I was looking for a place to go with my two sons (7 and 5) and my wife that we A. had not been before and B. Looked either interesting or tasty... or both. We decided to try next door. The night we went it was rainy. It was not a really big deal because the parking is very manageable - especially considering it's New Haven. We ordered some pizza, chicken wings and dessert. The food was AMAZING. Super fresh, very tasty and presentation was perfect. We literally ate everything. The only thing I snapped a photo of was my dessert. The wait staff were very kind. They provided my boys crayons and stuff to keep them busy. They always smiled and were very attentive. The Resturaunt itself was spacious, beautiful and clean. I got the impression that everyone that was working there, was happy to be there. And we were too!! 9.1/10

Honestly crushed! Found out they were closing 2 weeks ago and we came last weekend and dined in and came for take out just now and on both occasions, complete debacle! Dine in experience the service at the bar from Jose was probably one of the worst experiences ever and the food matched it as the pies were undercooked and we never had the chance to say anything as Jose couldn't understand hand signals or stares of help! Our pick up experience their last weekend was even more so disappointing. 2/3 pies were dry and the third pie was undercooked. Called them to let them know immediately and the girl who picked up with a slight accent never apologized nor did she even let us speak to manager or offer to even remake the one pie I really complained about which was the New Haven Pie. Sadly they are leaving a bad taste in my mouth and wish I had never gone back so as not to tarnish the positive experience that we had a few years back-nothing near what I remembered!

So the ambiance is fantastic with comfortable seating and a relaxed vibe. The service is top notch. Our server was very friendly and the food came out super fast. My espresso martini was incredible. (No Bailey's just as I like it.) The Caesar salad was absolutely delicious and a delightful surprise. As far as the pizza goes, I need to preface this with the fact that I am a complete pizza snob. The reason we ended up here tonight was because Modern Apizza was mobbed and I wasn't waiting an hour with a toddler in tow. (For the record I would have totally waited an hour sans toddler.) Anyway - the cheese pie has potential. The cheese and sauce are great but I can't get over the flop. The crust was a huge let down. With that said - I couldn't see their oven so maybe that's the difference. You see char so you think there will be crunch - but no such luck. The clams casino was just meh and I am very confused about the bell peppers. They were an unwelcomed surprise. So all in all, the highs were high, but the pizza was a letdown. Again - great vibe and service. I would totally go back for drinks and salads!

Excellent neighborhood pizza joint with a separate smallish bar area that gets busy when university is in session. We appreciate that Dining room tables aren't on top of one another here. We also appreciate that Next Door has more than just quality pizza, in fact their apps & salads are fresh & interesting & are at a nice portion size for sharing. All of the pies made here have a wonderful chewy crust & great sauce. Next Door also makes a reasonably priced & tasty New Haven style clam pie for folks not wanting to shell out 30 bucks or more as Zu ¶¶ard!s charges, the difference being that with Z's pie you are getting fresh shucked clams at market prices & Next Door uses canned. Service is excellent & very efficient. Go for the homemade molasses cookies afterwards. PS: good parking in their own lot.

While this was not my first time here I was lucky enough to have a mother daughter date at Next Door this past week. The Rossi Rita (Next Door's take on a strawberry margarita) hit the spot! My mom couldn't get over how this restaurant was so empty and served just as good pizza as the restaurants on Wooster street. We were immediately able to grab a parking space and once inside were able to select a table of our choosing. No need to wait outside! Food was served promptly and fresh. Do not sleep on this hidden gem!

Unfortunately, the food was SO RIDICULOUSLY DELICIOUS this is all we have to show for the Clams Casino and Garlic Knots.

We drove all the way from Durham NC for some New Haven pizza and Next Door did not disappoint!!!! You MUST order the garlic knots. Swimming in garlic...these are gooey-stretchy yeasty delights. The Clams Casino pizza was packed with flavor. Claudia and Doug were super friendly and welcoming. We will definitely be back!!! Oh and the ambiance is super cute.

Next Door is so much more then a pizza restaurant. We went there to try their great New Haven style thin crust pizza. We ordered a half mushroom, half sausage, mozz pizza. It was absolutely delicious, and perfectly cooked. But they also serve great appetizers, soups, stews, entrées, and sandwiches. They also make all their desserts on the premises. They even make their own ice cream. We ordered the strawberry shortcake made with their homemade biscuit.OMG it was so good. Our server was excellent, and the staff is very friendly. They also have a bar with seating, and a private party room.

Just tried Next Door for the first time this month and it was so good! New Haven Style Apizza was on point - we had the Mashed Potato and the Fresh Mozzarella. The crust and toppings were all perfect. They also have gluten-free, vegan, and vegetarian options. We tried the Penne Alla Vodka, which was delicious. The sauce was great, and excellent portion size. For a starter we had the Housemade Meatballs, which were very good. If you're a salad lover or want a side with your pizza the Winter Berry Salad was a great choice. If you saved room for dessert go for the Ice Cream Sammie, you won't be disappointed! Definitely make sure to check this place out. Staff is excellent, very friendly and accommodating. There's a small parking lot onsite and plenty of street parking. Also, spacious seating inside.

So my friend and I came here for dinner and ordered half a barbecue chicken and half cheese. The pizza was floppy but good. If I rate it 7.3 only one slice, my fingers got dirty from the crust, and it was oily in the cheese

I got mash potato pie and it was SO GOOD!! I highly recommend it. The toppings were perfectly balanced with its dough, it's so savory and fluffy!

