Every time I come here I feel like I'm not supposed to be here. I think that's just me though because the employees are very friendly regardless. I haven't wandered through most of this store but the shoe selection is to die for. I wish I could get one of everything. Someday I will own a pair of Louboutins. I am a Tory Burch fanatic so before they had a store here at the Domain I came here to look and try on so I knew what to expect when ordering online. I've also purchased a few gift cards for my boss here for special occasions. They box up the gift card and put it in a gift bag which makes for great presentation. I just had a bad experience. The store website clearly states that they will alter items purchased elsewhere - of course for a fee. I have a special dress for a special occasion that needs to be shortened so I made an appointment online. I explained online that I purchased it elsewhere, described it, and explained what needed to be done. I drive 60 miles on my day off, show up, and I'm told that they won't alter my dress because I didn't buy it there. What? No one cared. read more

Setting the scene: It is 3:30PM on a Monday. I may be the only person in this store, along with my husband, and no one has moved to greet us or look at us. It seems painfully slow and everyone is on their phones. Went in to buy my third pair of the Gucci Princetown Slippers. They had a pretty rough selection (Gucci was furthest from the door and the table felt crammed with everything but the basics) but I decided I would try on the velvet slides with fur. Gentleman came over and said he would get me my size and got it quite promptly. However, he handed them to me and said "here you go young lady." Strike one. I'm not pushing 40 but I haven't been referred to as a young lady since I was 12... maybe 21. Let's not be condescending. I tried them on and was surprised to find that they didn't have a heel like the regular leather pair and pointed out to my husband. The associate was just staring at me so I slipped them off and told him that I couldn't do the ones with the fur because they don't have a heel. He looked at me and said, "okay", took them and walked away. Clearly he either 1. thought I couldnt afford them in the first place 2. really did not care. I told you the exact shoe I wanted, the issue I had with this shoe and what good sales person wouldn't make an alternate suggestion? Neiman's you need to do better on your training and or hiring. I wanted to make purchase in the store that exceeded the return price. The online manager was rude and not helpful. I almost left the store so upset. My husband probably would have preferred me NOT wanting to shop at Neiman's any more.... Neiman's in Austin is a true disappointment. It reminds me of the "little" Sears where I went to college. You know, big towns get the 'full-size' Sears with ALL of the departments - villages and intersections in the road get the 'little' Sears where you are supposed to order from the catalogue. Neiman-Marcus in Austin has that same "little Sears" vibe. I was hoping that it would have a large enough men's section so that I wouldn't have to drive to Houston or Dallas for a suit. But the Austin store's men's department is located in a corner ("oh yeah, over there on the way to the bathrooms") with a selection of stuff that ain't that good. Really, Last Call down south has a better selection of suits at times. Also, this location has no cafe or restaurant - one of those things that MAKES Neiman's a destination (yes, I love that lady-food they serve...). Last time I was there, they weren't even stocking Kiehl's. AND it was totally dead - as in I was the ONLY person there other than the salespeople. I've given up on this place. Is it just me?? Go naked. Conversely, go wearing full-body armor, so no one can see your skin tone, hair color or texture, nailpolish or body shape. Otherwise the staff will immediately, as you're walking off the escalator, find something that: - perfectly matches your shirt; - goes *perfectly* with your skin tone/hair color/earrings; - is just PERFECT for your body (when you know it is not). I've been there twice, today for an event with freebies. I should have worn a shirt that said "have mortgage & young dog. only want goodie bag." Unfortunately, I wore a dress with ruffles. Ruffles are apparently in. And I NEED to buy a leather jacket with ruffles that is 1.8 million times the price I paid for the dress. The lesson here: there's safety in numbers. Who can resist the lure of designer shoes, bags, fragrances and clothes? This is the mecca for all things chic and frivolous. Although not as large as stores in larger cities, this Neiman Marcus has a good selection of women's handbags, shoes, and clothes. The store is large, bright, and the service is good. The sales people are present, but not overly intrusive. There is a decent men's selection, although the selection feels a bit old. They recently started accepting Visa and Mastercard. read more

So to be honest, this is probably the smallest Neimans I've ever shopped at. Given that Saks has chosen to abandon ship in the ATX it only makes sense that all eyes must turn to Neimans to step it up. However because the fabulous Nathan I is in the house at this location IDGAF so I'm giving it 5 stars! I will admit that they really are stepping up their game. Prior to this year they didn't carry TF lipsticks. HOWEVER this is being remedied ASAP. I do find that the Salon shoes section is much smaller than the Houston store. This isn't a big issue for me because I like being able to drop in, see what's new, and then texting my Houston Sales Associate to hold my size. Yes, another issue, they almost never have my shoe size in store. My theory is this: for Neimans to stick around when Saks decided that Austin wasn't a large enough market to warrant a store any longer is a brave and bold move. Every large metropolitan does need a luxury department store and for what it is, it's nice to have this Neimans here. read more

