Not impressed, which is terrible because I love NM! Not a week passes that I'm not on the NM app on my phone. So when I went to this store I was expecting fireworks. Nope. I came on 1 trip in search of Vosges chocolates that they supposedly carry. So I made my way through the handbag dept. were a sales associate saw me and turned around and walked away. Rude. So up the escalators I go and end up in the shoe dept. I fell in lust with some Alexander McQueen flats AND a ridiculously impractical but gorgeous pair of Christian Louboutin heels. Both on sale! Yay! But this time the sales associate is standing across the table from me, staring at me wordlessly. Ooooook....weird. So unfortunately, they were mostly sold out of the chocolates I was looking for. At least the sales associate in that area was pleasant. Went to Neiman Marcus to sample a few fragrances by Tom Ford before purchasing. Met a lovely young girl named Victoria who pleasantly assisted me. She also talked to me for a few mins about some other fragrances that I may possibly enjoy. I let her know that I was a bit upset at my self for missing out on a gift box set from Tom Ford. She told me that they were out for weeks. I let her know that I had a lunch date and if the fragrance I had come into sample continued to smell the way I liked then I would be back to purchase it. After lunch I went back. She had a huge smile on her face. She told me that she had gone to a different counter and long and behold she found the gift set that was being displayed in a wrong spot it had caught her attention through the corner of her eye. She asked if I would like to purchase it. Of course I wanted it. I even had some other questions about a different fragrance brand and even though it wasn't her section she apply talked to me about it. I had such a present experience that I will now forever continue to go to her for any new fragrance purchase. read more

The BEST customer service of any and all stores larger than a small boutique. I love that no matter what I'm shopping for (or merely browsing), the same sales staff I've known for 1/2 my life, are still employed there, ready and willing to find anything at their store or another store, and many remember my name and something specific I told them, sometimes a year or so before. Once you have a sales person in one of the dept.'s, that person will personally phone whenever there's a sale (of which there are so many) or when new merchandise I might be interested in, come in. As for the merchandise, I haven't found anywhere nearly as unique and high quality. When I'm looking at a $350-$500 dress, I don't want to see makeup on the collar and the same dress in 4 colors, 5 in each size and at every similar store. For the few times I've splurged on a designer bag, I'll buy it at NM Oakbrook simply because they have the best selection, the most designers and I won't see that same purse I saved for months for on every woman's arm on Michigan Ave. What I consistently find at the cosmetic counter, is whether you're buying a $20 Kiehls potion or a $200 tiny jar of LaMer, you're given the same attention and samples. If you ask, you'll get A LOT of samples. That's how I learned about Oribe hair care...one sample of the shampoo and conditioner; I'm a customer of their entire line, including their pricey yet outstanding hair mask. I literally buy all Birthday and holiday gifts at NM due to their easy return policy (even if I usually see my gifts worn or displayed in the homes of my friends and family) and excellent customer service! read more

