My group of 7 came in and it was packed so I advise coming as soon as they open. We waited 15-20 minutes, which wasn't too bad. Food was pretty average but I've also had plenty of dim sum in my life so i can be a tough critic. If you have a strong dim sum craving, this will cure it. My favorites were the chicken feet and Chinese fried dough. Some dishes lacked flavor but everything came out hot and fresh so that was good, plus service was pretty good. read more

New Fortune 2 - Dim Sum Near Me - Austin, Texas

Have been coming here for a while now literally so good! Best and most authentic Chinese and Dim Sum food by far!! Service was great and very helpful. Environment is clean calm and a place you can enjoy good food with friends and family. Will be back of course! read more

Food is great, I do wish there was something posted or written so we knew what was offered with descriptions. I only knew because I studied the menu the night before we went and had already picked out the dim sum I wanted. read more

Ahhhh the memories of the old "New Fortune". Welcome to New Fortune 2, it's like nothing changed just a smaller space and complete with crowds too. As far as dim sum goes for Austin this place still has got it and certainly worth trying for any local lover. Atmosphere: I was actually impressed with the decor, I believe the building also used to be an asian restaurants previously, but the spacing and theming is a bit better than their last location. Food: Here it is one of the few dim sum spots in Austin that actually serves with carts in that traditional style. That just completes the whole experience, and makes it feel even more community like. With that said the choice of food doesn't disappoint, from the siu mai and the chicken feet, I had cravings and left happy. Service: I went during the dim sum service which in ways can be a bit chaotic, but expected. Carts of food come out with people serving them. It may not be as english friendly for some but the servers there will try to assist the best way they can. Every once in a while I get dim sum cravings. So easily every once in a while I'll be returning here as my go to spot. read more

Love the dim sum here. The service was great, been twice already and we were seated relatively quickly which, given the crowds at time, is fantastic. We brought a big group so we were able to try a lot of their dim sum options. Everything was delicious, while the carts could've come a bit faster, outside of that everything ran smoothly. A fan favorite were the chicken feet and Shumai of course. Can't wait to go back on another Sunday. read more

Delicious! Reminded me of SoCal dimsum! Service is excellent, prices are very fair. Enjoyed a nice lunch with my daughter.

Came here for dinner once and dim sum on a Sunday. No wait during dinner and food was great! My kids loved the fried rice and servers were really nice. Sunday dimsum was hectic. Came right at opening 10:30am and still waited about 30 mins. However, it was worth the wait. The quality was better than expected. I had tried the dim sum at the old location and feel like this is better. Some of the standout items were the lotus wrapped chicken sticky rice, har gow, and shrimp rice rolls. Its not CA or Dallas quality dim sum but it's way better than all the other Austin alternatives. Plus they have carts which is hard to find now. read more

I thought this place was very underwhelming. I don't think it's the best dimsum in town, except for maybe the chicken feet. I wanted to give them 3.5 stars but that's not an option so I'll round up lol decent service, food came out fairly quick. The chive dumplings were good and juicy but the shumai dish was a bit dry. Nothing special about the spare ribs. The salted tofu pork grew on me after a few bites. At first it was overwhelmingly salty because of the fish sauce but tasted better when you combine it with rice. I don't think I would order it again though. I would probably come back just for the chicken feet and maybe to try their other dishes. It's a very nicely decorated restaurant. read more

So excited to find a REAL dim sum restaurant in Cedar Park/Austin!!! They had dim sum carts with all the standard items: bbq pork buns, har gow, siu mai, rice noodle rolls, egg tarts, sesame balls, salt pepper fried shrimp, and the list goes on! They also took orders and sent dishes from the kitchen if you didn't see what you wanted on the carts. Very much like an SF Bay Area dim sum restaurant. Large restaurant with lots of tables. Friendly service, would highly recommend to anyone looking for a solid dim sum experience. read more

Recently went a few days ago and ordered a few of same items from last time and new ones (steamed spared ribs and the honey walnut shrimp). Definitely do not recommend their honey walnut shrimp as it had this unpleasant overly sweet aftertaste and barely ate half the dish. The dimsum didn't seem as fresh this time. I will have to try to come on the weekends to see if there's a difference in quality. read more

It's been awhile since coming to this place. It didn't disappoint at all. Every dish was delicious. Service was good.