Did you know that Neiman's only accepts cash, check or Amex inside their stores? Online, they accept all cards. I recently bought a friend's wedding gift from Neiman's. The personal service was amazing. Her wedding consultant answered my call when he wasn't even at work. It thought that was really neat. He located the particular item I wanted to buy when they didn't have it in stock and ordered it from Dallas to be shipped there. I went and paid for it ahead of time and then went in a second time to pick it up. I thought it was annoying that they couldn't take it off the registry until I paid. I was having it delivered to the store for God's sakes! Anyway, this place is just too expensive for me to give it anything higher than three stars. I'm not impressed by overpriced stuff. And Brides, if you're planning on registering here, I'd think twice about it. My friend said she had nothing but trouble. There were instances of items people bought as presents being just cancelled without warning after so much time of being on back order. My friend raised hell and they rectified it, but it was still a big hassle for her. read more

The good, the bad and the ugly. Neiman Marcus is a great place to shop with a couple inherent gremlins. From the moment you walk in the door, this store is visually impressive. My favorite is the current installation above the escalators which is a series of butterflies with small mirrors...very cool effect! If nothing else, go in to see this. Unless I am shopping for shoes or a suit, this store doesn't really have anything for me. I cannot pull of the Bruno look, nor do I wish to try. Unfortunately, that is the only stuff I seem to find in the active menswear section. I am just not into fashion that much...at least not for me. Now, upstairs is an entirely different story. The women's section is REALLY nice and has a lot of diversity. I shopped there for the first time two days ago and had a lot of fun. Here is how it went down... My girlfriend, who lives in San Francisco, desperately needed some new clothes to wear in the triple digit heat we are experiencing this week in Austin. Her mostly black and grey attire and long-sleeved shirts simply weren't cutting it. She needed sundresses. She needed shorts. She needed blouses, but most of all she needed color! We started by looking at the racks on our own. Don't do that. After 15 minutes of getting nowhere, I asked the cutest and best dressed sales associate to provide us with a fitting room and start bringing things she liked. This worked. She was really sweet and helpful from start to finish. Within minutes, she had tons of ideas and started loading us up. One outfit after another, I sat and watched the fashion show, providing my opinion along the way. After an hour or so and about 25 changes, we had 8 new blouses, 3 new pairs of shorts, and 3 new dresses. Success! Truthfully, this was a 5 star experience. I have to drop one star because of expense. Nothing was on sale so the bill was a bit chewy. Oh well, you can't take it with you, right? read more

I was so impressed with the service I received from Jeff in the shoe department. I went in to order my wedding shoes, only to find out they were "sold out" company wide. Additionally, the shoe wasn't going to be restocked until after my wedding. Jeff spent about an hour on the phone tracking down a stray pair in my size and had them shipped to me! I am so thankful for his hard work in finding my perfect wedding shoes. A few days later Jeff contacted me again to make sure the shoes arrived and that they fit! Talk about going above and beyond! The boutiques in Neimans do not look glamorous at all. The Chanel boutique is still carrying stock from a year ago and the area itself feels like it's 10 years old. There were even patent leather goods that were scuffed that I can't believe were still being offered for purchase. Yikes! The Gucci boutique had the sweetest SAs and even though the selection was small and didn't have all of the latest items, it was fun to browse and talk to the SAs. Very enjoyable! The shoe collection is basic with your standard selection of Chanel and Manolos. The clothing section, I didn't even bother with it. The selection is so small that I took one glance getting off the escalator and went back down. 4 stars because the SAs at Gucci are amazing! Even if the item isn't at the store, they can help get it in for you. Great smiles and service! In terms of Neiman Marcus overall, in comparison to other Neiman Marcus and high end department stores, this place would be more on the 2-3 star range. I wouldn't bother making a special trip to come here if you already have bigger/better stores near you. read more

Neiman Marcus satisfies a niche demand in Austin for upscale attire, no more no less. I agree with the comments regarding people needing to grow a thicker skin. Just because a sales' rep points out a sale rack to you does not mean you are being judged, and anyways what's wrong with either the sale rack or you? Keep in mind that the people who work here are probably not millionaires either, and I'm sure they pick up items from the sales rack. Personally I come here for suits and have consistently been happy with both the suits and the service. Ron Franco in the men's department has been consistently helpful. I will say that the men's department is woefully small, basically just a small corner of the store. They have suits, shoes, shirts, ties, and a handful of casual items. As I mentioned, however, I just come here for the suits -- thus, I'm not disappointed. The women's department is much larger (as is often the case). I'd say the male/female shopper ratio here is about 1:8. read more

