The crew took the time to execute all the step well. They paid attention to details. They went the extra miles to take my old TV antennae and dish off my roof and haul away. They found some preexisting issues once my Spanish tiles were moved. They took the time to do the repairs and not to over recommend things to be fixed. I appreciate that. All this happened during a recent heat wave. I appreciate their tenacity. The project manager, David Parentz, was very responsive and straightforward in handling my questions, concerns. He did the permit and the inspection (2 phases) went exceptionally smooth. I value his honesty and accommodating attitude. He gave me a quote last October and still honored it 9 months later. read more

Had a new roof installed and ultimately it is good but when we did not pass inspection due to the roof not being sealed correctly as well as a missing ash catcher Dave came back with an attitude saying that the inspector was wrong instead of humbled to make it right I told him before starting that there was no need to replace the spark arrestor that was blown off and when that part didn't pass inspection because it is required by code, which he should have known he came back later and replaced it but twisted it sideways at the last minute not knowing that I was watching which I took as disrespectful Ultimately the roof is fine but I didn't need the attitude read more

We had another roofing company tell us that we needed a complete roof replacement, which would have been a very expensive job. Before making a decision, we asked Equinox Roofing for a second opinion, and we're so glad we did. Ilia came out on time, thoroughly inspected our roof, and provided the inspection completely free of charge. Instead of trying to sell us a new roof, he honestly told us that our roof still has plenty of life left. He pointed out a few minor issues that needed attention and even explained how we could easily fix them ourselves. It's rare to find someone who is this honest, knowledgeable, and communicative. At no point did we feel pressured into unnecessary work. We really appreciated his professionalism and integrity. We are very thankful for Ilia's honest advice, and when the time eventually comes for a new roof or any roofing work, Equinox Roofing will be the first company we call. Highly recommend! read more

From the beginning I liked Equinox, Ilia the project forman, was knowable and listened to my questions and concerns. The project was done on schedule and my house was cleaned up every day before the guys left. Team was polite and friendly. Ilia went above and beyond his job. I mentioned a little debris fell into the house from the sky lights and he got my vacuum and cleaned the area. I would highly recommend using Equinox for your roofing needs! read more

Great experience with Equinox from start to finish. Eli was our contact and was responsive, transparent, and professional throughout. Not the cheapest, but definitely not the most expensive - fair pricing for genuinely high-quality work. The crew was professional, clean, and thorough everyday of the project. Equinox sent progress photos every day, communicated clearly about anything they found mid-job, and handled change orders transparently with unit prices that matched the original contract. No surprises, nothing hidden, no pressure. Work was done quickly and the finished product looks great. Highly recommend. read more

In the first meeting Eli used a satellite device to measure the roof and even determine the angles between the valleys without having to go up on the roof. I was very impressed. Equinox completed our reroofing project in 5 days, exactly as promised. Very clean work: They used plastic sheets to cover the ground around the entire house when they demolished the old roof on the first day. They cleaned the ground and the garage every day. They even used magnets to pick up all the nails from the ground. They also touched up all the spots that needed paint. Eli even asked a crew member to come back on the last day to scrub off the old paint and repaint a long beam. Special thanks to Eli for the extra care and attention to detail. read more

Getting two new commercial roofs was a big deal for my partnership and there are lots of details which concerned us. We went with Equinox and I am so happy we did-the price was excellent, the job was done really well, we had two commercial tenants which required specific scheduling and they were well accommodated for, and both roofs look great and, since its been a few months with rain, we know they are both sturdy. I could not be more satisfied and we have a couple of projects coming up in the next year and will definitely use them. We now have a roofer for any needs. My highest recommendations for Ben and Equinox! read more

We had a really good experience with Equinox. Our home is a ranch style house with a roof that was probably installed budget fashion before the house was sold in 2012. A recent leak in the roof prompted us to get it inspected and discover that it was basically finished. Equinox installed Owens Corning roofing material and replaced our old ventilation with a ridge vent system. Our project manager was Eli and he was very responsive throughout the whole process. He was upfront about the fact that we would likely need OSB over our 1956 redwood boards (and their gaps) and about what the cost for this would be. Throughout the install he kept us updated with a series of pictures from the roof about installation progress and things that were encountered (gaps and knot holes in the old boards). It was an expensive project, but in the end it was as quoted so at least we had no surprises. read more

