Early part of the year Solomon & brother Darius are the heart of Astro Roofing company! I asked them to come give me an estimate @ my duplex rental in Oakland, came out same day/early evening with tall ladders & did some measurements & the following day gave me an estimate & the following week had a crew of st least 10!!! Day one, removed whole roof, had a dumpster to haul away the debris. Assessed what was under & found a section with dry rot. Covered roof with a big tarp . Next day, repaired dry rot, replaced all plywood on roof , day three installed all new vents atop roof & replaced all gutters & downspouts installed tarpaper & new roof shingles!! All in all 2-1/2 days Astro Roofing completed task & cleaned up all around the worksite I didn't need to ask for any other bids bc I saw them @ work in another city at another time & was impressed with their performance & when Solomon gave me their pricing I agreed as they were quite reasonable! I'd like to recommend this roofing company that replaced our roof six years ago. I chose them because they had what I thought was the best estimate and the owners (Salomon & Dario) of the company were hands on They worked on the roof with their team during the entire process. They were fast, professional, and great communicators. There were no surprises. Recently they came by to do a minor repair and touch up the roof with elastomeric around the downspouts. I was reminded why I used them in the first place. It's a real pleasure working with them. I hope to never do a roof again but if I do I won't get 4 estimates like I did last time. I requested a quote for flat roof replacement after discovering a leak and someone came out on the same day! For our job, I got 3 quotes. The first one was from a bigger company with lots of reviews and the other one was a smaller company like Astro. The smaller company basically gave me the same quote as Astro. Scammers! These guys told me there were 2 options for fixing a small roof leak - an expensive permanent fix or a temporary fix for a bit cheaper. I was told that the temporary fix would definitely get me through this season but not the next and the permanent fix would last until I get a new roof. I was considering getting a new roof, which they knew about, and provided a quote for, so I paid for the temporary fix only. The very next day it rains and it's clear the "fix" didn't work. I ask them to return and actually fix the leak this time so they come back and haphazardly throw some more tar on the roof. It doesn't rain for another 2 weeks but the moment it starts raining, the leak shows up again. This time when I ask them to come back, I'm told I need to sign a contract with them to replace the entire roof and that there are no refunds for the faux leak repair. CROOKS! Don't waste your money. Pay someone who knows what they're doing. Not this inexperienced father and son duo who will cheat you out of your money. Edit to address business response: I am thoroughly disappointed that you claim to state facts in your response. I was told specifically that the temporary fix would "100% resolve the leak". I was told the cause of leak was evident and the temporary fix would prevent leakage for the rest of this rainy season. I was given two options for repair - neither of which involved a full roof replacement. I was told the more expensive "repair" would last until I decided to replace my roof. I chose the less expensive option since I did intend on replacing the roof at some point. When your claims about the repair turned out to be false, you came a second time and explained why the temporary fix was inadequate. You then explained how the remediation performed that day would "absolutely fix the problem". This has nothing to do with the structural integrity of my roof or its age. There was no indication that the roof needed to be replaced immediately. The home water heater was recently updated and replaced. The area around its exhaust vent was likely damaged during replacement causing the leak immediately above the water heater. If you provided facts at the time of repair I would not be upset about your work and tactics. I was told the leak would be stopped with your repair. Period. It was not. I guess you get what you pay for. What made this worse was that you then tried to make me sign a contract for a FULL roof replacement locking me into your low quality services. Why on earth would I allow you to do anymore work on my roof when you lied to my face about the leak and your workman quality is clearly subpar? You also offer no kind of guarantee on your work so the risk is too high. read more

We had Astro Roofing come out to look at our roof. We have one spot that is leaking into our attic. We had a home inspector come out who identified the issue and recommended having the roof repaired in that area. Astro Roofing was on time and came out same day. Upon inspection, they quoted us $1400 for the repair. When we wanted to move forward, they replied that actually the entire roof needed to be replaced, which was confusing considering they had already quoted us for repair. They also inspected one small part of a large roof. Besides, the inspector told us we still had 6-8 years left on our roof. Okay, so today we asked to get a contract to repair just the one spot and they came back with $2800 for the same work they originally quoted $1400. When we inquired why it was now double the price we did not get any reply. We had high hopes based on the reviews here, but it feels strongly as though they are playing us. read more

Astro is without a doubt, one of the best companies I've dealt with in more than 30 years as a homeowner. As a family owned business that obviously takes pride in doing excellent work: the owner, Salomon, and his brother Mario, were on top of every detail, from initially examining the roof, to providing a detailed and clear estimate, to tearing down the old roof, repairing and/or replacing defects in the old roof, adding new gutters and downspouts, touching up paint, and doing myriad things to ensure that the new roof is leak-proof and esthetically pleasing. Excellent experience. Fast, efficient and they cleaned up debris daily. We were expecting this would take week or so and the job was mostly done in a couple days. When we had an issue with a skylight sticking a few days after job completed Salomon came out the next day and fixed it. The bid was competitive. The only minor minus is that these guys are busy and it took 2-3 months from the time of the bid for them to fit our job in. Well done and it was a pleasure doing business with them. I chose Astro Roofing after looking at many different roofers. Salamon and team got exactly what I was looking for (insulated roof--you can look it up, very useful for a comfortable home with low energy costs), added/suggested things, and came in as one of the lower quotes for the entire project. The team was very respectful of our space, cleaned up most days, and worked very efficiently. The project took longer than expected for a variety of reasons, including delivery times, but they were flexible and figured out exactly how to best execute on it. I highly, highly recommend them--especially for more complicated/pricer projects. There are GCs you might turn to for some of those, but I think cutting out the middleman and using Astro is going to get great results for a lot less price. I wanted to share what an amazing experience I had with Astro Roofing. From the estimate to the construction and afterwards, Salomon and Dario were professional, prompt and tidy. I highly recommend getting multiple quotes but be assured Astro Roofing was very competitive. They outlined everything included in replacing the roof. There were two change orders (solar roof fans and gutter guards) that I'm very glad I purchased. Doing this during a roof replacement lowered the cost and made for a simple and quick installation. They made a recommendation on my chimney that was cracking. They could wrap the chimney but we thought it would be ugly. Instead they wrapped part way and then caulk the rest. We'll eventually have to get the chimney fixed. I very rarely say this but if I could give six stars, I would. read more

Salomon is an amazing and responsive roofer! I contacted him in the morning for a quick repair that required him to reposition and secure a composite roof tile that slid out of place. Many other roofers that I contacted didn't respond and the ones that did, only wanted a full roof replacement job. Another roofer told me they would charge a minimum $1,000.!!! How crazy was that? Amazing company. We got a new roof last year through Astro. They were responsive and extremely reliable. During the construction of the new roof, we woke up to light rain which was not in the forecast and called up Dario at like 4am. He and his crew came within 30 minutes to tarp up the roof. We've had several small issues come up since and Dario has always shown up immediately to address. Further, a tree fell on our roof during one of the major storms this year and created significant damage to the roof and interior. Astro Roofing uses gas-powered leaf blowers, which are illegal in our city. It's both lazy and dangerous to use a gas-powered leaf blower on top of a roof, within inches of windows and bedrooms where residents have to breathe the toxic fumes. It's also unnecessary; we have successfully replaced roofs for centuries without the aid of leaf blowers. We don't allow cigarette smoke within 25 feet of buildings; pollutants from a 2-stroke engine are worse. read more
