I had the all hail kale salad and it is my favorite item on the menu. Their concept of all vegetarian meals is great! I love that they are providing lots of options for those veggie lovers however, if you are a carnivore, like me, I would just take into consideration that their fake meat is not real, so don't have the same expectation you would for a real piece of chicken. We're not vegetarians but wanted to support the Pasadena Humane Society fundraiser. On-line ordering was easy and our food was ready at the designated time. The crispy cauliflower bites and tangy dipping sauce were delicious. I really could have them for lunch every day. The Chickin' plate was equally good. The chickin' was good, especially with the mushroom gravy and that was also good with the cauli-mashed potatoes. I've been here 3 times now and feel like I can give it some actual feedback. I've had the chicken sandwich, 'beyond burger,' chicken wings, barbecue sandwich annnnnnd all their juices/ teas. If you're wondering, yes everything is made out of veggies or tofu or both and nothing contains meat. I don't know- I'm not entirely sold on the concept but have been working on my commitment to veganism so I have to experiment and honestly other places do imitation meat better. Ok, honestly I'm not a picky person when it comes to restaurants. I'm not mean. I'm not a bad customer. I'm the guy that hates sending food back. I hate ruining peoples work day. I dont like to complain. Or think that I'm some fake food critic on Yelp. I'm a customer, but I'm also a person and I work in a kitchen/bar so I know how shitty customers can be, and I try my hardest to be polite and cordial and non-abrasive. However, the staff that works at this veggie grill sucks. It didn't used to be this way either. The girls/cashiers up front are nice they're doing fine it's all good, but other than that no one knows how to do anything! The whole place is always dirty. No one cleans fast enough and no one even notices. Or seems to care. It's like this EVERY TIME I walk into veggie grill now. Let me walk you through what happened today. I walked in, it's Sunday. It's a chill day there's not that many people there. I bring my menu to the front from the side, get up to order and immediately all these menus that people left up front fall on me. So I quickly collected them and brought them all to the side. (Why hasnt some one that works there done this already?) I go to find a table but almost all of them are dirty with plates and glasses and trash. (Where's the busser? Or one of the 3 food runners that are not doing anything?) finally I find a table and I go to get utensils and napkins and condiments. Get there and there's only a couple utensils here and there, and the napkins are covered in ketchup or something that's been crusted over. (Why? There's barely any one here, why hasn't someone restocked the napkins, and utensils? Wiped the area down a bit?) When we sit down my friend said "I got the Santa Fe chicken sandwich again, last time we were here they gave it to me grilled even though I asked for crispy, hopefully They heard me this time." And then when her food came out of course they brought it grilled.. why?? At one point while we were eating finally someone (who looked almost like the manager) came and started bussing the table next to us. Why?? Where's the bussers?? One time I came in and all the tables hadn't been bussed I had to sit all the way in the back by the door. And even then when I sat down and put my cup on the table my cup got caught on some dirt and grime and fell over onto my phone. I cleaned off my phone but the receiver ear speaker is still fucked up to this day. I can barely hear anybody when I have conversations now and I have to put my phone on speaker just to talk to people.. Ok my point is simply this. CLEAN Do your job, it's not that hard I have to do the same thing at a crowded bar till 2am you just gotta be on top of making sure people have places to sit and have clean utensils and napkins. Sure food orders always get messed up it happens, but at least CLEAN! My suggestion is this. Have two cashiers at all times and if it gets packed have one of the food runners fill in as a third cashier. Have two food runners. One is always running food and one can be cleaning. And restocking. Or they could all be doing these at the same time Anyway... two stars veggie grill. I love you and please get good again because I love coming there. Normally I wouldn't mind throwing $30 down at veggie grill because it's worth it. But when the whole place is a mess and your food starts sucking you feel like you're getting ripped off. read more

I love Veggie Grill and Hail Kale is one of my favorite all time salads. I am excited to have this location open up and couldn't wait to try it out. They are still working out the kinks and training staff which is apparent when comparing Pasadena Veggie Grill to other locations. The line was almost out the door and the poor cashier just couldn't keep up. I ordered a soup with my salad and it arrived 10 minutes after everything else. I had been wanting to try this place since it opened but none of my friends wanted to try it so I finally had a "me date" and decided to check it out last Sunday! I ordered the Santa Fe chickn sandwich and upgraded to sweet potato fries. My food was delicious. The only reason I'm giving it a 2 star is because this is a food establishment and has a patio and there was woman in side the restaurant with her lap dog, not a service dog. I have looked for the information to file a formal complaint with veggie grill but I haven't found one. I love dogs and I'm all for them being outside on the patio. read more