I'm a nurse currently working on the frontlines. For Christmas, my aunt (who lives in AZ) decided to buy what she thought was a travel size Baccarat Rouge 540 by Maison Francis Kurkdjian for me to take with me while I travel for work. Turns out, it was not the fragrance, it was the Gold travel case meant to be filled with the travel size fragrance. When I opened the box, I realized it and informed her, to which she encouraged me to return it. Since I'm home for Christmas, I decided to take it to Neiman Marcus in Oakbrook, IL. When we were greeted by the sales associate at the Maison counter, she was not personable. I proceeded to explain that I was there to return the item because it was not what my aunt thought she was buying so I wanted her to get the money credited back to her account. The sales associate began to "educate" me, telling me the case is a very nice case and is meant to hold perfume. I informed her that because I've worn Baccarat Rouge 540 for quite some time, I'm aware. I then told her I'd still like to return the item. She told me that is something she would not do and advised me to mail the product back to my aunt so that she can return it to the "online" Neiman Marcus because they do not take returns. When I asked her to show me that policy, she declined. I explained that I've returned items before to Neiman Marcus and had recently returned an online purchase to Macy's, to which she replied "Well we aren't Macy's". I asked to speak to her manager. She pointed and said "She's over there. Feel free to talk to her". I explained the situation to the manager, and without hesitation, she asked the sales associate to go forward and process the return. After the manager walked away, the sales associate remained on hold with customer service and told me she was not going to refund the money without verifying with the online customer service that she could take it back. Appalled, I said "the manager just gave you the okay to proceed with the return, so why are you still refusing to refund the money?" She responded "Because we don't take online returns so I must check with them". I called the manager back over and again, the manager asked her to proceed with the return. She then hung the phone up and walked away. She asked me to move to the next register and processed the return. There was no apology for the mix up, no acknowledgement of the rude behavior, and no thank you for your business. I can tell you that I personally love Neiman Marcus and I've traveled all over the US and patronized many Neiman Marcus locations. I am so disappointed at the level of service I received at this location. You'd think with so many stores closing due to the pandemic, there would be more hospitality and appreciation to customers who continue to spend their hard earned money. I hope that this review is looked at as an opportunity to re-train the sales associate in the area of soft skills. Until then, I'll continue to buy my things from other locations. read more

Stores like this make me nervous. On a Tuesday morning, I strolled in wearing a hoodie, jeans, Uggs and a Marc Jacobs handbag. I doubt anyone noticed. The ladies at the cosmetics counters are very nice, just don't be snotty and ignore them. Two of them were more than happy to help me purchase an eyeshadow pallette, and then follow-up by calling other stores since they didn't have it. I was then offered a store credit card, which I initially declined. But they were giving away $100 gift card with your 2nd purchase - which the lady added meant I could just come in, get a soda in their cafe and then they'd mail my gift card. How's that for service? I would've given them 5 stars if the item I wanted was in stock, and if I didn't get that "you're not wanted feeling" in the handbags and accessories departments. read more

This review pertains to the NM Café located inside of the store: Food was excellent, service was excellent, and the atmosphere was good. But it feels like they're trying to be more upscale than they can be, especially with the retail section of the store clearly visible from the restaurant. In other words, don't make a reservation; you'll probably look like am idiot, as much as they'd like for it to be a place that you'd make a reservation for. And because of that, its a tad too expensive for what it turns out to be. Oh well, at least the puffy things with the strawberry butter are delicious! read more