I'm really grateful to have met Isaac, he was my point of contact. Out of all the quotes I received he was the most respectful and thorough in his explanations. Took time to explain to me the quality of my old roof and exactly what he would be providing layer by layer. I had many questions throughout the process, he helped me understand why certain decisions were made and reassure me along the way. Despite my many requests, I was always met with a reasonable answer. I've got a beautiful Shasta white roof with a ridge vent now, the temperature improvements were substantial and I'm glad to have chosen this company. If you're lucky enough to get Isaac, I'm certain you'd have an amazing experience! read more

We recently had our entire roof replaced by Equinox Roofing and had a really positive experience from start to finish. Dave was our project manager and he was great to work with. He explained the process clearly, answered all of our questions, and kept us updated throughout the project. The crew was always on time, very professional, and respectful of our property. They worked efficiently and what stood out to us was how clean they kept the area around the house during the project. At the end of each day they made sure everything was picked up, which we really appreciated. The project moved along smoothly and the roof replacement was completed within the timeframe we were given. The finished result looks great and we're very happy with the quality of the work. For a full roof replacement, the pricing felt fair for the quality and service we received. Overall, it was a solid experience and we're glad we chose Equinox Roofing for the project. Adding here pictures Dave were sending to us throughout the whole process. read more

My re-roofing project was executed professionally and efficiently by a skilled and talented crew led by Miguel that worked well together with great precision. Eli was the project coordinator and did a wonderful job explaining their process, the advantages of hiring Equinox, the benefits of our roofing selections and acting as my liaison with the crew. Not only did the crew demonstrate excellent workmanship in completing all project tasks faster than expected and rectifying issues created by my previous roof, they went the extra mile in delivering an unexpected benefit that confirmed to me that this company is truly focused on exceeding customer expectations. read more

Our home's original tar and gravel roof needed to be replaced, and we reached out to Equinox because of their reviews and because our neighbor recommended them. Avi, our assigned project manager, was our point person throughout the whole process and was incredibly helpful and patient. We received quotes from Avi for a torch down roof (which looked similar to the TAG roof) and asphalt shingles. While the shingles came with a higher quote, it actually wasn't too much more than the torch down quote. The work was set to start roughly 3 weeks after we received the contract, and my wife and I were back & forth on the roofing materials the entire time. Avi was super patient with us throughout that timeframe, and answered any and all questions that we had regarding the work involved for both options. We ultimately landed on asphalt shingles for roughly 90% of our roof and torch down for a flat section a day before their team was set to start. Fortunately for us, Equinox was super flexible in letting us decide on materials right until the last minute. The work actually started about 10 days earlier than their estimated start date, and I think they finished everything in about half the estimated time! On the first day, they fully removed our old roofing material and hauled that away, applied the underlayment, and started some shingles. On day two, they finished roughly 50% of the work and installed gutters (from their on-site seamless gutter machine) and downspouts. They had to wait for the city inspector to approve their in-progress work was done correctly, but once that happened a few days later, the team completely finished the job by the end of the day. Our new roof looks incredible, and we're so glad we went with Equinox for the job! Highly recommend them if you're in need of a new roof. read more

We had to replace our entire roof on a Midcentury Modern House - which can be daunting as it needs to be done right due to potential drainage issues, ponding of water and other concerns that come with torch-down flat roofs of the era. (As well as we wanting to adhere to the true aesthetic style of clean lines and edge profiles) We received 5 quotes and chose Equinox Roofing and we are glad we did. They were not necessarily the cheapest, but the price was competitive, they had a well outlined proposal, great reviews, and there were not any big surprises throughout the process that were not in line with what was outlined in the proposal. Ben, Abel (as the PM) and the entire crew were professional, responsive and worked rapidly to replace the roof in-between rainstorms that surprisingly popped up unannounced on the forecast. They resculpted previously problematic drainage areas through thoughtful insulation techniques that led to improved drainage flow and removed ponding issues that were there with the previous old roof. They also did a great job cleaning up at the end of each day. My wife and I are in the design industry, so we can be overly picky and there were a few tweaks we asked them to do throughout the process - which they did without any hesitation. You can tell they care about their craftmanship. Highly recommend Ben and the Equinox Roofing team. read more

