I needed some work done on my hat and I researched all the places in Austin and I wanted to come here because I was familiar with the area and they parking can't be beat. What I found was friendly front staff that directed me to the hat guy. He was a pro and took good care of my hat and made it fit and look good. I couldn't be happier and this might be one of the few times that a tip is absolutely appropriate. I would recommend this place if you are shopping for or needing your hat adjusted. Every time I go to Cavender's Boot City, the song, "I wanna be a cowgirl plays in my head." Since I was lucky enough to find one casual top I was looking for, why not try to find another item I have been seeking also, i.e., satin western shirt with the shirt pockets with ivory translucent snap buttons and sleeves that have fringe jetting out the bottom portion of the sleeve. I wanted the western shirt to scream I am the Delores version of Tammy Wynette, country girl diva and don't mess with me. First, let me say Cavender's is a huge, cavernous building with a plethora of items for men and women ranging from western clothing to boots and jewelry. I walked up and down the isles looking for that ideal western top. I saw sweatshirts, coats, vests, and jackets with fringe but no fringe shirts. I felt like a cowgirl with a gun and holster on my hip. I saw my first salesperson and I said, "Howdy partner, do you know where I can find me a women's western shirt?" Why not snap into your country sounding voice, when you are in a western store? He said, "No, let me get the woman sales repr." Obviously, my imaginary gun and holster did not evoke fear where I was quickly ushered to a rounder of fringe western tops to choose from. The female sales associate came out to help me, but she said she was not sure if they had fringe western tops and helped me to look around. There were a number of western designers to choose from like Wrangler and Scully. To my surprise, western prices have escalated since I bought my western boots. Unfortunately, I did not score my western satin fringe top but it was entertaining to peruse the store. Some days you get 100% of what you want, somedays 50% and somedays 0%. I was at 50/50, so I cut my losses and headed home. That western top would be great for a western-themed party, or to add to a fashion-forward look. I will continue my search. read more

Oh WOW! What an amazing western store. So happy I stopped here first. I had a list of places I was going to shop at today for the perfect outfit, and man, this place did not disappoint. First I walked around the store to see and get a feel for everything. Then I walked back around and started grabbing clothes in my size. I also grabbed a pair of boots too. And I know I got a great price as I had already done some research on boots and prices. Really hard to find boots that I liked for under $250.00 Today I found boots way under that price. Not only did I get 1 outfit and boots. I got a second outfit and the boots look great with that second outfit as well. The store is set up with men's wear on the left. And women's wear on the right, because women are always right. Store is very large, super organized. Very clean. They do have mannequins that are dressed, so you can see how some outfits will look together. So much inventory in this store. Lots of hats, belts, boots, dresses, jeans, button down shirts, t-shirts. and even a baby and kids area. A lot of their clothes are priced high. For example a women's belt was $65.00 but it's real leather and a lot of craftsmen ship went into making it. After trying everything on, I went to the cashier where she was just finishing up with another customer. She asked if anyone helped me, I said no. Thinking back, I didn't really see any employees interacting with customers. She checked all my clothes for the security tags that she had to remove. On the pin pad facing me it was asking if I wanted to sign up for discounts. And I did. Later I got a text message saying my next in store purchase will be 10% off. Really happy with what I got. I can't wait to wear it out. Parking lot is big. I got there right when they opened, so the lot was empty. But an hour and half of being inside, I walked out and the lot was full! All pick up trucks. First time buying boots and hats at a Cavender's in TX. Definitely more of a rhinestone cowboy apparel joint. Glad they carry some Ariat and Charlie Horse items. 3 of 5 stars because the women selections for hats and hatbands was only 1 or 2 options (with only smalls in stock) and the customer service was awful. They also had very limited options for boots over size 8. The employees we came into contact with were crabby and tried to rush past and not make eye contact when they could see we were looking for help. The people at the checkout counter were a bit better. We visited in Feb 2022 a few weeks before the Rodeo in Austin so maybe they've been busy and dealing with a lot of people that need help and they're worn out? Hope they figure that out because the store was clean and setup well in a good shopping location right off a main road. We'll probably try a different location and not come back to this one in a few months when we want summer options. read more