5 star service all the time from an associate named Lisa Marie....she's gorgeous, elegant and gets to know her customers' needs. She's honest and makes me feel like a million bucks every time I go in there (and I am just a regular kind of girl...no silver spoon, no indispensable amounts of money...just like to spend a little more on high quality products throughout the year). She doesn't pressure me to buy items that I don't need/want; she listens to my areas of concern & helps me choose products based on what may suit me best. Sonata does amazing make-up applications at the Chanel counter. Love this store! I wish I had a giant bankroll so I could buy more clothing, shoes, purses and jewelry here. They use local artists for jewelry & they display their pictures/bio next to their products. A designer named Lana from Chicago has these amazing 14kt gold hoops that are on my wish list! Neiman Marcus in Oak Brook gets zero stars for customer service. I attempted to return an online order to the dress department. A saleswoman walk by me a couple of times without asking if I needed help. She continued to ignore me, so I approached the checkout area and put my dresses on the counter while I looked up the order on my phone. I stood there for at least 10 minutes. Finally, the saleswoman approached with 2 other customers in tow. One of them had an unopened box and stated that she should probably open it. The saleswoman then told me, "we have a return ambassador downstairs...it's not necessary bring returns to the dress department." I said thank you, but assumed her comment was meant for any future returns. After all, I had been standing there for quite a while. Meanwhile, she continued to ignore me while she asked the customer behind me for her phone number so she could begin a transaction. Come on! I grabbed my dresses and headed downstairs where a lovely salesperson handled my return quickly and efficiently. I asked to speak to a manager and she listened politely, but informed me that NM does indeed have return ambassadors to handle online returns. I get that. What NM needs to understand is that their customers don't walk in with that knowledge. Every customer deserves respect. The blonde saleswoman in dresses clearly needs training. She should have asked me if I minded that she handle the other customer's return/purchase first. I would have been fine with that. It's the complete rudeness and dismissal that I minded. Walked into Neiman Marcus Today and went to purchase more of my favorite cologne, Jo Malone, and walked up to the counter. Two individuals were in the area. One older white lady wearing a black shaw/scarf over her arms/shoulders and a gentleman wearing a red sweater tied around his neck. I walked up and said "hello" and no one said anything. I first assumed that they were waiting on someone so I waited off to the side and continued to smell some of the newer fragrances that interests me. NOT ONE TIME did they look up and say " We will be with you in a moment or Is everything ok?" The lady continued to do whatever on the register/computer and the gentleman walked back and forth facing bottles. I am still unclear why no one at least said hello. I walked off and asked another lady at another counter about how things are run in the store and she told me " To be honest, we don't ask people if they need help that often because people get upset". I am thinking to myself this is the dumbest thing ever and it is best to just walk away because clearly the area sales so much they do not have to speak. She did offer to help but I declined and told her I Was going to Nordstrom. Walked into the Jo Malone section at Nordstrom and it was a COMPLETE difference. The sales lady was waiting on another customer and she politely said, " As soon as I wrap this customer up, I will be right with you" she also asked if I smelled some of the newer fragrances and showed me two while the lady finished her transaction on the keypad. She Immediately gave her attention back to the lady and then on to me. The experience was awesome at Nordstrom as if I had known her for a very long time. With her help, I was in and out in 10 mins and a 300 dollar purchase. The problem I have with the saleswoman and salesman at Neiman's are: 1. Acknowledge your potential customer. That lets them know you may be busy but you will be with them in just a second. At least speak back when someone speaks to you. 2. If you see a customer smelling fragrances, at least look their way and ask could you show them something new. 3. The uppity sales tactics of the salesperson in a high end store needs to stop. I am not sure if you work on commission or not but that was a sale lost due to that silly attitude. 4. Those two who worked that area on Today, Sunday, around 3:30pm maybe should so to see Nella Kovacevic at Nordstroms as she could definitely teach them a thing or two about customer service. 5. Should I even touch on what the lady said about customers getting upset when you keep asking if they need help? Well no one even asked me once. If someone trained them that silly tactic, they are just awful and know nothing about customer service. Well, at least I got my two new fragrances, Velvet Rose and Oud and Mimosa and Cardamom with a new body oils. I will make Nordstroms my go to for my Jo Malone as they actually know customer service. read more

Took my son to Oakbrook mall for his birthday. Went to the Neiman Marcus there.since both my daughters wear Tom Ford, I stopped at the Tom Ford counter to get some samples of a couple different scents for them to try. The woman working there was extremely rude and dismissive. We left without getting samples. Seems she was out of or not offering any of the scents we asked for. After four different tries we just left. I called Neiman Marcus store customer service next day and they were just as dismissive. I have awful experience with Neiman Marcus gift cards which I purchased two years ago. At that time I was told they would never expire. Now I wanna use them online however I don't have access anymore. I called and were forwarded to different persons on the line. Then I went to the store and talked to the customer service, explained this issue, showed my Id and was told I would receive the gift cards by email. Four weeks later, I still receive nothing. I called the lady of the customer service every week and each time she told me she was working on that. I have no idea how long it takes to fix the problem. No more gift cards with NM! read more