We worked with Equinox and Isaac to replace our roof in Lafayette which was easily 40 or more years old. They did an excellent job, with super high attention to detail and quality. The project ended up having a small change order, but I believe this was within a reasonable range given the age of the roof. The project communications were smooth and I was able to oversee the project 100% remotely on behalf of my mother who owns the home. Good experience overall and I'd recommend. read more

We needed one large section of roofing (asphalt shingles) replaced. We had a fantastic experience in Jan 2025 working with Equinox. Issac was the project manager. I interviewed 4 roofing companies and honestly felt like we had 2-3 great options, but Issac really set himself apart by being the most proactive. He quickly brought out samples and worked with us on the contract. It was a very rainy time of year, but on the first dry stretch, he had a team out immediately to get the work done! Very glad we went with Equinox and I can highly recommend this company. read more

Equinox did a great job on resetting my Spanish clay tile roof. They took care of the city permit and completed the job within promised time. The waterproof underlayer was 45 years old and didn't do its job. so I had to replace with the new peel and stick. Worker came on time every morning at 8 am and they protected area below the roof. Took them 4 full days of working. Last day worker did a thorough clean up. Dave the project manager did a good job updating the progress daily by drone shots. Highly recommend Equinox if you want to redo your roof. read more

The Equinox team amazing to work with from the sales process thru final inspection. We went thru the proposal process with several other roofing companies but knew from the first conversation that Equinox and Eli to manage the project was the right for us. We have a very complicated roof which required real workmanship and attention to detail. The installers cleaned up every day and were extremely careful working around all our plants and trees and grapevines. We also installed Solar at the same time and they coordinated the installation timing with the roof project. The final result exceeded our expectations and we highly recommend Equinox. read more

TL;DR - I'm glad I trusted Equinox rather than others. If you're getting bids for a large roof job, put them at the top of your call list. Longer: Unlike other home improvement vendors, you're only going to do a roof replacement every decade or longer (if you're fortunate). It's not like a stuck drain, or an AC outlet that trips a breaker. So getting estimates and weighing the options carefully is absolutely significant. I got three bids from vendors that Thumbtack recommended - Equinox was one of them. On Thumbtack, each had very high ratings. But on Yelp (and elsewhere) it was revealed that the other two had, shall we say, some questionable experiences reported. Equinox, on the other hand, had consistently exemplary ratings and detailed stories in most reviews to back it up. Although Equinox wasn't the least expensive quote, you want to trust you're going to be told the truth, the vendor is going to respond to questions/problems/requests, and most importantly (for a roofer) that there is a good chance they will be in business 10 years later to back up your warranty. There's no point having a 10 year roof warranty if the company has gone belly up. In the end, I selected Equinox. And I was not disappointed. My project manager, Doron, thoroughly explained every step and made sure I was fully informed at every step of the way. Job was done VERY quickly, and 100% professionally throughout. A collection of progress photos was sent to me at the conclusion of each day's work. Job is beautifully done, and all details handled perfectly. In my experience, they earn every one of their five stars. read more

We had a great experience working with Michael (project manager) from Equinox Roofing. He came out to our home for a free estimate and spent time walking us through the entire reroofing process without any pressure. After getting several quotes from other well-known roofing companies in the Bay Area, we chose Equinox because of their competitive pricing and the quality of work included. They reroofed our home using Owens Corning Duration Cool Plus shingles, and we really appreciated that Equinox does not subcontract - their own crew handled the entire job. They completed a full reroof, including plywood replacement, new shingles, and attic insulation, and everything was done professionally and efficiently. Communication was great throughout the process. Highly recommend Michael and Equinox Roofing for anyone looking for honest pricing, quality materials, and excellent customer service. read more