We had a strange experience here. The food was pretty good. But after we ordered the food, we walked around the place looking for a table. Almost every empty table was dirty and hadn't been bussed. We had to go back to the cashier and ask them if we could get a table cleaned. They were nice about it and then came with a very wet rag and "cleaned" the table, leaving a watery table. This place is my new favorite spot to eat in Pasadena! I've been really liking these new, fast-casual, organic ingredients, VEGAN restaurants. The workers here are all really nice, there's always someone visibly mopping the floor, wiping down tables, etc. This place is very clean. 31 minutes for a Togo order. 2 items 31 minutes... No it wasn't that busy. People ordering dine in happily eating eating despite ordering 10 and 20 minutes after me. Attendant blamed the wait on fries, used the same BS fry excuse on me and several other to go orders. Apparently to go fries are made in an entirely different secret process and aren't allowed to share the same oil as the high class dine in fries... I know this because the portly gentleman who ordered the dine in fries 20 minutes after me not only enjoyed a fry appetizer but really shamed me when his food and additional side of fries arrived with his meal, then just as he shoved the last fry in his mouth... It was my turn to enjoy my second class to go Fries, 31 minutes later... Also around the 30 minute mark I finally complained and pointed out the fry inequality, she got pissy with me and quietly handed me my food. I wish there were more restaurants like Veggie Grill. This is a phenomenal concept, offering healthy and meat free alternatives in a quick dining setting. I ordered the Vegan mac and cheese which was out of this world delicious as well as the Vegan Chicken Thai Salad. The place is packed, but the line moves quickly and the menu is priced at a reasonable rate. If you feel like having a beer/wine with your meal they are available. The staff is extremely bright and cheery and very helpful. I loved how clean and light the restaurant was as well as within walking distance from my office. I would almost say there are too many choices and options available (i.e. combos, bread substitutions, choices of sides, etc.)...typically something I would just chalk up to my own indecisiveness but the other people I was with agreed (I know...aren't people ever happy?). I would say if you are coming here for the first time, allow yourself at least 10 minutes to peruse the menu. Below are the choices we made: GRUB -Santa Fe Crispy Chickin' (wrap) with Yukon Fries. -Savory Kale Caesar (add grilled chickin'). -Grillin' Chickin' (wrap) with Coleslaw.. For the three of us, the total bill ran roughly $30...not bad, IMO. Honestly, I'd have to say the food was just okay. Everything I tried was a bit on the bland side. I attempted to "spice up" my wrap by using the available condiments (sea salt, pepper, hot sauce) but nothing exactly hit the spot. The other folks I was with agreed. The Yukon Fries were wonderful though. :) I would probably come here again just to be fair. The place piqued my interest enough to want to try something else, but not just yet. My kids and I love this place. Food is great. The service staff are helpful and friendly. So this place is a quick food place - not fast food, but not a sit-down-with-a-menu place either. It is easy to find something that you will enjoy. My younger son usually gets the same thing over and over ("chicken" nuggets), but my elder son and I have walked through the menu over time. Some of our favorites are the Santa Fe sandwich and the Buffalo Bomber. Both of these sandwiches are good - nice flavor and filling. We typically get the Yukon Gold fries (very good!), but we sometimes get the sweet potato fries (excellent as well). The Banh Mi salad is great, for those salad lovers out there. Beware that it might be too hot for some people. I did not really like the kale caesar. The drinks are really good. Both the strawberry lemonade and the regular lemonade are quite excellent. For iced tea lovers, there is a pomegranate tea that my son likes a lot. This place is not cheap. But an easy go to place to get healthful, tasty food in a short amount of time. Had a pretty bad experience with the customer service at the Irvine Spectrum location but gave this Pasadena location a second chance and the customer service was great. From the cashier Faith to the manager I forget her name, the customer service was great and I would come back to this location again. The food is pretty good too especially considering that they try to find alternative meatless proteins to create their dishes with.