Being from the east coast where dressing nice is not just a way of life, but a must I'll agree that this is a smaller NM. On the positive side they will do anything needed to get your size and/or color shipped to you. I have had several pleasant shopping trips with Billy in the mens shoe department. He did everything he could to find some shoes I was looking for including showing me the seasons "employee" look book so I could see what the entire company had to offer. I'm a person of instant gratification, so waiting for them to arrive was a little painful, but it's nice to know that there is someone there who will go out of their way to get what you desire. read more

I will start off by saying my sales person was really nice. His Manager needs to learn a bit about how to get repeat business. I bought my boyfriend a cologne for Christmas and it turned out to be the wrong sent. Went back to exchange it. Same cologne just different sent and the price went up 5 bucks. I know it's just 5 buck but it's the principle of the matter. The sales guy goes back to ask his manger to adjust it and the manager says no. It's 5 bucks and at a time when brick and mortar stores are in a all time slump. Bad business people. Leaves the costumer feel less then and that's never a good thing. read more

I'm happy that there is Neiman in Austin although it is a quite small one. I come here a lot for shoes, skincare, and makeup. I don't really have a specific SA that I always buy from cause the ones that I do like always end up leaving and I usually go there knowing specifically what I wanted. That being said, on the days when I do go there to browse around I find some sales associate quite rude and annoying. Is it because of the way I dress? Too casual that some of you think I can't afford the things here? Or what is it? Some of them seem unwilling to help and just stares at you. What's up with that?! One time I went there to show my friend the bb cream at the Dior counter and the lady that works there completely ignore us and when we ask her questions she had an annoyed face as if we are not going to buy which in the end we didn't because of her attitude. We rather buy it online. That was not the only time I seen rude sales there. I experienced it a couple of times in the shoes and handbag dept as well. Maybe it's because of my young Asian face that they think I can't afford to buy anything but that's not how you treat your customers. I like Nieman Marcus and their products but their customer service can greatly improve in all their departments. Just went to Chanel and bought a bag. I asked this guy to give me a brand new bag, bcoz what he showed me was the display bag. Lots of scratches. He said he will give me the brand new bag and just wait for 10 mins bcoz he will still bag it for me. So I pid 5600 round off, when I reach my room and checked my bag, there were a lot of scratches, and the hardware did not have a plastic. Looks like someone used the bag already. Maybe I'm biased. But when I first moved to Austin 4 years ago, the only thing that made me excited was the fact that NM does exist in Austin. The only local place where I can get my everything Chanel. I agree with the previous poster, in the Chanel department, Lauren is helpful as I dealt with her previously, you can also look for Melanie. She will be happy to send you text updates on what's coming to the store, take modelling pictures if you cannot be at the store to see the goods. In the shoe department, Lara is helpful. She will notify you when there is sales coming up. Locate your size somewhere else, if need be and she's very polite. I also brought my Chanel watch to be shorten even though I bought it from Saks from Troy Michigan and the folks in jewelry department are super helpful and treated my watch with care. Let me tell you, this Neiman Marcus location is the best!!! Always received good customer service from the Chanel, Gucci, shoes dept and cosmetic/fragrance dept! Even when you are not buying anything at the moment, they will still great you, offer assistance and hold a conversation about the product you are looking for. One day, I went with my sister and did not plan to spend anything but to just browse the Chanel purses and see what I want for valentine's day. The guy helped us out, showed me all the Chanel flap they have on the shelves and even offered suggestions. He wrote down the item #s and prices of the few ones that I liked and gave us his business card. He was so helpful! Few weeks down the road, my hubby started asking me what do I want for Valentine's day and so I remembered the card the associate gave me. I gave it to my hubby and to my surprise, he actually bought the medium Chanel flap for me!!! Nice way to get my 1st Chanel :) read more

I love Neimans and the prestige of the store but it is hit or miss if you are going to get help. I am use to the one in Dallas but this location is very nice and has great customer service. So this was a hit! We were asked multiple times if we needed help and the bathrooms are unbelievably great too!! I will for sure come back to this location! I had my makeup done by Maria at the Laura Mercier counter at NM and she was awesome! She was super sweet and knew about all the LM products and had great recommendations. She gave me tips and hints about skin care as well as the makeup. She was even able to answer questions about other product lines. Another customer came by and knew her by name and said she was going to come by later to get a quick makeover so that shows me a lot that she has local people to return to her. I knew I was in good hands! When I am in the Austin area again I will be sure to go by and see her. read more

