Ordered the steak and eggs with salad instead of potatoes - my usual at every diner ... this place is more of a coffee shop than diner. Steak was cooked from frozen, so it was dry and kinda funky. This is one of the only restaurants where I prefer ordering by phone. I love talking to the owner. You can hear her care through the phone, and you can be sure that any dietary question would be answered correctly should you have food allergies, or just a preference (as many of us do). I love that their breakfast sausage is split lengthwise prior to grilling; it ensures a fully cooked product and gives additional surface area to sear. Their fries are incredible, and I love their take on the Greek diner menu. If I wasn't gluten-free, I would check out their daily specials as they tend t be a real bargain for the money. I love this place and hope they stay forever. A few years ago, when Sea Breeze across the street closed, and Vegas closed, I worried they would be next to retire. Thank you for still being here, and for keeping the same beautiful vintage decor. Someone else complained that the decor was awful...seriously? It's retro in a way you can't reproduce or restore a decade later when you miss that style. When you sit down in one of those booths, it feels like another era. I haven't been inside in years, but look forward to sitting in one of those booths again someday. read more

The diner a few blocks away from me closed so I resorted to coming here last Sunday. The place was packed around lunch time and to my dismay a lot smaller than I would've imagined. I loved the 50's feel of the setup. Even when the counter seats freed up, people still wanted to wait for the booths. So did I. After a 15 ish minute wait, my group of 4 was seated in the back. Their menu had all the classic diner items. I opted to share a Fried Filet of Sole sandwich and curly cheese fries with my bf. We also got a taste of the mushroom omelet (with cheese). Unfortunately, the omelet was cooked for too long and made the egg too dry. The sandwich came with tartar sauce, Cole slaw, and one pickle. When it comes to fried fish sandwiches, the tartar sauce is very essential and the staff provided us a generous amount. But it was nothing special. Now don't get me started on the cheese fries. We thought it was going to be like the nachos and cheese type of cheese but it seemed as if they put a few slices of cheese on top and it melted. And, yep it tastes as bad as it sounds! The cheese got cold and hardened up but it wasn't tasty to begin with anyway. So we just ripped off the cheese. You're better off ordering the regular curly fries. The food was meh but the staff was friendly and the interior design was cute. I would probably try a different diner in the area before coming back here. Rip-off. $2.25 for a regular coffee w/only one refill. $4.50 for a glass of OJ, not fresh-squeezed. $5.25 for a side-order of home fries. $6.75 for an egg and cheese. After looking all over Brooklyn for a good food place to eat my friend searched this diner and let me just say i would give them a 10 if i could. My first time here and definitely coming back if im ever around brooklyn. My friend had a BLT with fries and she said it was exactly what she had been craving and the fries were so crunchy on the outside but soft on the inisde perfect diner fries. I had a toast and turkey bacon with over meduim eggs and i can honestly say that it was just perfectly made. Goshhh made my morning !!!! Awesome, old-school mom and pop diner where the food is actually delicious and homemade. We've had everything from breakfast (solid), chix salad and tuna melts, wraps, meatloaf sandwich etc. Everything tastes truly homemade and is dirt cheap with friendly service. Small spot, used to be twice the size years ago. They are good for breakfast and brunch but they do stay open to 7-8pm sometimes. They have a limited menu and their "specials" that have been posted on their window for years. Clean spot with good service, good for a quick eat but not good for a big group. I gotta admit i walked by this place a few times and didn't notice it was a Restaurant finally hubby and i said lets looks for a spot near home to have some breakfast . The staff were very friendly everything seemed clean and very cozy , i cant complain for 22 dollars we each had 3 eggs scrambled lots of bacon and ham and he went with french toast which was covered in powdered sugar and syrup and i had the pancakes everything we Delicious i had a cup of coffee and he had a very tasty chocolate egg cream with lots of chocolate which made it even better . Cant say anything bad i think the price was very decent for the service and the amount of food we had . everything was correct and no mistakes on our meal . I've always wanted to try this place out because it's so close by the train station when get out of school. It usually was crowded so I never went in. My friend told me that their Philly cheese steak was really good so I decided to give it a try. Right off the bat, I noticed that the waiter was really friendly and accommodating. The waiting time was decent, 5-10 minutes at most for the food to be ready. The Philly cheese steak came with a ton of jumbo sized fries. The sandwich was served on a soft roll and flavorful and just awesome. The fries were the perfect texture, crispy on the outside and soft in the inside. The best thing about this place was the price. The whole meal was only $6.75 and I was stuffed even though I shared half my sandwich with a friend. I'm definitely stopping by here again. read more

Just an authentic Brooklyn experience. Just off the elevated subway stop a welcoming spot to grab some grub and then get the day going. It's a little tight inside, but seems like a family place. One of my favorite diners I've been to. It's a little hole in the wall joint and the spacing is very limited. But I've never had an issue with seating and I usually come during Saturday or Sundays around noon. Service here is great and that alone makes this place five stars. The waiting staff is very kind and attentive. The owner is usually behind the counter and is a pleasant person. I usually ask for a million things when I eat and after the food is served and the staff always comes through without any attitude. The food is pretty good quality for a diner as well. I usually get the chicken gyro with fries and the portions always leave me full when I walk out. Every time I've come the food quality has always been consistent which is a plus. Prices for the meals are so cheap too for a diner in the area. You can easily get a meal for two for about 20 dollars. I don't think that's a bad deal! I recommend this diner if you are just coming off the train or around the Bensonhurst area on weekend afternoon. read more

