Well let me start by saying the food was pretty good. I have no qualm with the mac n cheese and greens they were bomb. Catfish wasn't horrible but it tasted like it hadn't been cleaned properly. And the portions were horrible $17 for honestly a $10 plate. Never heard of a place that gives you one piece of fish for a dinner. It was like half my food was missing. Let me tell you, I'm from the south and I am not critical of other comfort food because it's hard to replicate. Ordered take out with my fiancé and was curious and somewhat excited to support our people. I ordered the southern fried chicken with greens and Mac and cheese. With that being said, the greens were unseasoned and mushy like out of a can. The Mac and cheese was just noodles and cheese sauce. It lacked that particular taste for me. The chicken was well cooked perfectly but had more of a salty taste to em'. My fiancé ordered the crab cake sandwich with fries and she enjoyed the sandwich but the fries were soggy and she said thank God she didn't order the Mac and cheese because it would have messed up the experience with the crab cake! First time ordering here. I had Mac and cheese, buffalo wings, sweet potato fries and fried wings. Everything was tasty. I wish the fried wings were so flaky but they were seasoned really well. This is a nice place, it just sucks that it's located in the busy, no parking part of downtown Baltimore! This space has the potential to be amazing, but it lacks a designated parking area. However, people love it here. Definitely plan to catch an Uber or Lyft if you come. Anyway. The atmosphere is nice and the food looked delicious and I heard from my sister that it is pretty tasty. Stopped in to get a bite while serving Jury Duty. I like that they offer a discount for Jurors (bring your Juror badge). And from what I can tell, they have an amazing set up for live entertainment (Singing, Spoken word, etc). My order was ok: the turkey burger was made very well. The Sweet Potato fries didn't meet my expectation. They weren't fresh and, in my opinion, sprinkling sugar on them doesn't make them good. My chief issue was it didn't seem organized in how they serve their customers. One customer took issue in his order being ready yet he waited more than needed before being told his order was ready. Another customer was upset to the point where they his food was free. However, I want to give them another chance. I want to go back try their Chicken & Waffles. I'd also like to visit when they have their Live Entertainment nights. I just hope when I return, they are more organized in regards to serving their customers because it's IMPORTANT to me to patronize Black Owned Businesses. read more

I would give it less if I could. Thought we would try this new place. We had to wait over an hour for an order we placed over the phone for carry-out. After waiting we bring it back to the office (5 minute walk.) Everything was cold, the order was not only wrong we were missing items. I called and spoke to a manager and they gave us a credit. So we went back today. Again called it in told the manager we had the credit (which they lost and it was just last week) We had the receipt and they had no problem with giving us the credit. Knowing we already had issues you would think they would have made sure it was perfect. I think the food was worse this time. They were missing an order of fries so we had to wait while they fried one order. Everything else got cold while we waited. Will not give they a third try. read more

I have never a left a review before but this needs to be addressed. I placed a door dash order and my food was inedible. I've never experienced this before. Food was very flavorful! I got the seafood platter and it was AMAZING!!!! Catfish fritters where seasoned to perfection and came with an awesome signature sauce, crab balls where perfect, and the shrimp was great! I asked for regular fries but I received the sweet potato fries. Let me tell you lol that was the most delicious mistake of an order I've ever had. I'll be getting there sweet potato fries from this point on! Corn bread was perfect! Get it to go!! Hubby and I stopped in for dinner on a Friday night. There was a decent crowd and DJ. No hostess so we asked bartender for assistance, she asked us to wait while she went to get our host/server. We were seated and handed food menus and offered water. Server comes back 10 minutes later with water and asks for our order. We order wings as the appetizer, with salmon dinner and shrimp and grits as entrees. We asked for a drink menu which was taken from another table with people sitting at it. Food was brought to the table in take out containers and we were told it was because the kitchen was closing.. food came out separately and out of order salmon, then wings, then shrimp and grits arrived 10 minutes after everything else which by the way had no sausage in it as advertised. Food and music were good that's why the 2 stars../service extremely undesirable and unprofessional. Bathrooms were also not the clean and toilet paper not in roll. read more

Totally disappointed - We went there for their Mothers Day Jazz Brunch today and wished we had saved the money! Should I start with the plastic flatware, plastic cups and paper napkins or the over cooked bacon, no scrambled eggs "ready" or the omelet station that had the items sitting on the table for everyone to breathe on; not to mention the gentlemen making them had no idea of how to make a proper omelet. We did not ask for scrambled eggs with veggies Sir. We basically did not enjoy any of the limited food choices and the fact they did not offer ANY dessert items made the experience even more bitter. Every single time I have tired this place it has been an issue! I only went back because I understand mistakes happen. 1st in ordered the pasta paid for shrimp and chicken only to receive noodles ! This was on a carry order order! I called and no one ever called back. Next time I ordered chicken and fries the fries were terrible burnt ends like the end of the batch. I called spoke to a manger who sent me a five dollar gift card. I then tired again they gave me a wait time of 25 minutes. I got there it was 7 ppl on line waiting for there orders the front staff was in the back taking more "grub hub orders" I waited 12 mins to get my food then I tired to use the GC and was told they don't have the reader for the GC they gave me!! Then I get home and it's literally 4 pieces of chicken on top of a box of pasta. If the kitchen is that busy close it earlier to provide adequate food for your customers!! While on vaca from the 'burgh, found this gem of a spot! Within walking distance from our hotel, we were not disappointed. Staff was attentive and fun. Food was awesome! The greens were on point and so was everything we ordered. The hubby said the shrimp was the best he'd had in a long time, better than Boston. The daughter had two helpings of greens. I got a few items to sample and share with a coworker since this was my first time ordering from here. We had the mac and cheese, it tasted like what you would make at home on the holidays, the spare ribs were really good not amazing but big and meaty and juicy, Lastly the best item was the shrimp and grits....for these I have no words...well I have to provide words since this is a review. The shrimp and grits were the best I ever had. The were flavorful, season well, a perfect amount of shrimp and they were a nice size. It was a filling portion and my coworker tried shrimp and grits for the first time in her life and says she is going back after work, lol. I went to Next Phaze with an open mind because they opened literally the day before. However, they exceeded all expectations. I got the BBQ chicken sandwich which I made into a combo and got the collard greens and sweet potato fries. There was so much chicken and cheese on the sandwich, it was amazing. Great BBQ flavor, and the sweet potato fries came seasoned with sugar and a side of this amazing brown sugar delightfulness of a sauce. I'd order just a serving of them next time they were so good. The collard greens were also on point, not too vinegary, a good amount of seasoning. All around I was super impressed. I went to next phaze. I was excite all week to attend to sit, eat and enjoy the jazz music. Got there by 7. It was a line The two owners were very apologetic about the wait. The tall manager stated that when a table becomes available we will be seated. We waited about 30 minutes and a table became available. We were next in line the tall manager goes past us and seat the ladies behind us. One of the ladies said arent you next. He act like we were not standing there and continue to take them to the table. Sir we all are special in the eyes of the beholder but i guess not to you. Thanks for a disappointing night. read more