Went to the newly reopened New Fortune and I think it's a solid dim sum spot for Austin. Went during soft opening so not everything was available and service was slow. We were seated in the small side room due to our large party. It's been pretty busy since opening so I suggest getting there prior to opening. read more

Honestly my expectations were not that high for dim sum in Austin and I'm not an Austin native so I don't know the other variations of this restaurant. That being said, this place was decent. We got here a little after 10am on Saturday and were seated right away. The dim sum was decent. Nothing really stood out to me. We liked the shumai the most because it was the warmest dish between all the other ones we ordered. The turnip cake I thought had a sauce come with it but we were told we didn't need one. I'm pretty sure at other places, we got oyster sauce but that's fine. The tea was yummy but got cold fast since we were right under a fan. Overall, this place isn't terrible and if you're craving dim sum I'd go here. read more

Pretty busy when we got here on a Saturday afternoon. Waited for 10 minutes in our party of 3. The carts remind me of an old school dim sum spot from another place so it's nice to see. Service is quick and prices are fair. The food is good and I'd recommend it to anyone looking for good dim sum. read more

It's back with a vengeance!!! I missed this place so much after they closed during/after the pandemic. They were the only place in Austin with authentic dim sum. I've tried places like wu chow, Lin's, and another place owned by Lin's. Those are just super upscale places that over charge for things that aren't quite authentic. When I want good Chinese or Asian food, I want authentic. It doesn't have to be served on a pretty plate, it just needs to be good. I'm so so happy they're back and it's just as good as before. The place seems bigger and they're just as busy as the last one, so get here close to opening. We only waited 30 mins at 1130 though. read more

Man oh man I wanted to love this place so much!!! Ok let's get into it. -Parking I'd say slightly tricky to get in the front but I believe there is some in the back If u fallow gps it will take u right to the restaurant but met with some friends there n they had trouble fining the turn it's right next to shell gas . - prices unfortunately fair for the Austin area on dim sum. We went on Friday a few of us got dim sum. The other half got the lunch specials Lunch specials is a great price ! - quality dim sum was very filling, ok flavor but nothing exceptional loved the fact it was like I said before very large n filling the other la lunch specials were ok not a lot of flavor in our opinion Lots to pick from as far as options - inside: beautiful, clean lots n lots of seating - customer service the worst ! Idk if she was having a bad day but it was extremely rushed (now I can understand if it was busy or close to closing but it was 12 and it was us and 4-5 small tables in the whole place) She was rude , very short with us, seemed like we were a bother n when was asked for condiments that were on other tables as well as vinegar/spicy oil she didn't bother to bring after being asked nicely several times It just kinda put a damper on the whole experience Will be back though I feel maybe it was an off day and really want to try Saturday/Sunday cart dim sum Nothing but love read more

Had a great time for the first day with dimsum carts. Arrived at 10am for the 10:30am opening.. we were second in line and had a large group. Because of our size, we were seated in the side room.. not the best location at first with carts but we let the servers know we were there. Most dishes arrived hot but not everything was available in the 1 + hour we were there.. still working on the kinks most likely. The dumplings were awesome and homemade.. as were the custards and the buns.. glad new fortune is back and excited that the dim sum carts are still rolling in Austin! Will try them again.. giving them time to get settled and the crowds to calm too. read more

Food is great here and the workers were very sweet with my toddler. We will def come back!

It's definitely a no frill restaurant. We came on a Friday but they don't offer dim sum cart unless it's the the weekend. The prices are very cheap though but portions are on the smaller side. I tried their soup dumplings, salt and pepper tofu and crystal shrimp dumplings. Overall I think the soup dumplings were okay. The crystal shrimp dumplings aren't bad. The salt and pepper tofu has a nice seasoning on it. The service needs to be improved or hire more waitress. They already included tips if you have 5 people in your party. read more

Unfortunately I didn't get any photos, because I got too excited. So glad New Fortune was able to come back after closing due to COVID. It's one of the few cart service dim sum places in Austin. My group of 6 got there around 11, and we waited a little over an hour to be seated. It was busy due to all the excitement of new dim sum and/or cart service dim sum, so keep this in mind. Be patient with them, as I'm sure they're working out the kinks. Otherwise, I can happily attest that New Fortune has maintained their quality of dim sum from the original location/restaurant. Busy and bustling, but cool delicious dim sum. The parking lot is small considering the popularity of dim sum on the wknd, so be aware you might need to consider ride share services. read more

I'm so happy New Fortune is back. This review is for their soft opening so note that there's definitely kinks to work out. 1. The parking lot is insanely small for weekend dim sum crowds--expect to park in the streets. On regular weekdays, I bet it's perfectly fine. 2. They have cart service on weekends and the food is still very good quality 3. Expect a wait. For a group of 6, we waited over an hour but they were calling out numbers. 4. The bad side is some times things run out so fast that you might not get what you were hoping for. I asked for cheung fun from one of the workers because I never saw it come out and they promised to bring it by. We waited for 30+ minutes before having to flag them again and only got half of the order. Never saw it come by at all in the carts. Note that they told us they only accept 1 card per table and that tip was already included (I think in the case of many tables) so make sure you are double checking your bill. Overall, I hope the kinks get worked out with the carts/food but I still enjoyed the experience. read more

3 stars cus the food was good. A waitress tried to convince us (2 people) to order lobster, but we want other dishes so did not take it. The waitress took order then never comes back ,not even once to check if we were ok or need with anything even though the restaurant was not busy. That is bad behavior!! Need to change or it will affect the business badly!! read more

Fantastic dim sum .. everything was fresh and delicious. Staff were really polite and the service was excellent

