered. Once we decided to go with him, he was able/willing to fit us in just a few days later as he saw that we had to set out a collection of bowls and buckets in our kitchen every time it rained. They got the work done in one day (we only needed 1/2 a roof) and when they left everything was cleaned up. But what I think really sets them apart is that the next time it rained we noticed a leak. Adrian was back out the next day. It turned out that the issue wasn't the roof but the skylight, which is old and Adrian had warned us about (They had nothing to do with the installation of the skylight). But even though it wasn't his fault, he was still willing to get up there and fix the skylight well enough to stop the leak. As a new homeowner I have already had some really bad experiences with contractors of various types, but I could not be happier with my experience with Mario & Sons. OK Adrian is a very nice person I agree, nice guy, his dad .....no comment. I have a big Victorian in Alameda, I received bids high and low and Mario & Sons was right in the middle where I tend to go, reviews were good so I proceeded. The job started out well, how ever, they diverted and went on to another job and basically stood me up, seriously big problem ! . Nothing to do with money, I paid them on time for their work in progress payments . And then it started to rain. The workers had been using the flat top roof over my kitchen as a staging area because it was flat, they dumped the heavy roofing material rolls and destroyed the integrity of the roof over my kitchen. We had a down poor and I had water pouring in to my kitchen, it was a nightmare. Chasing the company down for the basics that were supposed to be resolved by the roofer in the course of the job is tiresome and frustrating for a homeowner, you should not have to do this !! I was not a happy camper. We found Mario and Son thru a referral from a friend. Mario's son Adrian showed up exactly on time for the estimate. I knew that was a good sign. He was prepared to get up on our roof (30' off the ground) and walked us thru all aspects of the job. We had already gotten two other estimates (neither as thorough). He sent us an e-mail with everything clearly spelled out. The only hesitancy we had was that he only had one review on YELP and it was from a week earlier! Based on my friends recommendation and that one review we had them do the work. Mario showed up with a great crew and was present the whole time. We thought the work would take at least a week (we had 4 layers of roofing on the house already, which had to be removed). After two dump truck loads and ONE long day they had removed the old roof. By the end of the second day they had added new wood sheathing and completed some dry-rot repairs that were necessary and started shingling. The next day they were done! They cleaned up their mess as well as some mess that was already there and told me someone would be there a day later to do the gutters. I came home the afternoon a day later and we had a beautiful set of gutters and drain pipes installed perfectly. I am a carpenter and used to doing change orders and ad-ons in almost every job. They did all the dry rot work (which was not part of the original estimate) using materials that were even better than the original materials used when the house was built (1907). The price they gave us for doing this work was EXTREMELY reasonable and there was no long delay waiting for another contractor to come in and do the work. If you are thinking of getting a new roof for the possible El Nino this year, you need to give Adrian or Mario a call. read more
