The short, dry review: I have watched two very special men in my life LOVE the end result of…read morereasonably priced, custom clothing. That's it. The long, dramatic review: I just wanted to cry tears of joy. My dad called to tell me that he is absolutely THRILLED with his new, custom trousers and shirt, and that I could not have given him a better Father's Day present. Why did this touch me so? My dad is a man who lovingly and gracefully raised three girls with all of the body issues that accompany that endeavor. He has been having body issues of his own for the last 3 years. Complaining of a stomach ache, he ended up having emergency appendix removal, appendix exploded on the table, 9" of intestines removed and a month in the hospital. He has not really been the same since. His body dramatically changed shape and none of his clothes fit right after that month. Dad was always a dapper dresser, with the kind of attention to the details that made my mom smile and say he would have made a great hair dresser. I do not think I have ever EVER seen my dad in a t-shirt or in jeans. He is snappy, and he likes to look snappy. He did not believe that the clothes would fit any better than what he could get from a men's store. Holly comes to your home, does about 100 measurements, talks with you while you choose specific fabrics from her many samples that you can touch and feel. You also choose specific design details for your shirt, trousers, or jacket. She arrives at your home later with the goods. I have a friend who looks like a model and is on the "call" list for By George For Men and Stag. He loves to look sharp and that can be very spendy. He now has several custom shirts, trousers, and even a jacket from J. Hilburn that make him look like a million bucks without breaking the bank. Once they have your measurements in the system, friends and family have a very easy job buying you the perfectly fitted shirt or trousers... and my dad even admitted that it is not anything at all like the clothing at a men's store, made for the masses. He went from, "nothing will ever fit quite right" to, "can you call Holly and order another shirt?"

Wow! Looking GOOD, Man!…read more I can not get over how great these shirts look on my colleagues. J Hilburn offers high-quality clothing at a great price. Holly's personal service ensures a great fit and a wonderful shopping experience. She even meets you at your home or office for the initial fitting. Armed with examples, a planning book, and loads of swatches, you can select exactly the shirt you want. With so many combinations, you are still ensured a unique look. Holly is amazing to work with. She'll make sure that the entire shopping experience is a breeze. I can't wait to see these shirts on the men in one of my weddings. No more "marshmallow puff" when they remove the jacket at the reception! And, unlike the claim for some hideous bridesmaids dresses, they really can wear it again! ;)

She offered to spot clean it and made it worse. She offered to give me money to get it cleaned and I agreed. She gave me the money from her own wallet and apologized for getting it dirty. Another woman came and grabbed the doll from my hand and started walking towards the back of the store, at first I thought she was just grabbing it to look at what damage was done and I when I called her she ignored me kept walking towards the back. So I followed her to the back of the store and asked her to give me back my doll and she tells me NO! And that because they gave me money the doll was theirs. I explained to her that no, this is my doll & since you guys got it dirty, the other woman was paying for me to get it cleaned since it was their fault it got dirty. She refused to give me back my doll even after I tried to grab it back from her. The other woman who gave me the money had to tell her to give me back the doll and that it was okay and she apologized to me. I am absolutely appalled at what just happened I left in tears. I will never recommend this place to others!!

When I had my work done, her website wasn't functioning at the time, but she was still very much in business. I gather that she mostly works by word of mouth, so please consider this to be my whole-hearted recommendation for her services. The suit she tailored needed a fair amount of work done, and now, it looks like a professionally bespoke suit. Speaking of bespoke suits, that's what she primarily does these days. And while I was there, I saw a few examples of her work - stunning handwork, fantastic detail. I'm saving my pennies for a bespoke suit from Francesca.

Francesca is a European Master Tailor. She did the alterations for my wedding dress and my…read morehusband's suit. My dress was a sheath design, with a slightly retro feel. The bridal shop told me it just needed a few alterations, but I wanted it to fit like a glove, so I called Francesca. It turned out, that for the fit to be perfect, my dress needed to be practically taken apart and resewn. She is amazingly detail oriented, down to removing her lipstick before coming anywhere near my dress and taking her sewing machines apart and hand cleaning them before working on my dress to keep it spotless. The fit of the dress was incredible when she was finished. Not a flaw anywhere that I could see. She also reworked my husband's Ralph Lauren Black label suit that the "tailor" at Ralph Lauren had completely massacred, as well as another Zegna suit of his that the alterations department at Nieman Marcus had butchered. Both fit him incredibly when she was finished. She completed my dress in a week, and both of my husband's suits in just under a week. She is a little pricey. Be sure to get an estimate from her before she starts work to avoid sticker shock, but in my opinion, she's completely worth it.

If you aren't familiar with Asian culture, just understand its different and please don't take it personal. As long as you are clear and direct about your wants and needs - Wong will listen and do it right. You cannot be a bride who shows up and stands quietly when something doesn't feel right. They will never know unless you say something. EVERY little detail I asked for along the way Wong and I have talked about and she made the process simple and clear for me. Especially in a time of pandemic when we are already very vulnerable - she made me feel good about my experience all around. Hi ladies! I wanted to share my experience with an incredible tailor/seamstress/alterations. I had the perfect dress ordered. Covered head to toe in beads. When it arrived it was going to require about $2000 plus in alterations (even though it was a custom dress). I just sat down and cried. Here we are going through a pandemic, my fiance has a heart attack and it leads to a triple heart bypass, my wedding will more than likely be delayed and my $4000 plus dress does not fit. I didn't have the kind of money to basically have my dress altered to actually fit me and started to believe I would just need to give up and find some cheapie dress that actually fit. And then I was connect with Wong Long. She cut me some discounts knowing what I was going through. My beaded head to toe dress needed to have most of the beads taken off, be taken in at least 4 inches on each side and in the shoulders (which are also all beads) and be hemmed to fit my 5 foot tall self. I just got home from my first fitting after she did the alterations on the sides of the dress. SHE IS AMAZING. Shes done all this work for a beyond fair price and has made the entire experience a one on one thing rather than me feeling like a number coming in and getting adjusted. She wears a mask, took my temperature and she has a whole back showroom with wall to wall mirrors so you can see every angle of your dress and if something should be changed or moved. If you need alterations..... PLEASE go to her. Shes a one woman team who has more years experience than I have been alive (and Im 39). I couldnt be happier with her help and I promise you will NOT be disappointed. PLEASE tell her I sent you. Im forever grateful to her. (she only deals in cash and checks so no extra charges incur). After my wedding I will share a picture of before and after of my dress.

She worked with me on what I planned on doing my wedding day, so that the dress could work around me. Also, she was genuinely interested in my future husband, how things were going, what my family was feeling... the whole deal. It was nice to talk with such a veteran of the field. However, with this experience I also got to hear her frustrations about other clients. I felt that I was put in awkward situation listening them. That's not to say that the quality of her alterations is lacking. She did a great job and I love my dress. It was a little pricey, but I still believe it was worth it. So here are my recommendations on working with Lupee: 1. Be respectful. The woman knows what she's doing, and you are also in her home. 2. Do not expect to get your dress fitted until 2 months or less before the wedding. 3. When in doubt, ask! She gives honest opinions. 4. And don't bring your family to the fittings. You are wearing the dress, not them. Besides, Lupee becomes a second Mom anyway. :)