Slightly smaller than the Cavender's south of town, this one makes up in customer service. The clothes are reasonable priced and the hats ($20-150 and up) and boots ($50 -1000). Wow, we spent hours here & loved every minute! It was like Disneyland, we didn't know where to start shopping. But we did. We brought our previously purchased felt hats that needed some TLC. The men there happily took care of them & sent us back in the retail wonderland. My husband & son started in the boot section & were immediately greeted by Rob. He had great patience with their boot preferences. Then it was off to find jeans. Wow, the selection was almost endless. The dressing rooms were a bit small, in my opinion, but they didn't care. Finally I got to look at the women's boots. Way too many choices for me but I persevered. Then it was back to the hat section to pick up our refreshed hats and guess what, I found a new one for me that I just had to have. First time at Cavender's and I was looking for a cowboy hat. I was impressed with the selection at first until I realized that they did not have many sizes above a 7. I was looking for a 7 3/8 or 7 1/2 but there were only a handful of options available in either straw or felt style hats. The staff was very nice and referred me to other Cavender's that have a bigger selection of the hats I was looking for, and I would certainly be back if I was looking for boots or other Western-wear. I will say it is a little pricey for the clothes/accessories they are offering, but perhaps they are better quality than the same brand elsewhere. I would be back but I want to try and look for other Western-wear stores in the area to suit my needs. The gentleman at the hat section was very helpful. Whatever your Western-wear objective, walk straight in and request the assistance of the boot "expert" or the buckle "expert" or what-not. They WILL have that expert on hand and he or she will make a real difference in your informed purchase. It's not Allen's Boots, so don't go craving the deluxe boot. This is a store for people who are going to buy a pair of boots that are going to see them through the next 20 years of their lives and work right alongside them. Take John, for example. We waited about 4-5 minutes for him to come out, but when he did... wow. I went to Round Rock, Cavender's Boot City to buy a hat that was in my size. I was greeted by Holden. He was respectful and took his time to shape the hat He helped me with. He made sure I was happy with it. He knew I was wearing this for passing of a loved one. Unfortunately, the checkout girl was checking for a sensor. Not meaning to break the brim inner liner that made the hat a little uncomfortable to wear. Hey accidents happen. I lost the receipt. I called and spoke to Luke. He understood quite well what I was talking about. He knew, my situation would be taken care of. Luke was great. He showed the hat to the manager and explained how the hat seem broke. Luke shaped a new hat for me it was just fine. He took his time to make sure I was happy with this hat. So, to Holden and Luke you are most kind and caring young men. Thank you. The cowboy hat people were unfriendly, unprepared, and uninterested. Me: "Hi there. Is there any way of determining the size? This is a first cowboy hat." Reply: "No." Me: " "You're a hat department but have no way of determining hat size?" Reply: "I don't know where they left the measuring tape. You'll have to try on hats and find one you like." That tall blonde kid doesn't know shit about customer service. He was playing on his phone the entire time we were in the store and when we were trying to get his attention for assistance. The person at the register could not even understand his job as we were just trying to check out and he gave us another person's boot order. He then polished off their boots for eight minutes right in front of us and kept asking us how they were, to which we always said they weren't ours. Couldn't get help, can't check-out. Well this was unexpected but since considering the amount of money that was spent on buying our first pair of boots together. I would have expected more of a better level of service on trying to correct a minor issue on a pair of boots my fiance bought. We came in on Sunday to 12/8 to buy a pair of boots for myself and my fiance for an upcoming holiday party. The expirence of service with looking for the right boot was nice. Salesman was nice with trying on different boots, very personable. My fiancee found a pair she like and during the process she found the size on what she thought was right for her. They were a little snug but the salesman gave us some tips in hopes to help with make sure they can stretch out. After the puchase, my fiancee wanted to wear them that very same day and notice the one foot was more snug than the other. So we went through the suggestion that our salesman gave with "stretching" them out. She was able to get them on and we went about the day hoping that wearing them would help losen the leather on the boot. Her wearing the boot wasn't the problem. It was the getting if off that was the issue. Took forever to get the one odd foot out of the boot. Which isn't good at considering she spent $200 for her pair. So our decision after wearing the boot only twice(in hopes to break them in) was to see about taking them back to see if we can trade them in or return them. This is where the 1 star follow up comes into play: When I came in, I went to the front desk and asked if it was possible to trade up for a bigger size. The front desk person checked put the boot, went back to talk to her manager, which didn't bother to come up front to help put in anything and advised her they were not able to return or trade in the boots at all. No other follow up service wise was done. I would have expected the same level of service coming in the buy, but unfortunately that was not the case. We're not buying $60 pair Nikes here.(even they can be returned after wearing them). With nothing directed on the sales receipt there are no returns. In all, if the service to help resolve a problem (especially with an upcoming event)was just as good as helping purchase, the rating would have been a lot better. read more

