Essentially, I would be held captive to pricing and labor or just forfeit $160 for a useless "free diagnostic." Why couldn't that be told to me over yelp message rather than having me waste my time?

I came in for their free basic diagnostics, and they diagnosed and explained to me why it wasn't powering and possible repair scenarios and options, they also warned me that because of water damage there could be other components damaged. He told me that he didn't want me to believe only a battery replacement was needed only to find out the screen and port doesn't work too or worse just replace a part and a week later the water damage corrodes another part... He recommended I have my phone disassembled-which includes the water damage cleaning treatment and they can test each part of my phone. After they disassembled and cleaned my phone. I was very happy to find out that I didn't need to replace any parts, and my phone was working normally again. I'm not very smart with technology but they were very informative and easy to understand. Very pleased of their timely good work. And of course not having to pay for a new phone!

The world of Android rooting/unlocking/S-OFF, BOOTLOADERS etc... is very complex and you can easily screw up your phone. One CORRECTLY typed in command can make your phone unusable. Yep. That's right - correctly typed in commands - still screws up phone. That being said, MJ said if it turns on, all is not lost. Reasonable prices too. Less than some other guy on Craigslist that said he had the "lowest price". Skip the rest and go straight to MJ if you want Android work done.