When I heard Neiman's was coming to Austin, I was a bit skeptical that it would turn out to be another Saks. Quite the contrary, the sales staff is very helpful and goes out of their way to remember me and the things I like. And I am completely confident this has nothing to do with the amount of money I have spent there. The best time to go to Neiman's is during their sales. I've found some great deals and feel good about not paying full price. Guess it's my way of sticking it to the man. Mostly, I am giving 5 stars to the shoe department. Although they may not have everything you want in the store, they will definitely search the globe for a shoe and have it in your hands by the end of the week. My feet thank them. Where do I start! Well first never buy furniture online and secondly never buy it from Neiman Marcus. Neiman Marcus has a return policy that you can return furniture within 30 days if it's not to your satisfaction! However, I don't believe they really want you to return the furniture and they try to do anything they can for you not to return it! I received my bed that costs 2k. That same day I received it I called Neiman Marcus because I was displeased with my or purchase. So one of there reps got on the phone and started to give me the third degree about why I wanted to return it, then he started making suggestions on things Neiman Marcus could do Instead of a refund then he asked if they left boxes so that I could ship it back via FedEx??? He didn't ask if I wanted to return it for something else. After 10 minutes of his interrogation!!! I told him I had white glove treatment there was no boxes it was set up in my house and that they need to send someone to come and get it, then he put me in hold and hung up! This is supposed to be a high end store and I have received better customer service at Bob's Discount Furniture!!!!! So I called back and another rep said that he would submit my return request but couldn't provide a date, time, or amount that I have to pay to return the bed or confirmation email? All he could tell me that somebody would give a a call between 2-3 weeks to schedule me an appointment. Well I thought that he was making this up to get me off the phone???! So of course I called back the next day to confirm that a return request was made and when I was talking to the representative she said her system went down and to hold on of course I was disconnected and nobody called me back. So on the fourth call I immediately asked the representative to put a supervisor on the line he put me on hold.... Here we go again!!! The supervisor apologized for my"experience " but she verified that Jorge had submitted my return request but she did not have any other information to provide??? What kind of business is this? they promise you can return furniture, you call to try to return, and they make it difficult... I will follow up with an update as soon as I get a furniture pick up "scheduled" Neiman Marcus should be ashamed of themselves this is not how you conduct a upscale customer service experience!!!! read more