Do not order anything online from Cavender's. They are horrible. I made 2 purchases and received an email saying that the item had been shipped. What was weird was when I tried to track it in the system, it said that it did not exist. After a week I get a random email saying that the item purchase had been canceled AFTER they had notified me it had shipped. They even wanted a review of the item. How can you review when you never received what you had purchased?? This has happened twice but when I check online it says that the item is in stock. What the heck is going on with this company??? I bought a pair of Ariat cowhand boots, and when I received them I couldn't squeeze my feet into him so I simply returned them. That's where the simplicity ended. I shipped him back with UPS, I have a tracking number telling me that cavender's has already received them. Meanwhile I have bought the same boots from another location and already broken them in but I have not received a refund. I have reached out to them through email and phone calls four times with no response. If you buy something from cavender's make sure you don't need any customer service or there's no chance you'll have to return it otherwise shop anywhere else I would not recommend them. read more

I bought a pair of $1,200 alligator tail boots and decided to exchange them because I preferred a brown instead of black boot. When I came back I thought they would give me a hard time but the manager working was EXCELLENT. Not only did he gladly take the boots back but personally went and helped me pick out different options and suggested some really cool ones I ended up getting (almost 1,000 less than the black ones I got). He made me feel like I was valued and told me the boot was still great even though it was only $250. Most places would try to sell you the most expensive ones they have but he didn't. Horrible business!! I ordered a pair of boots online, received a confirmation via email just to get a follow-up email a day later stating that they had canceled my order because they no longer had the boots. I decided to look around on the website to find another pair that I might like, I ended up finding another pair and placing a second order. The same thing happened, I received a confirmation email just to receive a cancellation email two days later this time. I called customer service to talk about what had happened and asked why my funds from both orders were still being held and the woman in customer service was extremely nonchalant and arrogant about the entire situation. This is my first experience with this store, I will never order from this place again. What a joke, no way to run a business! Placed an order 8/2. Emailed Cavenders on 8/14 to inquuire about my order status. I understand there is low inventory on everything right now, but there is no excuse for such poor communication. Cavenders email response: Good Evening, Thank you for your email. Unfortunately, we got a new system, and the orders are not compatible with the website which cause you not to be able to track your order.  Looking into your order it shows that there is a possibility that it could be cancelled due to lack of inventory. We are currently going through all 90 stores to make sure that item is for sure out of stock before we cancel the order. You should be receiving a cancellation email if the order is indeed cancelled. The staff was horrible. I asked for help and the sales women left me and never came back. I needed help buying 2 pairs of boots that were wide calf and the sales person didn't seem to care. I also was with my tiny baby and husband. I noticed they were giving plenty of attention to the Spanish speaking customers but as a Caucasian woman they were ignoring me. My husband noticed this as well. I'm very disappointed and I will never shop here again. I would have spent $500 or more dollars but I'm never going there again. On vacation from Wisconsin. On a spoof actually just looking to stop at a bathroom. ( who knew so many places do not allow customers to use their bathrooms) wesaw Cavender's. My husband had this in his list to check out boots. We bought his earlier at Allen's but I wanted to check it out. I was immediately greeted and did the usual just looking. But hubby said we would like to check out women's boots. Jessica was unbelievable. I am not a skinny women and I was worried about my calves being to wide for regular boots. So we started with ankle boots. She brought out 4 different pairs. The whole time saying to pick out and try anything. She was so nice and helpful. We spent well over a hour trying on and finding a perfect boot. She very carefully explained how to properly break in the boots. I stopped in here randomly one afternoon with my family, mostly because we had a 3 year old with us that needed to use the restroom pronto! Anyway - good news is that they have nice clean restrooms here. Now I have never been to a Cavender's Boot City before. I was actually surprised at how cool this store was. We ended spending about 30-45 minutes walking around and browsing. First thing I looked at were the men's pearl snap shirts. In my household we are very fond of men's pearl snaps. They had some pretty ones and some were on clearance I notices for under $20. That is a great price! I will definitely be back with the fiance for this deal as pearl snaps are his every day attire. My family and I also spent some time browsing the boot section and oh boy ... if you need any sort of boot this is your place! They have a huge selection of all sorts of colors and styles. If you have ever shopped for boots then you know they are expensive and Cavender's has some that are not so expensive and on up to much more expensive. The customer service in the store was top notch as well. There was a ton of other stuff in the store such as purses, flashy belts and jewelry. If you have a cowboy or girl in your life or maybe a hipster that is into this kinda look I would definitely check this place out. You will likely be surprised at what you find here.
