We asked for Level Up Insulation to improve the isolation between our garage and the upper floor. They responded promptly and scheduled a visit. When they stopped by to inspect the ceiling, they took their time and carefully diagnosed the best way to improve the insulation. I was able to contact Francisco and John to get insulation completed in my garage (unconditioned space) within a week. They were fast, efficient, and affordable. I got multiple quotes and they were the most reasonably cost based on cost of materials and labor. I had them do the walls first, had dry wallers come in, then they finished up with the blown-in for the ceiling. I had r15 batts installed in the walls and blown-in cellulose at 10" which is close to R30 value. I would highly recommend them at their reasonable cost per sqft. Bottom Line Up Front: Pay a bit more money to get better experience and responsiveness Our bedroom above the attached garage has been VERY cold, and we used Yelp to get several quotes for insulating our attic and the ceiling/wall of the garage. Level Up was the lowest bidder, but in retrospect we should have gone with a more experienced and larger company and paid some more money. They are very friendly, but it's a small company which had the following disadvantages: 1. Limited number of equipment/trucks. One of their jobs went late so they cancelled on me last minute and we rescheduled for the next morning. They were then 4 hours late showing up the next day because they had an issue with their truck starting. Once they started working their insulation blower broke down, but because there only other blower was on another job they had to cancel work that day and reschedule again. Perhaps not an issue for those with flexible schedules, but I was rearranging my work schedule for 3 consecutive days to accommodate. 2. Experience. While they seem to have done a good job in our attic, they didn't understand how to insulate my garage. They drilled one hole in the ceiling between the garage and the bedroom above and found some batting and basically said they couldn't do anything else to put more insulation in. (I've since talked to other Insulation companies and found out that you can cut the batting and blow in fiber above it to greatly improve the R value). They did fill in insulation on the wall of the garage, but I later found out from other insulation companies that to properly fill a wall you need to drill and fill every 16". Level Up only did 6 holes for a wall that is 20' x 15'. 3. Responsiveness. After we saw effectively no difference in the temperature in the bedroom, I contacted Level Up daily for 2 weeks requesting they come back to take another look at the garage and see if they could do anything to further improve the insulation. They continued to say that they would come by to take another look but failed to commit to a date. After pressing several times for a commitment, I said I would no longer be working with them if they couldn't come out soon at which point they stopped responding to me. read more
