The food comes out hot, well seasoned, and in generous portions that are perfect for a full table. Every time we come back the quality is there and the pricing still feels very fair for the amount and variety you get, which is important when you're planning for a group. Service is one of the biggest reasons we keep choosing this spot. The staff is experienced with banquets and everything runs smoothly from start to finish. GM Simon is fantastic and always makes sure we're taken care of, which makes hosting here stress free and actually enjoyable. Apparently the new chef is from the same hometown as my family, which is part of the reason why they keep coming back; they claim they can't find the same flavors and ingredients elsewhere. Personally, probably because I grew up here and not in China, I don't necessarily share the same sentiment as my family. I don't care much for that stone pot rice, however, I do enjoy the soup! It's packed with collagen and super warming from the peppercorns and ginger. Their other dishes, including the classic salt and pepper shrimp and garlic pea shoots, are all pretty solid. This dish has a good variety of seafood. Seasoned well. Also delicious. (3) Eggplant with spicy sauce (4/5). Eggplant was cooked perfectly. I would prefer a bit more sauce. But it was still very good. Steamed rice and complementary soup is served with the meal. The restaurant is not very big. Tables are placed very close to each other. It feels a bit cramped dining in. Service was efficient. The food came out quickly. Parking in front of the restaurant is very limited. Luckily there is parking in back of the restaurant and on the street.

Having just come back from Hunan days earlier, I can tell you the food here definitely holds up. I've tried two other Hunan spots in Alhambra over the years that don't quite match up to the food I ate in Hunan. Be careful of spice levels here as regular spicy is very hot and even the milder levels are still quite hot, and I say this as someone who eats spicy food daily. The restaurant is run by a brother sister duo and her daughter and the service was exceptional and unusually above average. She was very attentive and asked for feedback for each dish, offering to adjust seasonings and spices on the way. We loved the food so much that we ordered extra to take home. If you love spicy food or authentic Hunan food in general, this is a must go.