We went to Neiman Marcus, in Austin Texas at the Domain, to purchase a men's shirt to go with my son-in-law's Hugo Boss slacks. My daughter and I had been shopping ALL day and perhaps looked a bit wrinkled, but only because we'd been trying on AND BUYING clothes the entire day. We went straight to the men's department and started looking for that perfect shirt. There were literally 6 salespeople standing around and NOT ONE asked us if we needed any help, or even looked our direction for that matter! Ultimately, we asked one salesperson if they had 'Thomas Pink', which is a brand of men's shirts that can run from about $60-$250. He curtly answered, "oh, that would be at Nordstrom's" and walked away, as if we we were beneath him. We walked over to the Hugo Boss section, found a suitable shirt but not in the size we needed, and STILL didn't have a single salesperson look our direction, much less attempt to assist us. We did find a perfect Burberry shirt costing $250. STILL not one person tried to assist us even though there was a snooty guy looking at text messages on his phone only 3 feet away! I will say he did a great job... of ignoring us! Although this costly shirt was perfect, we thought screw them, they don't deserve our business and started to walk away. I, being the type of person finding it very difficult not to speak up when an injustice is taking place, talked my daughter (a surgeon married to a surgeon) into walking back to give them a piece of my mind. Just then a woman by the name of Debbie, came by and asked if anyone was helping us. We told her that on the contrary, we couldn't get a single person to look our direction, much less actually help us! She said that she was the floor manager and that she'd noticed our looking around as if we needed something. I told her that this type of POOR SERVICE should be unacceptable at a store that prides itself on "luxury". I said that they should not be judging a book by its cover, and that they were missing out on sales by refusing to serve us. She apologized profusely, stated that she agreed 100%, and proceeded to try to assist us. As a result, we went ahead and purchased the $250 Burberry men's shirt (because it really was what we'd been looking for ALL DAY). Based on our experience, we will likely NEVER shop there again! Although this ONE floor manager did the right thing and was pretty awesome, it wasn't enough to counter the snooty salespeople working the floor! This Neiman's isn't the largest I've been to, but let me tell you it is the one with the greatest customer service. I'm from San Francisco and frequently shop the NM in Union Square. Never have I been offered water, let alone greeted one-third as many times in SF as I've been while shopping just 3 hours at this Austin location. Austinians are wonderful indeed! I've found my personal shopper here. His name is Nathan Idais and his passion and knowledge of high-end handbags far exceeds anybody I know. And believe me, my girlfriends live and breathe high-end. He basically is a walking handbag encyclopedia. He will show you the latest drool-worthy YSL, Stella, Gucci, and his most favorite Chanel! He will get a sense of your style and reappear from his treasure chest ( the stockroom, lol) and take your breath away. Hint: not everything is always on display because there simply isn't enough room. I came in looking for the city Balenciaga, and left undecided among the YSL leather clutch in red, a pink leather logo Gucci tote, and the Chanel Grand Shopper Tote in black with the gold chain. But do not fret because Nathan will make you his client who will receive his special attention. Under your profile he will note your style, size, preferences, and WANTS. Now all I have to do is hand his card over to my significant other so he will have no headache shopping for my next special occasion gift *wink*. This really is a gem among all the Neiman's I've been to. It's jam-packed with merchandise and organized in a way you can easily find what you want. What a let down! I recently bought a pair of Tory Burch flats from Neiman Marcus. Upon my first visit, I already knew the pair I wanted, I did not need to try them on. After a few minutes of standing around a gentleman came over asked what I needed. He passed me on to another sales associate when he realized they didn't have my size. I told them I still wanted them and would buy them so that they could be sent to the store for pick up. I didn't want them sent to my apartment just to have them sit at my front door for a couple days while I was out of town. I was gone for week and when I got back to town I still had not received a call my shoes were in. I decided to call and once again was pushed around to 3 different people to find out they had arrived. (Great thanks for calling me). I head back to the store and I ask for the guy who actually completed the transaction and he was no where to be found. Another sales guy (yes a different one - how many people do they actually need working if they aren't helpful?!) asks for my info. I tell him my name Jennifer G****. He comes out of the back room and says here are two shoes for Deborah. Jennifer doesn't even remotely sound like Deborah. I tell him my name again and the type of shoes. So I wait and wait and wait all the while having to listen to another two associates discuss whether or not she could wear a size 8 in a pair of suede flats because she is an 8.5 in the patent leather. There are about 4 women browsing the shoe section at this point and they haven't acknowledged any of them! Then guy finally comes out saying (I kid you not) "I am really sorry I don't think we have your shoes, we only have some Tory Burch flats for a Jennifer". I took a deep breathe and told the man they were mine instead of the thousand snarky comments running through my head. It is funny all the other reviews complain about pushy sales associates which I would have much rather preferred over the 4 lackadaisical ones I dealt with! All in all I love my shoes but if I happen to drop some money on another pair, I will buy them at Nordstroms. read more

1) I am not a rich person I just had to establish that. I came in with friend on a whim (both of us poor college students) to look at pretty things we couldn't afford. We didn't realize it at the time, but we were extremely close to closing time. Even so, we were greeted immediately upon entry, and again several times while browsing. Not knowing it was basically closing time (it closes an hour before most of the rest of the shopping center), we took our sweet time looking around, holding stuff up, trying bags on, etc. We eventually made it to cosmetics where we sampled a few nail polishes, and I even asked a busy looking sales person for polish remover and she very kindly obliged. At this time, the metal gate was put down on the front entrance, and this was when we realized they were already closed. We had already selected one nail polish each to purchase, so we asked if we could still check out quickly and even though all of the sales people clearly looked to be in a small rush getting ready to close, several salespeople stopped to help and make sure we were taken care of. Once done, we were seen out by more friendly salespeople, and also given cute little cupcakes (although these were probably leftovers from the day?). My point is, I found the customer service here very welcoming, accommodating, and friendly. Despite us being unintentionally horrible customers coming in so late and clearly not looking to drop any big money, we were treated very well and like any customer should be. This was in stark contrast to the Saks in Austin that closed recently, where we also accidentally went in close to closing time (I don't know why or how we managed that twice, oops!) and were ignored, then spoken to very shortly/rudely by a sales person who's persona then completely flipped once she realized my friend was purchasing something (nail polish, again--it's the cheapest thing there). Every sales person we encountered there was very rude and rather disdainful towards us. No wonder they closed. I only took off one star because it is a rather small department store, and because everything is so pricey, but that part is to be expected.
