Big Shoes has been a go-to for me since the downtown store days around 2004. If I remember right, the store was on 3rd Street and it's where I bought my first pair of Diesel and Pony sneakers in size 16. At 6'8" with size 16 shoes, finding good options has never been easy, which is why I've appreciated this place for so many years. Mo has honestly been one of the biggest reasons I've kept coming back. He understands the challenges that come with being tall and needing larger sizes, and he always makes the experience comfortable and easy. He's knowledgeable, straightforward, and genuinely cares about helping people find shoes that both fit well and look good. Lisa and the rest of the team are always great too, but Mo's consistency and customer service really stand out. And somehow there's always a deal to be had, which makes it even harder to leave empty handed. Always appreciate stopping in and always appreciate the help over the years. read more

Do not buy from this company, the customer service is terrible, I purchased two pair of shoes, I had a issue with one pair less then 60 days. I emailed with pictures. No response after 3 days. I called customer service which is not good unhelpful. I had to go into the the website and dig finally I started a claim with photos. After 10 days nothing, I called and was told my claim was denied sorry about it... this is not fair or unacceptable. My man had been wearing the same ratty shoes for so long because he could never find shoes in his size. I found this place and convinced him to pay a visit. THEY ONLY CARRY SHOES SIZE 14+!!!! They had a super cute display and a digital inventory of everything avaliable at that moment. Be warned - I was a repeat customer here until I bought a pair of shoes that I really wanted from this company online but was sent the wrong shoe - similar name, quite different shoe. Their first response was to offer me to keep them with a small voucher (which wasn't attractive since I think they're ugly). They also say that if you are a size 13 or bigger, you probably shop on-line, are a bit frustrated, and seldom get your "big feet needs" met. The owner who I talked with here had VERY big feet and told me that they opened this store because they understand the lack of selection and what it is like to always have to shop on-line. Cool leather pointed shoes with a design tattooed on the top, everyday shoes, flip flops, sandals, boots, Doc Martens, Uggs, running shoes, tennis shoes, and of course basketball shoes... AND you get to try them all on. He said that, in his experience, most men with big feet are wearing the biggest, coolest shoes that they could find but their feet are still cramped. This can cause foot problems but -even worse - can cause back problems. Here are the conclusions that I draw after two visits...* 1. If your man has big feet, come here. Super wide counts as big... 2. If you are a person who likes MWBF (men with big feet) and all that entails, come here. You would be very thoughtful to purchase a gift card, even. Big Shoes is an awesome store! My husband and I realized this was here when we first moved to Austin and he was SO. EXCITED. His happiness was the equivalent of me finding Big Top Candy Shop. Insane. Anyway, so we ventured down to the store one day, it's kinda tucked away behind Chipotle, in search of some new shoes for my giant dude! He wears sizes 16-18 depending on the brand so he really never buys new shoes because he doesn't like ordering online and having to return and stuff or he can't even find his size in the first place! Like most guys who probably visit this store, I have never had much luck finding a store with a selection of shoes in my size (14EEEE) to choose from. Not only did Big Shoes have several makes and models of shoes to choose from, but they had lots of pairs in my size, including multiple colors of the Brooks Beast that I ended up going with. At the end of the day, their prices were totally in line with other shoe stores, the service was fine, and the selection of big shoes is unmatched in my experience. I'm kinda a big guy. Not huge, I only shop at the big n' tall for a few items, but big. I wear a size 16/15EEEE shoe, and have worn that size since junior high. Buying shoes has been a thorn in my side for a long time. At least until I found Big Shoes. I ordered my first pair online, and when it arrived via ground shipping within a day, I had to find out where they came from. Boom, outa here. A big shoe store in my own backyard. Awesome! One of the owners is a big guy too. I mean really tall. And I hear a lot of local sports celebs a customers as well. Needless to say, I don't order online anymore. Horrible customer service! Definitely do not purchase here if the shoes are meant to be a Christmas gift!! The downside of having large feet is that shoes are typically only available online. Oftentimes, depending on the shoe, the fit might be different depending on the brand and style. I received sneakers for Christmas that were too tight and therefore needed to be returned. The shoe is not made in wide and there are currently no other alternatives on the BigShoes site that are my size. The return policy is that after 30 days only store credit is given. Typically around the holidays many retailers will extend their return period to accommodate their customers, including BigShoes competitors. The fact that BigShoes does not do this means that I am now stuck with store credit to a store that has zero options in my size (and after the interactions I've had with them I no longer want to give them my business anyway). I have tried several times to contact the company via phone and email and when they do answer or respond, they have zero sympathy for my situation! I don't normally waste my time writing these lengthy reviews but hopefully this experience will help influence other consumers' buying decisions in the future. It's tough enough with large feet to find shoes that fit, a company like BigShoes makes that dilemma even more difficult! read more

