Cute set up. Roughly about 14 seats at the counter and 7 booths?
    Melody C.

The diner a few blocks away from me closed so I resorted to coming here last Sunday. The place was packed around lunch time and to my dismay a lot smaller than I would've imagined. I loved the 50's feel of the setup. Even when the counter seats freed up, people still wanted to wait for the booths. So did I. After a 15 ish minute wait, my group of 4 was seated in the back. Their menu had all the classic diner items. I opted to share a Fried Filet of Sole sandwich and curly cheese fries with my bf. We also got a taste of the mushroom omelet (with cheese). Unfortunately, the omelet was cooked for too long and made the egg too dry. The sandwich came with tartar sauce, Cole slaw, and one pickle. When it comes to fried fish sandwiches, the tartar sauce is very essential and the staff provided us a generous amount. But it was nothing special. Now don't get me started on the cheese fries. We thought it was going to be like the nachos and cheese type of cheese but it seemed as if they put a few slices of cheese on top and it melted. And, yep it tastes as bad as it sounds! The cheese got cold and hardened up but it wasn't tasty to begin with anyway. So we just ripped off the cheese. You're better off ordering the regular curly fries. The food was meh but the staff was friendly and the interior design was cute. I would probably try a different diner in the area before coming back here. Note: Cash only, found parking right outside on a Sunday

Great portions and comforting diner food. The pancake and sausage combo is my favorite go to. Each combo has 2 sausage cut in half. The pancakes are fluffy and delicious every time.

My weekend go to diner, small but the Mexican waiters and the boss lady there was nice! Food was huge portion and tasty!

Small spot, used to be twice the size years ago. They are good for breakfast and brunch but they do stay open to 7-8pm sometimes. They have a limited menu and their "specials" that have been posted on their window for years. Clean spot with good service, good for a quick eat but not good for a big group. They do deliver!

    Philly cheesesteak with fries

I've always wanted to try this place out because it's so close by the train station when get out of school. It usually was crowded so I never went in. My friend told me that their Philly cheese steak was really good so I decided to give it a try. Right off the bat, I noticed that the waiter was really friendly and accommodating. The waiting time was decent, 5-10 minutes at most for the food to be ready. The Philly cheese steak came with a ton of jumbo sized fries. The sandwich was served on a soft roll and flavorful and just awesome. The fries were the perfect texture, crispy on the outside and soft in the inside. The best thing about this place was the price. The whole meal was only $6.75 and I was stuffed even though I shared half my sandwich with a friend. I'm definitely stopping by here again.

I really had to sit in front of this...you're killing me here! YUM!

Ya never know. This used to be part of the charm, but now it's a liability because friends (and other chefs in the neighborhood) never want to go to Diner because...ya never know what it'll be. Diner has never coasted on continuity. They change up the menu every day. They write it on the paper tablecloth, for Chrissakes. But I still love that! I still find most of the food to be delicious (if pricey), I still think their cocktails are well-made (even if their bar is weirdly slow) and I love their brunch and I love the vibe, and I'm glad it's still here. Their Caesar salad is overrated, as is the burger, but they're always mixing it up. You could get lucky. Ya never know...

Cozy interior, but the concept seemed like...trying too hard to be different and hip...? Why do you make your waiters write down the menu on the table for each group of guests? Doesnt even save paper since those menus are not reused. And honestly, our waiter's handwriting was sometimes hard to read. Also, quite pricey. The crab pasta was $35, the celery root was also $35 (like what?!), the squash was $23, and the Caesar salad (not pictured) was $22. Service was friendly and knowledgeable on the food but slow.

But if you're looking for some excellent, straight forward, wonderfully crafted simplicity, this is in your wheelhouse. A quesadilla is a quesadilla, a hamburger a hamburger. Sounds boring? Not when your hamburger and quesadilla are amongst the best you've ever had at any diner, anywhere. Our waitress was very nice and allowed us to dine, unbothered. We ordered a fresh fruit platter for dessert. It included watermelon, mango, grapes, apples, strawberries, etc. very nice, well presented. The dining area certainly belies what happens in that kitchen behind the door. I'll be back to try some more simple, but excellent food.

