When do you decide when you need new fitness shoes? When the swoosh symbol starts peeling off, your rubber soles start separating from the main part of the shoe or you big toe starts to puncture through your shoe? Well all these were happening with the two pairs of shoes I work out with mostly. There is actually some scientific formula of when you need to replace your shoes based on the number of miles you put on them. I used have the exact amount when I was training for marathons. Now, I tell when I see the above items happening and when my feet start to hurt. I have high arches, so I can not wear all fitness shoes. My quest of new shoes led me to Nice kicks. The first thing that struck about Nice Kicks was the name...cool name. Hopefully, it was a sign that I could find some nice fitness shoes. Secondly, walking into the store from outside, I was met with ice cold air conditioning, which I rather loved. All of the shoes are nicely laid out throughout the store. In addition the floor to ceilings glass windows emitted immense natural light. I perused the stored, however, did not find any shoes for my high arches. Please note that the prices are on the high side in the store. They have a wide selection of eye-catching, unique shoes. While I did not purchase any shoes, the store help me narrow my shoe selection. read more

Nice Kicks puts out a good product with a limited selection. End of year they run deals to get some of their products out of the store, while bringing in the new gear. The staff there is ok. They seem more interested in looking and acting cool than providing customer service, it's really weird. They have a parking lot in the back, but be sure to only park there while you are shopping at nice kicks or you will be towed. Overall the store has had many changes over the years. The interior has been redone a few times. It's probably in its best form now. The staff has also improved quite a bit. Before I felt like I was walking into a club I was not invited to. However now, I mostly go to Nice Kicks just for Miranda. She's the bomb and is always super knowledgeable. Catching up with her I always feel up to speed on the sneaker game. Plus I know that when I pick out a pair of shoes from there she'll always know to size up or size down based on the materials the shoes are made out of. My husband is also a sneakerhead so I definitely rely on her expertise to help me find the perfect gifts for him. Needless to say I'd be lost without her. Went in at 3pm on Saturday 5/9/2020 looking to purchase a new pair of shoes for Mother's Day. Once inside I picked up a pair of shoes to ask an associate for my size when I was told I was NOT allowed to touch any shoe. And then when he brought out the shoes I was told I could NOT try them on to see if they fit.... Then I asked if I buy them and they do not fit what is your return policy? He told me until the pandemic is over I can NOT return the shoes if they don't fit. I just went to finish line and shoe palace and touched and tried on the shoes that I wanted to try on with no issue. I'm guessing Nice Kicks isn't in the business of selling shoes bc you actually have to try them on to know if they fit. My wife and I stumbled into this place on a whim and it definitely didn't disappoint. The guy that helped us I'm sorry I forgot his name! Was very very nice and knowledgeable to boot, I asked him what they had that was rare and he pointed me towards the ZX 4000 which were really nice but not in my size =( I asked if they had off-white air max's because I took a major L on the SNKRS app and he said they didn't and explained why they didn't. (I can't begin to tell you how refreshing it is to hear someone know what the hell they are talking about) My wife ended up falling in love with the Rox Brown 1s, she wanted the Valentine's Day 1s as well, but again not in her size. I browsed as I do most shoe stores and saw the Nike Blazers that I had been looking for but again not my size...(why are you doing this to me God?) but as we were about to check out my wife said "I will not leave if you don't find something you're always so picky!" And I am lol and that's when I stumbled upon a section I had missed their New Balance section and found some awesome MSX90RCF that I don't think have even come out yet and bam I was sold. New Balance aren't very big in Texas but as an east coast kid, these are a big deal to me. If/when I come back to Austin (HTown stay down) I will definitely swing by Nice Kicks to see what they have. Do not park in their parking lot!! You will likely get booted whether you are in their store or not. If you visit their store and visit another one next to it, and do not remain in it the entire time, you will get booted. Didn't seem to have much of a selection as well, but you might get lucky. I sent him money back in mid December for some shoes. The guy just sent me my money back yesterday finally after I told him I would take my experience to corporate level.. They kept asking me to come back a few days later to exchange (so I can be out of my return window) No wonder they are going out of business. I've never been much of a sneaker head but my buddy from Michigan took me here to show me what it's all about. I was impressed, the store has a nationwide reputation and definitely deserves it. The staff is really friendly/talkative and helped me pick out some nice stuff. Definitely know style/fashion trends. They even cut me a deal on one of their nice snap backs . Beautiful establishment. If you are looking for a real sneaker boutique in Austin, this is the one. I recently visited Austin and asked the head manager here about other places i could find the type of stuff I was looking for. He willingly gave me a list of locations to visit in the downtown area, I thought this was so caring of him to share his competitors location. I went to all the locations he provided and they had a great selection of stuff but the service experience at Nice Kicks was like none other. During my time there the staff was very responsive, extremely knowledgeable, and came off genuine. The manager even got down on his knees to help me try on my shoes! Some of the other stores I went to didn't even greet me and let me walk right out. If you're looking for cool sneakers in Austin, this is where you want to go for sure. Loved the store when it was small and run by the two owners (I believe). Was in the new store the other day with my son and the selection is wonderful but the customer service was among the worst I have ever experienced. I did not get the name of the young man helping out but he was basically doing us a favor - while other employees stood around and talked with other customers and with to each other, we had to wait amidst the blaring music... I had to ask for help, can deal with that, had to go across the store to the counter in my stocking feet to pickup the shoes to try on, can deal with that, but was immediately informed that I could only try on one shoe at a time, cannot abide that. Perhaps it was the impressive website that made me expect more from the retail location... Don't get me wrong, there wasn't anything wrong with the modern and functional space but I just had the assumption that there would be more selection and a kapow! We visited during SXSW and the mister tried on a pair and would have tried more on but the had run out of sizes. This could be because they offer fair prices! They also had a smaller collection of women's shoes and an assortment of sneakers for the kiddos too.