This location has been 3 different places I know of. Went in today to see the newest place. LOVE it! Delicious food, fresh crab and lobster! An amazing menu! Perfect for a lunch date, celebrating someone's achievement in school or career. Great vibes, great menu, great flavor! What else you need? read more

New Fortune 2 - Wor Wonton Soup - Dim Sum Near Me - Austin, Texas

Our first visit on Thursday afternoon. The parking lot was full.Inside qas 85% full, pretty good business. For two people, we ordered Dimsum #1, 3, and 5. We added this popular Stir fry flat noodles with beef. For food, it is an absolute 4. The quality and value are pretty good on all that we ordered. There is 'wok hei' in the noodle dish. The shrimp dumplings have lots of shrimp, the akin is thin. For service, it is 3.5. Nothing bad, just a busy shift for them, we have to flag them a couple times. For Ambiance, it is a 4. Nice design from the previous Jina's kitchen. Spacious and still clean. I notice they now have stacks of styro foam containers everywhere for convenience. I wish they put them away in a corner to maintain a nice ambiance. Restroom has a table under the sink. Has three yellow wet floor signs in one corner. Need to declutter. Overall, a good visit, we will be back. read more

1. Service: Subpar. We were seated at the back of the restaurant where the drinks were. Lots of staff frantically passing by us. Barely any carts. They just went right past us 70% of the time, and I had to wave my arms to get their attention. Our waitress took our drink orders and gave us the check, only after we waved to get her attention. She passed by us frequently but never acknowledged us, even when we directly asked her a question. Most likely a language barrier situation, but she really didn't seem to care. 2. The food. As previously mentioned, we didn't get to experience all the offerings because they simply passed us by. We were right by the kitchen exit, however, we were overlooked most of the time. Very disappointing. The dim sum is average at best. I am from Houston and accustomed to authentic, high quality dim sum. The only dish we truly enjoyed were the pan fried dumplings. They were cooked perfectly. 3. Price. All in all it was over $40 and we had about 4 dishes. I really was looking forward to eating here, but sadly, it was a disappointment. read more

We clocked 30 minutes from arriving and leaving, which is pretty impressive service speed, even at lunch hour. The food came literally 5 minutes within ordering. I would recommend the sesame tofu from the lunch menu and their version of sweet egg custard buns (#17 on the dim sum menu). The chili oil and sriracha weren't our favorites, but the food is worth a drive if you live far. read more

Great food and service at a super- reasonable price. Everything we sampled was excellent but my favorite was the shrimp and leek dumplings.

The food was okay, but the attitude was terrible. I went to pick up my order, and as I walked over to the pickup area and lifted a bag to see if it was mine, a woman gave me a nasty look, sized me up and down, and snapped at me, saying, "You can't take that--what if you take someone else's?" I told her it was my first time picking up... It honestly felt like I swallowed a fly--absolutely disgusting. read more

New Fortune 2 - Fried noodles / Salt and Pepper Fish Fillet (HKL), Singapore style vermicelli - Dim Sum Near Me - Austin, Texas

Amazing is a good word for the food here. I attended an annual Lunar New Years dinner and was delighted by the quality and flavor. I ordered Basil Chicken Dumplings and Happy Family. Both had flavor and texture I have not found in a Chinese restaurant in years. The dumplings had a lively crunch of water chestnut bits, and the pork actually tasted like pork, with a compliment of basil. Happy Family is a dished of stir fried vegetables and shrimp, chicken and pork. The meat was so tender I could separate it easily with chopsticks. The vegetables were cooked yet retained pleasant textures. And the sauce! I'm still trying to figure out the unique blend of flavors that raised this dish above the standard brown sauce stir fry. Service was great, considering it was New Year and we were a large group. My only complaint is that they don't have a location in South Austin! read more

Was excited to visit this new location, especially after New Fortune (1?) on N Lamar closed, but left disappointed. Same cart service and dim sum classics, but the quality and flavor were not up to par. The texture of the har gow and cheung fun were off - if you are familiar with dim sum, this is how you usually measure the quality of a dim sum restaurant. As we were getting ready for our second round, we found that all the carts had disappeared as well, around 12pm :0 read more

I'm so glad I have a go to dim sum spot in Austin now. Everything was so delicious and the service is great too. I got there about 20 minutes after opening on Saturday and was sat right away. Getting closer to 11 it was definitely getting busier. Will be back and bring anyone else I can! read more

I have only ever come here for the weekend dim sum with the cart service and I absolutely love it. It has all the dishes that I am looking for everything taste amazing. Delicious Chinese Dim Sum with very attentive staff. I Highly recommended and it Is on a great location around Lakeline and 620.

Food and service was fantastic. All the dim sum arriving on a cart reminded me of my visits to Hong Kong and sitting around the table with my family as we selected the dishes we wanted as it went by. I'm thrilled this is in Austin and I can get my fix when I want my favorite dishes. read more
