a menu for a chinese restaurant
Yvonne Y.

This is a brand new restaurant that just opened not too long ago as they are still working on finishing some small things like menu books. It is located in the same plaza as Yi Fang boba. Parking can be difficult because it is shared with other restaurants in the same plaza but there is street parking. If I am correct, this use to the original green zone and then another restaurant took over and now this current one. Inside is very clean, new chairs, tables, and lighting decor. Food is pretty good. Authentic Canto Chinese food. I came here with my parents for Lunar Eve to celebrate. We got this special goose dish that is so flavorful. It was marinated with soy sauce and every bite of it is juicy and sweet. Ordered some clay pot rice, veggies and this deep fried pork belly. It was so crispy! The pork belly was marinated in this fermented bean curd and then deep fried and sprinkled with cumin and other spices on top. I'm coming back to try other Chinese dishes!

Went next door to grab a drink next door and saw this new spot with people eating clay pot rice. Wonton noodles were good and reminded me of Maks noodle in Hong Kong , the veggie dish was amazing but not sure what's it called. The two clay pot rice was recommended by the waiter.. flavor was good and had a lot crispy rice on the bottom. Whenever I'm craving food from my hometown, I'll be coming here.

Left work late tonight and New Elite is just 3 minutes west on Valley Blvd of my office. I was originally going to come try this restaurant yesterday night for Mid-Autumn Festival dinner but found out they are closed on Tuesday. We arrived at 7:30 and took a look at the menu and this is a Cantonese restaurant that serves dishes more specifically to my family's region the Toisan (臺山) / Hoiping (開平) area of Guangdong. It was quite cool and chilly tonight and after looking at the menu, we decided on a soup and a claypot rice. Under the specialties we decided on the Tai Shan Style Salty Rice Ball (台山鹹湯圓) and the Quail & Preserved Meat Clay Pot Rice (鹌鹑腊味煲仔饭) to share. When the waitress came to take our order she asked us about a vegetable dish and recommended the Sautéed Preservee Chinese Pork Belly w/ Garlic Sprouts (腊味炒蒜苔). We were started off with some complimentary hot tea that was very fragrant and strong. First dish that came out was the Tai Shan Salty Rice Ball and it was a huge bowl for $13.90 and loaded with daikon strips, napa, salted chicken (steamed chicken that's cured by being patted down in salt) , Chinese sausage, shiitake mushrooms, ginger, dried shrimp, green onions, cilantro and soft pillowy rice balls which are little dumplings made from the perfect mixture of glutinous rice flour and water. The broth was so warm & comforting to the stomach and soul yet flavorful with all the ingredients. The second dish that came was the claypot. We took off all the preserved meats and quail and vegetables to a separate plate poured on their special soy sauce and mixed. The rice was perfectly cooked and as always the crispy rice at the bottom was the best, it turns out the quail was preserved too. Lastly was the recommended garlic sprouts and it was the first time we ever had it and it was sautéed with some long beans and preserved Chinese pork belly (臘肉) and the garlic sprouts and long beans vibrantly green and sautéed with so much "wok hay" we could hear it from the kitchen. The garlic sprouts were crunchy and naturally sweet complimented with the long beans and thinly sliced preserved pork belly, a wonderful vegetable dish. Really appreciative of the recommendation. As we were packing our leftovers to go, we were given complimentary dessert which is 砵仔糕, a steamed dessert made from rice flour, starch and either white or brown sugar and molded into little cups and it gets the best Asian compliment that it's "not too sweet". It was my first time trying it but nostalgic for my mom who had it growing up in Hong Kong. I'll definitely be back to try more of their soups, specialities, signature dishes, and even their lunch specials that's served everyday from 11:00 AM to 5:00 PM.

Five Flavored Goose

"The Five Flavors Goose" is absolutely delicious. The taro under the goose meat is tender and flavorful, paired with the sauce it's very tasty! The clay pot rice is also highly recommended! Very authentic Cantonese cuisine. Will definitely come again!

It's my favorite restaurant. Everything is so delicious! Highly recommend the "Five Flavor Goose". 五味鹅!五味鹅!五味 鹅!

Shoutout to David for being so personable, friendly, and helpful. He really made the atmosphere so lively. My favorites were the beef balls, ha gow and shu mai. Everything seemed like they were made to order besides a few things like the turnip cake and the cha siu bao (looked like they were under heat lamps near the register). Food came out quickly after ordering. The line was a bit long (30 min wait) on a Saturday at 1pm, but wasn't that bad because we stayed under the shade of the building. I really hope they open up a location in OC!

