If have any sneaker game, you are well acquainted with the Nice Kicks website which is bursting at the seams with input and info on all that you need to know about kicks. Perhaps it was the impressive website that made me expect more from the retail location... Don't get me wrong, there wasn't anything wrong with the modern and functional space but I just had the assumption that there would be more selection and a kapow! We visited during SXSW and the mister tried on a pair and would have tried more on but the had run out of sizes. This could be because they offer fair prices! They also had a smaller collection of women's shoes and an assortment of sneakers for the kiddos too. During their in-store event, they were offering cocktails too but we didn't stay long because the store's temperature was overly sticky as if they A/C wasn't on or was not functioning properly. read more

Came here a few months ago and the customer service was horrible like others have mention. I came in not wearing any hype clothes and I wanted to try on the Yeezy 700 and the employee said to me "are you going to buy them or no". Nah... in sneaker terms, it means to turn people's heads around as they're walking because they can't stop staring at your Nice Kicks. Nice Kicks is one of the few places you can go to in Texas to have your paws adorned with fancy footwear. I follow them on twitter and their website through Google reader. If you want to know which is the next hyped up Nike or Jordan release, this is your one stop shop. Although I have only been to this boutique once, I have placed an order on the phone and had my friend pick it up for me. The process was smooth and professional. The prices are retail and shipping is reasonable. These aren't your every day general releases that you would find at Footlocker, so some of the sneakers may be more expensive than you are used to paying. read more

Here is my update: The owner, Matt, and Store Manager, Greg, are truly fantastic. I hope you get to see them when you shop here. They are there during the week. I would like to give all 5 stars to Matt, thank you! (Thanks to Greg, too!) Michael, the Assistant Manager, was very helpful when we went here too. This store offers brands like Adidas, Nike, Vans, there are tee-shirts, G-Shock watches, sunglasses, and other very specific accessories that you don't tend to see around Austin. The selection is ample. You can find if they have your style of shoe in stock in your size by looking at the ticket on the shoe. The store is very clean, neat, and the store prides itself on mentioning releases of new, hot items through great social networks such as Facebook and Twitter. Their shoe incentive program is positively valuable, if you buy 5 pairs of kicks there you will get the 6th pair free and they will keep track of those purchases in-store. Now that my husband has had a completely different shopping experience here, he will be returning to hopefully be a regular customer. What a difference a day makes! Please check this store out! Just shopped here this afternoon and had the nicest experience. The person who helped me first was named Dorian, but I had several other staff members come ask if they could help me find something. The staff was super helpful, but not at all pushy, and they helped me find two new awesome pairs of shoes. I really appreciated how knowledgeable everyone in the store was and would recommend Nice Kicks to anyone who appreciates a good pair of sneakers. It's one thing that their website is ripe with tons of sneaker knowledge. It's another thing when they sell a good amount of shoes at about retail. Thanks to some users on NikeTalk, I found out about Nice Kicks' summer sale. I was able to get a pair of Zoom KD III's in the black/orange/white/grey (since I'm from the Bay Area I got it because I am a Giants fan lol) colorway for $49 as opposed to a regular price of $88. Since they don't have an online store, I had to call in. I believe his name was Alex, but he was helpful in processing my order. Only $10 shipped for my order to Cali! On top of that, my order came in the amount of time he estimated it to arrive at my door. I wish I could actually walk in to the store to see what it is like inside, but the fact that this sale was a golden opportunity to upgrade my footwear on the court, I had to take advantage. Brutal customer service! After looking through everyone online store possible for a pair of Nike Vortex Vintage, I finally stumbled upon them on an awesome trustworthy looking website (Nice Kicks). After being SO SO pleased with finding them in my size and colorway I wanted, I jumped at the opportunity to buy them (also on sale). I was charged to my PayPal and thought that transacation was going according to plan. A couple of days later I was randomly refunded by PayPal (A week later the refund is still "on hold"). Nice Kicks gave me NO reason or explanation for why I had been refunded, I made the assumption that the shoes were just out of stock and they had forgotten to take them off the website. A good E-store will apologize for their mistake and offer SOME kind of compensation, after several email attempts and on-line chat attempts I had no luck getting in contact with anyone. So it's a week later and I still haven't received an answer to why I was refunded or the actual refund itself. So disappointed. read more