Ooooooooh this place. As a man of stature (6'5"/340lbs), finding anything in my size has been as issue for most of my existence. Heck, part of the reason I was stoked about playing football in college was for all the free clothing and gear that was custom tailored. BAD CUSTOMER SERVICE IS NOT OK! BigShoes.com fulfilled my order. Initially they sent me the wrong tracking information, but I spoke with Jason Ballard who remedied the issue and sent the appropriate tracking info. My issue was not initially with BIgShoes.com directly; however, my issue arose from an unethical vendor that they are choosing to continue to do business with, after a serious issue was brought to their attention. I purchased a Roces ice skate from BigShoes.com. I purchased an ice skate that I had researched on Roces' website. The site leaves one with the impression that one of their ice skate models may be augmented to become an inline skate as well. Unfortunately, this was not the case, despite the fact that the two models are identical, and the website does not clarify that incompatibility. Upon expressing my discontent to Roces' customer service, I received an email berating me and demanding an apology letter. In a future e-mail, John Alarie, of Roces went on to relate that he would receive praise and a paid day off from his boss for his grossly inappropriate treatment of me. I contacted Jason Ballard at BigShoes.com to alert him of this issue. I urged him to consider discontinuing business relations with Roces. Mr. Ballard reported that Roces is the only brand manufacturing a large size skate and therefore BigShoes.com will continue to do business with Roces. Sign on the door says they are open 12 to 5 Saturdays. Apparently they are not. The voicemail on their phone number says hours are 10 to 5 Monday to Friday. Very disappointing as the only day I can get there is Saturday and I wanted to exchange some shoes my wife bought me that don't fit. There is also one spot on the website that list Saturday hours. My son wears a size 16 shoe and we have been buying shoes at this place for years. Both online and in the store. He now lives in Colorado and still wants to go in to this store every time he comes into town. But really what I love best about this place is their customer service. I often buy him shoes online but it's been more than 30 days by the time I get a chance to give them to him (especially when I ship him a whole box of Christmas gifts in one big package for instance). Big Shoes has always been very willing to let us exchange or return them if he doesn't like what I picked for him. Most recently, I had bought him a pair of winter boots for Christmas, but when he got them, he just didn't really like that particular brand. It had been more than 30 days since I bought them, so I asked if we could return them for a store credit, because they didn't have any current stock that really appealed to him. Big Shoes promptly said "no problem" and sent me a return label. What's so special about that? The shipping place where we dropped them off (FedEx and UPS) apparently "lost" them. They never scanned the package, FedEx had no record of it ever having been scanned, we had no receipt. I was PISSED. $100 Christmas present just became some stranger's new pair of winter boots I guess. I told Big Shoes Support not to worry about it - my loss - but they sent me a $50 gift card ANYWAY - basically they just split the loss with me, even though they had NOTHING to do with the problem! I do not recommend this place. The cashier was extremely rude. While I was there, unlacing my shoes, removing the current insoles, and installing my newly purchased insoles, she told me to do it somewhere else. I told her I would throw away my trash and leave as soon as I finished. She then repeatedly called me disgusting, and called the police. I promptly left, never to return. FedEx confirmed the tracking number is for the "invisible shoe". I Called repeatedly and left messages and was never called back. Email responses just kept insisting they sent two shoes in error. This company is horrible. I have ordered shoes from them a couple of times and the last order will be my last. I ordered one pair of shoes from them and they sent me two pairs. I paid through paypal so they received the money for the one pair. After finding out they made a mistake they demanded payment. I said no it was not my fault I already wore the shoes and they needed to chalk this up to a business expense. Since I already wore the shoes they said they would not accept them back. So they tried a request through paypal to collect the extra money and when I declined the payment they used my checking account number from a previous purchase and charged my account with out my authorization. I've bought 5 pairs of shoes from their on-line store over the years. Will not by another pair. In early October I bought a pair of Columbia hiking shoes that I absolutely love. Came back a couple of weeks later and bought another pair of Columbia hiking shoes (different color and style, same size and width). They did not fit like the first pair. The new ones were very wide. I tested them out around the house and the fit was marginal. I wore them for 1 day at work (carpeted office environment) and they just felt like they got looser as the day wore on. Contacted the company via e-mail. The response was very polite, but basically said, "because you wore the shoes to work, we cannot refund your money". If it were a different manufacturer or a different size, yeah, I get that. But, it's the same manufacturer and same size as the previous pair - and they do not fit the same. At all. So, I'm out $100, and they've lost a customer for life. There are too many other options out there for big shoes. read more
