If you're looking for someone who can alter suits and fit them perfect to your size, this is your guy! His suits make you look real good, and he's able to add personal touches as well. He does stay busy so you need to get your suit into him in a good time, but he's able to take something short and make it long- not even sure how he takes pieces of your suit to do this but he makes it happen! I took my wedding dress to be taken in here and they did an amazing job. I knew my dress was going to be hard to work with with all the layers and specific fabric my dress had but they knocked it out the park! Three years ago while in San Francisco I purchased a John Varvatos suit at their Geary Street store. Being a big fan of Varvatos fashion I was very happy with my form-fitting, slim fit suit. Years past, life happened, and while checking the suit recently for an upcoming wedding I learned I was no longer a 38L. Distressed, I went online to research what my options were and who could help me. After reviewing several review websites I decided to call Neiman Marcus who sells John Varvatos to get their recommendation. Their first and only recommendation was G&N Bespoke Tailor and Alterations (I would later learn the Luis had previously worked there). The next day I took my suit to G&N. I was warmly greeted by Luis and tried on the suit for him to give his assessment. Luis calmed my nerves and assured me he could take it out and it would fit just as it did new. Today I picked up my suit, he was right! It fit just as well as it did after picking it up from the JV store after their in-house tailor made his adjustments. G&N did a great job for a very fair price. I was so impressed I dropped off a jacket that needs the shoulders taking in -- once again for a very good price. I needed the trousers to my suit's hem done. I was in a rush but I could wait to pick up next day so I did. Fast-forward pick up time, I did not have time to try the trousers on because now, I did have limited time. Two hours before the event I was going to, I find something peculiar: one leg's hem is absolutely perfect, the other, no evidence anybody even tried working on it! Notwithstanding such an atrocious experience, they charge $20 + tax per trouser, which is higher than the average tailor and, given that I do not really require a very skilled tailor, I could have gone to the $10 or less / trouser places all around Northwest Austin. Now, I reckon I didn't interact with their head tailor at any of my two visits for this job which, according to the reviews, he seems to be brilliant but, that does not justify a job not done hence, the rating I gave to G&N Bespoke Tailoring. read more

Wow! What a wonderful experience I had at G&N Bespoke Tailoring. I bought a top of the line swimsuit at Macy's and I needed to have it altered. I called around other Austin tailors only to be told that they don't work with that fabric, or it would be a week. Luis said, " Come on over and we will check it out." I told him that ideally I would like to have it tailored while I wait. I arrived and was treated like a queen. It was hot outside and I was offered a chilled bottle of water (to which I was ever so grateful.) Luis and Patricia were very professional and welcoming. It was like 1984 in Austin when the town was smaller and you knew you shop owners by name. My swimsuit was altered perfectly in less than 30 minutes. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND this business. G&N Bespoke Tailoring is the best tailor I have been to. I lived in Austin for 18 years before I moved to LA and I have not found another tailor as good. I will no longer get anything tailored in LA and I wait till I am going to Austin to get all my stuff tailor just so I can go back and visit Luis and he can take care of my clothes. He is an incredibly talented tailor and can not only make any piece of clothing look like it was personally made for your but if you are in need of a special piece of clothing he is happy to make it. The whole team at G&N is incredibly talented and dependable. They are happy to do small or large jobs, as long as you know what you want they can help. If you are unsure what a piece of clothing needs in order to look better you can ask they will be honest with you. G&N Bespoke Tailoring is the best tailor or alterations shop in Austin - period. Luis is a former Master Tailor at Neiman Marcus so he really knows his craft. His shop is very accommodating and very talented. If you need something quickly - he will work with you. If you need something difficult - he can probably do it. I honestly would not trust anyone else in town with an alteration. For example: I had three shirts I bought that were too slightly too big. I decided to take them to Ace Tailors because it is much closer to where I live. They told me they could not work on the shirts to make them fit appropriately. I took them to Luis, and he fixed them within a week, and they fit like a dream. If you have clothing you love but thought you could no longer wear, you should take it to Luis before you get rid of it. In addition, if you like having clothes made for you, I would seriously consider G&N before using a made-to-measure service. A