Middle of the road Chinese food on the go. Sometimes you take a chance and try something despite the iffy reviews. I think this spot has really generous portions for the price and staff are super friendly. However, with so many great Chinese food options in the 805 this one wouldn't be as memorable for me. Hot bars are always a risk as food can tend to sit out, especially if you come at an off hour. I will say this hot bar Chinese spot had a stellar assortment! One of the better assortments with over 10 main dishes plus sides and carbs. This was pretty cool. The prices are extremely reasonable for the scoops they give and the food did look appealing. The staff who helped me was super nice and he was funny. He definitely brought the vibes which made me want to like this spot even more. I felt valued as a new customer and the service was 5 stars for a to go spot. At the end of the day the food was just okay. Some bites better than others. I will say the chow mein was so tasty! While I can't put my finger on what made it special it was just very flavorful and good chew on the noodles. If I had to pick a main dish that was decent I'd say the black pepper beef. However the two chicken dishes I tried I really didn't like much. Anything with a crispy batter here is a no go for me unless it literally came right off the wok. The sesame chicken had a crispy batter by look but upon biting into it I could tell it was old, a little cold and soggy. The black bean chicken was just a little too fatty and dark meat for me. Maybe some would like it but I would pass. Veggie egg-rolls were cold but had good flavor. Overall I liked a couple bites but probably not enough to come back anytime soon. I think this spot is ideal if you just want a lot of food for a reasonable price. If you aren't took picky and want to try something new this restaurant definitely deserves your business, I just find myself to be a little pickier now a days, that if I'm going to invest in the calories, I need it to be worth it. read more

I've been going to the New Panda for 20 years.We will never go there again. Today we went to the New Panda. The guy in the back was yelling when we arrived. That's fine, I'm sure he has a busy job. He continued to raise his voice at me and my daughter. He said what you want! I told him "We'd like to order", he said " then you go home!". I went in late before closing on a Wednesday night, was surprised to see every single tin full of food, (possibly due to the earlier rain showers) but it all looked delicious! I got 3item with half and half chowmein/fried rice, kung pow, mushroom chicken, beef and broccoli and it did NOT disappoint. (Except for the thigh meat which is a personal preference. Recently haven't been liking thigh meat for some reason) Noodles were flavorful and delicious, the fried rice was really good and my favorite part that was the cherry on top of everything was the fresh large chunks of zucchini! Veggies were all cooked to perfection! Service was great too, I like how comfortable the guy made me feel when he asked how my day was and his honesty in his response. I'll definitely be going back. This is a place I am surprised to write a pretty optimistic review because of my initial judgment towards the place. My husband took us here on one of our first dates and swore by the place and you know what it really grew on me. The obvious pro is the portion size here is enormous they do not skip out on anything rice and chow mean portions are equivalent to the meats you order and the price for his boat load of Chinese is as low as it can get. My husband who typically feels full after 2 (2 plate entries of Panda Express) gets easily filled up with this bad boy meal. It's not the fanciest place either, but heck, 80's deco can pass for some tasty food. I generally got the wonton soup which is pretty good. Today I got curry chicken and white rice. My mom and brother shared a combo C. The total cost for both and a drink was $15.37, but there was enough food to feed 5. They load their containers to the brink of collapsible with extra chow mien literally escaping the sides of the containers. When you order a combo, they're soo used to people not wanting fried rice, you can just ask for extra chow mien instead. You also get choice of three entrees under the "steam table." If you REALLY want to be picky and choose the best possible looking food, you can ask for the chef to custom you a plate with shrimp or other meat. The guy has been there FOREVER and will be happy to. My mom and brother really do not care on appearances though, and were happy with the 5pds of Chinese food they got for 6.99. A custom plate would run you $8.50. I'm okay with it because of its genre: not fancy Chinese food, just good food at an awkward location.