Went there earlier today because these guys do the best job ever on updating Facebook and their site period with the latest and upcoming kicks. Both staff members were extremely nice and helpful. Boutiques in NY where I grew up and the ones in LA where I currently live could learn from these guys. I think this may be the only sneaker boutique in town. The staff are very laid back, and aren't like your typical sales people who follow you around everywhere. These guys are just like me, dudes who are into sneakers, and spend a ton of money on kicks. I love the idea of the buy 5 and get the 6th free (they keep a card for you on file and they take the average you spend on all 5 pairs and you can put that toward something else in the store) when I finally filled up my card I had enough to get the very last pair of the "Flash" Hurache's EPIC WIN! It's a love hate relationship between me and Nice Kicks, I just started going there and every time I'm in the store I wind up spending more than I want. I expected so much more than what this store currently offers. The brand is much stronger than the physical location and their selection - not much top tier or quickstrike releases, just a lot of apparel and general releases, and maybe a few unique shoes (in women's or kid's sizes). The service was basically non-existent, no one really greets you when you walk in and the only decent aspect of the store was the music. I'd skip it altogether if you're visiting from out of town and short on time. There's a cooler shop that resells sneakers and Supreme stuff that's a better bet. read more

We literally forgot that NK had a store in TX. So much so, that we literally would have never stepped foot inside had it not been right next to Torchy's, which was on our food list. That being said, the two gentlemen inside were super helpful and courteous. They were intrigued with our road trip and happy to see folks from out of town make a stop into their store - D has been following them since waaaaaay long ago! The store has a nice assortment, could use a few more on the ladies side though. D wasn't able to get the shoe he first eyed in his size, but did pick up some stuff from the clearance table for a ridiculously generous price. You obviously are walking into a retail front, and not their warehouse or distributing center, so keep that in mind when shopping here (if you falsely assume that they're going to have 100% of their site in store). read more

Cool shoes great selection. I went in to buy a pair and they seemed to fit at the time, I wore them that night for maybe an hour and quickly realized they were too small for my feet. Took the shoes back to hopefully get exchanged. The girl that helped me said she couldn't do an exchange because she could tell they had been worn (they were a little scuffed on the bottom and inside admittedly) I get it some places are particular on their return/exchange policies. I said I only wore them one time and she immediately caught an attitude with me, even kinda raised her voice a little. I explained it's hard for someone who's 8 months pregnant to wear shoes that are too small and she suggested I take out the insoles and try to "stretch them out" I completely understood why she couldn't exchange them for a bigger size, but I could've done without the shitty attitude :) hopefully they'll fit better after I have the baby! read more

This store is absolutely horrendous. The way they handle shoe releases in every way is completely uncalled for and the lack of care for the customers is out of this world. After waiting almost two hours after the manager said the Woodstock ultra boost were supposed to drop, they finally let one by one inside the store which took even more time. When I finally got in the store, the manager gave me the wrong size for a shoe I asked for and didn't even check before giving it to me. When I noticed after I walked out of the store, I asked permission to get in and after multiple complaints, finally got in. They were wasting my time when also it was their fault they gave me the wrong size... To top it all off, the manager told me "Don't press the wrong button on Stockx next time" I said "excuse me" I have never sold anything on the website Stockx. He assumed I got the wrong size to sell or something like that, which came off very rude and ignorant to me. Also, when I finally got the shoes swap, it took another hour and a half for the guy to understand my situation and to proceed with the swap. After spending all that time there, I can definitely say it was not worth it at all for these shoes and the lack of care for the customer was showing very much. I was bombarded with resellers who were friends with the manager that spat at me with the manager and used very vulgar language at me because I was holding up the line for something that wasn't my fault. I could go on and on about how this made my experience horrific and I can truly say I will not be shopping here ever again and I advise you to not either as I was treated like a piece of trash as a customer. read more