This spot has a handful of tables and while we were there, quite a few to-go orders were picked up as well. Though we were the only diners, so I assume it's more of a breakfast/brunch spot. The menu is rather expansive with options from breakfast to lunch and dinner. After studying the menu, we opted for the Veggie Burger and the Meatball Parm Po'Boy. Our food was ready in about 20 minutes, which seemed a little long as we were the only diners, but we were not in a rush so it was fine. As the restaurant was unassuming, I honestly had pretty low expectations, but we both really enjoyed our meals. It was definitely large portions and really flavorful. My fiance said the Meatball Parm Po'Boy was delicious and I appreciated that the veggie burger seemed to be made in house as it was falling apart (in a good way) and you could distinguish some of the veggies. I ended up only eating about half of my burger and took the rest for lunch the next day and it held up well.

Whoever owns it this time, has figured out the perfect storm to not only stay open, but be constantly packed. Lines stretch out the door and down the block , waits can be over an hour for a table. I got lucky one night when there was no line & my girlfriend and I got a seat. To start off, the ambiance is rock solid, they got the classic old school American/ New York look. Beautiful lights, a sky line art work, comfy leather seats, and you can scribble on the table I love it. Staff & service are also amazing, there very attentive, respectful, friendly and the service is great, they do a great job in both of these aspects. However, their food is lacking. It's a very small menu, we ordered their burger, clams, wedge salad and Sunday. All of the items were fine, I personally didn't like the clams, I felt they were too dry, the burger was good but nothing you can't get anywhere else. The salad and Sunday weren't worth it. However, what was very disappointing, I believe they cook using cheap oils, because after our meal, my girlfriend & I just felt really bad in our stomach. I really wish this place well and hope they last, but the hype is way too high and I think they need to switch the oil and quality of their ingredients.

While they have all the traditional breakfast fare, I was so happy to see it also had a Caribbean twist to it. Lastly, we got a Caribbean omelet. My rice and pernil was solid. The rice could've used a tad bit more seasoning but when mixed with the side of beans and plantains plus a drizzle of hot sauce it was perfect. They had a variety of sauces--Tabasco (my fave), a Jamaican one that was super spicy, and a mild homemade one. The tres/quatro golpes was also a hearty choice with mangu (mashed plantain), sausage, fried cheese, and eggs. The pickled red onion balanced everything out. The fried cheese is similar to a halloumi but I think it's a bit more flavorful. All the flavors just melt together in your mouth perfectly. The French toast and omelet were good. I'd say the Caribbean items stole the show though. The place has a typical diner vibe and is on the small side. Food was served quickly and service was good. Discount if you pay in cash. Apparently there is more than one location in Manhattan. The inside reminded me of a classic diner. Comfy and with a pretty cool vibe. We all slid into a booth and looked over the seasonal offerings along with their standard menu. I was lured by the chicken Kyiv based on the picture of having two rolled up chicken cutlets stuffed with dill and other yumminess, but was a bit disappointment when it arrived with a single small cutlet on my plate with two heaping mounds of potatoes mash and broccoli. I instantly had regret when I should have gotten the borscht soup with pierogies, but wanted to try something I wouldn't usually. I should've stuck to what was safe. My work mom got the stuffed cabbage and that was a clear homerun- really loved the mushroom gravy that it came with. My other colleague got the potato pancake and wasn't too thrilled with it, while my boss got the two Swedish meatballs that he described to be Ikea worthy. Although this was my first time here, I can't say that anyone really loved the food nor would come out of their way to come back. I really was hoping this would have wow-ed me in some way, but I guess I'll stick to what's familiar.

A friend and I each got a soup to start our meal, along with sharing a Potato Pancake. The Matzoh Ball Soup and Potato Pancake were good, but not great. However, I enjoyed the Pork & Cabbage Soup enough to take home a quart. For entree, we shared a Deluxe Meat Plate that was quite delicious. All three pierogi flavors were great, but the short rib was my favorite, followed closely by the mushroom & sauerkraut. I also really enjoyed the grilled kielbasa, but sadly it was served at room temperature. Lastly, the stuffed cabbage is not usually my thing, yet I liked this version. Once again, it was served barely warm. Thankfully, we finished on a high note. My friend really wanted the Challah Bread Pudding, which was moist and tasty. However, the lovely waitress advised us strongly to try the Medovyk. This Ukrainian layered honey cake had a wonderful texture, not too creamy or sweet, with a great walnut flavor. We were extremely happy with her suggestion. We also really liked the diner vibes that felt warm and inviting. This was so close to a five star review. The main reason for the deduction was the temperature of our food being served. Hopefully that problem will be solved on my next visit.