The man guy wasn't there either time and mane that's why? The women that were working really wrecked it for us. The turnip cake was cold and rubbery. We asked for a fresh one and the lady pointed at the dish and said "ye we just make". Bold face lie. I've eaten 10 of these over my visits and these were definitely not fresh. The potstickers were HALF the size they were from my first many visits. The shumai was so rubbery and warm. We didn't make it past one bite. The broccoli was fresh and tasted good. I'm not sure if we will be back. The last two times were so disappointing.

For dishes like the beef chow fun and steamed fish for about $14.88, making it super affordable for a large group meal. The food came out fresh and hot, and the menu had a lot of variety to choose from. The restaurant gets busy, on weekends but service moved pretty efficiently overall. A perk for this place is that they do have a parking garage, which made parking way less stressful compared to other busy dim sum spots in the area.

I heard about their AYCE dim sum promo but that actually made me not want to come because I knew the wait would've been very long, and I hate waiting for a table just to eat. Fast forward to tonight and a suggestion was made to try the $14.88 dinner special at Bistro 1968. Here's my honest review of my experience. * Parking - Self parking behind the restaurant. I came on a Monday night dinner time , and there was only 2 cars in the entire lot. The parking lot was very creepy as it was't too well lit. I could see the kitchen from the structure because the backdoor was left opened. There were boxes and junk littered around the area. * You have to walk through a long hallway from the parking lot to get to the restaurant. There are signs to guide you, but if you're going there for the first time, it could be a bit confusing. * We got there at 7pm and there was only 1 table of customers. I honestly don't know how to describe the decor because it depends on which part of restaurant you're looking at. * Staff were all VERY nice. They gave us free dessert (Egg Tarts and Pineapple Buns) so that was awesome. * Food - I ordered the Fried Fish but it wasn't fully cooked. Some parts were still raw so it had a fishy taste. We ate a few pieces but left most of it untouched. Everything else was pretty much okay except for its temperature - it was lukewarm. Nothing was piping hot except for the steamed Pork Spareribs from their all day dim sum menu. * There were some small gnats that kept flying around and when one actually landed in my food, I just stopped eating altogether. * No alcohol available but definitely not a huge deal. Their staff are so nice that I actually feel bad about not writing a positive review about the establishment, but I really just don't see how I am able to rate it any higher than 2 stars. I don't think I will be coming back.

Different from the restaurants serving dim sum on carts some folks may be used to. This is more of place someone would go to if you wanted quick dim sum at a great price. Highlights: -#5 har gow (aka crystal shrimp dumplings) was so plump and jam packed with shrimp! The skin was so chewy too. Delicious! -#25 black sesame with red bean paste was so fresh! It was crisp and chewy without feeling too heavy from the oil, if you stop at one that is haha -#6 siu mai was also so jam packed with meat and juicy! Still worth mentioning that the turnip cake was delicious in flavor but just not a highlight because it was on the mushier side. I'd still get it again though! Also, my partner really enjoyed the congee. I didn't try it though. Areas that can be improved: -the lotus sticky rice was a little lacking in flavor and meat. -the Cheung fun although had generous amounts of shrimp, it lacked bounce in the rice noodle. Maybe because it was cold by the time we ate it. -to reduce paper consumption, I recommend using laminate dry erase for the menus so they can be reused. Just an idea/suggestion! We were charged weekend prices because it is a holiday (President's Day). The accept credit card. You can also order via phone but we figured it wouldn't be too busy on a rainy day.

Won't allow to change some food on banquet menu, just had to add another dish. Food came out fast & with big plates, hardly any space on table, waiter just left it on top of 2 serving trays. The beef loc lac was tough, deep fried fish sauce tasted weird with their sweet sour sauce, pea sprouts which I was trying to change to another dish but couldn't, sure enough was so fibrous & chewy. The special fried rice was so full of all different kinds of meat that it was like a meal in itself. With 10 different dishes it would have been better to serve plain white rice. Felt service could been better for 18% service already added on bill. Tea was even charged. Had to ask for menu at cashier & was told already at table, asked for waiter so we can order, had to ask for water, spoons & forks or to have some serving plates taken away to have more space at table. There were few waiters & feel that they were not attentive and restaurant was not even busy. Even parking lot was not full but there was courtesy valet parking & girl was insisting on parking the cars even though several cars was starting to line up. I would never recommend or return to this place again. Just disappointed that my guests did not enjoy the food as well.