This was my first time here and as a pizza lover I had to try it out. The restaurant is cozy with a great bar area. Since it was my first time here, I wanted to try just a small half plain and bacon pizza. When it's my first time trying a new pizza place, I always get plain pizza because if you can't make plain pizza good then it's not good pizza. Also, when I try a new pizza place, I want to taste the flavors and if the pizza is good, then I'll go back and try different toppings. The pizza was very good and had great flavor. The dough was great and the customer was awesome. I would definitely be back again. As you can see, I ate the whole pizza. It was delicious.

Saturday night in New Haven. I want really good pizza without hassle I come here. I drive by people standing out in rain in line for Modern. Meanwhile I order online here 15 min later drive up and grab some perfection. This pizza is seasoned perfectly. The garlic is all over it. Popping with flavor. tomato sauce, pecorino romano, evoo, oregano & fresh garlic are the ingredients. Nothing more needed for this slice of heaven.

I had scoured Eater's New Haven section earlier that day and seen BAR mentioned for where to get apizza. We traveled into the quaint-ish New Haven core and parked on the street. Luckily, they had just opened, so we were seated upon arrival. We got two pies: the Clam Casino and the Portrait of New Haven. The PoNH was good. The ricotta was a nice contrast to the sausage and red peppers. The Clam Casino was worth the journey by itself, however. It turns out clams on a pizza is a great idea. Large whole clams and bacon with cherry peppers? Damned right. I wasn't familiar with New Haven brand ("apizza" as I've now been told), but the char on the bottom from the wood-fired oven is crucial at holding some topping combinations to a higher echelon than others (where it deflates others): see the other-worldly good Clam Casino versus this-could-be-better-without Portrait of New Haven. Regardless, the Clam Casino would be a go-to if I lived anywhere near here. The inside is huge. We sat in the main barroom. It was warehousey, but a pool table and picnic tables for large parties gave it a cool vibe. I enjoyed watching the bar staff have to hunch under the bar opening, which doesn't hinge up, as we waited for our discs 'o dough.

This place is small, unapologetic, and full of character. Decorative firewood stacked with intention, walls filled with wine corks, and #10 tomato cans repurposed as pizza stands. Walk in and you immediately catch the vibe, exposed brick, distressed plaster, a slightly industrial, almost factory-style feel that somehow still feels warm and welcoming. The centerpiece of the room is the wood-fired oven, running hot and glowing with that perfect orange flame. The aroma of burning wood hits you right away and sets the tone. From that moment on, the culinary experience is in motion. We ordered The Mootz and Breaking My Meatballs. Both pies are built on a very thin, tender crust with beautiful leoparding. The dough is flavorful and clearly well-fermented. Sauce is applied with restraint, just enough to support the dough and cheese without overpowering them, and it delivers a clean, bright tomato flavor. Breaking My Meatballs was the standout. Homemade meatballs, herbed ricotta, cherry peppers, mozzarella, and that same balanced sauce. The cherry peppers bring a sharp vinegar tang that cuts perfectly through the richness of the ricotta and meatballs. Every bite hits a different note, and it all works together. Easily one of my favorites. The crust across the board was thin and tender with a delicate smoky char from the wood fire, exactly what you want from this style. Bottom line: Great spot. Excellent pizza. Super friendly staff

Kwok has more than 20 years experience in the hospitality industry. Some of the other restaurants he has opened include Sweet Basil in Fairfield, Pink Sumo Sushi & Sake Cafe in Westport, and Eat Noodle in Bridgeport. Kwok and Nguyen's latest venture opened at the Connecticut Post Mall in a restaurant space that was previously home to Cast Iron Chef Kitchen & Bar, which specialized in tavern-style pizzas cooked in a cast-iron skillet. 8 Thousand Pizza offers this same style of pizza, but what sets them apart from the previous pizzeria is that they also offer self-pouring technology, which became legalized in Connecticut in 2021. The food menu features two dozen tavern-style pizzas as well as burgers, wings, fries, salads and soups. Through the use of a supplied electronic bracelet, customers can self-pour their own beverage from a selection of 28 craft beer taps and 6 wine taps. There's a two-pint or 32-ounce limit for the self-pours. I recently visited 8 Thousand Pizza for dinner. I had previously visited the space when it was Cast Iron Chef Kitchen & Bar and was sad to hear that they moved. However, this new business concept of a tavern-style pizzeria with self-pouring taps sounded very interesting to me. This was actually my first visit to a self-pouring taproom, as these types of establishments only just began opening in the state in the last few years. After looking over the menu, I decided to order the "Grandma's Tomato Pizza" (fresh mozzarella, tomato sauce, roasted garlic, tomatoes and EVOO) and the "Hot Honey Pepperoni Pizza" (tomato sauce, pepperoni, hot honey sauce and mozzarella cheese). The latter happens to be 8 Thousand's signature pizza. Both pizzas had crust so thin that it's almost cracker like; they didn't flop at all. They were super crispy with excellent sauce and toppings. I honestly can't decide which one I liked better; they were both very good. During my visit, I enjoyed some self-pours of Grey Sail Brewing's "Captain's Daughter" (Double New England IPA) and New Park Brewing's "Cloudscape" (American IPA). Delicious pizza with craft beer is always an excellent pairing! I had a really nice experience at 8 Thousand Pizza and I hope to return with my family.