Can I admit I had absolutely NO CLUE this diner existed until a few years ago? I used to walk past it every day my entire life. Was this around when I was a kid? Food is always solid. The staff is always extremely friendly. Can't stress that enough. Like a previous reviewer mentioned, it has a very home-like feeling. The only reason I don't visit more frequently is that the prices are still diner prices, and I can't afford to pay $11 for an omelet or $9 for a breakfast sandwich. My brother and I choose this spot the few mornings we decide treat one another. You see remnants of Bensonhurst stopping by often -- this is a counter that many, many, many patrons remain loyal to for life. So easy to miss, but a neighborhood staple. read more

Today I ordered the Spinach Pie which comes with a Greek Salad: I ended up with a Gynormous piece of Spinach Pie and a nice sized Greek Salad. Both were delicious and I would definitely recommend this for a filling lunch. Not impressed with the selection, quality, nor prices of the food here. I had a Spanish omelet that looked like the egg was cooked, and then a concoction of canned mushrooms/veggies was thrown on top with a watered down tomato sauce. Hubby was equally unimpressed by his breakfast platter of bacon, eggs, and pancakes. We did love their child seat though. Instead of the regular bulky pieces that do not fit in narrow spaces, they have one that attaches right onto the table. It was a great fit for our booth. Just stopped by here tonight with my husband. We've lived in the neighborhood for four years now and have never dined at this restaurant. My husband and I shared a Philly cheese steak as we were just stopping by for a quick snack. The cheesesteak and fries were well cooked. I was very surprised at how well Kept the restaurant was. Definitely had a vintage feel to it. That was cool. Moving on, I am very big on cleaning dishes and I was happy to see that their dishes or spotless. The staff was very friendly and attentive. The only thing I would say is next time I would ask that the server a follow up on whether or not I would like mushrooms on my Philly cheesesteak..I totally forgot to ask him to leave off the mushrooms. Its difficult to drag our lazy feet more than a block or two for brunch on a weekend. However, after having read so many rave reviews by our fellow yelpers, we decided to give this place a try today. This is a few blocks walk from our apartment. The restaurant is small but clean. It was jam packed with patrons on today. My husband and I sat at our favorite place i.e. the counter stools. I ordered the omelette with feta and spinach and my husband ordered a western omelette for himself. We liked what we ate. The owners are friendly and the father son duo keeps the restaurant cheerful. The only thing is that it is a little pricey for the neighborhood. We shall be going back again and try the much acclaimed french toast this time. read more

I try to love mornings, but it's difficult. Grumpy, tired eyes, "ehhhh.." feeling. Walking into New Dyker made my Monday morning into a beautiful day. It's very convieniently located with lots of public service around, so the locals who've known this diner for years will still come in despite that there's currently a B Grade by the Sanitation department posted out the window. Decor's pretty plain, but it gives off a very home-like and familiar feeling. Relaxed. It's bigger than it looks from the inside. Service is extremely attentive & friendly. Owner's relaxed and chill. Prices are CHEAP. Best $4.50 breakfast ever--two eggs any style, potatoes, toast (jam/butter on the side), juice, & coffee/tea. Makes me feel horrible that I don't have enough time in the morning to enjoy a full breakfast, but instead settle for a quick sandwich at a deli, where the cost is the same. Came out of there feeling like I can take on the world. (Why don't regular restaurants give that feeling more often?) What can be said about Gus and his gang? Lots. One of the last remnants of old world Brooklyn where you can grab a booth or a quick hop up the counter. The menu may not be as large as the local diners but it is varied. Ask if you don't see it -- this morning they are making my son who is sick banana pancakes. And they deliver! You can call in your order or use Grubhub.com (another favorite). Walking in always makes me feel like I have stepped back into a part of my childhood where you go and everyone knows you and what you are having. Great chicken fingers. I came here for breakfast multiple times and the food was just ok, nothing special . Obviously you can't expect much from places like this and for the price you are paying, although today I was dissapointed. At first they gave us napkins which one of them was dirty. I ordered corned beef-hash and my girlfriend got mushroom omelette. The cornee beef-hash was way too salty and French fries almost raw ? My girlfriend's mushroom omelette was completly burned from outside and uncooked from the inside , how can you mess that up, seriously. She barerly touched anything. The only place open at 6 a.m. serving non-breakfast meals, so of course I had to stop by at 6am for just that. I ordered a chicken gyro with curly fries, and was given lots of refills on coffee (yay.) My friend ordered mashed potatoes, and spaghetti with chicken parmesan. Her food tasted amazing, and so did my fries. This place is really nice, but didn't really like how the chicken in the gyro I ordered tasted, it was really chewy. Nonetheless, if I ever need a diner that early & am in the area, I'll be back. Probably will order something else though. read more