This novice sneakerhead was given plenty of attention and patience by the super helpful staff. No attitude by staff at all. Really enthusiastic and knowledgeable staff. Really dig this joint. I'm a 42-year-old dad who wanted to see what a true sneakerhead store was like. I'm definitely not the target market here. As soon as I walked in, staff greeted me. I asked about the Air Max 97 silver bullets on display (my sneakerhead bro told me to look out for them), and they went and found my size so I could try on. I then spent time checking out the Jordans and talking to a rep about the various editions and releases. I then wandered over to the adidas displays and asked about the various differences between the NMDs, Power Boosts, EQTs, etc. Young guy was super friendly and enthused to educate me and bring out shoes to try on. Even when it was apparent that I wasn't going to buy anything that night because it was a couple of minutes to close, the staff kept telling me to not worry and to take my time looking around, texting photos to my sneakerhead older brother, etc. I ended up returning the next day to pick up a pair of Jordan 1s. Different staff, but just as friendly and knowledgeable. Really cool store. read more

If you're going to run a shop that's built on a business model as shaky as a boutique sneaker shop, you HAVE to do two things right: 1. Low overhead 2. Amazing customer service to gain repeat customers Nice Kicks, though new, doesn't seem to get it. I went in during SXSW weekend and saw about as many employees as they have t-shirts, which I think is four. So right there, they've failed point number one. And even if I'm mistaken and those employees were just friends of the one employee, it doesn't excuse them failing miserably at point #2. And I do mean FAIL. First thing the employee(s) do when we walk in is check out our shoes. That's pretty standard, I was checking out THEIR sneakers too. Boat shoes for me, TOMS for my wife. I guess they assumed we weren't sneakerheads. So they didn't give an ounce of effort to help us, engage us in any conversation, or tell us about their shop or product. Just completely ignoring us. Which would be understandable if the store was packed. It wasn't. It was just the two of us. Nice Kicks, your website is okay, but you need to come to grips with reality. You're operating a poor business model, pickyourshoes.com can offer lower prices, so your only hope is to befriend EVERYONE. And you did a shit job of that. If you don't, and hell, even if you do, you're still probably going to be closing up shop within 2 years. But at least give an effort. Shit. read more