made-to-measure service shows you fabrics and models, and then the garment is made to your measurements in the model you picked with maybe a few custom options. With Luis, you can get a completely handmade, custom garment -- truly bespoke. His prices are competitive and he can get all the same fabrics you would see at a made-to-measure shop. They specialize in Holland and Sherry but they have a ton of other options which can vary the price range from reasonable to extreme. G&N has made two suits for me and I would rank them with anything else you can find around. I've never written a review on Yelp before, but I really appreciate Luis, Patricia and the whole gang at G&N. They are good people delivering top-notch service for their customers. Do not go here! A huge rip off! They wanted to charge me $160 to hem and take in a very simple bridesmaids dress that only cost $150 to purchase.The other place I took it charged $35... insane. I dropped off the dress and paid and then went back realizing how insane that price was. They steamed off the chalk marks where they marked to hem leaving permanent black marks. They got them back to me in a very reasonable amount of time and were better priced than anywhere else I called. A week later I purchased a blazer that I loved but fit terribly in the body. I had a last minute business trip that I wanted to wear it for and called to see if they could alter it in time. She told me to come in that day and they made the alterations in 24 hours. I can't say enough about how great my experiences have been at G&N Bespoke Tailoring! Luis and Patricia are some of the nicest people you will ever meet. I have taken many items to Luis that were butchered by other tailor shops in Austin (Ace Tailors & Gassane Tailors) and every time he has worked his magic and the results have been nothing less than astonishing. One item in particular was an Italian designer brand pin-stripe suit that was originally worked on by Ace Tailors. The collar was too wide and their solution was to just cut it from the rear middle of the neck. Of course in doing that, it left a seam that was so hideous I thought the suit was ruined. I showed it to Luis and of course the first thing he said was that if they needed to narrow the collar they should have never cut it in the middle. He took my suit and undid the seam and then reattached it by hand, stitching along one of the pin stripes edges on the collar. The attention to detail and the way he reattached it you could no longer see the horrible seam mark made by the previous tailor. In a stroke of genius he saved one of my go-to suits and I couldn't be more thrilled. Another item he fixed for me was sleeves on a leather jacket. Gassane Tailors originally shortened them for me but their work was really sloppy reattaching the cuff. Not only was the seam not straight, they didn't even use the correct machine or type of thread that is made for leather. The thread was way too thin for the ugly holes that they made on the jacket and didn't match the thread that was omnipresent on the rest of the jacket. Luis looked at the jacket and said, "no problem, I'll take care of it." When I came back to pick up the jacket I couldn't believe my eyes. He fixed the cuff so well and used the correct thread the jacket looked exactly the way it was intended from the manufacturer. Although alterations make up a lot of the work done at G&N the real specialty is bespoke tailoring. Luis has many clients he makes custom suits/shirts/pants for (some even travel to Austin to see him) and they always come back! I could continue to sing the praises of G&N but you are better off experiencing it for yourself. Once I found this place, there is nowhere else I will ever go for any of my tailoring needs! I had my favorite Harley Davidson leather jacket taken in. This jacket is a special and expensive gift from my Lady. I read the reviews of all the tailors listed on yelp and went with G&N. Met with Luis and Patricia, explaining both my wants and concerns. I felt comfortable enough to leave it. Patricia did quote a two week turn around but I didn't want them rushing so I agreed. Two weeks to the day and time my jacket was ready. I am pleased, very pleased. I wasn't too impressed with this place. I went with one of my bridesmaids to get her dress altered and the first appointment was fine, she didn't bring her shoes she was going to wear so they just altered the top. She paid $75 and I thought "okay that's not too bad" and thought that was all she had to pay. Well the second time she went so they could hem the bottom it was another $95??? I have no idea why the bottom would be more than the top but I had no idea she'd have to pay even more. And then when she went to go pick up the dress it wasn't even ready and they asked her to come back (she lives 45 minutes away so that wasn't an option) so they finally finished it the same day. On top of all of that they weren't the nicest. A couple of my bridesmaids are getting theirs done back in my hometown by an amazing lady and it's only $29. I wasn't too happy with our experience and hate that she had to pay so much. The only reason I gave 2 stars is because the dress looks good. read more