Well i returned something here that was bought online and they shipped the wrong size. Apparently their online store is on a different system than their in store computers. So after waiting 3 weeks for my credit I decide to get the right size, I am in the middle of checking out and the woman stops and runs to go help someone else out who is buying a much higher ticket item than I am. After waiting 8 minutes someone else finally comes over to "help me." Neimans is the one that needs help. I've never been disappointed at any store located in Oakbrook mall before. Nordstrom will continue to get my business. And I hate to sound rude but all 3 people who i interacted with spoke such poor english that I nearly walked out, not that I mind anyone new to this country, however Im in sales and I strongly believe employees are the face of the company. Yes, Zodiac Cafe. You are worth raving about again. In these times of economic stresses, Zodiac is a nice and affordable, upscale lunch retreat. I ordered a veggie wrap with the most amazing poppy seed dressing. They sold me a hearty jar of it for $9. And the conversation that goes on in this place is worth it. My husband and I ate in near silence listening to the people seated next to us. It's like sitting in on a soap opera. Good food, good entertainment. read more

Does anyone even work in this store?! It's a complete ghost town and when you finally track down an employee you will find them all huddled together in a corner of the store gossiping about customers.Even if you try to call a specific department, you are transferred and never connected. It took me 2 days to finally reach the shoe department to have shoes repaired. They told me it would take 3 weeks. During work I received a call that I could not answer. I did have a voice mail that was just music playing (as if I was on hold.) After googling the number, I realized it was NM. I attempted to call back for 2 days and got transferred to the shoe department each time with no answer. Once I finally spoke to someone, she acted rude and confused saying, "uh yeah they are here??" I explained that I never got a call telling me that they were in and no message was ever left for me to come pick them up. When I went in to get them the box was ripped up and the sales associate barely even talked to me. Not to mention, when I initially purchased the shoes, a different sales associate was rude and did not even offer me assistance. If you think that spending hundreds of dollars on a product would give you decent customer service then you are sadly mistaken. read more

To be treated like I do not know better, lied to and told that I don't need a receipt because my transactions is in their "system". I was told my package already shipped on Saturday morning and I couldn't change my mind when in fact I phoned back the following Tuesday to speak with the same sales associate and it still had not shipped! I like to purchase my Makeup here during incircle and Beauty event. I love the samples and gift sets at this time. The staff is friendly and always helpful. I prefer to shop with a sales person rather than an artist. Sales is on comission and wants to make sure I am happy with my products and usually has a vast knowledge on all the products. I Shop with Gig over by Bobbi Brown she has been there for awhile and knows her stuff! The sale racks for last call are always a good deal as well. I will give this place 3 stars. Pretty neat decor and the beauty/shoes sections are pretty good. However, I'd have to minus 2 stars for its outrageous prices. I think it was the tip of the ice berg when I realized that a big fashion book would cost me $600. I'm more of a Nordstrom type of a gal. On the other hand, my aunts (who are older than I) definitely do the most damage as they were all over the store and its merchandise. Surprisingly nice Saturday brunch with a good friend at NM Cafe - Neiman Marcus Oakbrook Center, 2nd floor. Greeted with smiling faces and wait staff very friendly, knowledge and attentive. We enjoyed the shot of chicken broth & pastry they present when we first sat down. The orange mimosa and bubbly white wine were delightful. We tried the turkey club sandwich and salmon salad, both were excellent. For dessert we tried the carrot cake and took the chocolate chip cookies to go, both tasty. Walking around the center afterwards made for a nice afternoon. Would definitely go back soon. Keep up the good work! read more