EDIT: I am using a different Yelp account with different name so the business doesn't threaten me for the bad review. But even until now, what I have below is true. They don't take responsibility after they received their payments. They are absolutely the worst. They entice you with competitive or cheaper price, but you might as well pay something more so you can work with a team that actually takes responsibility. I did business with them seeing the ~5.0 stars review. If you are seeing this review, do not do business with them. The quality of the roof is OK. However, the roofers smoke while working, and damages your property around the house and will not fix it until you point it out (or fix it but with the cheapest possible way). They don't keep their promises. They charge you because they did not "understand" you and were not written in the contract using specific languages. Their warranty is worth nothing. If you report issues after paying them, they never call you back. read more

Doron, the Marin-based manager of this overall business, was excellent. We recently had our roof replaced by Equinox, and I want to give a special shoutout to Michael, the project manager. Working with Michael was hands down the best experience I've ever had with a contractor. He was incredibly responsive--always replying to my texts almost instantly--and consistently honest and reliable throughout the entire process. While Equinox's quote wasn't the lowest, it was very competitive. What truly set them apart was Michael's approachability and professionalism, which played a big role in our decision to go with Equinox. The project itself was impressively fast and smooth. The old roof was removed on day one, the new roof was completed by the end of day two, and the gutters were installed on day three. The speed and efficiency were outstanding! Even after the project was completed, Michael remained attentive. We had a minor issue with the gutter, and he promptly arranged for someone to come back and fix it without hesitation. That level of accountability is rare and much appreciated. I wholeheartedly recommend Equinox 100%, and Michael 1000%! --- A quick lesson learned from my experience: If you have any unpermitted home improvements, make sure they're not visible during inspections. I wasn't aware of this, and during the roof inspection, the city inspector discovered some unpermitted work. Now we're in the process of obtaining permits and scheduling additional inspections. Hopefully, everything goes smoothly from here! read more

Equinox Roofing did an excellent job on replacing the shingles on my roof in May 2025. The entire experience was professional and met all of my expectations. Special shout out to Eli the Project Manager and Juan the onsite manager. From the initial conversation with Eli I knew Equinox was the type of company that values quality workmanship and doesn't overprice there quotes. Equinox was not the lowest bid of the 5 companies I interviewed and they won't be when you do your research. There is a GOOD REASON to never take the lowest bid - You'll get what you pay for. I would highly recommend Equinox Roofing - they did an incredible job with my recent roof replacement project. Our roof replacement project was very complex, not only was the roof extremely steep, it was also an old roof with multiple layers of shingles and no plywood layer. Many roofing companies took one look and said the roof was too steep for them to handle, and other companies spent a few minutes looking at the roof and gave me a quote without much explanation. But when Eli Epstein (the Equinox Project Manager) came over, he spent over a hour at my house evaluating the roof, looking in my attic, and walking me through all the details of the job and the quote. Equinox wasn't the cheapest quote, but their price was very competitive, and offered the best value. Eli especially was extremely professional and communicative throughout the process, and was flexible in scheduling the roof replacement while we were traveling on vacation so the entire job was completed by the time we returned! Eli kept us updated with daily texts and pictures throughout the process, and the area around the house was left extremely clean as well, besides the new roof you couldn't even tell that the Equinox team had been there. There was one very minor issue after the job was done, which Eli took care of promptly as well. If you need a roof replacement done, you can't go wrong by working with Eli and the rest of the Equinox team! read more

I took bids from a few contractors for my house roof and the flat roof of a small shop, and Equinox came in right in the middle. (I usually don't pick the cheapest one. The lowest bid was low enough to raise a red flag for me.). Many positive Yelp reviews for Equinox helped in my decision. Doron, my project manager, fully explained what work would be done to code specifications and saw the whole thing through. He was quite knowledgeable and showed up every day to check on the progress. He handled all the paperwork for The City and was here for all the inspections (Passed each one!). It took 3-1/2 days to install new composition 3-tab and new vents on my house, new flashing and a new flat roof on a small shop building after removing 2+ old roofs, replacing some old wood and new gutters and downspouts for both. The workers worked as long as there was light, and they cleaned the project up every day. I'm glad I chose Equinox Roofing and am totally satisfied with their work.