Just like everybody who's had an ONLINE experience with these people: they just straight up suck. I placed my order last week on Monday morning and received a call confirming my payment info/shipping address on Tuesday and they told me they'd be shipped Tuesday no problem. Come Wednesday, no shipping number so, like everybody else also mentioned, I tried calling their "customer service # for online orders" and it just gets directly routed to somebody's personal cell phone, and you cant even leave a message since it says its full. What a joke. I finally get a hold of them over instant messenger (from their website) and they apologize and guarantee it'll be sent out Wednesday. To no avail, same story, tried to call back, but again had to talk to them over their ONLY way of communication--Instant messenger--and Thursday and was told the same thing, "Oh we promise it'll be shipped today, our "warehouse" guy hasn't gone to pickup the shoes all week from the retail store". Finally, Thurs night I get my tracking info so I knew it really did go out. My package just arrived right now. Excited to have finally received my new LeBron X's, I open the box only to see that the shoes were PREVIOUSLY WORN. If you're going to try and pass off shoes as NEW, at least have the decency to clean THE BOTTOMS OF DIRT. Also you can't fake it and say they're new when the midsole is already creased/crinkled from use. To make matters worse, on the toebox there is a scratch the PREVIOUS OWNER made and tried to COVER IT UP with some kind of cheap paint-cover-up even though it doesn't mask the scuff/scratch AT ALL and makes it look WORSE. If I already wasn't fed up with their non existent "online customer service" and they're lazy employees waiting a full week to "Pickup a pair of shoes from a store and ship them", I would actually try to INSTANT MESSAGE THEM (since you cant CALL) and complain, but what's the point? Looking at other negative feedback from Yelpers, I GUESS there's no return policy, the same return policy that STILL ISNT stated on their site. It says a lot about their standards when they let people pay $180 RETAIL on a shoe and give them this kind of service/product in return. Instead of pissing into the wind, luckily the Nike Store I live by are AWESOME and sympathetic and are willing to let me swap these out for a FRESH, NEW PAIR. That's CUSTOMER SERVICE, take NOTES. I'm a Sneakerhead and have successfully placed orders with multiple online retailers and have never come close to having the terrible experience I had with buying from NiceKicks.com. Any Sneakerheads reading this, even if they offer a great 20% discount on all their current kicks (even new releases), just go look somewhere else or pay full retail on a trusted site and dont donate a penny to these clowns and risk getting jipped. Buyer beware!! In terms of selection their inventory was great. However ASK ABOUT WHAT YOU ARE BUYING They sold me a shoe and now I cant return it. I bought it yesterday. They're in the box. They haven't left the box. And I have the receipt. They love to make the distinction over the phone about a "release" product and a "new" product. Something that should be made clear up front but obviously isn't. A "release" product is completely non-refundable even though they could slap it right back onto their shelf and sale it, but hey, that's obviously too much work to do for them. I've been following the blog for a while. I've met Matt at some events. These are good people. I walked in wearing business attire, and Mike immediately greeted me a struck up a conversation. I'm a very slow shopper, especially with kicks. I like to look everything over carefully. They were attentive but not overbearing. Maybe they thought I had money, but even then I showed my knowledge. It's a shoe store run by sneakerheads for sneakerheads. Get over it. Dudes don't come in here for hand holding. Everything is clearly on display. The private stock releases are awesome. Yeah they have some hype stuff and expensive stuff, but crepe bursts and some older dunks? Hell yeah! Great prices on those too. They have some truly exclusive stuff. Li-Ning, does anyone outside of Portland even carry these? And it's nice to have a spot getting Jordans and basketball shoes that isn't Active Athlete. Those dudes are shady. As far as over-staffing, most of those guys probably work for the website, which is the base that made this possible. Austin needs this store. But I can only give four stars. Why? Last week I ordered a pair of shoes online (since I live in California, picking up in store is not really an option) but for 5 days whenever I would check the status on my order online, I always saw "Processing". I am a sneaker junkie and want my shoes ASAP after ordering them, and was disappointed off the bat when I saw they hadn't even shipped yet. And then I logged on to check my order status today, and it says my order was "Closed". Everyday I have tried calling the number on their website only to get voicemail (which I've already left 3 and havent gotten any response). I got the same cold shoulder when I tried to chat with an online representative through their website. Majorly bummed. If you are a true sneakerhead this is your only real local source for a fix. Yes there are others, but this is the perfect mixture of tastes to satisfy my sneaker addiction. lol They have a great customer loyalty program, buy 5 shoes and get store credit of the average retail amount of each to put towards your 6th purchase. Now for some this may not be a big deal, but for someone who buys 3-4 shoes a month this is a GREAT thing! Saves me some major bucks. The staff has always been A-1 and friendly, all though Im usually here to buy something specific and don't converse much. The owner is a true sneakerhead, and gets what the people like. Not a suit trying to turn a dime, genuinely cares. At a recent "camp out" Yes we are the crazy ones you see days before a big sneaker release inline out side of a closed store in the cold waiting for the shoes. Matt and his wife brought the crazy folks waiting in line, myself included, hot chocolate and breakfast burritos. Was this something they had to do at the butt crack of morning?