My husband bought me my first pair of Loubitin's here for our anniversary. I was excited to open up the shoes until I found out they gave me two lefts. I called the store to exchange them and they said they would have Fed Ex pickup my current box and would mail me a brand new pair after they received it from the warehouse. So I finally got the shoes in the mail and one of them had the price sticker on the bottom.....definitely a shoe from the display floor. Received bad service in the cosmetics area. Felt discriminated against because I was wearing casual clothes while running errands. Ended up returning my purchase since I was so insulted. Completed the online survey and the store manager emailed me asking for my phone number so that they could contact me. They never did. Obviously, they do not care about their customers. Neiman Marcus has its restaurant and that is where my mom and I go for lunch when we can. It is not a very big place but it is the kind of restaurant that you can go super elegant or just casual dress. They have various locations, but the one I go to is the one in Oakbrook. I think the Neiman Marcus Restaurant is amazing, they have good service, it is not very expensive and the food is just hands down fantastic. When my mom and I go, there is never that much of a wait but we always go for lunch. We always get sit right away and many times in a four top, they take away the extra sets and the server comes right away. The server has always been really nice and friendly trying to make our meal more enjoyable. They have a very concise menu, which I love it makes the choosing easier. When the server comes to the table they always bring these marvelous pop overs with a homemade strawberry cream cheese. They also bring a small cup with a little bit of chicken broth for us to drink; it is suppose to clean your palate that way you can enjoy the food fully. My mom always gets the Arnold palmer and I get their iced tea, which is the best iced-tea I've ever had, it is like a mix of passion and green tea. As an entrée; I've only gotten their Black Jack Burger I get the burger well done, the burger has pepper jack cheese, onion, tomato, lettuce, avocado and it has potato wedges on the side. I have no complains about the quality of the meat or how well its done, it has great taste and the perfect seasoning. My mom, she has gotten the Italian Beef Sandwich and the Waldorf Salad as well. The sandwich looked amazing, it was made with chiapatta bread and the beef was thinly sliced and looked just amazing and they bring the sauce on the side so that the bread doesn't get too soggy. The salad was very good as well, it had enough dressing, the blue cheese, and the lettuce was edible. The food was just fantastic in general. I personally recommend this restaurant; it is kids friendly so you can bring the little ones with. The food is fantastic and the service great. What else could you ask for. read more

I just left the oakbrook Neimans after having an armful of dresses that I needed to try on for my sons upcoming wedding. The associate Julie comes over to inform me the lights will be dimmed because they were closing. I asked If I could try on the dresses and was told if I have to. Really? This is the last day of the last call sale and all sales are final, how do you buy a dress without trying it on. I was not the only guest that left the store due to Julie's attitude, the women next to me was equally disturbed and left. I guess customer service is not like it used to be here. Terry (shoes), Leslie (gowns), Pina (gowns), and Marla (alterations) are phenomenal- it is always an absolute pleasure working with them. What separates these women from the other associates within this store is not only will they never bat a negative eye at you, but they are tirelessly patient with meeting your every need and question with kindness. They never push or act bored, and they always make you feel welcome. Now here is why the store gets a 1 star (and honestly, the only reason this store gets 1 is because A. google won't allow anything less, and B. because those women are the only saving graces within this particular store. Without fail, every single time I go into this Neiman Marcus, I find myself in a Pretty Woman situation. I almost always brush it off, thinking it was funny because the commission will go to someone who actually treats me with the respect that I deserve, but now I've had just about enough of it. A manager by the name of Karen is by far the rudest person that I have dealt with at that store, and she's honestly lucky that even though I may not have been wearing the couture gowns I was returning so a neon sign saying "she has money" is lit across my body, I still have enough class to keep quiet and let other people's true colors show. Let me assure you, she is not the sole reason for such a low rating- I very literally get treated, or looked at in this way.. rude tones, not interested in what I have to say, people looking down their noses at me, etc. -but the way Karen treated me and made me feel definitely pushed me over the edge. Shame on her and shame on the people running this store for not making it clear that EVERY customer that walks through those doors should be treated with the same exact kindness and respect as any other customer, regardless of how much money it looks like they have. read more

This NM doesn't have a great selection, every time I come they don't have my size, or they don't have the color, so they have to order it for me from the warehouse in TX, free shipping but still a hassle since you have to wait...there's a little cafe on the second floor, but it's only open till 1pm. The service is ok, some of their sales people are very nice but most of them are very snooty, not sure why but my guess is because they are wearing Burberry, so they feel special? Oh the shoes department, that's another level of real bad customer service, the girl at the shoes department, wears super heavy makeup, walking the sales floor in Christian Louboutin stilettos and a tiny mini skirt, she keeps looking at herself on the mirror, fixing her make up while you try shoes... completely ignoring you... Wow! I was about to pay $1000 for a pair of shoes but they don't have my size, they don't have the color...
