The world of Android rooting/unlocking/S-OFF, BOOTLOADERS etc... is very complex and you can easily screw up your phone. One CORRECTLY typed in command can make your phone unusable. Yep. That's right - correctly typed in commands - still screws up phone. That being said, MJ said if it turns on, all is not lost. Reasonable prices too. Android Hawaii gave me my life back!!! A couple days ago, my 1-yr old son got a hold of my phone and inadvertently activated a PIN lockscreen. Needless to say, I couldnt access any of the contents on my phone without inputting the unknown PIN that my son pressed. That's when devastation and desperation set in... because I had over 1000 precious pictures and videos of my son since birth. I went to numerous "cell phone repair" shops (who will remain unnamed) for a solution, and each one of them said the same thing... "You need to do a hard reset... all data will be lost!" I held out hope that someone could help bypass the PIN, or at least salvage the pictures. I didnt care about the texts, contacts, apps... as long as I could get back the priceless pictures. I literally could not sleep for the past 2 nights My wife's cousin, who always looks out for the best interest of others, mentioned that he heard of Android Hawaii and told me to call MJ. I called, explained my situation, and set up an appointment for the next day. He said that he had a 75% success rate in bypassing the PIN lockscreen... I thought that figure was promising. I showed up the next day, it took him less than 30 minutes to do his thing and VOILA!! My phone was unlocked, and all the precious pictures were there, intact. He even took the time to explain in simple terms what he did, and gave me a tutorial on how to use Google Photos to backup my pictures to prevent total loss in the event that my phone got into another "situation". I was willing to drop big bucks to recover the memories connected to the pictures on my phone. But MJ charged me a reasonable price. If you have a phone where you cannot replace the battery (e.g., the back case is not meant to be opened by the user), or an LG phone, go elsewhere. I will relate my experience and you can decide for yourself whether you want to take a risk or if you deem my concerns as being nit-picky. I visited this business because of all the good reviews here on Yelp. Initially, I was impressed and received my repaired phone on time (powered it up and it came to life). After walking back home, I found that I could not unlock my phone because MJ had not connected something in the device properly (fail #1). I walked back and MJ fixed it on the spot. A couple of days later, I found that the earpiece speaker was broken during MJ's repair (fail #2) and I could not use my phone privately, I could only use it in speakerphone mode. MJ apologized and offered me a loaner phone while he ordered the part to correct the issue, which I declined as I was going on a trip and needed my phone for email and contact data. When I returned from my trip, MJ advised me to come by anytime after 11am. I replied that I would be there just after 11. When I arrived at 11:10, MJ was nowhere to be found (fail #3). Turns out, he decided to go out for a cup of coffee, even though he knew full well that I would be there just after 11. Although I did not have to wait more than 10 minutes for him to show up, this lack of respect for my time to fix his mistake drove me nuts. He told me that the repair would be done in about 45 minutes so I left and walked around the area. But wait, there's more. After he got the speaker fixed from fail #2, he could not get the back case closed (fail #4). He whines that it was a common problem with phones that have installed batteries (i.e., non-user replaceable batteries). He suggested that I plug it into a charger and play a YouTube video for four hours in an attempt to warm the phone which would allow me to snap the case closed. Yea, that didn't work. Now I am going to have to pay someone else to finish the job properly. Seriously. In defense of MJ, he was really apologetic and nice about the first couple of fails. I just figured I'd give him the benefit of the doubt since "s**t happens". If it didn't, I wouldn't have had to use MJ's services to begin with, right? He seems like a nice guy and while he seems competent enough, the fact remains, in replacing my cracked glass, he made numerous other errors and I was left with an issue that I ultimately had to take elsewhere to get repaired. As a believer in karma, it truly pains me to have to leave such a bad review for anyone, especially a small business owner, as I used to be one myself. But the numerous mistakes and in the end, the callous disrespect for my time, money and business; has inspired me to leave these notes for you, my fellow Yelpers. So I guess the moral of the story is: don't f**k up your phone! Of course, if you are reading this you probably already have, so caveat emptor and try to have a nice day! :-) read more

MJ was a total life saver! I was visiting Hawaii for the first time and relaxing on the beach at Turtle Bay when suddenly my Samsung S5 crapped out. My heart dropped when my phone would not turn back on again. I had 2 more days of vacation left but did not want to wait until I came back to Cali to get it fixed. I knew my phone was fully charged, so it was not an issue with the battery. I suspect it was the power button sensor because it's a common issue with the S3 and S5. I was fortunate enough to be given the number to this business. I had a Japanese Samsung S6 Edge that was supposed to be unlocked, but when I got to Honolulu, I went to get Verizon service and found out it wasn't.
